Based on my personal experience, I strongly discourage African Americans from working out at this location. One of the managers, Paul, demonstrated behavior that I perceived as racist, prejudiced, and discriminatory. This was one of the most negative and uncomfortable experiences I’ve ever had in a fitness environment. I recommend taking your business elsewhere to avoid similar treatment.It’s really unfortunate that establishments don’t take into account the personality of someone that they hire.

I'm a student using my summer pass and this is a great place to come work out let off some steam this is one of the most cleanest planet fitnesses I've ever seen my only problem is that with the drink machine for some reason it wouldn't detect my card and luckily the staff got me a water bottle but I need to remember to bring my water bottle overall I would recommend this place to anybody

I’ve given this company so much of my money FOR YEARS only to use their facilities for showering while traveling a handful of times. Now because they could not charge my card for a couple of months they want nearly 6 months of membership plus late fees for me to continue using the facilities. Seems silly for them to draw this line when they have made so much money from me and could continue making money from me. But you do you, I’ll go give Loves and Flying J $15-20 per shower before I pay this balance off because I also will draw that line. Thanks for nothing!

This is not for Madison Planet fitness this is for CORPORATE Planet fitness. We as members are tired of you giving kids a free membership in the summer. As paying customers it is outrageous that we have to wait on equipment while kids are occupying equipment while texting on phones, videoing themselves for social media and having no gym etiquette at the expense of paying members. I would love to see the research on how many kids get a membership vs how many paying customers leave for other gyms. Please stop this practice.

💯👍🏿Loved 😍 the gym it was a very busy atmosphere, however not even a week ago a young man with mental issues walked into a building down the street. A Woman Got shot in the face and he killed her. More security is needed to avoid having just anybody walking into the building up to the front. Need some kind of entry security maybe a code or a scanner bar with an employee over seeing the door . Now that you have reduced the cardio machines after the remodel, can the staff please inform members to not put towels on treadmills to "save" as they go workout for 30+ minutes. These treadmills need to be available for all members. Also can the staff please enforce the posted signs in the gym. Example, no gym bags on floor/cell phone conversations in lobby only. Thank you.

Canceled 2 membership months ago, just found out we're still being charged for 1 of those memberships. My wife went to facility to cancel again, and get refund for extra months charged. Front desk told her nothing could be done. Have called 3 consecutive days to speak to manager worth zero success. Front desk refuses to tell me when I can speak to a manager. Elise at the front desk told me that manager schedule was their private information and they weren't allowed to give private information. She also advised me that my wife and I were being rude for trying to get a refund, and we should just accept the fraudulent charges. When I told her I was going to record the conversation so that her manager could hear the way she was speaking to my wife and I she completely changed her tune and told us we could just speak to the manager. This place is a total and complete fraud! If you look online for the reviews multiple people have the exact same problem that I have, charging after cancellation. ***BUYER BE WARE***

Love it! Great price and it has everything I need for a good workout. Internet cuts off and I have a hard time keeping a connection at this location. I have limited Internet on my phone plan so it's important to be able to connect to the Internet to listen to music and podcasts while working out. Today it wouldn't connect and said connection has failed. Once again it won't connect fix the Internet. Your other ones don't have this problem but Madison's Internet sucks!

Terrible customer service. I walked in to tan, 2 black guys standing behind the counter, staring down at their phones. No welcome, no greeting, how you doin or anything. We didn't even make eye contact until I got to the counter and again no words whatsoever. I had to tell them I needed to tan, how long and in what type of bed. Not one word came from either of their lips as they continued to stare down at their phones. I'm old school, an older white guy and customer service is everything. You won't get it here. I believe customers come before gaming on your phone, checking your texts or emails. What do these guys do anyway? Get paid to stare at their cell phones all day? After I finished tanning, again, I went to the counter and not one word. No thank you for coming in, have a nice night ... NOTHING. Borderline rude but certainly not cut out for a customer service position. The gym itself is nice but they need to revamp their customer service dept. Welcome to post COVID customer service.

The people that come here are AWFUL! They hog the machines and just sit on their phones, or they hold the machines for their workout buddy and spend more time chatting than anything.. even though they know you’re waiting. It’s worse when machines are out of service, which is often. It’s become so frustrating to work out before work. I’m considering finding a new gym, but I’m thinking inconsiderate people are EVERYWHERE.

During my husband and my visit the manager was very disrespectful today and one of the employees just stood behind him feeling like it was OK to follow the manager when there aren't following the judgment free zone policy. I have frequented many Planet Fitness, but this week was my first time at the Madison, AL, location. I have to say, nice gym. The gym is huge, with what feels like a separate room just for leg day machines, ab machines, and some stair steppers. The staff was super friendly, too, and the facilities felt clean and tidy. My only complaint is that their stair steppers aren't the newer updated units, but that's a minor gripe, as I know stair steppers aren't for everyone.

I went to the establishment as a guest with my daughter. I have to tell you, it was nice and cold just as I expected it plus, absolutely clean! people are constantly cleaning the area. I picked a perfect time to go where it wasn't crowded at all. I had the machine all to myself in the circuit weights area. This is exactly what I wanted. I definitely will be joining this gym due to the fact that they have a hydrotherapy massage bed! You have to be a member to have that experience. that is something I've always wanted to do. I believe that would be a rewarding way to end every workout at Planet Fitness.....

This is a money hungry establishment. I have a 12 month membership which is already antiquated because who’s making their members lock into workout contracts these days but whatever I signed up because I like the classes and the sauna. But what grinds my gears is my kid is out of school for the holidays and she wanted to come workout at the gym so I’m thinking since I’m a member I can let my kid workout on a guest pass at no cost. I sign in and proceed to walk through with her and some gym vigilante literally comes from behind the desk to track me down and say that I have to pay for my 13 yo old work out. Me being shocked by the whole thing I ask like “oh ok so it’s not 1st time guests get in free or guests get in free like at planet fitness” and he crassly goes “no it’s not you can get her a student membership.” I’m like “she’s not in college she’s just 13” he goes “oh well she’s old enough to get a membership or you can pay $25 a week for a holiday pass.” Then he proceeds to point to the sign on the wall that says $15 dollars for non members and $10 for guests accompanied by a member. The whole exchange was a bit excessive and the crassness just put a bad taste in my mouth quite honestly. To not offer any incentives or at least a free gym workout for kids or new guests is ludacris to me. When I joined the guest costs weren’t communicated so I’m thinking they are like every other gym that has guest prices that make sense like FREE or $5 but they are definitely on a money grab.
