The 3.5 star rating is accurate for this facility. Just joined, today was my first day there and I’m pretty disappointed. The showers smelled like straight sewage. I asked another member about it and he says it’s always that way but you get used to it. There’s only 1 swimsuit dryer and it’s broke. Place has a grimy feel to it. Just feels dirty. It’s the only gym with a sauna by me so I go to it, but it’s nowhere near worth the money. I’ll probably only last a few months before I’m too grossed out to continue.

Reading these reviews, I had to chime in. I travel a lot and have been to several Lifetime locations across the country — it’s actually a running joke with my wife that I want to see how many Lifetimes I can visit in my “lifetime.” So far I’ve been to:
• 2 in Naperville
• 1 in Long Island
• 1 in San Diego
• 2 in Fullerton
• 1 in Colorado Springs
All of them were nice — but in comparison, the Gilbert Lifetime has been one of the cleanest and overall nicest gems of them all.
To see people claim that other locations are great but this one “doesn’t meet the same standards” is honestly a joke. The bathrooms are very clean, the staff is professional, and while it gets busy at times, it’s no different than any other gym. I usually go in the mornings, and even then I wouldn’t call it overcrowded. If someone’s on a machine, give it five minutes and it opens up. That’s normal gym life.
If anything, the only thing I’d love to see is maybe another leg extension machine — but that’s just nitpicking.
Overall, this location is top-tier.

Increasing pricing frequently, dress code is out the window and don't ever try to pay with cash. They'll look at you with their grade school math skills like you're crazy. They've gone cashless. So insane you have a cafe that doesn't accept cash for $5-$10 items
Received an email an 11/6/2024 my fees are going to go up and the very next day I receive an email that the club is shut down to ongoing incident. Smdh!
Received an email on 10/30 that membership is going up $10. Just a year later from last price increase. And management trys to soften the load by saying Im still paying $60 less than new members. Problem with that is I'm paying over 100% more since originally joining.

Gilbert, AZ has Cold Plunge in the common area which makes it a pleasant place to do heat and cold sessions. LifeTime makes building muscle, gaining strength, recovery and living Life convenient. The Cold Plunge should be a signature amenity at all locations. All other amenities are available as well.

It’s a good gym with nice people and relatively clean equipment. If you want to come in to do some cardio and have a social hour around 1pm on a weekday, this is the place be! If you take your weight lifting seriously, you may be better off elsewhere. They have an abundance of squat racks, but they are taken up half the time for group fitness classes. They have around 1 of every machine, but I find people lining up to use one specific machine at a time. (And half the equipment is the brand Hoist.. take that as you will) They have about 12 benches for free weights. However, if you come during a busy time good luck getting a bench because again, people are lining up just to snag a bench. (And once you do finally get a bench everyone just stares at you until you get off because they want your spot). I always come in with a plan in mind for what I want to workout and accomplish, but find myself more times than not having to adjust my plan because there is just so many people with not enough equipment or room. Again, it is a good gym, but it’s definitely giving overcrowded ‘affordable country club’ more than anything- and I can totally respect that’s what some people are looking for! However, as previously said, if you want to take your workouts seriously you may want to consider going somewhere else.
Also one thing that I can’t make excuses for is the restrooms in the women’s locker room. The locks on the doors don’t work and so you have to shut the door and pray no one tries to push it open on you. I brought this up to a staff member months ago and nothing has been done…

This is a great gym. I went there when I was traveling. The staff is very friendly. Don't listen to all these fake negative reviews. Most are probably from some troll farm, trying to advance a specific agenda. This gym is just what you'd expect, if you were a lifetime member. The only comment I could make is i felt the AC was on a bit high, but I felt that in most buildings when i visit AZ.

Overrated and pricey. Once you’re in, they keep increasing what you pay for membership and if you need something from them, their policies are not beneficial to the members.
Go to another gym unless you don’t care about paying too much each month.
As a follow-up, I am happy to report that I cancelled my membership and joined another club. Couldn’t be happier with having left.

