Great gym conveniently located in Ahwatukee Foothills area. Very reasonable fees. Great amenities like indoor basketball court and pickel ball. Climbing wall. Awesome lap pool and a separate kids pool. Plenty of equipment. Clean and not too busy any time of the day. Missing a few things like sauna and it's low on the class offerings.

The gym has top notch equipment! Unfortunately, the childcare is an absolute disaster. Often there's a foul odor. Musty and moldy. My husband is a physician and noticed the odor before entering childcare. As a former teacher/administrator I could not be more disappointed in the childcare staff. Teenagers huddled together, sitting down coloring, and on their phones instead of monitoring the children. They also play music with explicit lyrics on their phones. Last week I was thrilled to see an adult. Unfortunately, when I picked my son up from childcare, she told me he was too old to be in childcare. He's 10. We pay for him to be there. Before I could ask why she continued on saying that my son asked her to ask a 4 year old to stop following him. She said he asked repeatedly. I told my child the other boy probably thinks he's cool and wants to be like him. My son explained that the child grabs onto him and climbs over him and it was making him uncomfortable so he asked the teacher for help and instead of helping, she threatened to call me. I said I'm sure she didn't threaten you. She interrupted and informed me that she did threaten him. He asked for help. He wanted his personal space and was threatened. Unacceptable. Unprofessional. My child isn't too old for the childcare I PAY for. Your staff is unqualified to supervise children. We have visited the Tempe location and never had a problem. We are at the Chandler/Gilbert location 5 times a week. We have never had a problem there either. We have ceased going on the weekends. We visit this location Monday morning for a specific piece of equipment and every single Monday we encounter unprofessional behavior by people who are in charge of children's safety.

Not too fond of this place. Seems to be missing an element of management that leads to alot of unprofessional behavior. Many of the features of the membership are typically never available. They employ inexperienced workers who create issues of liability for the club. There is not enough oversight for regulating discrepancies and when called on the carpet, they sweep bad behavior under the rug. The YMCA use to be about "Community". This place however, is ran like the good ol' boys network.

I cannot believe I have it reviewed this YMCA yet! My daughter plays intramural volleyball at this gym and she is really enjoying it! The gentleman that is in charge of the place, Kain England, is incredible!! He graciously allowed us to join the team mid season at a discount and threw in the jersey at no cost which was awesome. The girls really enjoy themselves! Three of my daughters very good friends are on the team including her best friend. The staff members at the gym always make sure to start each game off with a Creed, making the girls vow to be team players and respect themselves and their coach and their teammates in the other teams and to do their best mind body and spirit and all that and start off and end High fiving the other teams. It's all been in excellent experience. I'm attaching a bunch of pictures and video clips of their games so far my daughter is the tall blonde jersey number one!!!

I signed up two months ago, and the gentleman who registered us was very kind and helpful. I registered my daughter for a specific team and time for a sport, and Kain England informed us that my daughter is placed in another class at a different time. He offered the excuse that there were too many people on the team and my daughter does not have the same skill as other team people. Since there are no tryouts for the sport, it's unreasonable to claim that our child is not at the team level. However, we registered our daughter for a specific class well before others, yet they want to place her in a class without a coach. We are very disappointed with the coordination and lack of communication during the registration process. The sport class operates on a first-come, first-served basis, so it doesn't make sense to move people to another day and time. The sport's coordination seems very unprofessional.

The Ahwatukee Foothills Y is a great local gym. If you live in Ahwatukee on the edge of the 202, this is the only place to exercise. The community is great which is because the staff promotes it. The number and variety of classes is amazing. The workout area is decent but could use a few more elliptical machines. The website could better advertise the classes. The 360 app that the Y uses is good, but somewhat limited in that it does not allow for tracking exercise activity, only gym visits. Overall, though, this is a great gym.

The Y offers many different programs, aqua and dry land. There is something for everyone. The modern equipment and facilities are clean and well maintained. Most importantly is the staff. They are friendly, knowledgeable and always willing to help, making you feel welcome each time. Colleen at the front desk is exceptional, always helpful and greeting everyone usually by name. It truly is a family YMCA and one I highly recommend for all ages and all fitness levels.

