Great place to work out and swim. I have a special needs son and he often goes to the gym and pool with me. Everyone there is so nice to him. He and I swim together and then I usually life weights while he sits in the lobby area playing on his phone. He loves it and I no concerns with him being by himself. We love the YMCA.

We are Wisconsin YMCA members who frequently visit other facilities while traveling. This is the most poorly managed facility we have ever encountered, and by far the worst YMCA we have visited in the greater Huntsville area. We called on the morning of Friday August 8 to inquire about splash pad hours, and staff told us the splash pad would be open until 1 PM.
We arrived at noon and were told that due to a class in a different pool, the splash pad was actually closed. It wasn't clear why a class in an entirely separate pool required closing down the splash pad.
Because we'd traveled so far, front desk staff agreed to allow our children to play in the turned off splash pad area - but ONLY if they wore life vests. For clarity, we were planning to be with them the entire time. It is moronic to require life vests in six inches of water at all, and especially when the children are always within arm's reach of the parents. Six inches of water isn't even enough water for a child in a life vest to float in.
We weren't willing to force our children to wear life vests while we were right next to them, so we left and went to a different location with better staff and more reasonable rules.
If you have the luxury of choice, definitely consider visiting one of the other, better YMCAs in the Huntsville area.

At first, I loved it, but after having a negative experience with one of the staff members discussing the spin room, my perception changed. I understand the rule that no one under 12 years old is allowed, but my wife and I take turns using the rowing machine while the other watches our daughter.
I can't arrive earlier than 6:50 PM due to work commitments.
Additionally, I inquired about using the yoga room for stretching, warm-ups, and body exercises. However, I was told "no" because an instructor needs to be present to use it.
We have used both areas before and are familiar with the Rules of Use (ROLs) we signed.
I believe I understand the reason behind her treatment.

The gym is well-equipped and maintained so nicely. The best part of the YMCA is the sports and family programming. My kids play sports there all year round and we feel included and get lots of play time. We've been to a painting class and health events - love all the activities for my family!

Just wanted to shout out Victoria, the preschool swim instructor! My 3 year old has completed two (4 week) classes with Victoria so far and I couldnβt be more grateful to have had her as an instructor. She is truly AMAZING and her support staff are just as helpful! I would fully recommend her/ the swim program to any parents looking for safe, affordable, and fun swim lesson for their children!

We have had swim lessons here the past couple of weeks. The staff has been wonderful with this kids. My only issue is they play very loud music during the lessons and it is so hard for the kids to hear the instructors. Our instructor asked on several occasions for them to turn it down so the kids could hear. I just donβt think during swim lessons is a time for loud music. It is loud in there anyway with the echo and loud music could be a distraction and a safety issue for the lifeguards.

So i visited the place with a friend that has a membership and physical ID they refused to take any form of digital ID from me the guest by saying βWe need to run background checks for the childrenβ didnβt think i was applying for a job and implying itβs for the children is disgusting treating paying customers like predators!

It has been a place where you bring your family to come exercise and join the group workout. I personally prefer a more equipped Pilates center. Overall, itβs not a bad place to come work out. But they have been raising their membership price and I find it hard to adjust since the new updated swimming pool seems alright. If they want to keep raising their membership price each year, I might as well just go to a more personalized studio.

Visited here last month. Good facilities and have a lot of options like a bike class, basketball court, pool, hot tub, sauna, steam room, etc. Although if you are an advanced lifter, properly not the best gym. I was able to get my work in and joined the cycle class the second day. Will be back again.

My family is here every day. My kids have grown up in childcare. I enjoy the community events they put on. Other newer facilities may feel nicer but I'm pretty low maintenance when it comes to a gym. It's great for our needs and affordable. We use pool, childcare, classes, gym equipment. I only wish there were an outdoor pool and then I wouldn't have to buy a $500 membership at a community pool.

Have been a member for a few years, and went in to bring my wife in to be a guest for the day and potentially sign up for the family membership. However, we were met by a snide front desk clerk. She didnβt have her ID which was in the car, and so she had to go get it and on her way out the front desk employee made sure to let it be known that her outfit was not appropriate. She was wearing standard gym clothing, that she bought from a CHRISTIAN website. It was tights and a crop top gym shirt. However the case, I cancelled my membership. This facility is by far the worse of the 3 in the area. My wife is not white, and funny enough I have not seen many people of color in there. In my opinion there is no use for the front desk staff. Most gyms replace them with a kiosk. Kiosk arenβt condescending and know how to watch their tone and inflection. I will never be back to this YMCA. Funny enough I have relatives that are pretty big donors for this facility. I spoke with them about it and they also lost a donor. If any type of management reads this, personally I am a business manager for a local business, and if you wonder why you are losing members and donors, this is why.