From the beginning of the day- front desk (with Karen) to the moment we left for the day (day pass) it was an extremely unpleasant experience. Everyone was extremely rude. The children from kids club were asked to come into the family CHANGING ROOM and about 30 kids came in all at once, STAMPEEDING OVER MY ONE YEAR OLD, abruptly falling on his scull. I went to complain and talk to the manager and NO ONE CARED including the girls supposedly monitoring these kids in kids club. I ended up taking my son to the hospital for observation as he would not stop crying. The facility will be hearing from me soon. SINCE THEY HAD NO AUDACITY to call me as I left my name and #.

Update 7/4/25. Prices go up $30 without notification... No email, no text, just hope you won't catch it?? Kids academy hours are a joke any time they decide to change the hours. Don't trust the website, they don't do what it says. Says 2pm today on website and you get here and they say it's 1230. Everytime around a holiday they're barely open until noon. Barely open until 2 on weekends as it is. Mountainside has better kids academy hours for 200 less a month. Probably leaving soon... Been a member for 15 years, sad that they continue to get worse
Great gym! Eucalyptus steam rooms, giant water slides at the pools, lots of windows in the workout area and great equipment! Lockers included with membership- 4 digit pass code locked.. Free towel service. Daycare is great, but no cameras like some of the other gyms. Would be nice to be able to check on your little one while you're working out.. full court basketball hoop, healthy food in the cafeteria, giant rock climbing wall, racketball courts, pickleball courts parents night out. Great environment with tons of amenities, what's not to love?

In comparison to other gyms it’s okay but this is definitely the worst lifetime I’ve ever been to. It’s always overcrowded, the machines and equipment are outdated and leave black residue on your clothes and hands. There’s also very limited equipment especially for legs. There’s only 1 quad extension etc… The bathrooms are dirty and always out of order and there’s only 5 stalls in each bathroom so there’s usually a line. I’m just very disappointed coming from other lifetimes that have been well worth the price.

When my original trainer went on maternity leave, I was fortunate to be paired with Moon. Even though I wasn’t his original client, he welcomed me without hesitation and truly went above and beyond from day one.
His training style is refreshingly unique—he focuses on engaging muscles I didn’t even realize I had, making every session both challenging and incredibly effective. I’ve noticed a real difference in how my body feels and performs. He brings creativity, precision, and a deep understanding of fitness to every workout.
I’m genuinely grateful for the time and effort he invests in helping me grow stronger and more confident each week. Highly recommend!

Moon is the best personal trainer I have ever had! He is extremely patient while still motivating me to reach my goals. After five months of training with him, I have lost over 35 pounds, and he has helped me rebuild the muscles around the injured areas!

My Wife and I joined Life Time Fitness in Gilbert a few weeks ago. It had been a couple of years since we belonged to a gym, we see now why Life Time comes so highly recommended. We decided that we should start with a trainer to get started. Moon ended up as our trainer and we couldn’t ask for anyone that is as awesome as Moon is!! We had 3 sessions so far. Each session worked on different parts of the body. Moon is very passionate on his training and after each session we’re tired but excited for our next session. Thank you, Moon, for making our training sessions exciting and a great workout. We’re always looking forward to the next session!! Moon and Life Time are the best!!

I wanted to take the time to thank Moon Bradley for training me for a month. The most impactful part of my training was Moon's approach in not only working major muscles but also the smaller not so visible muscle groups that support the major groups. In addition, his unconventional approach of training while also using conventional methods brought results that I can continue to use in my own time. It was intriguing to see the various exercises he can utilize from the various machines, most would never think of doing. Finally, I appreciate the stretching exercises we did and the links he provided for me to continue to do. Thanks again Moon you rock!

