My daughter needed to prepare for her lifeguard test. We worked with Brock Adkins and set up a schedule that would meet her needs & not compete with swim classes. Not only was Brock great to work with but, the facility was very clean (did not smell like a gym at all) & all the members were very kind. I would highly recommend Esporta! Btw... she passed the first time! Thanks Esporta!!!

UPDATE: after being contacted by Matthew from LA Fitness confirming they were going to take steps to correct this I spoke directly with the Logan the person that asked me to leave, he apologized and is taking steps to improve his customer service skills. Hes already getting much better at it.

ORIGINAL REVIEW
I'd avoid this location specially if training with Logan. The employee has an unfortunate low maturity level talking over clients, unacceptable customer service and Management does not seem capable of dealing with situations involving their staff.

On Tuesday Nov 8 2022 at 1pm I tried checking in with my phone number as my phone app was not loading; "greeted" from a desk afar from the front desk, Logan Nelson asked me "how can I help you?" (his tone was not very front desk like or educated at all) I said I needed to register my entry with my phone number... Logan made absolutely no effort to come to the front desk yelling at me from his desk "what's your phone number,?" I asked if I needed to yell it or come over to his desk... I realized this guy is not going to stand up from his desk so I come over and provide my phone number letting him know that his actions show very poor customer service.... I proceed to the locker room to get changed where this guy comes over to tell me his got a rolled ankle (apologizing tone) with his attitude and I being frustrated I said "you are here right?" meaning he could have avoided standing up by being better at attending front desk issues while incapacitated (he walked all the way to the locker room but could not stand to the front desk? makes no sense, the next thing that happens he actually has the nerve to ask me to leave! Lol...I left without addressing this obviously incapable person (As I am leaving asking myself what I did wrong to actually deserve being asked to leave, I never insulted or addressed this guy in any different way than he treated me.. I spoke with the manager on duty Bryan who was just OK at handling the situation but needs improvement. Making customers feel unwelcome because they are having a bad day and on top of that asking them to leave just because they were called out respectfully and getting their feelings hurt? Lets remind this employee and all that we customers pay their salary please .... just read previous comments, most 1 stars are related to bad customer service

Esporta in general - Staff is very friendly and professional. Better than PF, same price range more options. This location - There's about at least one of everything you'll need regardless of routine. Relatively small, older crowd 40's and up. Id go here for focused workouts and training. Maybe not for you if you like a very big gym, younger crowd, or more amenities like pools, basketball court, etc. Definitely not a rec center, but definitely a good gym.

We were visiting from out of town and was able to take advantage of the free 5-day pass to get a quick workout in. Esporta - Scottsdale was close and convenient to where we were staying. It was clean, staff was friendly and the equipment was in good working order and condition.

The only minimal downside is I continue to get phone calls, text messages and emails soliciting a membership. Being in sales and even owning a gym myself I get it, but with a sales process this diligent there has to be a spot in the software/process to leave a note that I was an out of town guest.

I would never recommend going to Esporta, they make sure you don't cancel, then they tell you you can't on the phone. Then they say they can and won't refund me $45 for a month I paid for but didn't use i tried to call the same day they charged me. Front desk was brutal and manager. I would think they would run a little better business, go to EOS. way better

Don’t ever sign up here. Nearly impossible to cancel a membership. It was always the excuse of operations manager being the only one that can cancel memberships and he’s not here at the moment after 5 trips in person on different days of the week and times of days all while charging for my monthly membership and childcare services they no longer provide. Same shady business practices happened back 2020 when they were closed down. It was a nightmare! Anyways, avoid this place at all costs subpar equipment, no cleaning protocols to make you feel confident and safe while exercising. Everyone who works there is so fake and you can tell quickly tell they all miserable there. There are so many other clubs in the vicinity.

My husband and I were at the gym and just couldn't take it anymore. The staff at the front was not pleasant, the personal trainer was over weight, a stocky man with little training and only teaching his client how to count 1-10 while he looked at his phone.

We have been exercising all our lives and to have the staff representing a level of professionalism is as important as the equipment.

The facility is smaller, but clean, adequate, but I would not choose this Scottsdale location.

I have run into the same problem with members not wearing their face masks the way they are supposed to. I have complained numerous times but they don't enforce the rule. Today I complained about the absence of Fox on the TV's. I was told management has decided we shouldn't be viewing this channel! Sounds like they are Biden supporters. If someone doesn't want to watch a certain channel they don't have to. Fox has been available until today.

They were bought from LA fitness and lowered the price so low that it's brining in questionable members to include street person simply using the gym to come in and bathe she had track marks all over her legs and arms from drug use.

Gym is clean and quiet but sadly just like other Esporta and LA Fitness clubs they simply do not enforce the mask rule and really should be shut down. Sadly,: still have people with mask below the nose look going and no care for others who want to be safe.. all this could EASILY be prevented if someone walked around and after so many warnings, just kicked members out, that simple.. they will say employees walk the gym but I Never see it ..