Young and inexperienced scorekeepers for the basketball league made up “new” rules to disqualify our team, and took pictures of our team pre game on his social media, just showed how inexperienced and unprofessional this branch is with handling their basketball league and when this issue was mentioned no action was taken. We signed up a few months ago and the lady was registered us was very sweet, kind, helpful, and nice. We did register our kid for a sport and the sports coordinator informed us LAST minute when our practices would start. I get sport registration is tough, but COMMUNICATION to the families is key and not last minute is important for scheduling on both sides. He doesn’t like to return emails or calls either. Fast forward to the current sign up, the young girl at the desk couldn’t do it because she said it was locked and she’d have the sport coordinator call. She also didn’t know how to make it to where I could see my account online so that I could register there. SURPRISE he didn’t ever call! So I called again and someone was able to link my account so I could see my account online. But when I asked about the sport she said you are 4th on the list and he will be giving you a call soon. Waited and of course SURPRISE no call again! So I called back and the person who answered went and talked to him and the sports are full and we’d be put on a waiting list. Went to the branch today to cancel our membership. There was a lady that was handling a customer on the phone and she had to get the other girl’s attention because she had her head down towards that back of the counter and she was on her cellphone while with two families waiting in the lobby. The young girl at the desk needs to take a lesson in Customer Service because she’s an absolutely BRAT! She did nothing to try to get us to stay and once I told her why I was cancelling because of the sport coordinator she turned into even a bigger brat. While the lady that originally signed us up was there talking to someone on the phone about canceling and being very helpful, nice, and going above and beyond. The young girl that needs a brush needs to take some customer service tips from her because that’s how customer service should be!

Very nice facility but few problems upon closer observation. It has a peculiar smell in there. Kids running around and screaming. No vending machine for water. Another weird thing I noticed was the front desk people always standing and never a chair in sight. It is 2022, why are you making it harder on the employees for no reason? I see every single other employee laid back and enjoying themselves. Front desk looks MISERABLE! Do better ymca!!! I don’t even want to ask for help because I feel so bad. Do better and make things enjoyable for your employees it is 2022 not 2002! I’m a manager myself and I despise managers that do business like that. Be NICE! Maybe invest in some fragrance wall plugs. Can’t do much about the kids screaming that’s not too bad.

So far our experience with this location is okay. I did see some diligent staff working in this location and I could also empathize with the concerns from some of the 1 -star reviews.

Compared with other locations in the valley, I would say, the customer service part in this location needs to be improved.

The facility itself is very cool and it offers outdoor bikes and swim pool. The family restroom is convenient to use. The pool area is our favorite part of this location.

The child care program at the YMCA is a terrible place for your children. My child was bullied when he was supposed to be uplifted. When I approached the staff they did nothing. The chain of command is terrible as well. They do no investigations on allegations that occur at their facility they go off the word of a teacher. So if they were dishonest and your child is telling the truth it is impossible to get them to admit fault. Do not trust this facility with your children and if you already have you need to pull them before they get hurt and you will be the one to pay because of the membership waiver you signed. Please hear my warning when I say the YMCA in foothills is not safe for children.

I WOULD BE ECSTATIC IF POOL HOURS WERE LONGER FOR NIGHTTIME SWIMMING THOUGH. I CANNOT swim during our piercing-sun hours. I have had facial procedures done that prohibit me from being out in the sun.
AND, YMCA Management, I am CERTAIN I am not the only one. Dermatologists have advised all of us, facial procedures or not, to stay out of the sun. Besides skin cancer, which is no small issue, it wreaks havoc on our skin.
I am aware of the costs associated with providing an indoor pool. So I am just politely requesting LONGER nighttime hours for the pool. Even better would be if the whole facility could stay open longer.
My other issue is insomnia. There have been many nights, being wide awake, that I have, literally, yearned to go for a swim at my neighbourhood YMCA. And I implore you or anyone reading this please do not mention LA Fitness. I've had my experiences there and don't care to revisit them.

After 20 years with this Y I joined LA Fitness. For the premium you pay to belong, this Y is no longer customer oriented and forgot who the paying customer is. Frequent broken exercise equipment that takes weeks to repair and no customer oriented customer service in the evenings.

I signed up under the "no start up fee" promotion so I could try the classes at the YMCA. I was told at the time that there were no contracts or cancellation fees. After 3 months of classes, I decided the $53 a month cost was a bit high with the amount of classes I was actually taking. I called in and asked about cancellation. I was told I had to come in, but if I came in before the 5th of the month, my membership would be cancelled. I SPECIFICALLY asked if I filled out the paperwork by the 5th if I would be charged again. I was told no, I would be paid. I went in on 8/31 and filled out the form, and when I turned it in, I again asked about my auto draft not happening in September. I was told I was all set, she took my paper, said she would get it processed. This morning, my fee was drafted. I called and was told that by canceling by the 5th, that was considered my 30 day notice and that there was one more time I would be charged. I explained the above, and was told that is not the policy and that I signed off on the paperwork. I told them no one gave me a copy of that paperwork, nor was that pointed out to me at the time I signed the paperwork and that I had asked directly about not being charged again. The staff basically told me they were sorry I misunderstood (How did I misunderstand? I DIRECTLY ASKED TWICE). Its a nice facility, the classes are great, however this customer service was TERRIBLE. Buyer beware.