My wife, son, and I came in for a tour today. We were greeted by 4 people at the desk. Everyone was extremely friendly and welcoming. Bethany took us on a tour of the facility. The place is very impressive. The basketball courts were just redone and the facility was very clean.
The kids club area is very large with multiple areas including a play structure inside and outside and also a mini basketball court with low hoops for kids. There is also a rock wall for kids 5 and older. The family lockers have a key code on them so not just anyone can enter. Very safe and secure.
The parking lot was large enough for parking and the indoor outdoor pool with slides really keeps the guests spread out so it doesn’t seem crowded at all.
There are saunas, classes, a cold water plunge(opening this month) and so many things. Definitely a resort style gym.
We would recommend this gym to anyone that’s wants to work out and hang out at a very friendly professional atmosphere.

All the Yoga Instructors are amazing. They all have their own unique strengths. I am amazed at how well Alex has the yoga peogram humming along. Alex has the most amazing classes, and Brittnee, Brook, Ashley and Shelly offer their own unique classes. Each one has there own strengths, and together they create an amazing experience. One thing I love about Alex’s class is her free flow movement. She builds up enough sequences that you actually learn to just keep going, and stop worrying if you are following each sequence. It’s like a dance yoga. Turn up the heat, play some good music and it’s like a meditation musical movement class. Chaos, calm, contentment. Give them all raises.

Update Part 2: Love the emails every year about how I’m a valued member but demand is so high and to maintain such a high degree of excellence.. blah blah.. they have to raise my membership dues yet again. Yet, when equipment breaks at this location, it’ll sit broken for weeks, if not a month or more. I’ve never seen them mop or clean the basketball court in the years I’ve been going here. Yet the GM will make sure he walks around awkwardly with a little vacuum while you’re working out, because that’s what needs to be done most!
Make sure you don’t ever leave anything nice here. If you’re lucky and it’s turned into their lost and found, you still won’t get it back as it’ll just magically “disappear” when you go to pick it up. Had this happen with a pair of basketball shoes.
The only positive about this specific Lifetime location is that there are a couple of younger gentleman that work at the front desk that are very kind.
**Update - reducing to 1-star. Walked into the gym today and the entire place stunk of rotten eggs/sewage gas - gave me a headache. This Lifetime needs to get their act together.
Lifetime Fitness is a premium workout experience and I’ve been a big fan for years. However, this location has some issues that I hope management/corporate can correct:
1. Poor air quality - today the gym smelled like smoke/ash tray - I know there has been some smoke outside from a brush fire but please upgrade your indoor air filters to ensure there is healthy indoor air quality for working out. You regularly notice people coughing/sneezing/etc. in this gym. When it’s not smoke, it’s dust, or particles from the construction going on inside. A premium gym should take air quality serious. Please address this!!
2. After converting the 2nd basketball court to Pickleball, it’s been very difficult to play basketball on the remaining court. There are frequently kid clubs/events using it. One major reason I and others pay a premium with lifetime is their historically nice basketball courts. Also, it’s unacceptable to not clean the courts after these events to ensure a safe court free of debris. And the fact that you make members pay like $5-10 to reserve a pickleball court is ridiculous!
3. Your Alpha classes taking up many of the Olympic lifting-squat rack stations during prime time hours (5pm-6:30pm) Monday-Thursday is very frustrating. They use those stations even though most of the time they aren’t even squatting or doing Olympic lifts. If you’re going to do this, please add more stations for the rest of your members!! They also blast music from portable speakers that is obnoxious for members trying to listen to their own music. You already have speakers playing music around the gym, so this is just annoying.
I know I’m not the only patron who feels this way. Whereas other lifetime locations excel, this particular location falls far short of expectations. Members paying a premium price for a gym, should receive a premium experience.

