I have been a member since November 2022. After this membership is canceled I will not be returning.

I submitted my cancellation request yesterday 10/15/25 to the customer service email and their response was (included in photos) “ Your final payment is due on 10/19/2025. You are also responsible for the service charge $15 for the month of September payment. You will have club access until 11/18/2025.
Please remit $42.99 to the address listed below to finalize your request.”

My membership was $27.99. I have no outstanding balance (included details on photos) yet I am being charged $15 service fee for September which I paid and have receipts and an additional $42.99???
The management is TRASH. I am told the service will end 11/18/25 (another month from now). This is a trap. Never again. Very disappointing

The cancellation process is absolutely criminal. I originally cancelled back in June. Since then, I've been in a back and forth with representative after representative because bills continue to show up on my banking statements. I thought I had it taken care of last month but a $50 bill shows up on my statement this morning. I call and I'm being charged an annual fee and was assured that this was the last payment that would be charged to my account. I'm reporting Club4 to the Better Business Bureau.

If I could I'd vote 0 stars. Staff are liars and contract is wrong. Staff are telling me there are towels for the lockers rooms. There aren't. The facilities are cheap. I know many other places the quality is 10x what for the same price. Their app sucks. Machines are always broken.

It’s unfortunate that the upper management is so terrible because this is a well equipped gym in a great location. However, there are plenty of similar quality gyms in the area so I have to give them a poor rating for their truly horrible customer service. The only way to cancel your membership is to call or email their ownership company who will intentionally ignore you. Once you finally get through, they will submit a “cancellation request” and tell you they’re still going to charge you for the following month before they’ll let you cancel. This place isn’t special enough to be worth the hassle.

I saw this guy there recently speaking to one of the employees and then a customer later on in my workout and omg idk why but he was so mean. He was kind of bald idk how to describe it but I think he was foreign as well. I haven't seen that before but he was tearing off signs on the bathroom doors and getting mad about. Not sure who he is but wanted to let someone know.

Very bad experience. Signed up and after a few months injured my shoulder. Unfortunately had not stepped into the facility. I went in personally to cancel. They told me I needed to cancel via email. So I did. Received the cancellation confirmation. Required a 30 day notice. That was fine. Around that time my card became compromised and so busy I didn’t realize it affected the the payment. So instead of honoring their cancelation they decided that made my cancel null and void and they continued to charge me. Supposedly tney “texted” me. So that means all the weird ads I get that I don’t open was telling me about the card issue. This was. 25.99 charge that is now $150 which I plan on disputing. There was no phone call or email. Just in my opinion this is very sneaky tactic to have an excuse to continue charging you on the same card that apparently didn’t work. I was completely oblivious to this. I decided to give. Try again recently and went in to pay for a day workout and this was how I even knew. Club4fitness doesn’t personally handle your account. The send over to a generic name by abc billing and there is absolutely not personability with handling the matter. Only it’s now in collections. Talk to the atty. it’s very rude. I just don’t handle my own business or customers this way. So maybe

Cons
1. The manager Mr. Scott is has poor customer service. He does not greet you. You have to find him or someone at the front desk in the mornings.
2. The staff at front desk has poor customer service. Few of them actually smile and greet you genuinely. I applaud those who do, I’m sure they are not paid much.
3. The cancellation fee is too tedious. Be prepared to pay for an additional month even when you want to cancel the membership “effective immediately”. Plus you have to pay an annual renewal fee of $50 plus the membership amount every year.
4. You can’t bring a guest with your membership.
5. This location needs more space and equipment. It’s cramped in there.
6. There are little to no instructors for the classes so just be prepared for the virtual teaching. I don’t mind that at all however, most people are not knowledgeable about fitness and need an instructor for better guidance since the virtual classes are fast-paced. I believe they should PAY THEIR INSTRUCTORS MORE then maybe they would have more of them sign up. Not everyone wants a virtual fitness class.
7. Needs an additional restroom outside of the locker rooms (which are all the way on the back).

Pros:
1. The basic membership is $27.99 but I’m sure it will go up for absolutely not reason. It’s an average 24 hour gym. If and when they do they will definitely lose valuable members.
2. The app to sign up for classes is cool.

Gym was cheap and employees were nice but you may spend less somewhere that won't scam you on cancelling your membership. Looked online, it said to cancel in person. Went in person, they told me to cancel through the app. App took me to an email request, I sent a cancellation email. Months later I see I've still been getting charged monthly with some additional $50 renewal fee. I called support and now they want me to make ANOTHER account to a different service to cancel my first account (not what the employee told me) and I'll have to go through a whole separate process of being passed around on the phone to ask about a refund, and then I'll need proof which I don't have because I cancelled through my app and I can't find the email. There are other gyms in this area, unless you plan to stay forever you'll regret picking this one.
**Update: They will make you pay an additional month's membership plus a cancellation fee before they let you cancel. You have to pay them to let you stop paying them.