Update 06/2020: I like this place even more now as Esporta. It's super clean, the personal training area got upgraded with some fun equipment. I love teaching there. I'm not usually a morning person, but I really enjoy the people I interact with at the Saturday morning class. Staff is friendly.

This LA fitness is one of Scottsdale's best kept secrets when it comes to simplistic gyms. Super new and clean, easy to get on all the equipment. The location is easy to get to...in the same plaza as Harkin's Theaters, Coffee Plantation, you just turn in the second you see the big "Scottsdale Shea East" sign.

Just had the worsted experience you can have with personal Training manager Rachel. My account was so screwed up and then closed. Had several thousand dollars of training left and she had no interest in better understanding the account. A Robot sipping on a slurpy drink. No service just "well this is what is in the computer. Ramsey is the best personal trainer I have ever had. To bad his boss is so un accommodating and uninterested in membership issues. Terrible management.

I see some people here saying the size of this gym is a negative thing. I feel it’s the opposite; it’s intimate, very high quality, and most often far less crowded than other LAF’s. I really like it. It’s always very clean and well-maintained. The only cons I can think of are EXTREMELY limited hours + no basketball court. Otherwise, great place to get a lift/cardio done.

This LA Fitness is one of the smallest ones I've been too so far in Arizona. The parking lot is a bit small as well, so there were no spaces close to the gym when I came. I parked 2 stores down.
This was about a year ago when I came here... Anyways, once I came in there was a very bad odor permeating the gym. It happened to be there both times I visited.
The only highlight was the zumba class teacher. She was very down to earth and really put a lot of effort in her class to ensure that everyone was having a good time.

Great Gym. Very clean and modern - BUT....I have a constructive suggestion. I today's age, when practically EVERYONE has their own entertainment device with headphones, it isn't necessary for the gym to pump music throughout the facility. I like the Shea location because they have these big fans which provide a soothing and calm atmosphere. I suggest this gym eliminate the music. Not only is the pumped in music unnecessary, it is downright distracting - not to mention not very good music. I challenge this gym to try something new and see how others would like a quiet, peaceful atmosphere, especially in the early morning,

The Shea location needs to be a lot more clean. I'd reduce the size if area devoted to personal training and add additional equipment instead. Install mirrors in small areas for floor work so people can check their form. Staff should walk the floor for poor etiquette offenders "reserving" equipment by leaving a towel or water bottle while they head back and forth to other equipment.

This GYM works great for me since I don't need pool, sauna, basketball, however I take out one star for each of these 3 : shower runs out of HOT WATER after 5 minutes, MUSIC is loud and digusting, not suited for the older age group using this GYM, and finally CLOSING TOO EARLY on weekends.

By far the most helpful club I have been to yet, they have a Member Appreciation day that let vendors come every month and set up shop to promote products. This helps tons with me being in the fitness industry. The staff was super nice, and the gym is great. The only bad thing is that they do not have a sauna or pool like some other clubs in the area. Men's bathroom is old and stinks a bit always, the gym is often out of soap and cleaning liquids. Dark, poor climate control, no one knows how to change TV channels. Call themselves "community gym" so that cleanliness and sanitation expectations are low. One redeeming feature is pleasant front desk staff. But no one seems to work there for more than 6 months

We have been members of LA Fitness for almost 30 years. We joined the gym at McCormick Ranch and loved the relaxed staff and availability of the equipment. When we move north, we then started going to the Shea and Scottsdale Road LA Fitness. The managers there is less interested in us and our concerns and more interested in rules and regulations. I am so sorry we are not closer to our old LA Fitness because now we have to drive to be treated with respect form the management. Big disappointment.

Corporate gyms get a tough rap, because pushy sales tactics. However, Connor Sussman has been awesome. This L.A. is nice and new with great classic bodybuilding weights. Plenty of 45's to go around. Dumbells only go up to 100, slightly disappointing. Hesitant to write good things because the gym doesn't get too busy and who doesn't love a gym to themselves. Austin the GM could not be more unprofessional in how he handles the public. When he could make something a simple request he causes unnecessary conflict and then walks away vs dealing with it. It is also obvious by the looks of the locker room that he is not spending any attention, money or resources there either. It is my suggestion that he is replaced with an adult that has customer service skills or at the very least, sent to some sort of training. I feel it is only fair to add that Josh who was at the front desk when I returned was very professional. So, where Austin earns one star because I could not choose any less, Josh gets 5 for acting like an adult and a professional.

Really love this club. I especially love the cycle classes with Athena and Kaleigh. Apparently the cycle room was "too hot" for some members last Sat, and they complained to the staff. Athena was visibly upset about this. I believe that one would expect to sweat when you exercise, and I personally like to work up a good sweat. Perhaps the "hot" people should find another form of aerobic exercise that does not involve sweating. In addition, some reported being offended by some language in a song. I guess they should never go to other gyms for spin, or yoga for that matter where, they it is much louder and much worse. Only 4 stars because of all the complaining during class. 5 stars for Athena and Kaleigh, as well as the gym itself.