Very sketchy corporation. Canceled my membership months ago, still being charged and just noticed. They make sure not to email any receipts so that they can continue to keep the scam running. Called them to sort it out (on hold for an hour) and then basically told “yeah sorry, you never canceled.” Lol. I am 100% positive that I did cancel. What an absolute joke. If you want to cancel your membership. I recommend calling your bank and ordering a new card. They will continue to charge you long after the fact. I’m reporting them to the AG along with their merchant company. They’ll be investigated soon.

Sat there for 30 minutes. Haven’t been to the gym in 2 years… I request to finally cancel my membership, and they still charged me with their 30 day notice, and an additional Amount until the 30 days were up.. lol $120 for two years. I never showed up once. That is $2,800 they took from me, but the extra 30 days … was a must. It may be less than that as I believe I was paying $15 per month for a few months.
That being said, I feel like common sense and decency would say hey, let’s give this guy a break. lol
Anyway… gym is nice, but they changed the basketball nets around, everytime I’d go, I was never really to shoot around. Which was partial reason why I stopped going.
Was too busy, in my opinion, during the times I was able to make it in.

I have been a member of Life Time for 15 years. On top of being the nicest and most family orientated gym available, I want to talk about something else that I wouldn’t have thought of in a million years.
About two weeks ago, October 16, 2024, I was upstairs lifting weights. While walking from one area to the next I fell over dead, as in no pulse and not breathing. At that moment somebody caught my head before it hit the ground, saving me from head injury. Then they immediately started CPR. Life Time has a public defibrillator on site which they used to restart my heart bringing me back to life, before the paramedics even arrived.
At the hospital I was told that I had suffered from cardiac arrest. The doctors all shook my hand congratulating me for being the first patient they have heard of being saved by a public defibrillator. The doctors further stated; the reason I’m the first is they usually don’t work, because they are not maintained.
About five days later I went back to the gym to thank them for saving my life not sure of how I would be received. I was welcomed back with a big hug, and the warmest welcome that I could have ever imagined.
For that I want to give a big shout out to Life Time for saving my life. When it is a matter of life and death Life Time has your back. For that I will be eternally grateful.

My husband and I are looking for a new gym in our area and decided to check out lifetime in gilbert on a Sunday afternoon. We walk into the front desk and asked for a day pass to test out the gym. We were told, you are not allowed to drop in without a tour and no one was there to give us one. On top of that it's 40$ for a day pass. I don't know about you but I think I can find my way around a gym. I feel like it's a very inconvenient way of bringing in new members. We already did the hard part of walking through the door.

Prices keep increasing. Staff is rude and unprofessional. Machines don’t work , I can never use the pool. Stuff goes missing. People steal. But what really got me is the way the people who work here treat you like your garbage and look at you like you’re stupid. Such a disappointment. Don’t waste your money on this awful gym

This happened to my sweet baby in the childcare area. Sharp corners everywhere. Never let these people near your child! Think twice if the workout is worth it.

I’ve gone to gyms all of my adult life and I’ve never experienced the employees ruining such a great facility like this location. Every way you turn, you’re getting scolded for breaking some pathetic rule. The management is rude to everyone and they speak condescending to you. The lifespa front desk women are incompetent. The pickleball court gal doesn’t like when kids reserve times to play on “her courts” because she doesn’t think they will know how to play. Lifeguards are heartless and rude. It’s just miserable being there, even though I pay $220 to go there per month, after experiencing what I have, you couldn’t pay me enough to attend this gym.

