To correct a misstatement in a recent review, the temperature in this gym has ALWAYS been pleasantly cool. It's never so crowded that you have to wait more than a minute (if at all) for a machine. Regional manager has posted a note inside now, apologizing about shortness in staff. I hope trainer Wiley comes back. Haven't seen him recently and he's a very likeable guy. I'm a Charter Member, having joined when it opened a mile east at Ellsworth & Guadalupe Rds next to the pizza place in about 2011.

This has been my home gym for over a year now and probably the worst Anytime Fitness location I’ve visited. The gym is consistently at an uncomfortably high temperature which has been brought up to the staff on numerous occasions but it seems they don’t have the money to bring the temperature down or they simply don’t care about their customers. On top of this the door to the facility has been broken for at least two weeks now, meaning you can only enter during staffed hours. What’s the point of being a 24/7 gym if I have to drive to a different location just to get in?

I am writing to express my deep frustration with how Anytime Fitness in Guadalupe, Mesa, Arizona has handled my membership and cancellation. I joined in summer 2024 while visiting the U.S. for a short period. The Hispanic staff member who signed me up clearly told me I could cancel at any time by showing my passport, since I was only staying temporarily.

Following those instructions, I attempted to cancel and presented my passport. Shortly after, I received one phone call informing me that my membership was not cancelled and that I needed to provide a utility bill from my home country—something that was never mentioned at sign-up. After that call, I was never contacted again. I received no emails, letters, or further calls from Anytime Fitness.

I repeatedly called the gym for help, but no one answered the phone, and when I tried to get information, no one could tell me where or how to send the requested document.

Now, my account has been sent to collections due to poor communication and misinformation from your team. I demand this be resolved immediately, with no financial impact to me. This situation was not my fault.

After completing physical therapy following spinal surgery in 2014, I continued prescribed exercises at Anytime Fitness and became increasingly dissatisfied due to a decline in attitude of patrons alongside equipment upkeep. In 2023, I took up membership at another gym, sustained an injury while working with a personal trainer, recovered and recently returned to Anytime Fitness. I was pleased to find many of the issues I experienced in years past at Anytime Fitness to be resolved. General Manager, Ray, is upbeat and appears to be invested in his position. Instead of having to walk over or around weights and hardware left on the floor, exercise equipment is stored in respective locations. The elliptical trainers appear to be clean and in working condition. Music selection is appropriate, and the sound level is no longer deafening. Patrons are actively engaged in their exercise and are not sitting at machines or on benches while looking at their phones. It feels good to be back at Anytime Fitness, especially with the improvements that have been made since I left. If I could give ten gold stars, I would!

Dishonest and Overpriced.

I went in and talked to the manager (one of many because they have a high turn over) about signing up. I asked him 3 different times while we were talking if I could cancel if I needed to. He assured me all three times that I would need to pay a $50 fee but I could cancel. I teach college and am not guaranteed classes. Well, I did not get classes for spring and talked to the new manager (the second one after the guy I originally talked to) and he said I can't cancel because that wasn't in my contract. I figured that after 3 times telling me I could cancel it was true. My bad for not reading through the writing. Also my bad for thinking this company was honest. Now I'm stuck with a $50/month bill that makes my life harder.

Twice the cost of any other gym, less equipment or amenities, and dishonest. April can't come soon enough.

Newer manager (I forget their name) was super helpful and honest about how to handle my situation. Made the process easy and took a lot of stress off. Only feedback I have is I understand it's a "staffless" gym but a more clear posting on when staff is on lunch, gone for the day, etc. But that's a niche issue cause I knew what I signed up for. Subject: Formal Complaint Regarding Harassment and Unsanitary Conditions at Anytime Fitness, 8257 E Guadalupe Rd, Mesa, AZ against Ray the General Manager.

