Emaleigh, whom works at the front desk, is what makes this gym worth rating 5 stars. Not only is she friendly, helpful, caring, and attentive, but she’s also one of the hardest workers in the room when it comes to training. She’s one of my many hard working clients and every session I have with her, is fun and rewarding. She gets better every session. I look forward to seeing her smile every time I clock on for work. :)

My first year here was honestly not to bad but 2 years in and it’s a joke. I had got threatened by some girls saying they wanted to jump me based off misinformation. When this happened I let the trainer JR know and he told he will watch my back and if I ever have any problems let him know and I quote “I have been looking for a reason to kick those girls out so I will kick them out right now if you want” . Over these few months these girls never physically came in contact with me but you know then vibe when someone is trying to get to you. Over this time as well I had noticed JR being very friendly with these girls hugging them whatever so that right there made me lose trust in him now. Fast forward to today these girls were were in a area just talking and I was trying to workout in that area and I noticed another girl trying to workout and kept looking around at them to make sure she wasn’t in their way so I just asked maybe you could move over if you guys aren’t doing anything and one of them gets an attitude with me mind you JR is in front of all of this and he says nothing so I go talk to management and explain from when this happened to what just happened and expressed how I feel I have no safe space here and now even the trainers aren’t my safe space. She calls JR to talk about this and she asked about them threatening me. I looked at him and said if you say you don’t know I’ve lost all trust he looks like a deer in the headlights and says I don’t wanna be in the middle I’m leaving. So I ended up canceling my membership because this place is toxic. The conversations I’ve heard trainers talk about other people the condoning of my situation and basically telling me to shrug it off. I will also say I’m not the only person who has had issues with these girls so I did unfortunately cancel my membership because this gym doesn’t value a non toxic environment.

Employee wise besides JR I would say everyone is pretty friendly and my 2 stars goes to childcare because they are awesome and the main reason I stayed. My son truly loved all the girls in there so I do recommend them for their good childcare. They definitely have a good system and routine in childcare.

I know there’s not much this gym could do about my situation with the girls but as for JR as a trainer his job is to train not make friends and with him knowing I felt unsafe and now wants to act like he never knew that happened is the main reason I canceled because had they actually jumped me I see who’s side this gym would be on.

Waited over 30 minutes after calling the front desk for towels in the locker room. Ended up giving up on showering, only to walk out and see two staff members holding towels at the front desk. Really disappointing experience poor customer service and misleading advertising about the “free month.” Not what I’d expect from a gym that markets itself as premium.

I am extremely happy with this gym & i appreciate their employees. I was recently involved in an altercation where 2 other females at the gym were harassing me, and threatening to jump me outside of the gym. After The girls had already harassed me multiple times, I reached out to management. I am very happy about how they handled the situation. They Expressed that they do not accept that behavior, and after assessing the situation, they canceled the girls member memberships. The Gym managers Take the safety of their members serious and I appreciate that. Managers after even checked on me & made sure I was continuing to feel safe at that gym. Happy with Mountside!

Mitchell’s Friday Zumba class at Mountainside is the best way to kick off the weekend! Her energy is contagious, her choreography is so much fun, and she makes everyone—no matter their skill level—feel confident and included. You can tell she truly loves what she does, and that passion fills the entire room.

And a big shoutout to Krissy at the front desk—she’s always so friendly and welcoming! Her warm smile and positive attitude set the tone before class even begins. Between Krissy’s kindness and Mitchell’s high-energy workout, Mountainside has become my favorite place to be on Fridays.

I’m extremely disappointed with the way I was treated by one of the gym employees, Rocky. I was involved in a conversation with another that the other member escalated into something bigger. and rather than handling the situation in a fair and professional manner, Rocky (Rocio) was completely dismissive of my side of the story. She refused to hear me out and showed clear bias in her actions.

Instead of working to understand the situation or de-escalate it, she revoked my membership without explanation or a chance for proper dialogue. When I attempted to ask reasonable questions about my membership and the reasoning behind her decision, she threatened to call the police on me — which felt completely unwarranted and escalated things unnecessarily.

To make matters worse, while I was at the gym, the person I had the altercation with had a friend approach and threaten me. Despite this clear intimidation, Rocky did not take any action against them. It felt like I was singled out while others involved faced no consequences at all.