Having been to multiple gyms, in multiple states, let me leave a fair and honest review of my experience at Lifetime. Having read some previous reviews, it is obvious to me people are coming up with any and every made up excuse that they can think of to not give Lifetime the credit it deserves.
Cleanliness? You can’t go to a cleaner place. They have people specifically to walk around and clean all day everyday. Are you kidding? Can that guy come by my house next?
Lots of employees of gyms are unhappy for one reason or another. Maybe there’s something in the water? The people at Lifetime are all extremely happy and honestly want to see you succeed. Some trainers like Josh, and Evan want you to reach your goals so bad, they are willing to workout alongside you. People need to be honest, Lifetime is a terrific gym, it doesn’t get much better.
For some people, gym burnout does happen. In those times you need to change up your routine and try something completely different. Luckily Lifetime offers many classes. I’ve been taking Alpha for a few sessions. Josh really knows how to get the most out of you. He mixes it up daily so every class is new and exciting. One day I hope to be as strong as that guy! Talk about big muscles!
Josh really knows his stuff. But so does Linsey. She’s always making sure people understand why they are and need to be doing certain exercises.
Lifetime is like a country club in that it shares a building with quality amenities near by. For example I like to get my haircut there. Waiting for my appointment? No problem, I can relax on one of their comfy recliners and watch tv. Sweaty from a good workout? No worries. They can wash your hair and clean you up right there.
Lifetime really offers a lot which is where the animosity may creep in for some people. Lifetime is not a ‘fly by night’, cheapo gym. Some people may use that as reason to denigrate and trash Lifetime. One thing you learn as you get older, is that you get what you pay for. If you can only afford a place that is strictly a gym, and nothing else, Lifetime may not be for you, sorry. EOS or Moutainside may be more what you’re looking for. But if counting pennies is not one of your hobbies, Lifetime provides everything you could need.

Cleanliness in the men’s locker room/bathroom needs to be addressed. It’s been 3 months I have yet to see them actually clean the floor, dividers or just the bathroom area in general. There is so much urine on the floor it’s not only smells horribly but It is visible. Basic maintenance such as cleaning the bathrooms should be a standard that is upheld.

So much lacks. Things are always broken, it’s not clean, half of the front desk are rude when you come in, people (including workers) steal EVERYTHING from wallets and bags to swimsuits and water bottles. The dues go up every other month even though there are less amenities and open hour and less classes offered then ever. I was grandfathered in from 13 years ago and then maybe 9 years ago the manager at the time cancelled my membership and started me on a new one so he could get more credits but my price went up and no one would help. All in all, it sucks that this is the only gym in the area with certain amenities, but the people who work there, the people who go there, everything just sucks. I would give no stars, but you can’t, so my 1 star goes to the dance instructors- McKenna Sharon and Christina are the ONLY reason my family still goes. They need a raise.

This review is not about the facility. One of the lifetime employees here was dishonest.
My wife's car was hit by one of the employees here in the parking lot a few months ago. It was during his work time and he immediately apologized and gave his insurance information to my wife. He was trying to offer cash but my wife turned it down.
However, later on he lied to the insurance company and gave false statement and tried to turn the liability back on my wife.
We reported this accident to both Lifetime and the Gilbert police, and lifetime admitted they have the video footage of the accident but was unable to provide to us.
I know lifetime is not legally required to help us, but we are still very disappointed at the management's decision, as they decided to cover this employee instead of facing the truth.

I have been a member of lifetime for 5+ years and have been generally happy there.Today however, I was informed that I was welcome only during limited hours- basically the hours most convenient for them. This is because my membership is paid for by Silver Slippers , Medicare, therefore making me a second class member. If Lifetime doesn't want me they should discontinue their agreement with Medicare .

Man, I love this Lifetime! Only because of my guy Danny, who works at life Café! He does such a wonderful job, every day he provides exceptional service, and always has a smile on his face. I’m truly grateful for the amount of care he has for Each member. Thank you Dani for being so awesome!👏🏼

Classes are amazing, I love the camaraderie of working out with others and having the push from the instructors. Equipment is great. Hot yoga is fantastic. Sauna, steam room, hot tub, excellent locker rooms, so many amenities.

