I have had a membership at Mountainside Fitness for two years and almost two months now and love it! I have worked out multiple times at differentt locations of La Fitness, Eos, Independence Gym, The Village, and even Planet Fitness but find this Mountainside to have the vibe I like! Even though I've been to 8 locations multiple times, Shae is my favorite! The staff are amazing, the gym goers are respectful, the gym is clean and well supplied, red light sauna, steam room, basketball half court, punching bag, massage chairs, separate rooms for classes, and soon to be cold plunge!! There is always cool cars there too which is the cherry on top! I drive 20 mins each way instead of going to the Tempe One (closer to my house) because it really is that GREAT!

6. During hot months, temperature is kept too warm inside the building.

Huge success! Any of you who can feel that aging is winning the race, stop at the personal trainer’s desk and ask to speak to the trainer, John McKinney! He is so wonderful. I’m 71 and he has been a huge factor in my goal to become stronger, more flexible and consistent with my exercise. He observes you so closely and corrects your form to ensure you don’t get injured. He is patient, super encouraging (which I need), and very detail-oriented. He is invested every minute he’s training you. I can’t praise him enough. I was so rusty when I started working with him. Not anymore. I never thought could afford a personal trainer but I saw where my physical body was headed. Not good. Yeah to John. Mountainside has a high caliber trainer!

I really love Mountainside Fitness — especially because of the Kids Club! My kids have so much fun there, and it gives me a chance to work out and recharge. I come almost every day for about two hours, and it’s totally worth it. The smoothies are great (just make sure you find the right people who really know how to make them 😉).

I’m even more excited now that they’re adding a cold plunge, infrared, and red light therapy — it’s becoming my favorite gym! The only thing they could improve is fixing the equipment a bit faster — there’s been a leg press machine out for over a month. Come on, you can do better!

Things escalated in which she misinterpreted something I said, and said to me “the door is right there and you can leave”. Spoke with the district manager and he stated that their turnover rate is bad and they will always side with the managers no matter what, because to them, each customer is just a number. Very friendly staff, but horrible management. They don’t fix repairs forever. The leg extension machine has been torn apart for the last one month scratching the skin and I have got it to Management attention twice. To make it worse, it’s one of the most used machines and there is only one at such a large location.
The wipes keep running out and they take forever to fill them up. This location seems to keep adding members all the time making it extremely busy during busy hours and waiting forever to get to the machines.

This has gotta be the worst mountainside in the valley. Four machines that I wanted to use had "out of order" signs on them, and then I walked up to a squat rack and the bar smelled absolutely awful. I went to grab a wipe to clean it before using it and the wipe was BLACK when I was done. There's no way it has been cleaned anytime recently.

Also, the lockers don't have the automatic locks on them like the other Mountainsides, you have to bring your own lock.

The gym is good and the equipment is good but unfortunately I have to leave 1star because of their customer service and been billed twice for 8 months now.

I signed up for a membership and then I realized that I can get a lower price through my insurance. As a result, I stopped by and informed the General Manager of the store who asked me to email him the details. I did so and now I realized that for the past 8 months, Mountainside has been charging me $39.95 every month, even though I am paying this membership through Active & Fit, so I have been charged twice. I asked for a refund since I just followed the steps that their store manager asked me to follow (I showed them the email conversation with the manager that proves my point, too). Unfortunately, they declined to refund me because they said I should have signed a form (which the manager never asked me to) and the manager is no longer with the company so they do not honor his commitment to me. This is extremely frustrating and terrible business practice. I ask for refund for these 8 months I was charged twice because I followed their manager's advice on what to do.

UPDATE: Just a few days after posting this, the sauna was back to a safe 190-ish degrees and working properly. I spoke with the district manager and had a great conversation—I really appreciate how they addressed the issue head-on and resolved it so quickly. Updating my review to reflect my overall experience, which has always been excellent, especially with the 4:30 AM crew and Jaran. They consistently provide top-tier, 5-star service!

I love this gym! The only serious issue I’ve had was with the men’s sauna. Some people were tampering with it, placing wet paper towels on the sensor to force the heat up to dangerous levels. As a result, the sensor broke, and the temperature skyrocketed to 230-240 degrees—far beyond the safe range of 180-190. It was a major safety concern, and for a while, it seemed like nothing was being done about it.

