The pools are spotty at best. One is closed most of the year. The other looks to need repair work. Swim teams usually monopolize the pool that is open. Plenty of treadmills, stairmasters, and stationary bikes.

I use both the Bounds and the Spanish Fort Y and the folks are nice and the facilities are kept clean (with one exception that I get to in a minute).
I give this 3 stars because I love to use the sauna, it’s the primary reason I chose the Y over any other gym in the area. The problem?

The saunas are ALWAYS closed for one reason or another. The one at Bounds Y is not grounded so anytime there is a storm it’s closed. It’s also filthy and tiny. The sauna at Spanish fort is clean, roomy and nice but it seems to be out of order often. It’s just frustrating and the attitude seems to be “oh well, sorry” and that is even more frustrating.

they tell you that you can cancel any time. I came in at the beginning of the month to cancel when I decided to go back to my old gym which is cheaper and 24//7. the Y told me I would be charged for another month before I could cancel. that is not cancel "anytime".

Bounds YMCA is the very best place to work out on the eastern shore. The exceptional staff consistently goes above and beyond, offering personalized attention and genuine encouragement to every member. Their diverse class schedule accommodates all lifestyles, with options available from early morning to evening, making it easy to maintain a consistent workout routine. Whether you're into high-intensity training, yoga, or strength conditioning, there's something for everyone. This YMCA is the best and I couldn't be happier to call it my fitness home.

My husband and I have been members at the Bounds YMCA in Daphne for over a year now, and we can’t imagine going anywhere else! We love the staff who know us by name (hi Tracey and Jessica!) and the gym really tries to foster community. The equipment can sometimes take some time to be repaired, but generally there are other options available. The facilities (shower, changing, restrooms) are not fancy but are straightforward and useful. The group classes are also really fun!

Really good gym overall, especially compared to the other options in the area. Staff has always been friendly to me and willingly purchased a piece of equipment I inquired about.

Some aspects I think could be improved:
1. Another sauna (the current one seats 4 and there is often a wait in the afternoon)
2. Uneven flooring in the free weight area. There are several dips and changes in the flooring surface that are a constant nuisance when lifting (uneven benches, one foot lower than the other, soft spots)
3. A better use of the walkway between the fitness floor and the group class room. To me this area should be turf or mat flooring like the rest of the gym. This would be a HUGE amount of space for people to warm up, stretch, etc that are currently going up to the track and squeezing up against the walls.

I absolutely love this YMCA. The classes are amazing and they offer plenty of times and days for all schedules. The staff is mostly friendly, and the personal training is great. The childcare can get crowded around 9:30, but the workers are great with the kids.

Been to many Y's in my lifetime and this one is probably the worst I've experienced. Even with discounts the lack of equipment is appalling not to mention the few machines they do have get hogged by folks on their phones forever and staff does nothing. There is no good time to get in and get a decent workout. The staff is rude and short with all basic questions. The others that attend are not whom you would ever want to be around much less do they have common courtesy. For this type of environment, you would think you are at a Planet Fitness instead of somewhere that charges a minimum of 6x the amount. I would say do better but they don't care about your experience just your $$$.

If you guys want apply low income please do not or you have to apply 2 years to approve because you never reach the people who do that job. Came 2 weeks ago to ask about that. She said she gave me application and she will help register. Noone tell me the summer camp full. I summited afternoon with tax return, the font desk said will let me know today or tomorrow. Now after 7 business days called font desk and transfer me to Emily. She called back and said i am not the one do the scholarship and the summer camp form now to July full? Excellent job 👍🏼 if you guy do not do scholarship just let ppl know do not waste their time.

We have one of the best YMCA’s! Lots of long-term, dedicated staff members and patrons make this a friendly, inviting atmosphere. Facilities offer something for everyone: indoor & outdoor pool; dry sauna; ample group fitness classes w/ lots of variety; indoor track; and well-maintained cardio machines and strength-training equipment. The Bounds Y offers a great value and service to our Daphne community! Body Pump class is my favorite:) Check it out!

I hate the white paint in the men’s bathroom, but other than that, it’s a great place to workout and swim. I saw a young man deep cleaning the men’s locker room the other day and the once dingy floor is finally looking so much better!!! Hopefully they get rid of that paint though. White paint in a bathroom just looks bad.

Members, classes, cardio equipment, instructors, and the front office worker are what make this place worth visiting! But: not much afternoon class variety and all-too-often can’t use membership because there’s no available slots in childcare-the problem is heightened during morning, summertime sessions, even if you try to reserve a spot 24+ hours in advance. Class and childcare times are not for the “9-5” type of worker. Bathrooms, floors (especially in the classrooms), and class equipment are dirty and yoga balls remain deflated. Facility is hot in the afternoon and evening. One of the main classrooms is way too small for the class size and range of movements. Safety and management in the after school care area are subpar, at best; I wouldn’t recommend the program. The price is great, and there aren’t a lot of after school/summer options. But, on multiple occasions, young summer camp kids were being led by teenagers along the busy roads near the Y (one road lacks sidewalks), an after school bus driver drove out of Rockwell with her cell phone in her hand, looking down at it and talking while turning right; another bus driver-the head of after school care-whipped around the corner out of Rockwell at a high speed with a boy standing up in the aisle at the back of the bus. Plus, unsecured exits and inattentive caretakers in the basketball/after school area at the Y. The head of that dept seems to lack the love, happiness, patience and compassion that is expected from someone in her roll.

