This PF is falling apart and started a year ago. They hired all staff that’s way over weight and it shows in the gym maintenance. Bathroom is dirty, half the paper towel station is out on the gym floor, spray bottles half full, gym equipment less picked up. These bigger staff are always sitting on the counter and with their legs on it while the thinner employees do all the work.
I’m going to go where Max works now and that’s at riverchase. He knows how to keep a PF perfect.

This is my home gym location for PF. Gym quality gone down dramatically after Max left or even after Brian left afterwards.
This is from the cleanness, staff friendliness. I changed my gym location to Riverchase where Max works now. My goodness that gym use to be a hole in a wall and now it’s better than the Irondale location.

Was member since 2018. Max was the manager back then and he was great. You could always get a straight answer. Brian was the same, easy to talk to and get an informative response. The new manager Lisa, not so much. Previously my membership was free through my former company. Once my former employer quit paying for the membership, I went in multiple times to figure out what I needed to do, and if I could pay for the membership in full so that I wouldn’t have to deal with the monthly account debit. The answers I received were not very good, nor concise. If you ask, can you pay in full, why get a response around the monthly cost? In a nutshell, if I have to pay for my membership, I definitely want a competent manager that can answer a few basic questions. 24 hour fitness is more expensive, but that’s my new gym.
Bring back Max or Brian, or at least someone that will listen to the question prior to formulating an answer. It’s interesting because several of the members at 24 hour fitness are former planet fitness members. Customer service has become a lost art, or maybe corporate culture no longer makes it a priority. In any case, I won’t spend my hard earned retirement cash with planet fitness. After 7 years of membership the place is in a downward spiral, in my opinion.

Everyone is very helpful and nice. It is unfortunate that the later it gets it seems the less the club is maintained. Papertowls and sprays need checked and replaced at all hours . Multiple dispensers are empty in the evenings. No one wants to walk all the way across the gym for a paper towel so unfortunately things seem to just get not cleaned Or I see patrons reusing the same paper towel over and over again on all the machinery which is not sanitary either. Other than that, I see no issues.

The staff is friendly, but the location just feels tight and crowded. (Edit:) To clarify it's not the crowd that gives the gym this feel it's the remodel. So much space is dedicated to cardio machines and the few weight machines left are awkwardly positioned. They're are some duplicates of machines, but for many it's not the same machine brand so they all feel completely different.

Not the first time this location has disappointed. The women's showers are pathetic. The first shower I tried never, ever got warm. The second one almost made it to warm. I ran the water a few minutes to wait for it to get warm before I got in. It was NEVER hot. It's like they have the temperature turned down to keep people from using the showers or to save money or something. The water pressure was poor on all of the showers. My husband said luke warm was the best he could get as well. The men working on the front desk were kind and said they would put in a work order. Also, the person at the front desk was very knowledgeable about how to do a guest pass which we have been coming for about 3 or 4 years now and no one had ever told us that we needed a special registered guest pass for me. EDIT- that was 2 months ago. Today March 29, 2025. NO HOT water in ladies showers!!!!!! still!!!!!!!!!!

I'm really displeased with the gym since they "upgraded" it! They took out a lot of equipment and seemingly replaced them with more cardio equipment! It's always so dark in there! There's always a new person behind the desk and I don't know anyone there anymore! I used to come and train there 4 days a week. Now, I travel all the way to Hoover. The trainer at Hoover is AWESOME! The "Trainer" at Crestline..🤷🏽‍♀️! I just don't like it there anymore! It's good that another gym is opening in the area!

I froze my account...they kept withdrawing a fee. I canceled my account...they are STILL taking money out of my bank account! Give me my $50(so far) back!

Now it's November and no one is even lifting a finger to give me my $50 back. I had to put a stop payment on my bank account to keep you from taking more money. Your system is corrupt. And I'll keep writing bad reviews until I am reimbursed. You'll have to send me a check. Because you are NOT getting my account number. Just visited since I rejoined a few months ago. I used the thread mill and was looking forward to use other equipment and lo and behold! There was a female employee behind the counter eating fried chicken, her plate on the customer service counter, and greasy fingers trying to I guess accommodate my request.
Looking to transfer membership to another location or join another gym.
The young man at the counter was very nice but, that female employee convinced me to RUN OUT of there.

