So my review has absolutely nothing to do with the establishment as a whole, just mainly an employee that I got to interact with.

I was in the shopping plaza for work, I didn't feel like driving all the way to a gas station. And I knew gyms would have energy drinks to get me up and going. So I walked in, and I stood over by the energy drink cooler. About a minute later an employee finally noticed me, came out, asked me if there was anything I could be helped with. I asked for a recommendation on an energy drink, since they did not have Celsius.
They recommend it one, so I chose it.
Went over to checkout. They asked me for my phone number, so I gave him my phone number. They couldn't find something, so they asked me to scan my membership card to get in. I informed them that I wasn't a member.
I was then asked, what do you mean you're not a member, you came off the street just to buy an energy drink from a gym. My response was yes.
I was then told that I have to have a membership to buy a drink, I then stayed at. I've never heard that before. But then again I don't go to this gym. I was then asked what Jim I went to, and why I was not there. So I had to inform the front desk worker, that I was here for work, and I walked over here to just get some energy drink.
And then I was received with some attitude. And harsh body language. Does she even pulled an employee over who was walking in, and sharing the story with them. She had to ring me up under her account, I was able to pay for my item. And then when I asked for a receipt, she looked at me and said YOU NEED A RECEIPT! And then she just walked away, the gentleman who walked in in the pink hoodie, was able to get me a receipt. And I did vocally Express how helpful she was not.

My only recommendation, as somebody who walked off the street to buy an energy drink. Inform the employees, not to treat people like others, when they just want to buy something from the establishment

I've been in many Gym, but this one is complete they have 4 water massage bed , a Red led to recover for an injury an many more.. so if you are near of 280 please this is your place for work out and relax .. I love CLUBa 4 Fitnnes

If you are in the market looking for a gym to join stay far away from this company! When the time comes to cancel your membership they will not respect your decision to leave. The local store management will not cooperate with your request to cancel your membership and what will transpire afterwards is never ending harassing phone calls from a bill collection agency they contract with called Aldous and Associates.

This is a great gym. It’s not too busy except after January 1st for about 3 weeks. The staff are nice. The equipment is good, well maintained and cleaned often. The other club members are nice. I’ve had no issues for 3 years now. The hours are great.

Over the course of going to the 280 Brook Highland location for about 2 1/2 years it’s been a sub par experience. The quality of the bathrooms and the hygiene found in there is honestly atrocious 😂. Toilet paper rolls are often empty, empty paper towel dispensers, and puddles of liquid on the floor, blatantly the locker room is too small for how many people attend the gym though so I’ve tried to give them the benefit of the doubt. Even then though the management and customer service is horrible, half of the employees are condescending and rude while the other half are actually typically chill which is disappointing. The only thing saving this place is the amount of equipment and space despite the fact that there’s usually always 1 broken machine; and not to forget the water fountains which both have broken on different occasion and both of which have taken 2+ months to repair. Switching to the 119 Saint Vincent’s gym was the best decision I ever made 🙌.

Good gym overall. Crowded with teenagers who don’t know what they are doing, sitting on equipment that there is not enough of, scrolling on their phones while having no respect for those of us who are not at the gym to waste time. Need more than one leg press, and more than one functional Smith machine that is facing the mirror. This location really needs a sauna, and there is lots of wasted space near the entrance to the women’s locker room. Otherwise it is better than PF…..

Major concerns due to my vehicle being broken into in broad daylight. The girl at the front said we should park at the front of the store, but during peak hours there is no way to do that. There also seems to be a lot of overcrowding during peak hours and a lack of machines to compensate the demand.

I’ve been a Club4 member for a year and a half, and a year ago I would have rated this gym 4 stars. The equipment is not properly maintained and repaired in a timely manner. The gym is simply ragged out including build-out, equipment and amenities. There is no sense of urgency in repairing anything. The HVAC, cardio and weight lifting equipment is left in a state disrepair for long periods of time. The temperature isn’t regulated correctly. The air is stagnant, so much so that it stinks at times. The fans are run at such low speed they might as well be left off. The flooring has large wrinkles and creases causing people to trip and fall. The experience there is so poor now, I just don’t go.

I really do like this gym. The equipment is great, the place is clean except for the bathroom (on the occasional times I have gone), and there’s usually plenty of space to get a good workout in. It checks a lot of the boxes when it comes to what I need from a fitness center.

But I have to say, one thing that really stands out—in a not-so-great way—is how unwelcoming it feels when you walk in. There’s barely a hello, no eye contact, nothing. There used to be two workers that would speak once you entered but they are no longer there. And while that might seem small to some, it actually makes a big difference. Sometimes the “person” never even looks up. A quick “Hey, good to see you” or even just a smile at the front desk would go a long way.

