So much about this is frustrating! First off, I’ve loved this gym. I’ve had a membership here for over 3 years and it’s always been fantastic. I had to take a break this last month and this week I was finally able to go back so I woke up early to go before work. I checked the hours online in case they had winter hours and it shows they’re open at 5 AM. I get there and see other cars circling around that look just as confused as I do. I saw someone else reading a sign on the door but didn’t get out to read it myself, I just checked online and saw the other reviews about the permanent closure in Dec. I was confused because every time I’ve driven by this week it’s been closed already? I haven’t heard anything/received anything about my membership, they just changed the sign, Google shows they’re open, etc. I was just confused so I emailed LA Fitness to hopefully get more insight and was so disappointed with their response. She seemed short with me and acted like I’m supposed to just know all about this by the signs they have there even though I haven’t been able to go, and when I can go because I’m off work they’re closed. Why would you not send out an email or something to your members with such important information?

UPDATE: BEWARE ZUMBA SUBSTITUTE INSTRUCTOR "SARAH" - NO SHOW This has happened before at this and other LA Fitnesses. Beware of substitute instructor Sarah; in my experience, she never shows up nor does she update the website to show that she cancelled. Today "Sarah" clocked in at Rio Salado and left the message that no-one showed up for the class. One lady was there at least 4 minutes early, another on the dot. At least 8 people wasted their time driving to this gym for a no-show instructor who is clearly scamming LA Fitness, I spoke again to the manager who said that she would pass the information on to the LA Fitness Zumba coordinator, who is an LA Fitness employee. The Zumba instructors are not LA Fitness employees. Has anyone actually seen Substitute Sarah? OLD POST Have gone multiple times in the past to this spacious, nice looking gym for Zumba classes . OK to good instructors in the past. Today instructor was a no show; the front desk passed the buck to the third party company that provides their Zumba instructors. According to others in the class, this is the third time this has happened in so many weeks. I checked the website before I left, then drove 20 minutes just to waste my time. I go to LA Fitness's all over the valley daily and most manage to cancel a class or replace with another class temporarily. The online schedule is there for a reason, but apparently this LA Fitness does not know how to update it or how to work with their Zumba Contractors. At another gym, I was told that it is the responsibility of the Zumba instructor to post a cancellation if they cannot make it. If they don't, then what?? Note that McCormick Ranch is another LA Fitness with Zumba scheduling issues. Worried that LA Fitness is in trouble generally. UPDATE: Just got back from LA Fitness Rio Salado Zumba class. Great instructor and conscientious management. Manager told me that although the Zumba instructors are not LA Fitness employees, there is a Zumba Coordinator who handles all of the LA Fitness Zumba issues including no-shows etc.

I've gone to this gym for around a year now.

CONS:Dumbbells are in the wrong spot on the racks or just completely left in random spots in the gym, Machines are broken often, and many machines have broken on me, cable attachments are sprawled out across the gym, the men's bathroom is extremely warm, and you sweat a lot.

PROS: The basketball ball court and tennis ball rooms are awesome and pretty clean. The locker rooms are very spacious and clean.

This gym is a great place to workout in peace. They have many options, depending on what style of exercise your looking for. This is for Esporta only. Three reasons for three stars
1.The entrance area is dirty and riddled with pigeon poop.

I couldn't be more happy with esporta fitness, the facility is clean, not overcrowded. There are always machines available. They have racquetball courts, basketball courts, they have a pool and a sauna. The locker rooms always smell fresh and clean. I've had the displeasure of having memberships at a couple of other local gyms and I had a ton of trouble with broken down saunas the facilities being dirty, getting charged multiple times, no help from customer service and then having to go to the trouble of deleting my debit card.

1. Machines are too close to each other compared to LA fitness.

Love coming here, but they really need to enforce some "re-rack your weights Policy" often half the free weights are gone and all over the place. Rack Squats have 200+ lbs still on it (if you can stack them, Rack them). Like your mother's done work here! Respect your gym and it's equipment!

Just switched to this gym since the previous Esporta is far from my new place. It’s ok, I don’t like the way they set it up and really dislike their treadmills and stair master options. A trap bar would be nice and broken/old equipment is an issue, otherwise it’s alright.