The other reviews are right - the remodel has been a downgrade. The main issue is that they took away a significant amount of weightlifting machine including some of the popular duplicates. A whole row of machines at the front. Some of the areas are now more spaced out but everyone is just hovering waiting for one of the limited machines to open up. The layout isn’t as logically organized and feels like they just chucked stuff in the furthest areas without much thought. Oh and god help you if your headphones die, I’m almost impressed by how bad the music is.

Visited the gym only to be disappointed by there being only one of every machine. I guess they updated it…no MTS machines. More dumbbells and barbells. At the counter there were several people asking for a transfer. A lot of open spaces where there used to be equipment. The management there suggested corporate be made aware of the displeasure with the new set up. Maybe they’re transitioning to close eventually.

Used to be great. After the remodel it is a complete downgrade in every way. This is now the worst Planet Fitness in the area. I'm sincerely hoping this is not the completed remodel because more than half the machines have been removed and not replaced. There are large empty areas and gaps where equipment used to be, holes all along the walls where signs were taken down but not patched, and maybe 2-3 pieces of equipment that weren't previously available.

Examples being:
- Almost every strength machine has had their duplicate removed. If you were tired of waiting for machines to free up before, it's going to be worse.
- Some machines have disappeared completely, so you better figure out how to do their dumbbell equivalent.
- The "new" equipment looks the exact same. It's not even upgraded minus some newer-looking handles.
- Some of the "new" equipment is already broken.
- They removed the 30 minute workout area, but didn't change the flooring. So the center of the area has obvious discolored spots throughout.

This is the saddest excuse for an upgrade I've seen. I feel terrible for the staff that have to deal with this aftermath because there's no way that anyone who has ever stepped foot in this gym had anything to do with the remodel.

bro, i woke up this morning seen that money was taken out of my bank account from planet fitness. i immediately spazzed out and tried to cancel on the app, when i was directed to visit the store location to cancel. so i said cool, i got up 8am on my off day, OFF DAY, to go to the store, got on the interstate there was a wreck that caused a 1 hour stand still literally, so im already irritated, the traffic finally clears it’s like 9:45 when i get to the location. i see treadmills and shit all out in the parking lot and then it’s a small piece of paper on their window saying, “closed reopen 8/19” i immediately went off, immediately because not only do i have to come all the way to the store just to cancel something that DIDNT REQUIRE NO STORE WHEN I SUBSCRIBED, i sat in 1 hour TRAFFIC for this, just to GET there and they CLOSED WITHOUT ANY NOTICE ANYWHERE but on the damn front door like are you serious??? the google says they open, when i was calling no one was answering nor did any message on the phone state that they were closed so all of this is just SUPER unprofessional and im irritated! i want my money BACK and im not even playing, this was the ONE off day i had, so i FINALLY had time to visit the store, just for this bs to happen. i want my money back and no im not coming back up there, and im not sending no mail none of that, cause this is ridiculous and was a colossal waste of my time. it didn’t take all these steps when i made this bs, it shouldn’t take all that to cancel, seriously that’s mad weird!!

I can only work out in the mornings before work, and there have been lots of mornings where I couldn’t work out because nobody was there yet to open the gym and I didn’t have enough time to drive to the next nearest Planet Fitness. I rarely leave reviews when I have bad experiences but this one really irritated me & should come as a customer service teaching moment for this employee. I come to the workers desk & patiently stood there. I observed this man talking with Ellie (worker) & showing her pictures on his phone. As someone who’s worked in customer service I’m like okay no worries, I’m sure she’ll wrap it once she sees me. Ellie looked up at me and looked back down at this man’s phone, never saying anything to me. Theeennn I was like oh fr , okay. I could hear this man talking about a car and other various things to Ellie, THAT COULD HAVE BEEN PLACED ON HOLD. I waited 4 more minutes before I stepped closer to them. Ellie never acknowledged me , I abruptly stopped their convo & asked to please cancel my membership. She then realized she had another customer waiting , almost the same amount of time I was waiting. She never apologized for the wait, which I would have been totally chill with & never even made this review. Idk , just disappointed with the customer service. I spent 30 minutes in here for something that was done in less than 5. Ellie , please do better love bug.