The incidents in question occurred during my visit on October 8, 2024, during a training session with the gym’s trainer, Sam. I noticed there was no disinfectant cleaning solution available at the 2 front cleaning stations. When I mentioned this to Sam, she said they are probably being refilled. I replied, "No, there are 2 full bottles on Ray's desk." They remained there the entire training session. Other fellow members were looking for the disinfectant spray as well for almost an hour. His actions of withholding the disinfectant cleaning from the members, not only creates an unhygienic environment to public health but also raises concerns about the cleanliness of the equipment in regard to the spread of germs and bacteria. One member I noticed, once the spray was available at the station, he went to wipe down all his previous machines he used.

(NOTE- On Tuesday, the gym only had 4 cleaning stations with paper towels and disinfectant spray at the time: 2 in front and 2 in the back. On Thursday, more disinfectant cleaning bottles were placed around the gym after my suggestion from Tuesday.) I have photos of no cleaner available.

After discussing this issue with Sam, she relayed my concerns to Ray. When Ray approached me, I expressed my dissatisfaction with the lack of available disinfectant cleaning supplies to the members at the stations, as well as the large visible dust buildup on a box fan in the training room and piles of dust along the baseboards/corners in that hadn’t been cleaned for some time. Did you know the dust along the floor of the baseboard are contaminated surfaces that can spread germs, allergens, and toxic contaminants that can make people sick. That is a serious issue in a small room with recycled air. Ray’s response was dismissive and sarcastic; he replied with, “Is that it?” This indifference to a legitimate health and safety concern was troubling, to say the least. The day corporate visited the facility, he did a major clean that morning. Never have I seen Ray more actively cleaning than that day as he usually hides out in his office.

In comparison to previous GM management, such as John and Marco, who kept the facility in excellent condition and maintained positive interactions with members, Ray appears disengaged. He often hides in his office, obstructing visibility with signage or paper, which has since been moved as corporate was coming to the facility. Other gym members have spoken to me and mentioned he's not friendly.

On October 10, 2024, at 11:17 AM, I received an unprofessional and harassing phone call from Ray. During the call, he implied, "I'm not a slave” (his exact words) and expressed disappointment that I didn’t thank him after his sarcastic comment. Rather than addressing my concerns about gym cleanliness and member safety, Ray attempted to gaslight me and shift the blame for his lack of managerial responsibility. I found this call deeply troubling and unprofessional.

Despite this, I want to commend the other staff, who have been consistently professional and hardworking. Even young man who handles cleaning, puts in significant effort, though it seems he lacks direction from Ray compared to previous GM management.

I hope this matter is taken seriously, as it concerns both the health department and the safety of gym members and the professionalism expected of your management team. I wish not to be contacted by him moving forward.

I have a screenshot. The message says, "Notice The QR Code Campaign has been disabled for some reason. Your QR Code Reader/Scanner is working fine. I’ve been training with Trish for almost a year now and I don’t think I can sing her praises enough. She’s passionate, supportive, and extremely knowledgeable. I always look forward to coming in, no matter what kind of day I’m having because I know Trish will be there to push me. - Gym needs to enforce time limits and limit phone use on equipment, come in peak time and wait 1hr for the bench

This is by far the worst gym I’ve ever unfortunately had to deal with. No one ever answers the phone, I can’t get anyone to respond an email. I was talking to “Ash” about cancelling/ requesting non renewal of our membership. I sent her back the signed form via email and cannot get a response or confirmation back. It’s been almost a month- I’ve followed up via email 3 times and have left 2 voicemails. Extremely unprofessional. Not to mention, the gym itself isn’t that great- subpar equipment for the fees you pay.
Would like someone to confirm that mine & my husband’s membership will NOT RENEW. I was in a challenge to loose 20lbs in 6 weeks and I would get my $600 back. I had lost 19.1 pounds with 1 more session left, I was told by my trainer Marcus B (no longer there) that I’d get my money back because other people got their money back at 19 lbs. I decided to use my last session to go over my workout logs. Come to find out Justin Holder Area manager and Miguel Gonzales said NO! Had I known that the day I was told I wouldn’t get it back at 19.1 pounds, I still had one more session left and I know I would have lost that 1 pound!!!!