About a year ago I called and asked about canceling. I was told I could do it online on the app. Few months later, I’m still getting charged. I called them and they told me to email management and they would take care of it. The app said I was cancelled out and was no longer a member, but I was still getting charged though. I go show up in person to settle everything but management was not there. They said management would call me…but of course they never did. Such lazy management that needs to be reevaluated. After trying to cancel for almost a year I am still getting charged. If you want to go to a gym that actually prioritizes its members this place is not it.

My experience with them is mostly bad because of them as a company not necessarily this gym. However they did lie to get me to upgrade the membership when I knew I wouldn't be using it like that. When I tried to downgrade they said it would be a $20 fee to go to basic and if I wanted to cancel I would have to email corporate after they basically told me in the beginning that they were nothing like planet fitness and that u didn't have to go through all of that to change/cancel or manage your membership.

Been trying to cancel my membership for four months since I lost my job. Finally got through to the right channels and they forced my to pay my next month fees which includes the $49.99 yearly on top of $25.99 for the premium plan I subscribed to. I was polite and told customer service of my change in situation, and they wouldn't budge.

All in all, this gym is not worth the money or the headache. Not enough strength training machines. You'll wait 20 minutes on some kid playing on their phone for any workout you want to do. It's a homeless camp, where you'll constantly have a homeless person using the facilities like they live there. It's not clean. Staff doesn't enforce any of the club rules and generally just stand around and talk all day.

The music is quiet and often times not even upbeat. The lighting is terrible, with retail store white lights. This is also the worst location in town. Every other club4 has better equipment and layout.

I want to iterate that the staff is pleasant and kind. There's a few bad apples but if you do talk to someone they are usually very very nice.

A lot of machines/strength equipment need work and service. Reporting these issues will just have someone put a sign on the machine only for it to be pulled off next day with no repairs made.

Also add a mirror to the men's bathroom corridor so you can see people coming around the corner, you won't be able to count the amount of times you get slammed into walking in and out of there.

Go to 24E! They'll treat you better.

Big warning for when trying to cancel membership. You have to jump through so many hoops. Unnecessarily difficult.
How to cancel
1) call customer care on the club 4 app.
2) press zero to talk to a real person.
3) they will send you a link to your email to fill out to cancel
- you’ll probably have to register on the link.
4) follow the directions in the email to cancel.

Dont waste your money! I spent one day in this gym, only half of my regular daily routine. I mean, I guess some people like the completely bland environment. The employees all talk to you condescendingly. It's not welcoming, and it's not a place to go if you have confidence issues. Their contract agreement is also ment for you to not read it because if you did, you would not sign up. It's a waste of money, It's a waste of time, It's a waste a business space that could otherwise be taking up that slot.

I’ve unfortunately found this location to be a bit of a mixed bag. The staff is friendly but there is a severe lack of equipment in comparison to the number of members that workout here. Even in non peak times I’ve had to wait on equipment for extended periods of time. The most frustrating part is how difficult the cancellation process is. I was told upon sign up that I would need to come to my home location in person to cancel. I recently moved and had to carve out time to drive to this location to cancel only to be told that the cancellation process has now changed. A staff member informed me that I should see my member number on my app for cancellation but it was nowhere to be found even with their assistance. They were able to look it up manually and informed me I would have to call the support number and cancel over the phone. The support number then directs you to email their customer service to cancel. It just seems like the system is designed to make cancellation as difficult as possible. I would be hesitant to rejoin for this reason alone.

I have been a member of this gym for six months and have had a really positive experience! I’ve been training with Nik and although I never thought I’d hire a personal trainer, I’m living proof that it was a smart decision. My sleep and anxiety have improved; even my torn meniscus has improved! I’ve also lost weight and gained muscle. Nik is very knowledgeable and always has answers to my questions, and I’ve had many. He’s personable and is very motivating. He never pushes too much but seems to find the right balance, which helps me progress. I feel better than I’ve felt in a long time! The staff is friendly and the gym is clean. It’s been a great experience! I’ll be continuing my training at least another six months.

I had a premium account purchased from this location. I moved to Inverness and attempted to go to that Gym and I was informed I would need to upgrade to access the new location. I assumed I signed up for the basic membership, but they potentially did not see it correctly, or lied. They then created me a secondary account under my middle name. And double charged me for 4 months.

