I highly recommend Gulf Coast Dance Alliance to any dancer who strives to become better! As with any discipline… It takes hard work! Mentally, and physically, students will have to break down bad habits and create new ones. The staff at GCDA are prepared to help students to their best of their abilities whether it be recreational dancers or those who strive for professional dance careers. I have witnessed incredible transformations over the years that I have been associated with GCDA.

My daughter danced at GCDA for several years. My wife and I are thankful for her excellent training. I'd definitely recommend this studio.

Gulf Coast Dance Alliance truly shaped me into the dancer I am today. ALL of the staff are so incredibly talented and care about their students immensely. My technique got SO much better and my appreciation for certain genres grew tremendously. I made the Auburn University dance team BECAUSE of Gulf Coast. Melissa Covo became my mom away from home. She cared for me outside of dance - she would come to my high school football games to see me cheer. She even came all the way to Auburn to watch me dance a few times. I don’t have enough good things to say about her and her amazing family. If you’re looking for a studio for your daughter or son, Gulf Coast is the best choice. You won’t regret it!

My experience at Gulf Coast has been one consisting of nothing but positive growth. I am a current junior considering how I want to continue my dance career and, because of the training I have received here, I am prepared for any career path I choose. Whether I decide to audition for a college dance team, join a professional dance company, or pursue a career completely unrelated to dance, this studio has taught me life skills that will allow me to succeed in any area. Gulf Coast has remained consistent in training our team to its fullest potential season after season, no matter the negativity from others. Here, it is really about teamwork and seeing improvement in ourselves and our team. The focus at Gulf Coast is not on who won what, for it is on the work that goes into becoming great dancers. This studio is my family and it hurts to see others speak so negatively about something myself and so many others have invested our blood, sweat, and tears into.

My child has attended GCDA recreationally and competitively for the past 13 years. Ownership and instructors truly strive to instill the art and technicality of dance from beginner to elite while also making the experience enjoyable for students and parents. Many friendships made along the way no doubt the best studio around.

What a disappointment!!! We were hoping to gain an amazing experience in dance for our niece, but were met with both unprofessionalism and a total disregard for the art. PSA: you should find another studio for your kids!!!

Highly recommend! My girls have enjoyed their time at GCDA since 2015. They have grown so much in their dance technique from the excellent training provided at GCDA. We initially chose GCDA because of the options to learn dance recreationally as well as an option to enter the dance competition world. The preschool ages are exposed to multiple genres in the preschool class (ballet, tap, jazz). As the dancers progress in their abilities and age, they are able to select from a variety of class options (modern, hip hop, acro, pointe). We choose to stay at GCDA as my dancers now call it their second home and the dance teachers and other dancers are their extended family. The ballet teacher focuses on technique, discipline, and growth. All the dance teachers have a vested interest in the students to learn and grow, not only as a dancer, but also as a person. They are also approachable for any communication/ concerns a parent or dancer wants to address. (As a parent, I default to the expertise of those that have the training and expertise as a dance teacher/ choreographer/ studio owner but feel comfortable to approach with questions as they arise.) When we decided to join Company (the competitive team), we were informed by the studio owners of expenses, expectations, focus on the team over the individual, and goals for the season. Any athletic sport has its ups and downs for the athlete. My dancers are no different. There are classes they excel and classes they struggle. There are competitions where they feel that they did a great performance and others where they recognize the struggle. They have learned to be humble winners and gracious losers. They have also learned how to accept constructive criticism and apply that to their training and growth. These 'soft skills' will carry forward with them throughout their lives. We love GCDA and the dance family we have there.
Other benefits of GCDA- Yes, boys dance also! Safety over risky progression of skills. Marley dance floor (to protect those young, growing bodies, knees, ankles, feet).
If your are considering dance for your child, there is not a better place than GCDA!

I've witnessed first hand the coercion and manipulation exhibited by the owners and ballet teacher. Please keep your children safe and stay away from this place. I am so happy my granddaughters are thriving at another local studio.

My two daughters moved to Gulf Coast Dance Alliance the first year they opened, 2011. The quality of the instruction blew us away, and we knew we had made the right decision. Over the years, we have been continually impressed with the excellent instructors, who give individualized attention. This studio is on a par with big city opportunities that you won't find anywhere else in Baldwin County. As a mom, I have appreciated the professionalism and attention to detail displayed by the owners. Thank you for adding so much to my girls' lives.

I can’t speak highly enough about Gulf Coast Dance Alliance. From the moment we walked in, we felt welcomed by the friendly staff and instructors. The atmosphere is vibrant and energetic. The instructors are not only incredibly talented but also passionate about what they do, which shines through in their teaching. Whether you’re a beginner or advanced dancer, there’s something for everyone here. I’ve seen tremendous improvement in both my girls skills, and they always leave each class feeling inspired and motivated. If you’re looking for a supportive and empowering dance community, look no further than GCDA!!