Thankfully, the gym took action, and everything is back to normal. Great job handling the situation and maintaining the high standards that make this place a great spot to work out!

This gym has it all! Great equipment, nice people, and easy parking. It does get a little bit busy around the normal "gym hours" but it's large enough to accommodate everyone. The child care is phenomenal (managed by Jessica) and they have the best personal trainer in the Valley (Warren). He customizes every workout to his clients to improve strength, posture, and flexibility. He even does prenatal care and my wife never had an easier delivery. Hello, my name is Harry, I have mild autism and a nonverbal learning disorder. It is often hard for me to communicate with others. This is not the case with Mountainside. The staff are highly trained in the art of customer service. Each member takes the time to learn the person coming into the gym's name and greets them with their name and a smile.

The individuals who stick out to me the most when I go into Mountainside are Jazmine and Ryan. The managers worked hard to train these employees well. I always see them folding towels and finding something to do when they are working.

Ryan provides a chill vibe and engages and wants to know and hear about what the customer going to work out has to say. He was interested in what I am currently doing in my life. He is well-trained in the art of customer service.

The management team is highly trained and will also say hello and greet people coming into the gym. I often see the managers doing other jobs like cleaning up the locker room. The managers don't act like they are too good to do certain tasks and work with the team to get everything done.

I look forward to my next trip to the gym

I go there to work out and I’m questioned by staff about what I was explaining to them of what was talked about on the phone 10 mins ago. Turns out the guy I spoke to lied to me to get me to sign up to secure a membership. There was no deal saying you put $1 down and you get 45 days free???!they called that store which is shea location and spoke to the manager an she confirmed that it is not a deal that is active as of now and is not sure why he told me that. Jessica, the childcare manager at the PV Mountainside, is simply what makes this location so great! Every child’s face lights up when she greets them by name and asks about their day. Not only is she a favorite of the children but their parents as well. Parents stop to chat with her before and after their workouts. The relationship she has been able to create with the members and their children truly makes going to the PV location an incredible experience. She has also surrounded herself with employees that create a happy, healthy and safe environment for you kiddos to go!

Our family loves this place! I go 6 days a week and my kids have been attending the childcare at the Paradise Valley location since they were 4 weeks old. They have grown up with the childcare workers, specifically Jessica who is the childcare manager. They treat us like family and love our kids like their own! We feel extremely grateful to have a gym that provides such excellent childcare so my husband & I can workout daily! I would recommend to anyone!

I drive all the way up from Tempe to take classes with Jill at this gym! She is a truly amazing instructor!

However, even more importantly for me, the childcare team is so friendly, respectful, and responsible! I go to several different gyms, depending on if I’m lifting or taking classes, but the daycare team at PV mountainside is truly the best group I’ve encountered. I always feel safe leaving my littles with them!

I can’t say enough about this location and the amazing staff! Being a mom with two little kids, it is important to have a gym that has amazing childcare. The staff at this location goes above and beyond with caring for my girls and every other child that walks through their doors. This gym is the absolute best! I trust them more than I’ve ever trusted any gym with my money. My stepmom unexpectedly passed tragically back in Feb. She was only 54 and today just so happens to be her birthday. I moved immediately to be with my family across the country.. especially for my 16 year old sister (my stepmoms only daughter), and due to how intense of a time it was I was broke and honestly completely forgot about my gym membership. I explained this to them and they said we will forgive you for the entire time besides just this last month for what you owe!!! They had no further questions. Absolutely incredible. I was expecting at least some sort of payment plan. So now instead of owing 9 months of unpaid payments plus late charges I only owe $40. Plus, the environment of this gym and the equipment and all of the spaces/rooms are the best I’ve ever been to. I will forever recommend this place to anyone and everyone!!! Thank you guys so much you have no idea how much this helps me. 🤍

I love this gym for a multitude of reasons. The PV facility has great customer service at the front desk, group fitness instructors who strive to help clients improve their workouts, a general manager who rolls up his sleeves and works alongside his staff, and personal trainers who support the well being of their clients.