I canceled my member ship in April 2022, and they have been charging my debit account since April 2022 for the secondary account. Totaling hundreds of dollars. After double charging me for no reason before. I called there various locations, Managers, general managers, you name it. After being shuffled around and having to call 5+ times, It is resolved. They also ghost me when I attempted to get a refund of the charges wrongfully pulled from my account.

Needless to say I will never, ever be involved with this company again.

on 02/07/23 at 0830 PM,I went to the front desk asking for help on how to use my app and bar code to access the gym.
the front desk employee refused to give me any kind of help, according to him, I did not need to use the barcode and all I had to do every time I was walking in the gym was to tell my name to the clerk for them to check me in the system.
I told him if I would only sign in if I was able to use the app to access the gym, like everybody else.
he went crazy, yelling at me to leave the place, in front of other customers, threatening me with calling the cops and saying that I did not belong there........
Is this a racist statement? because I am Hispanic? Or what did he mean with that?
Either way, Worse Customer service ever!!!!! Stay away from that place.

He is a Black male, around 5.3FT high on his mid 20's.

I love the convenience of being able to go to the gym any of the 24 hours in the day. The gym is always clean. They have lockers for your stuff and hydromassage. The frontdesk is always friendly. I never have to wait for a machine and they offer some pretty good workout classes (virtual and instructor and in person).

Pretty irritated at your gym.

I’m in town in Birmingham visiting for a couple weeks, and just need a local gym to use while I’m here.

The front desk said I can’t use the gym. I can’t even sign up for a drop-in day pass, or a 1 month pass. She said you HAVE to be a local to even sign up for anything at all.

Club 4 everyone, except visitors. Went to Crunch fitness instead.

I joined this gym about 2 weeks ago and it has been good so far. There is plenty of cardio equipment and free weights available. There are also 3 squat racks with a platform and 3 without one. I have only had to wait for one when I have gone right after work, otherwise it has never been a problem.

You also get a free consultation with a personal trainer after signing up. I met with Bo and he was very helpful, I would definitely recommend him to anyone looking for a trainer!

Trainer Bo at Club 4 Homewood is a great trainer that had much to add to my everyday workout regimen. I stay active and am used to training but he helped me with new workouts to work around old injuries and expert tips on foam rolling and stretching. Everyone there on staff is great. Been a member here for about 8 months now , and I still have 0 complaints. The staff here actually seem to enjoy their job , or just simply aren't miserable with life like other gyms in the area. They also look for the most part , somewhat fit vs the slobs I'm used to seeing.

The gym itself has EVERYTHING you need as advertised , and everyone is always courteous and NORMAL!

One of the best. Staff is great and friendly. Leah, Christian and Justin are the best trainers. Starting from 0 fitness background they’re very informed and flexible in their training. Highly recommend

This gym is large and has everything that one would need to get in shape and/or rehabilitate themselves from an injury. There are plenty of free weights as well as machines. The staff is friendly. I haven't had many questions for the staff; but the few that I did where answered. There are different monthly payments depending on the plan that most suites your needs. There is 24 hour access and the people are nice.

The best gym in town!
I've used several different local gyms over the years, and this one is far and away my favorite. The equipment is fantastic, the facility is large and open 24×7, the staff is knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly, and the other members are amazing.

This location is more concerned with late fees than keeping a long-term membership active. I haven’t used my membership in 74 days due to an illness, but I wanted to keep my membership active. On the date my membership fees were due, my bank locked my debit card. On the same day, I was charged an extra $20 late fee. Couldn’t get anybody on the phone that evening because the gym was closed. Called the next day to speak with the manager (who was either fired or quit over the weekend). The next person in charge (Oliver) basically stated to me that the fee wasn’t going to be removed, showing no concern to the explanation I was giving. He also seemed to not care about me canceling my membership as well. Funny how they won’t cancel the membership at the gym, as you have to do it through an app. But they love charging unethical late fees, not giving members enough time to correct certain situations or unforeseen circumstances. The monthly fee was also suppose to come out on the first of each month as agreed when I started the membership, but they billed me two days earlierm.

I've had a membership with a couple other gyms/health clubs and Club4Fitness is by far my favorite! The staff are so friendly, the facility is extremely clean, there is a variety of equipment. Also, there is tanning available, hydro massage, personal trainers, and several different group classes you can join. If you have kids they also offer day care I believe. The prices are great. They don't want an arm and a leg to join. I recommend this gym over any others in the area.