The gym itself is great, but that lack of simple, human connection takes away from the experience. People want to feel like they belong when they come in—not like they’re just another body walking through the door. I hope the staff and management take that to heart, because this place really could be a 5-star gym with just a little more effort in the way they welcome their members.

Been a member for 2 years go to 280 location. There are members who routinely and intentionally drop weights. It is very distracting to others workouts and very hard on the equipment. On two occasions I've brought it to management's attention and they basically do nothing. Actually last time the members were intentionally dropping the weight right in front of the manager on duty. It's been my experience that if you have an issue management will not address and resolve.

Well I wrote the review below a while back about how great this gym was, but it's gone down hill drastically. The men's locker room's always disgusting showers. Never working lately. We don't even get warm water to shower with. It's now nice and cold. Some days we have one shower someday. Two there used to be three working but that's now long gone. Worst customer service ever the Manager named Josh at the location on HWY 280 has the worst attitude denied me access because my app was not working. I asked if he could look me up he said we are not going to be doing this every time. I explained this is my first time here and I just got the membership and I’m having issues with my phone. Equipment that is broken down is never repaired in a timely manner. The pads that are ripped or torn are not replaced in a timely manner. Restrooms are not properly stocked in the early morning hours. Employees in the evening spend more time on their phones than they do cleaning or replenishing the hand sanitizer stations or paper towel stations. Employees do not enforce the rules or regulations (examples; replacing your weights, recording videos). Finally, tanning beds bulbs are never replaced in a timely manner.

I’ve been coming to this gym since October 2023 and have been training with Rachel. She is one of the best personal trainers I’ve ever had. She isn’t a group instructor, but does individual training and is possibly one of the nicest people I know. I think one of the previous reviews was incorrect and i feel a need to clear her name. She has helped me lose 70lbs and regain my confidence! I highly suggest you use her for training!

I have been coming here to this location for 18 months. I absolutely love it.

Reading is fundamental and I suggest that every person carefully read the rules and their contract. A lot of the poor reviews are a lack of reading and understanding policy and how termination of membership works and the rules on personal training. I have come with friends and they have shown me proper form and I have never been spoken to about it. This is because we are doing it together and following guidelines. We don’t stand around and show others how to perform there’s a difference in guiding and training and these guys know very well what to look for!

Moving on, I have brought my daughter every time with me and she loves the childcare room. In 18 months we’ve had one incident that upset me, however, upon speaking to the manager she handled it so well and spoke to this teacher about yelling at children and I also had a very calm and respectful conversation with that teacher and we ironed it out and never had another issue to date… I appreciate the quick responsiveness and how my concern was handled with seriousness, it made me feel that I could forgive this one instance and it wouldn’t happen again.

Lastly, everyone there is so nice, honestly customers and staff are just easy to be around, you don’t feel judged or uncomfortable and I’ve asked questions and had immediate help. One of my favorite staff I see there often — helped me rack a weight because I got fatigue and couldn’t put it back. He jumped right in when he saw the exhaustion.

Staff is always walking around, cleaning and maintaining the facilities, bathrooms and lockers are spotless, equipment is nice, and it’s so fairly priced. I do wish it had a couple more tanning beds but that’s a little first world complaint!

In closing, do not ever sign a contract without careful review it might seem monotonous but it will save you the confusion and prevent blame shift later onto the gym.

This place is the worst. I sign my daughter up for basic membership. Somehow they sign me up for premium that I never ask for and charge me $25.99. When I went up there to talk to the manager he told me I should had look at the package I had sign up. Trust them to do right but it’s my fault not looking over before leaving the place. So I want to cancel the premium package and sign her up for the basic. They told me I had to cancel the premium and pay for a new sign up fee. The Gym is great for what it is, but my friend recently got kicked out for “trying to be a personal trainer” when all he was trying to do was showing a certain way an exercise could be done to where it wouldn’t hurt as much. You basically cannot have workout partner. I’m friends with this dude and I know how to workout I personally told him the exercise was hurting and tried to see if he knew what was wrong. Like what is he supposed to do? Look at his friends do an exercise wrong and possibly hurt themselves? It is absolutely ridiculous. I have never in my life encountered anything that aggregious. And when my friend tried to come in and talk it out with the person that kicked him out, he wouldn’t even meet him face to face. Very disappointing.

