Wish I could give this gym zero stars. My husband and I bought a membership several years ago and used our card to auto-draft payments for the 6 month contract. When the contract was almost ready to end, my husband went in the gym and told the front desk employees personally he wanted to cancel his membership. They told him that when the contract ran out his contract would not be renewed unless he renewed it and the charges would stop. A month after the contact was up , he noticed a charge for the gym. He called and the employees at the front desk stated that it would be taken care of that it must have been an oversight and no more charges would come out. NOTHING was mentioned about giving cancellation in writing during either of the conversations l. We were also NOT informed when we signed up for 6 month membership that it must be cancelled in writing. These drafts were coming out of an old account that we switched to paperless statements so the auto drafts went unnoticed for a long span.
Fast forward to last week when checking on the account and noticed it has been auto drafted for over 2 years after we were told it was cancelled. I contacted the manager and she states nothing can be done. I asked if she had record of the last time we checked into the gym and it was over 2 years ago. She sent me a copy of the contract. The contract is for 6 months. It has an expiration date on when the contract is up after the 6 months. In the box about cancellation must be done in writing it looks like it was auto checked. We did not check or agree to that. This is a scam to do this. There is record that we have not used the gym since that 6 months was up. Why sell a membership under the pretense of 6 months when you plan to draft someone’s bank account for life if you can get away with it? This is not good business. I asked the manager to let the owner know to call me, I have not yet heard back from them. If you have had this happen to you, I suggest filing a complaint with the better business bureau.

If you're looking for a gym with a weight selection that would make Atlas reconsider his life choices, Doc’s Gym is your place. I usually like to show off my muscles by lifting every weight in sight, but Doc’s has so many weights, I felt like I was in a never-ending episode of “The Price Is Right” with dumbbells. I got halfway through and had to call for a rescue team to find my way out. It’s the only gym where you might need a map, a compass, and a Sherpa to guide you through the labyrinth of iron. If you're up for the challenge of lifting your spirits (and all those weights), Doc’s Gym is where it’s at!

It's nice enough. It's not crowded at the time I usually go. I think that older people and those with mobility issues would find it disappointing to have to climb a flight of stairs if some of the equipment on the 1st floor are occupied. I think there are a few machines that could be added also. It's good for what I'm currently doing though.

BEWARE!!! this is NOT a 24 hr gym!!!!!!!! you have access to the building 24hrs but not all the equipment, no cardio equipment access after a certain hour. They will not tell you this..... Shouldn't advertise 24hr service and not offer it.... POORLY managed!!

The only way to cancel your membership is to snail mail a letter saying you want to terminate, and even then it won't be cancelled for 30 days (allowing the gym to continue charging you). They will continue charging after the duration of the contract and send a collection agency after you. Get a membership ANYWHERE else.

I love Dr Butler and this gym but will not go here again or recommend. We have always signed a 6 month contract and that was it. Now they state they use a billing service and that it just renews without notice and you have to notify in writing to cancel. Then they charged again and I called and said even after canceling it will take 30 days! Even charged during covid when gym was closed. They little teen who signed us up never told us this during registration! Thanks for making a great gym a bad place to do business!

Have been going for two years. Suddenly, out of nowhere, they change their family plan policy so that all in the family must live under the same roof. If I'm paying my membership fees and am using the card given to me, what does it matter? The one in Lexington was awesome and we loved Wendy. Rogersville...well, not so much.
