I was passing through town and dropped in for $9. I've studied yoga in depth for over 20 years and this was one of best class experiences I've ever had.

Ok so anyone who knows me would know I love yoga & I’m everywhere. That being said , this place didn’t hit for me even though it checked some of the things on my list that usually make me fall in love with a studio. I came in to do a double class drop jn , vinyasa- hot & vinyasa warm with soundbath . Overall it’s not going to be on my top10 places to yoga out here but I may be back for another class one day it’s not terrible, just doesn’t come close to some of the yoga experiences I’ve had in town.

PROS ;
Heated classes
Affordable $9 drop in
Mirrors
Ambient dark lighting
Friendly instructors
Mats available to borrow no charge
Cute location
I actually learned a couple new posture terms!

CONS ;
both classes were so slowwwww (should be labeled as slow flow not vinyasa )
I like it hotter & faster for vinyasa

Parking - sucks

ROACHES - yep borrowed a studio mat and a fricken roach fell out… not a great first impression. Took a minute to shake that off ewww.

During soundbath instructor opened door , It’s 4th so it’s loud and distracting outside . It would have been nice to just have it closed.

I've attended this studio only a handful of times. The energy is usually ok until the last time I went. I can't remember the teacher's name but she was NOT in a good mood. She was upset that we didn't sign up online and had a group of five. I think three of us needed to rent a mat as well. She made passive-aggressive comments to us. When she was doing the "mindfulness words" yoga teachers do at the beginning of class, she seemed to be projecting some hard things she was going through. One person from our group got ringworm from the yoga mat too.

Yesterday (May 1st, 2025) was my first experience practicing at 4th Avenue Yoga, and I greatly enjoyed it. Kendall guided the class through a sweaty, hot Vinyasa flow that left me spiritually rinsed. I will be signing up for class again tonight 🙏

I can't say enough good things about 4th Ave Yoga! Not only do they offer amazing classes with skilled and welcoming instructors, but they also have a true heart for the community. Our school club was in need of support, and they generously donated to help us reach our goals. Their kindness and commitment to wellness extend beyond the studio, and it means so much to us. If you're looking for a place to practice yoga while supporting a business that truly gives back, this is the place to go! Thank you, 4th Ave Yoga, for everything you do!

Been going to 4th Ave yoga for almost a year now and have nothing but great experiences there. My personal Favorite is Vika’s vinyasa/ashtanga class. I also go to other studios as well and Vika’s class is one of a kind. I do not know of another studio offering something like hers which makes it so unique and challenging. Wish I could take her class more throughout the week.

I have to also mention Grace’s class as well. The class is more than just yoga. I’ve taken workshops that do what Grace does and she fits it all in an hour. Her Monday class is absolutely the best way to start the week.

All the teachers are great, these two just offer their uniqueness that I appreciate.

I did my first class at 4th Avenue Yoga, it was with Nica for a vinyasa warm class. It was awesome, being my first yoga class after a long time of not doing any kind of workouts. It was a good pace, comfortable with the perfect amount of challenge. I totally recommend Nica, as a yoga teacher!

4th Ave Yoga is such a gem in this city. It’s cozy and welcoming. I love Michelle and Joel’s classes. I mostly attend Joel’s Sunday classes since it’s not heated and I’m not a huge fan of the hot yoga. I do wish they offered more non-heated classes that weren’t so late in the evenings on weekdays. Joel is super knowledgeable, kind, and focused. His classes are challenging in the best way possible and they are so purposeful — he puts in a lot of time in planning and it’s very obvious and amazing. I’ve attended Michelle’s classes when she is subbing and she’s superb. She really taps into your energy and graciously guides you throughout the entire experience truly connecting you to your inner spirit. I love her touch of reading beautiful quotes at the end of the practice.

4th Avenue Yoga is an amazing studio with a fantastic, hardworking staff. The 4th Avenue Yoga studio was gracious and generous enough to donate gift certificates to the Armory Park Senior Center. I'm enjoying this studio tremendously. I signed up for an unlimited monthly pass two weeks ago and so far I like all the classes. I find this to be a very meditative space with classes that emphasize breathing and alignment as well as rigor. Nica, Tamara, Michelle, Ursula, and Robert are all great and all bring something different. Through the years, I've learned from Iyenger, Bikram, and Core Power--this space is a very good amalgamation of all forms brought to the vinyasa flows. So glad I joined up! Emma P.

This is our 3rd class with Joel.
He is a gentle man with a very pleasant manner.
We truly appreciate the peaceful, understanding and instructive way he shares his practice and wisdom.

As a follow-up a month later, we have become more involved with the 4th Avenue Yoga family and have had classes with Tamara, Michelle (and one with Kiki (sp?). All are very warm and welcoming and excellent instructors!
We are very pleased and grateful!

Addendum April, 2024
We have been attending 4th Avenue Yoga for 4+ months. Early on we wrote a review that primarily featured our appreciation of Joel.
We would now like to recognize the 2 other instructors whom we practice with on a regular basis, Tamara and Michelle. Both are genuinely kind people who make all who enter feel welcome and comfortable. Each practitioner is accepted for who they are and where they may in their practice, both overall and/or on any particular day.
As an older couple, we sincerely appreciate the total acceptance of the aforementioned instructors along with their occasional substitutes.
We continue to feel grateful for our 4th Avenue Yoga experience(s).