I have been going to this gym since it first opened up. 4 years consistent and never had a problem woth anyone there until sam showed up and started harrasing me and me friends for working out together. He said we were “training” eachother. He said hes been watching us (what a creepy thing to say) and saw us train. Apparently if you go this gym with a more than one friend you’re considered as a trainer. Just a heads up if you go with a friend make sure to not exercise together otherwise Sam (the trainer) will say you’re training each other and kick you out for breach of contract. Gym has the worst customer service. I have called to cancel my membership 2 times in the past year and gone once in person. I said CLEARLY, I don't want my membership to renew for the 2023 year. They said to come in person to the club and they can turn auto renew off. Easy right? Come next year I'm still getting charged for a new year of club fees and membership in 2023 even though they said it wouldn't renew for 2023. I call their billing service Abcfitness Solutions (who are even more snakey) and they said I had to ALSO provide a 30-day cancel notice after I had already requested to cancel auto-renew, because turning off auto renew doesn't do anything supposedly. YOU CAN'T CANCEL YOUR MEMBERSHIP FOR JACK AT THIS CLUB. Don't give them your billing info or they'll keep draining you until you end up in court.

I personally liked the gym and the environment but what killed it for me and led to me cancelling my membership was the new GM coming in and outlawing tripods/recording in the gym. As someone who has to send videos to my coach who lives states away, it became very inconvenient to work out there. I tried to come to a compromise with the manager there but alas rules are rules.

I have gone to this gym for nearly a year. At the time I signed up I was 16 now 17. I had come to club4 because of its close proximity and relatively non-expensive membership. When I signed up I selected the old $17 a month membership, which had included the 24/7 package. I could rather go before work or after during the summer. The reason I’m giving one star is because, at the time I am writing this(3/19), I was turned away from the door by the, what I’ve been told, GM. He had explained that I can no longer have 24/7 access due to my age and only hours that are staffed. This wouldn’t be a problem, but I have work till 7 and school obligations that I need to take care of before I work out. There’s nothing in the details of what I signed that explains that I cannot have 24/7, especially when I pay for that feature. The details are filled with double standards. So after writing this I will be canceling my membership due to the started details and me not being able to come if I could with other obligations.

I had a premium account purchased from the homewood location. I moved to Inverness and attempted to go to that Gym and I was informed I would need to upgrade to access the new location. I assumed I signed up for the basic membership, but they potentially did not see it correctly, or lied. They then created me a secondary account under my middle name. And double charged me for 4 months.

I canceled my member ship in April 2022, and they have been charging my debit account since April 2022 for the secondary account. Totaling hundreds of dollars. After double charging me for no reason before. I called there various locations, Managers, general managers, you name it. After being shuffled around and having to call 5+ times, It is resolved. They also ghost me when I attempted to get a refund of the charges wrongfully pulled from my account.

Needless to say I will never, ever be involved with this company again.

The 1st impression is not so impressive. I signed up for this gym recently ONLY because of yoga and Zumba classes supposed to be available at this location. I was told that when I signed up for membership. Only after I learned that these classes are not regular on the schedule. The option to pay per class visit and not be a member is not available, even though I cannot do much actual gym training due to back injury.
From my experience, they don't notify you if the class is cancelled (I do have their app installed for that). So if you don't live close (like me) be prepared to waste your time driving for nothing. It happened with me twice of my 1st membership week. Even though I called the day before to confirm.

Great workout facility, but I do feel as thought I was racially profiled.

I’ve been going to this gym for over a year now. I’ve seen caucasian teens at this gym using workout equipment that was between 12-17 years of age on numerous occasions. I’ve confirmed their ages because I’ve had conversations with a few of the individuals.

I brought my nephew here today, who is 14 and black. I was told that he can’t be in the building at all. I asked if he could sit in the sitting area, and I was told that he could not be in the sitting area. I then asked if I could buy a day pass or even enroll him in a membership. But Bailey Wilder, who I was informed is the general manager, claimed that the policy is that only individuals over the age of 18 can be in the facility.

As I previously stated, this is a great fitness facility that can and will cater to all of your fitness needs. But I believe that if you’re going to have a policy, enforce it with all races, and not only when people of color come to use the facility.

One of their personal trainers Ashlyn gave a girl I know Rhabdomyolysis after her first session and now they won’t cancel her membership or refund her personal trainer package even though that’s all she’s asking for. Speaks volumes. Will never go to this gym and will highly recommend others avoid it.

I love this gym. I recently came by and bought a day pass, as I am just in town visiting family, and to say I was blown away would be an understatement. Upon walking in the gym I was instantly greeted by a young man named Bailey and a very sweet young brunette girl. I told them I would only be in town for a week and just needed a day pass and fully expected pay for the day and part ways there but Bailey made something as simple as a day pass a wonderfully personal experience. He gave a tour of the entire facility, asked what what my workout regime consisted of and pointing me in the direction of equipment I usually use. Overall it was a wonderful experience and a great first impression and I have definitely found the gym where I'll be going anytime I'm back in Birmingham.

GM does whatever he wants with members memberships. Very unprofessional environment. I have never been treated with such disrespect from someone who’s supposed to be in a leadership position of a business.