I want to find a YMCA that we donβt get sick at! So far my feet bleed from the rotting pool floors and my toddler gets hand foot and mouth and vomits. I could use water shoes but I just donβt think they clean the pools well, I really donβt think so.
Ok, so I wonβt be back at this location. I consider myself laid back and understanding but i wonβt be back at this location.

I'm only posting this because there was no email that was sent out stating that the policy was changing. I've been doing a WERQ class with my friend here who is a member, paying $10 a class. I usually only go twice a month because I live about 25 minutes away and not worth paying the monthly membership fee when I can't go everyday. We show up for the class (of course we carpooled) and as I was getting ready to pay, I was told the policy had changed that exact day. Then she asked for my name, looked at the computer (probably noting how many times I had paid for classses) and told me that I was not able to attend the class, due to the fact that people were just paying for the classes and not joining. I was also told that the reason for this policy was to control the volume of people coming in during the Summer however, it was not summertime yet. Being military, they do give a military discount, which is very generous and greatly appreciated. I believe it's $55/month. So even if I came 4 times a month, they would only lose $5. So, why not just raise the prices to attend the class as a non-member?
I don't care if you change your policy, as a company owner I understand you need to adjust your policies in order to profit. In my opinion, a statement sent out to the members and non-members stating that the policy is changing would have been the more professional route to go.
So, since I had an hour to spare waiting for my friend to get done with the class, I decided to write this review. If I wanted non-members to join, I sure wouldn't turn them away at the door if they wanted to attend a class. I would, at the very least, explain the situation and inform the person this would be the last time they would be able to attend the class as a non-member.
I hope you change the policies and procedures on how to address non-members. If I had one last warning I probably would have joined. Instead, I was told I had to pay $66 that day, or I couldn't attend the class. Oh, and she would waive the sign up fee!

Would give 0 Stars if possible. Just moved back into the area and wanted to try it out with a friend and come as there guest one time to see if I like it. Get told soon as I come in with my friend they are not allowing guest until June 1st which is totally fine but the way she comes off saying it. I come back well over June 1st to try it finally and get told they had a meeting and are not doing guest for the month of June. Just wish there was a sign or woulda let me known back then. Just sad that I asked "well if I sign up right now and don't come as a guess can I use the facility" and get told yes absolutely. Just seems like a cash grab to be honest.

Always nice employees, but the building is very old and feels dirty. I remember going here when I was a kid, nearly 20 years ago, and nothing has changed. I prefer the downtown location even though this location is closer to my house. It is much smaller, but much nicer. Being a member of the YMCA isn't cheap so I think it is fair to have higher expectations.

I would like to see it open later and that they arenβt rushing you to get out....

There was not a sign up Friday when I dropped my kid off at kid care, but soon returning 2 hours later. There where 2 signs posted. One was for scabies and some other disease that was i cannot pronounce in child care. When I went to pick her up the staff tried to say the sign was there the whole time when it was not. My child was due for surgery and if I saw the sign I never would have left her. A man at the YMCA called me denying to me that there was never any signs.

The staff is always friendly and informative (or willing to find the answer if they don't know). The child watch areas are clean, well-maintained, and (almost) all of the workers are happy to be there. They have a Mom's Morning Out program that is as affordable as it is fantastic. The equipment is kept in working order and wiped down regularly by both patrons and staff. The family and 18+ women's locker rooms are kept clean. The sauna and steam rooms are a nice touch after a hard workout. Group classes can get crowded depending on their popularity but the instructors are awesome! There are separate pools for lap, aerobics, and children-complete with multiple splash pads! I would highly recommend this facility!

Their after school program is horrible. Their councilors are more concerned with being on their cell phones and eating than actually paying attention to the children for a total of 3 hours. They left my child by herself on a soccer field, thank goodness she had her cellphone and could call me. I am appalled that this is acceptable behavior to their program director.

It is always a pleasant experience to go to this YMCA. The place is clean, and the staff are friendly and helpful. It seems that others enjoy it also because smiles abound. It doesn't matter if I am working on the machines, going to yoga or water aerobics, it is totally enjoyable. I hate to miss a day. The children love the child care facility and are eager to go also. For the amount it costs to be a member, I'd expect this location to be revamped to look like the new location in Madison.
The gym is incredibly small and there's not enough machines or space. Plus, I've noticed hardly anyone (including the members) wipes or sanitizes the machines. It should be practiced because I've seen some pretty sweaty people. Definitely turned off to continue my membership.