I signed up for personal training and was not disappointed. My trainer was Marcus, he did a great job providing good workouts for me. He learns his clients and provides exactly what they need. This isnaGreat Gym! Kinda pricey but you get what you pay for. It's a Nice place! There's showers and it's Always clean. They got music you can tap into via an app and they got TV's. A spacious yoga room. They got Tanning beds and free weights, cardio and machines. They also got a personal trainer. I'm using one right now. I feel that even though it costs money to get a trainer, it's worth it. I joined the gym and in 2 weeks I only went twice. But I gotta keep my appointments cause I'm paying for it, so I've come to every session and I Always leave exhausted. I honestly feel like I've given 100%. So I'm hopeful! They also got wifi and different scales. But overall, it's a Good Gym. Worth the price. It's 24hours and they got super cool staff and gym goers too, everybody I've seen here is cool.

The owner/operator(s) of this place are crooks. During 2020 I set up a home gym & no longer needed this gym membership, but it was inexpensive and I wanted to support small business so I kept my membership active. Six months ago I got a new credit card & forgot to change the card on file with the gym. Not only did nobody ever contact me to fix it but THEY SENT ME TO COLLECTIONS, who had been provided my email (proving the gym had that info & could have reached out) & a statement claiming they'd attempted to contact me several times. That's just not true. In this current economic climate, messing with someone's credit is nasty. If they had emailed me I would have immediately fixed the issue and continued giving them my $35/month. OH WELL. Do not trust these folks with your business.

A Manager from this Anytime Fitness location at Guadalupe and Hawes kicked me out because I was doing deadlifts too loudly.

The Anytime Fitness gym in Mesa at Guadalupe & Hawes have a revolving doors as far as their Managers go as they've had 10 different Managers over the span of 6 Years. I would NOT recommend this gym at all.

After being kicked out from the Guadalupe location TJ from Val Vista welcomed me with open arms and said that he even had deadlift platform/bumper plates for better weight impact.

This is not the only time that TJ has had my back. For this I recommend the Anytime fitness gym in Val Vista 100%.

Terrible place! Please stay away from this gym at all cost. The customer service is terrible and they will overcharge your bank account despite several attempts to resolve billing issues.
I have tried to contact them several times and they never answer the phone or respond to voicemails.
I attempted to cancel my membership with them, and although l provided the 30 day notice they requested, and signed the cancelation documents, they continue to charge my account for a membership I do not have anymore.
I requested that they email a copy of the cancelation documents, but they have not done so up until now.
Unless you want to have any issues like these in the future, I would suggest looking for a better gym.

This has been a terrible place to deal with during the pandemic. They refused to close the second time so they could keep charging fees despite the fact that I was not comfortable with going. They do not enforce a mask policy and I have never seen an employee walking around sanitizing anything. I have had many memberships at different gyms and this one has been my favorite hands down. The ability of being able to go to the gym whenever it works for your schedule and key to make positive lifestyle changes. I had actually left a personal item of mine there and it has been over 48 hours and no one had disturbed it, it was where I left it. I really feel like The Price is Right for this little community of people who are working on the same positive goals. They scam you. When you cancel, they say they'll keep a copy of your cancellation on a piece of paper. They don't enter it into any system. They continue to charge your card for perpetuity. Since I lost my copy because I didn't think it was my job to keep documentation for them, they say it's not they're fault. They have no records all of a sudden. SCAM!!! They owe me over $300!!!!!!! Sarah Ortiz and Vince will take all your money. Don't sign anything!! Once they get your bank account info, they delete everything else on your account so they can say they "didn't know". Best gym in town. Has the feel of a real workout place unlike the library called planet fitness and u can always get on a machine unlike LA fitness and the luxury of using the gym at anytime. Friendly staff and already recommended it to all my friends.