In addition… if you train hard or with any kind of intensity they will threaten to cancel your membership. Club4 discriminates against powerlifters and bodybuilders. Don’t let them trick you into thinking it’s a gym for everyone. It’s a glorified planet fitness. Very unprofessional gym with even worse upper management. The regional director is always on a power trip and treats his employees like trash.

Neat and clean place, friendly and accommodating staff.
The gym is open 24/7 which is a big plus. The gym is equipped with all the necessary equipment, it should be noted that in this gym training with free weights is possible, unlike some gyms where it is not available.
Definitely a recommendation.

Great spot. Usually there in the mornings. Megan at the front desk is always welcoming. Have been a couple times in the evenings and it’s busier as expected, but the space is large enough for it not to be a detractor. Great gym.

I've been going to this gym since it opened and the equipment is always working properly, facilities clean, and the staff and manager are always friendly. I've had nothing but good experiences here! My only compliant is the groups of young students that hog equipment or play around, which is nothing in the facilities' control. Mike, the current manager, is always kind and helpful with any questions or issues!

Hands down the best gym in Birmingham! After searching for years to find a gym I could call home, I finally found Club 4. Extremely friendly staff who genuinely care about each and every one of their members. Exceptionally clean facility and bathrooms. The staff/trainers have provided such an incredible environment that I never dread going to workout, I actually look forward to it every day. Everyone is so encouraging and so knowledgeable. The way the staff/trainers have spaced the machines out allows you to get a great workout in without ever feeling too crowded. I am more than satisfied with my decision to join this gym and will absolutely continue recommending this gym to all of my friends and family!

My son enrolled at this gym using my credit card. He moved out of the Birmingham area and tried to cancel his membership. He went to the gym in person to cancel and he was told to cancel online. However, he was unable to cancel online because Club4 Fitness provided inaccurate information regarding his agreement number. This gym uses several entities for billing, so not only am I paying a monthly membership fee, but it is being collected no less than two times a month. I have tried several ways to stop this process, but I have been unable to do so. This MUST BE ILLEGAL. My next step in to contact the better business bureau and then a lawyer. This is so much trouble. STAY AWAY. This is a criminal organization

Gym has everything you need when it comes to equipment, staff is decent, mostly friendly. I love the support of military, EMS and police displayed in the lobby. One complaint, they can’t really change is THIS GYM STAYS PACKED! 24/7…weekends, holidays, rain storms, zombies. It’s a very young crowd as well, lots of tight short shorts and Instagram models. “If U WaNNA hANG 4 a Cull LIfT aFTEr Skool Brah” this is your place, but if you’re older, try somewhere else honestly.

Good for an inexpensive gym. They do charge and extra $2 a month on your bill each time. They also charged me once or twice a random fee that they couldn’t really explain when I asked. Said it was because I typed my member number wrong when editing my account… So, a little crooked as far as billing goes. They do a good job keeping the gym clean. The free weight area is really nice. The spin classes aren’t good. I joined the gym for the spin classes and was pretty disappointed. There aren’t many in person classes available so you usually go to virtual recorded classes which just aren’t the same. Also, this gym is extremely popular so it’s usually packed.

I LOVE this gym. The machines are the best in the area as far as quality and diversity. Everything is spread out. Clean. Love the people! It’s open 24-7. Price is ridiculously reasonable. And when we joined it was the best music!!! BUT lately... it’s awful 80s rock like EVERY other gym in America. It’s terrible! I used to love coming here. It was my favorite two hours of my day... now I hate it. Seriously cannot eye roll enough.

Great place to work out. Jamila Greene and Davina Bell are two outstanding fitness instructors. Jamila Greene has a great rpm indoor cycling class. Davina Bell teaches Zumba on Wednesdays, as well as Thursday evening. Faculty is new. Great massage chairs. Helpful personal trainers.

I love this gym! I am greeted with a smile every time I go in, and told to have a good day when I leave. The gym is large, and has plenty of equipment, any wait is minimal, but it is only because of social distancing. The staff has always been pleasant, professional., and eager to help. Ok- it’s a good gym with nice equipment. But it’s extremely unprofessional. The employees don’t wear masks and the childcare area seems to be unprofessional. The free weight room is nice and the locker rooms are clean. The cycling room is alright- there are virtual classes pretty much only, which is just a recording of some le mills classes. It’s an inexpensive gym, which is nice. But poor quality.

This stuff is amazing and super friendly and the facility is GREAT. By looking at the gym you would expect to pay a very high membership price but the memberships are extremely affordable. I had an issue with billing and the staff was very attentive and very willing to help me even though it was my mistake (I thought I was charged twice).

Cancel my membership because of rude employees then to top it off I get charge with $89 with no explanation. I had to keep calling the manager John to keep reminding him about my refund. Do not get a membership at this gym. They will scam you.