Love lifetime fitness. There facilities are well maintained, friendly staff. I just moved to Gilbert. I previously went to the location on Alma school and Elliott and loved it. The only complaint I have about this new location I’m going to is cardio machines need to be updated. Other than that it’s great. 🤓

I’ve been a member for 15+ years. It’s a mile from my house and I’m probably gonna be a member for life.
That said my only gripe and I’m not alone here based on sauna conversations, is with their attempt at a CrossFit-ish copycat they have been trying for a few years. They get a few members to pay a premium on top of their regular membership to partake in the class. They take-over 20-25% of the weight room floor space for 10 extra paying members. That’s 10 racks, 3 bikes, and a handful of rowers. They play their own “music” on a large speaker that drowns out whatever you were trying to listen to in your ear buds.
I get kicked off equipment regularly mid workout bc they have to start a class. I respect their wanting to make a profit. You just can’t take over the general use gym space to do it.. If you want to be a CrossFit gym I’d suggest building a separate space for it in the back. 🤷🏼♂️

This is a high quality gym with all the amenities you could ask for: pool, sauna, classes, trainers, weights, cardio, spa, basketball, locker rooms, rock climbing wall, basketball, pickleball, and more! The tradeoff is a high monthly membership fee and very packed at peak times, with occasional closures due to maintenance and upgrades.

This is where you go for an upscale gym experience. You will have access to elite equipment, trainers, and classes. There are indoor and outdoor swimming pools and fully equipped locker rooms. The kids club is fun for all ages, but always packed. The cafe has good food, and I have yet to use spa services, but i will make the assumption that they are clean and elite just like the rest of the club.

Poor service. Hardly say hello cant answet the phone to members what time they close on new years . I will come back and update if these things are fixed. Staff is mostly friendly hence the two but its very difficult go above that. As one of the reviewers mentioned the lockers usally have hair in them. Actually; there's excess hair just about everywhere like on the cardio, the mats, the sauna. Ventaliation is not good especially during busier times. The second floor has a very strong cigarette smell. I can hardly finish workout without coughin or sneezing.

Great gym but very poor leadership. I left the facility several times because their scheduled classes every afternoon. For 4 persons that are attending the class they're using huge speakers, very disturbing and disrespecting everyone else with the loud music. When I complained about it I was told that they are paying for the classes, anyway they'll try to solve this issue but that never happened. Next time I'll make sure to use my own speakers too.

In December of 2022 I had some cowardly excuse of a man Stole my Rolex Watch out of my locker in the Gilbert gym!!! I have been a member since 2005 and could not believe it. The follow up from lifetime was dismal. Unfortunately the city of Gilbert does not offer much for gyms.

Been a member at Lifetime for years, however I will be finding alternatives for my daily workouts now. Literally half the gym is "reserved" around the clock for classes. All of the good equipment is reserved for classes. I've been using the same treadmill at the same time daily for over a year. Today I was interrupted and told to move because one of the 3 people a class, in an area of 30 treadmills was embarrassed other people could look at them. I told them that I would be happy to use another machine in the future but I was going to finish my workout. They told me that if I didn't move that they would call the cops and trespass me, so I decided it's time to find another gym. You have a massive area with 10% occupancy at 0500 and no one else can use any of the equipment. If you are a member your only option is to work out on the legacy cardio equipment, weight lifting area only has one of each (very limited selection) machine. Even at 0500 you're waiting for weight lifting equipment because they installed 20 squat racks for classes. If you are going to lifetime for classes, great. But if you just want to workout, find somewhere else!

Very disappointed as I have been a member of this gym for over a year. In the duration of that time the gym has been under construction for more than half of the last year. This construction has involved plastic construction walls being made in the main gym / cardio area, sauna being closed for extended periods multiple times, and closure of the basketball area for months due to renovations. During my time here I feel that I have never had access to the promised amenities. Yet I have been patient for an entire year not complaining once.
This gym is also packed with people a majority of the time.
I was stunned to get an email stating that my rates will be RAISED monthly when this gym has not provided their members with the promised amenities for an extended period.
I’ve also noticed management change multiple times in the last year. Unfortunately will need to look for a new gym. I’ve heard more than great things about other local facilities.