GCDA is the best studio to go to in the Gulf Coast. Growing up as a dancer I have traveled to many different studios and there are not many that are able to provide opportunities and training to students to help them grow as a dancer, but GCDA has always shown to be a studio that does so. The training given to dancers there is a great foundation to provide them with the knowledge to go out into the dance world and succeed. They have always welcomed me with open arms and provided a family like environment. Not only is the staff at the studio amazing but the family behind the name! The Covo’s are the most humble, giving people and I trust them to provide a great space for children to learn!

My family has been with GCDA from the very beginning in 2011. My 3 girls have all had wonderful experiences at this studio and consider it our extended family. My oldest daughter danced at GCDA until she graduated high school. She now has a BFA in Dance Education from Southern Miss and teaches dance at a wonderful studio and performs with a pre-professional dance company in Florida. We owe the training, support and inspiration she received from GCDA for so much of her success. My youngest was in diapers when GCDA first started and now she is on her 9th year as a competitive dance team member. I could not be more proud of her and the training she continues to receive from the top-notch staff here! I truly could not imagine our life without our GCDA family!

I have nothing but positive praises! I danced at GCDA for 6 years and the skills learned there were far more than dance steps. I was poured into by the most educated of instructors on the eastern shore; not only were they thorough teaching artists, but admirable mentors in my life outside of the studio. I graduated GCDA a well-rounded dancer AND HUMAN, extremely prepared for anything the world threw at me (especially the dance world). I am now a professional dancer and think back fondly on my time with the studio. I teach my current students many lessons learned from my GCDA family, and can only hope that they graduate with similar feelings.

As a former company member and now teacher at Gulf Coast Dance Alliance, I can confidently say that this studio fosters a welcoming and positive environment for dancers of all levels.

I started at Gulf Coast Dance Alliance my freshman year of high school. I had been taking dance from the age of two but was ready to take the next step in my dance training. Compared to other studios I attended, GCDA offerers instruction in a wide variety of dance styles, catering to the diverse interests and talents of its students making sure they receive the best possible training.

Gulf Coast Dance Alliance has provided me a strong foundation for dance. Melissa Covo, Carlos Covo and all the teachers/staff have worked hard to create a caring environment in which dancers feel comfortable in. The studio truly focuses on building character and nurturing the growth of its dancers. The teachers here genuinely care about the needs and aspirations of each individual dancer, providing personalized attention and guidance to help them reach their full potential.

With all that GCDA has taught me I was able to accomplish a big goal of mine. I am currently a part of The University of South Alabama Prowlers Dancer Team and could not have done this without the love, support, time, and training GCDA displayed towards me. They truly care about the needs for their dancers and will do anything and everything in their power to help inspire and encourage young dancers.

Overall, Gulf Coast Dance Alliance is more than just a dance studio; it's a community where dancers can thrive and grow both as artists and individuals. I am grateful for my experience here as both a student and now a teacher, and I highly recommend this studio to anyone looking for a supportive and encouraging dance education.

Both of my daughters danced at GCDA from elementary through high school. The dance education was phenomenal, and provided them with a firm foundation in art, movement, and personal expression. The mutual respect between the students and teachers was obvious to all, from community members to other studio owners from around the region. The business practices at GCDA were completely transparent, with studio policies in writing and an online platform that was kept up-to-date for me to check our account and rehearsal or performance schedules at any time. We participated in both regular classes and dance company, with travelling to competitions across the southeast. I enjoyed having the opportunity for my children to be mentored- not just in dance, but also in life skills - by Melissa Covo and her staff. She diligently tried to keep the drama out of the studio, even if it meant parting ways with a dancer, employee, or parent-volunteer who didn't fulfill commitments for class schedules, rehearsals, finances, etc. Melissa and her staff are highly educated professionals who provide skilled instruction in dance arts, teamwork, responsibility, and so many other life skills. I am thankful for our family's experiences at GCDA.

My experience as a dancer at GCDA was incredible! The teachers I was able to learn from at GCDA were the best on the gulf coast. I grew not only as a dancer, but as a person, during my time at GCDA. Melissa and her staff are the best of the best!

My daughter has danced here since the age of 2. She’s now 8 and won’t stop dancing. It’s such a blessing to have a studio like GCDA in our community. Dance classes in so many styles offered, even acro classes. You won’t find another studio around like it. You will find a focus on technique, artistry, increased confidence, camaraderie at GCDA.