My time at 4th Avenue Yoga was great! I recently went to a few hot yoga sessions with Instructor Nica and I loved them! I have never done a yoga class before or hot yoga but I would highly recommend this location. Parking is somewhat accessible, the classes were great! The environment itself was very calming and large enough that the room did not feel packed. Very welcoming and friendly! 10/10

Took an evening hot vinyasa yoga session here. It is reasonably priced, but the studio is small. Not sure I would’ve called it yoga. The session felt very chaotic and super fast. The instructor was kind of all over the place & the music was a mix of loud pop and dancey music. Maybe should’ve named it “hot Pilates”.

I had a terrible experience here. I've been doing yoga 15 years and never have I experienced this.

My friend and I prepaid for a 5:30pm class on their website. First time going. We planned to meet there. The monsoon had caused unexpected road blockages from fallen trees. I feared I may get there a few min late so I tried to call. Realized there was no phone number on the website. I texted my friend and she held me a spot while I found street parking.

I arrived at the studio door at 5:32 but it was locked. No one in sight. No phone number or signs. I texted my friend to let her know I was locked out. Someone walking by told me the owner/manager was same owner Brooklyn pizza and Sky bar. Walked over to Sky Bar. The employees said the manager Tony was out of town for an undefined time. I asked for a number. I asked if there was anyone else in charge to speak to. They said there was no one, no number, just an email. The employees were friendly yet unable to help, despite agreeing.

I then got a text back from my friend that she unlocked the door. I walked back over, opened to door and into class.. Immediately I was met with an enraged yoga instructor who loudly told me to get out. I told him I had prepaid and was locked out since 5:32. He said the door gets locked at 5:30, no exceptions. As a first time to the studio, I asked where that was listed. Not on the door not on the site. There isn't even a phone number to call. He didn't seem to care. He gave no answer. Just repeated I leave in an angry tone. My friend (a fitness instructor herself) was so upset by his tone she got up and left with me. We went back over to Sky to regroup out of the sweltering heat. A guy there who overheard me speaking to employees sympathized. He was a friend of the owner, and kindly offered $5 to offset some of the class cost.

Afterward, I emailed the owner Tony, no response yet and it's been a week. This place appears to be unprofessional. The instructor had no issue taking our money and refusing to provide service, over an unlisted yet necessary detail. No sensable explanation, no apologies, no kindness, no refunds. I will encourage other yoga friends not to go.

I’ve been attending classes with Shiloh and I absolutely love her slow flow and meditative sessions. As a complete beginner with little stamina and flexibility, it was very encouraging to be able to complete the asanas, go at my pace and come out very rejuvenated and gunning for more. Welcoming and non judgmental space. I love classes taught by Josh, Alex, Phoebe, and Lily. If you are new to yoga, the restorative, hatha and yin classes might be easier. Hot 26 and vinyasa need a bit of background. Yoga has definitely changed my life and made my back pain almost disappear but it takes a few sessions a week. Give it a shot and remember it gets easier and more rewarding over time.

I typically love this place but one of the teachers is so rude. Her name is Lily and she always has an attitude but she plays it off because she has a soft voice. I just went to a class and paid but once I got in it was so crowded there was no place to practice. I wasn't going to spend an hour trying to relax and workout while I'm all claustrophobic in a hot vinyasa class with sweaty people right next to me worried that I'll accidentally invade their space too. I asked to leave and she was so rude about it. She said I disrupted her class (which to be fair I hated doing) but she is the one who does this for a living. She should know if it's too crowded or at least ask people to make space for everyone. Never coming to one of her classes again.

Also, several people have told me that they've felt an attitude or rude vibe with her. I never said anything before because I thought maybe I was just projecting or something but it very clearly today.

Pros:
Good, solid vinyasa sequence. I felt challenged to an ideal extent.
Temperature was also good - warm enough to loosen the muscles, but not overwhelmingly hot.
Overall, the teacher was knowledgeable and guided the class appropriately.

Cons:
I have practiced yoga for over a decade - a variety of places, levels, types, countries, settings - and this is the first time I have heard a yoga teacher take time in the beginning of a class to lecture and shame her students about being 3-5 minutes late.

This choice set me up to feel tense and untrusting throughout the session, which does not correspond with the underlying principles of yoga.

Please let students know before spraying substances in the room during the session. People may prefer not to have this done on their face without warning, or may be allergic.

4th Avenue Yoga has extremely knowledgable instructors who are spiritually, emotionally, and physically committed to the practice of yoga! They are welcoming for every level and ability, even those who have not practiced yoga before. I have been attending classes almost weekly here for 4 years.

Not only have their yoga classes reduced my anxiety, but they have also helped me learn about the wider meaning behind yoga principles through their community gatherings, or "sanghas" (like a yoga book club without homework).

The studio is highly affordable and welcomes people from varying income levels-- you can't beat the price!

The chapters I have completed so far on my doctoral dissertation are partially due to the spiritual guidance and self-knowledge that I developed during my time with this fantastic studio.