This experience left me feeling disrespected and unfairly treated. As someone who values a safe and welcoming gym environment, I expected more professionalism and fairness from the staff — especially someone in Rocky’s position. I hope the gym takes this feedback seriously and takes appropriate steps to ensure situations like this are handled with more integrity and balance in the future.

I could not say enough great things about Trinity the childcare manager! My boys have been going to her childcare for almost 2 years now and my kids are now 2 and 4. The amount of care that her and her staff have showed towards my kids is amazing! Highly recommend Avondale location! I have gone to other locations managed under other childcare managers and I have to say Trinity does an amazing job caring after children and managing her staff!

They gym it self is very nice which is why my husband and I decided to join, but if you are going to child care do not sign up! We were members for roughly 4 months and have been using the child care consistently, but yesterday when my husband picked up our daughter THEY HANDED HIM THE WRONG KID!!! Today we both went to talk about the incident and not once were they apologetic, and when they looked at the cameras their first reaction was to ask up if we wanted to cancel the membership (but not once did they show us the footage) turned out the person who did that was the day care manager herself (Trinity) who kept denying that she was not going to hand him the wrong child. If we have to tell you “THAT IS NOT MY KID” then maybe you shouldn’t be a manager of a daycare. Needless to say we did cancel the membership and will not be recommending this place to anyone

This is our 3rd month now at this gym and I can say it’s by far one of the best in the valley, what sold me was the phenomenal day care. They are so friendly, and caring for the kids! I’ve been at this gym for a few months now and was honestly hesitant to bring my kids at first, you never really know who’s watching them or how well they’re being cared for. But the childcare here has been so great, and it’s made a huge difference in my experience.

I usually speak to Yesenia when I drop off and pick up, and she’s been amazing from day one. She’s always so kind and patient, and I’ve seen her handle busy days with a room full of kids like it’s no big deal. Somehow she manages to give each child attention and make them feel comfortable. My kids are always happy to see her, and I feel completely at ease knowing they’re in such good hands.

We joined this particular gym for two main reasons, the equipment and the kid's area. The amount of machines available is great. There's a few machines in this gym that our previous gym did not have. Secondly, the kid's area is what really sold us. They have something for everyone. There's a bounce house, a TV room, basketball court, and more. But the staff is what makes the kid area shine. Our kids adore their teachers Yesenia and Jennifer. They are sweet to the kids and greet everyone, kid's and parents, who go in. They also speak Spanish which I think is a huge plus for the parents who feel more comfortable speaking Spanish and for the younger kids who only know Spanish. Overall great gym.

Ayla’s class is not for those that are coming in to look cute and just had a new hairdo , she absolutely kills her group fitness courses! Every time I think I’m going to breeze through, she turns the intensity up to really make sure we are pushed!

She is always welcoming and motivating at the front desk, ensuring my spirits are high and I get a great workout in! I can’t imagine Mountainside Fitness without Ayla Nelson!

I have been going to mountainside Avondale since March and love it. I love Ayla’s muscle classes. She is so motivating. The only complaint I have is that everyone loves her, so her classes fill up quick! My kids also love the childcare and I feel very comfortable leaving them there while I work out. Great facility!!

I like this gym for its cleanliness, ideal childcare hours and amenities, and modern cardio equipment. I don’t like that it’s small, has a subpar abdominal machine selection and staff could be friendlier (not rude, but not very welcoming either)

I’d like to see an uplifted attitude from the staff to create a better vibe, more ab machines and softer and bigger workout towels.

Mountainside is comparable to EOS, some components are better than EOS (cleanliness, newer machines, towels, better childcare) but EOS thrives in regards to having a much larger workout selection (not just abs - everything). EOS is priced lower and offers locations out of state (ideal for those who travel in their career). This is why I carry both memberships.

I recently joined Mountainside and I'm pretty happy with my experience so far. The equipment is new and well-maintained, and the gym is always clean. What really makes this place stand out, though, is the staff. I want to give a special shoutout to Juan, who works at the front desk. He's always super friendly and helpful, greeting everyone with a smile. I had some questions about the different membership options when I first signed up, and he patiently explained everything to me. He really goes above and beyond to make sure everyone feels welcome and supported.

Overall, I'd highly recommend Fitness First Gym. It's a great place to work out, and the staff, especially Juan, are top-notch!