Downgrading to 1 star because the situation has gotten worse to an embarrassing extent to anything reasonable. If redemption is possible for this location, it’s beyond my line of sight.

It’s become very crowded, not as bad as other gyms at prime time on paper, but maybe seems worse because gym etiquette and self awareness seem to be severely lacking in this location. Patrons here need to learn to hop to it and focus on finishing their work outs. I often observe the same groups of people dawdling on the cable machines especially or other stations for hours at a time. Since Covid equipment has been perpetually out of service, often for months at least at a time.

I love this gym. I have been going here for years. However, lately it has gone downhill! So many of the machines are broken. When asked about them we are told that a work order has been submitted. Many if the treadmills have had out of service signs on them for over a year.
The women’s restrooms and locker rooms are often disgusting. They are not cleaned regularly. Floors haven’t been mopped in months. The floor area around the pool in filthy. I keep coming because I really like the instructors and because I have been coming so long I have friends there. Believe me it is not for the facility.

This gym is literally minutes from my home, one reason I like it. Plus, it has more machines than any one person could possibly use, and a swimming pool, racket ball courts, basketball court, yoga/aerobics room. Staff at the front desk are pleasant. Did have an issue with one of the trainers, although that was some time ago, playing 'her' group training music way too loud.
I go 5 days a week and usually spend an hour or so working out.

Love this gym but not happy that there is a no shoe policy. I’ve seen a few people walking around the gym, barefoot using the machines and the treadmill completely barefoot not only that but when they use the grass area they are barefoot as well if I am sitting down or some thing that is just a health hazard I have never been to a gym where a manager doesn’t tell someone to put some shoes on. I love this gym so much, but it looks like I might be having to find another gym to go to this is a health hazard and I just can’t believe that there are people working out completely bare foot 🤢

I love this gym and I would consider it my "home gym". Moving and living all around the valley has given me the opportunity to utilize multiple gym memberships. This location at Stapley and University used to be an Albertson's. I started going a couple years after it became an LA Fitness. It's an area I grew up in and it's the gym I originally spent most of my time in. Larger and more spacious gym. I love it. After it changed to Esporta and re-opened after the lockdown in 2020, it was perfect. However, things have gone awry. It's gotten a little overcrowded. Several treadmills are inoperable. There are no highly functional leg extension machines that work. I've attached a picture of two literally unusable leg extension machines that have been this way for several months. I hesitated writing this review but when I saw a group of teenagers break part of the seat on the pectoral fly machine tonight and then within minutes proceed to have a boxing match with gloves on in the locker room (two boxing and eight kids filming) I figured I would finally say something. Kids are routinely taking their shirts off in the gym and working out like that. It's getting ridiculous. See the attached photo. Here are some tips: 1. Maintain the equipment. Every piece of it. If it's broke, fix it in a timely manner. 2. Get control of the clientele not following the rules. 3. Be strict with guest privileges and the number of guests one is allowed to bring. 4. Extend the gym's hours.

Ever since switching to Esporta, this club has definitely gone downhill. There is a lower membership fee level and as a result, the club is now way too crowded even early in the morning. I've tried to swim on weekends but a lot of times people are bringing their kids in and acting like the pool is a water park and not for exercise. With the lower membership tier it seems like they are trying to compete with Planet Fitness but there is only one Esporta Fitness that is 24 hours. In addition, a lot more of the equipment particularly the leg machines are down for scheduled service and have been for weeks. I'm seriously considering cancelling my membership. The only reason I didn't switch over before was the pool but if I can't use it anymore what's the point? I'm very disappointed.