Sauna, pool, and all the weight equipment you could want. Their hours aren't ideal but I have a weird work schedule so it doesn't effect me at all. I have been a member of the YMCA for over 20 years. It's. good environment and the staff for the most part are friendly. It is clean. My only complaint is the basketball gym. It needs a new floor. the lock together plastic blanks are awful to dribble a basketball on. Also, you don't have access to the basketball gym very often. They have an after school day care program that uses it. The guy that runs the basketball gym is very rude. He told me he was going to kick me out because I was "too loud". BTW, I wasn't. All I did was tell my son "good job" when he made a shot. I was very confused by this guy. Not sure how you can play basketball and be as quiet as a mouse. The equipment in the gym is very good and maintained.

This facility is an exceptional place to workout at. There are plenty of options. It has everything; and get this it's all included in your membership fee (Except for child care). Spinning, Yoga, Pilates, Cardio machines, Free weights, Hammer strength, and various adjustable weight training machines.
Most of the staff are friendly and very personable, a few have hidden agendas; but for the most part, they are more than helpful and very knowledgeable.

★ 1

Have been going here a few years and besides awful hours (not 24hr access to the gym) it's been good. I'm not terribly upset about it being closed for holidays as I think everyone deserves time to spend with family but it would still be better if they had a finger print scanner or some other way of using the facility besides having to be checked in manually. The reason for the 1 star is because multiple of the new staff are awful and inhospitable (not all, one new young guy does his job and doesn't cause a disturbance, and most of the ladies there are all extremely welcoming and kind) . They complain about everything and don't look like they've ever stepped foot in a weight room before. Myself, and several other members that have been regulars for the past 3-5yrs have all been whined at by the new staff members for things no reasonable human would ever care about in a gym setting. (Keep in mind many of the front desk staff are always a pleasure to see when walking in, it's just a few bad apples that ruin the atmosphere and experience for me and many others.)

• noise on deadlifts (not dropped from the top of the rep, just general noise)

• dropping BUMPER plates on an OLYMPIC BAR onto a PADDED OLYMPIC PLATFORM from overhead. I implore the staff to consider what the purpose of bumper plates, weightlifting platforms, and weightlifting bars with snatch and clean rings is, if not to be explicitly dropped from overhead.

•whining at bodybuilders for grunting when lifting hundreds of pounds in a squat rack (not shouting, frothing at the mouth, or actually screaming their heads off. Just noise from effort)

I haven't seen anyone harassed by staff like this ever until some of these new hires showed up. If there was another gym close by I would've left already

At what point will the Y get with the program of decent hours like everyone one else in the gym world.
Dispute popular belief , not ALL members are in their 80’s and take the weekend off from the gym.
We workout out after 7pm, on holidays , And get this… on Sundays .🙄
I will say , they have the best equipment in town.

They have horrible hours of operation. Wi-Fi coverage is so spotty and when you do have a connection it’s super slow there’s no cellular signal because it is a metal building. Staff are clueless and who doesn’t open until one on Sunday it’s absolutely ridiculous. My advice to anyone would be to go to planet fitness for the same type of atmosphere half the price only thing you’re missing out on is a pool.

Pretty decent gym. Friendly atmosphere most of the time. Lots of machines although it seems many of the treadmills have glitchy TVs. Wish the pool was open later on weekends and cleaner...especially the outside pool. Pool staff has been unwelcoming in the past. I know they are mostly kids but they should probably have some training in how to treat the kids they are watching. We've always liked the private swimming lessons experience and those instructors have always been excellent. We used to love the Kids Night Out program, but they've made it less conducive for our child who is not into socializing. I wish they had some kind of classes for beginners especially yoga. Administrative people are nice but don't seem to be on the same page with information. Cleaning attendants are friendly and always hard at work. Now that my children are 8 and 11 they do not feel comfortable going in the ladies dressing room which I totally agree with but I do not feel comfortable letting them go in the men's area because there is no privacy for them. I'm not comfortable with them being exposed to naked men or having to expose themselves. Probably a lot to ask for a kids dressing area or family room. There is a changing room/storage room by the pool but I think it's really just meant for storage. It would be great if they would post the status of the pool on Facebook or via text. It's kind of inconvenient to get there only to discover it is closed because of a distant rumble.

I came in as a guest with my sister who is a member. Wanted to get a membership but wanted to try a class out first. We called the day before and asked what all we needed to bring for me to do a class with her. Was told all we needed was $10. I get there with $10 in cash and then I’m told “oh we don’t accept cash” which of course was not told to me on the phone. But it was fine my sister asked if she could just charge it to the card on file. Then she asks for my drivers license that I don’t have with me because I was never told that I needed to have it. All the while I’m trying to remain calm even though this is very annoying because I did everything right and called the night before and asked what I needed to have and NONE of this was mentioned. The woman at the front desk was extremely rude and said “well your sister is a member and should have known what you needed to have.” My sister has never brought a guest before and again WE CALLED AND ASKED and were not told any of this. It was very disgusting and embarrassing the way the woman was talking to us. Needless to say, I’m not getting a membership there anymore. This was very disappointing.

Probably the dirtiest most disgusting gym I have ever been to. My high school locker room smelled better. I don’t think the men’s restrooms have ever been mopped or disinfected. I only see the attendant using a broom and dust pan to cleanup. Wiping off equipment is not enforced. I find all sorts of goodies in the pool (band-aids, lettuce 🤷‍♂️). My wife and I had to say goodbye to our long term membership a few months ago as we just can’t justify the cost of membership vs the amenities. AND the fear of staphylococcus or MRSA. I don’t know how they stay open from a health code standard.

Great place, much better than downtown. I wish they would post a sign at the entrance and then enforce 10 minutes maximum per machine, no checking emails and texting while lounging on the equipment, chatting and socializing, rather than actually using the weights. The weights are for everyone's use, and using them is what they should be doing. Check your emails, text, and take calls in the lobby area. Thanks for a great place to work out.