Love the cycle classes here by Tawnee T., she is an amazing trainer! I wasn’t planning on changing my training plan but after trying this class once she got me hooked - highly recommend! I also like the “singing cleaning lady” as another review also mentioned (if you are reading this, sorry I keep forgetting your name!) I’ve been with la fitness/ESPORTA for 5 years. I stayed when everyone switched to eos and have been dedicated to this gym. Tonight I went in 5 minutes before a class was over to grab 2.5 free weights and a mat (there were none other in the gym) and the Zumba lady RAN over to me, screamed in my face, treated me so horrible (god/like complex about her class for sure…) sorry it’s 6pm, there’s no mats or weights small enough for me. It’s already hard enough working out As a women in a male dominated gym but Jesus Christ… this lady was so rude for no reason. I don’t know why she would yell like that. I got home and literally started crying because her red, sweaty, mean face inches from my face is haunting me. I just don’t understand why she would treat someone like that. Instructor lady: if you read this, I really hope you understand how your behavior affects others. How a simple “sorry if you didn’t see the sign, but you have to go” would have sufficed. She yelled at me like an army sergeant yelling at a cadet in basic training. I’m a young girl. Anyways, I’m gonna switch to eos.

Signed up online for 9.99 membership but have been charge the upgraded membership (24.99) for months now. Called in to have this changed and was told that they could only down grade the account if I repaid the $250 initiation fee. That’s ridiculous, so I asked to cancel the membership. They won’t let you cancel your membership over the phone. You have to go in person, during business hours 9-5 m-f. Or print and mail a cancellation form in. Horrible customer service policies.

Esporta fitness was great until I moved out of state and per the contract you are not obligated to continue services if you move more that 25 miles out of the particular contact address. So I moved and they tried there hardest to keep charging me for services I no longer could access. Long story short if your planning on getting a personal trainer the contact is 12 months and if your planning to commit great if not you better be relocating more than 25 miles out. They are so slow and getting out today that co tract was a relief!

This gym is so funny. I show up Sunday morning to stand with 15 other people because they were supposed to open at 8 but it is now 8:20, locked and nobody open. I’ve been going here since July 2021. There’s been a complete turn over of employees but it’s an enjoyable gym - my favorite one I’ve had.

I will say some of the other members cause the only problems/annoyances I’ve had here. Frequently unracked weights left randomly after the new year began. To no fault of the management.

I haven’t taken any classes but the last personal training manager(? I think? Not sure) was always kind to me and welcomed me in. He doesn’t work there anymore. But I would recommend the gym to anyone

Cale, Benny, Nick, and Brian are so great. They are knowledgeable, not pushy, inviting, upbeat, easy to talk to. They taught me the proper way to use some of the machines and to do certain exercises. They are always motivating. The people at the gym are friendly and I feel safe. It's a great gym environment and I would recommend it to anyone.

Worst experience ever.... staff rude and just horrible.... I wouldn't recommend this gym especially the Stapley location to anybody.

They do not return calls and when they do get around to it days later they give you a lame excuse that it was your phone not working.

I would give this location a -5 star review.... Horrible.

Been going here for years now and never had an issue with hygiene with this place, which is a big concern nowadays. Staff is always willing to say hi, machines are kept in good shape, and the locker room stays clean. Can't really ask for more, great gym.

Guest privilege is advertised as a perk, but they make your guest sign in every single time with a number and email so they can spam them into joining the club.

Way to advertise a perk and instead use it as a funnel to annoy people into memberships.

I had a blast here! I was in town for a week and went to their gym pretty much everyday. They have everything you’re looking for, from a pool, to lifting equipment and even racquetball and basketball. The staff was cool and the whole place had a really great vibe. I’ll definitely be back when I’m in the Phoenix area.

This place is very clean ...not as crowded as other gyms (one of the reasons why I move to this gym) have pretty much everything u need ...they just opened the sauna !!! Super excited about that ...this place also have several different classes u can attend to ... equipment looks new and very well taken care of ...they have a pool and jacuzzi! So super nice prices are reasonable

Great gym, really close to my house. Only thing I would changed would be the hours, wish it was at least open until midnight. I get off work late sometimes and it’s kind of a drag having to go to the Riverview location to get a workout in

Been going to this gym since it opened. Great place! I take full advantage of most amenities especially the racquetball courts. If you want to get in on a pickup basketball game, this is the place. There seems to be a sense of community at this location. I’ve been to others, but drive by the one near my house to go here. Staff is super helpful, especially Miguel. I highly recommend it! Very clean throughout, and this location’s layout is perfect!
