I have been working out with Stevenson for 3 years and I can honestly say he is a miracle worker! After injuring my wrist in a workout class 5 years ago, I struggled with chronic weakness and the frustration of not being able to work out properly. Stevenson’s expertise not only got me back into working out, but he also strengthened my wrist to the point where I no longer have any pain or issues with it! It is amazing.

Since then, I’ve dealt with other challenges like tendinitis, and every time, Stevenson has been able to help my body heal and function properly in such a short amount of time. It has taken me awhile to write a review on Sommet Fitness because words cannot adequately describe the impact Steve Vicera has had on restoring my mobility and improving my quality of life.
After a bad accident in 2020, which resulted in a 2 week stay at Mayo hospital, 2 months in a wheel chair, a total hip and elbow replacement, 24 weeks with a cast/heavy brace on my arm, followed by six months of traditional occupational and physical therapy, I was still living with tight/weak muscles, poor balance and using a cane to walk.
In 2021, after much research on the internet, I booked an appointment with Steve at Sommet. Unlike some of the physical
therapists I had worked with, who caused me a lot of knee pain pushing exercises that I was too weak to do, Steve started very slowly.
He worked on breaking up scar tissue, gentle stretching and releasing tightness throughout my body. He slowly eased me into exercises and pilates when my body was ready. He was able to recognize the trauma I had been through both physically and emotionally.
Steve Vicera is truly a master at his craft and an expert in his field. In addition, I feel he has a gift of healing that reaches beyond his knowledge, education, skills and experience.
I highly recommend Steve if you are looking to improve your health/strength or if you have any physical limitations hindering you from enjoying your life. Steve works with ALL ages and ALL fitness levels.

As a physical therapist and active triathlete myself, I am extremely picky with the workouts I spend my time doing and even pickier with the trainers/instructors I trust! I have been doing Pilates with Steve at Sommet Fitness once a week for about 3 months now and have noticed countless changes but to my surprise I’m already seeing performance improvements in swimming and biking. My swim times and efficiency in the water have improved significantly, shoulder pain has decreased with swimming, and my power (watts) generated on the bike has also improved. I have no doubt these changes are due to improved mobility, core strength gains and learning how to engage muscles properly from the Pilates. This is the best little Pilates studio around. Steve, Chandler, and Mona are so thoughtful and caring when working with their clients. We started going to Sommet in the fall of 2021 and eventually ended up pairing with Chandler as our primary instructor. She's taken us from barely flexible weaklings to proud Pilates warriors. I ruptured my ACL from a ski accident back in January 2020. After surgery and physical therapy my knee still wasn’t healed fully and I had lost so much muscle on the injured leg. My husband and I found Sommet Fitness online. After reading the positive reviews and meeting Steve (the owner) for a complimentary Pilates session in his beautiful, state-of-the-art fitness studio, we decided to give it a try. Over the past year, my husband began to experience pain and inflammation in his knees and he was interested in finding out if Pilates may help. We enjoy an active lifestyle and my husband’s knee pain gradually affected his ability to hike, walk down stairs and perform other weight bearing exercises. My goal in taking Pilates was to strengthen my core and lessen the chronic muscle tension in certain areas of my body. It’s been 6 weeks since we started at Sommet fitness, and my husband feels stronger (especially in his legs), more physically balanced, and the best part…his knees are 80% better! Steve is hands down the best Pilates instructor I have ever had! I came in not knowing if he could help my rare case, I have a spinal cord injury that effects my right side and causes my right leg to be weak. 11 months ago, I was climbed the stairs to the Sommet Fitness studio mainly by pulling myself up by the handrails. (There is an elevator - I just refused to use it.) I felt weak, old, and sad. My steps were small and tentative. This unfortunate level of affairs resulted from worsening symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis and an operation for a ruptured Achilles tendon.
Today I can steadily climb the stairs without using the handrails. My stride is strong and confident. My inflammation index (relating to the rheumatoid arthritis condition) is within the range of a person without an inflammatory condition. My everyday senior-age aches and pains are well within tolerable limits. The strength and flexibility I've gained has allowed me to hike (easy trails) several times a week (Machu Picchu here I come!). I just don't feel old these days.
The magic Sommet has wrought is due to Steve's unflagging efforts, based on his deep knowledge of anatomy and kinesthetics, and his skill and uncanny ability to get the most out of his clients.

I started with Sommet about 9 months ago. As a young recipient of hip replacements (10years ago - age 54) for osteoarthritis I never received the much needed physical therapy following the surgeries. I was pretty much in constant and chronic pain unable to walk for any length of time much less climb stairs easily or get in and out of a car without chronic pain. I really believed I was destined to live with it. I initially went to evaluations at three different studios. It was pretty much hands down obvious that Steve and Chandler approached things differently in their assessment. My biggest concern was getting injured. I am writing this to tell you -with absolute certainty that they have changed my life! I go 3 times a week and each visit I am assessed for strength, stiffness and pain. Chandler analyzes where my weakness is EVERY visit and sometimes I just need to work out differently. I can now get in and out of car without holding on, climb stairs regularly and frequently without holding on, SLEEP w/o pain and I have resumed a normal life! When you make an investment in your physical wellbeing it is worth it - and I will say Sommet is WORTH IT! Thanks, you guys! - OH and I forgot to mention, I have lost 5 inches!!!!

Sommet Pilates and Steve have been life changing for me! I hurt my back a few years ago and found out it was a herniated disc. I did not want to go to surgery at my young age and tried physical therapy which helped to a small degree. A year later I had kids and hated that I was consciously thinking about my back every time I picked up my kids. I found Steve through a google search and went in for an initial evaluation. As soon as I started going through evaluation, I could tell that Steve was different and very knowledgeable. Within 2 weeks of individual sessions, I was pain free for most of the day. I continue to go regularly and my low back pain is improving and I feel as if the core strengthening is helping avoid future injury. I started with Steve in February 2017 after being diagnosed with Spondylolisthesis late Nov. 2016. I had tried other therapist and I was not getting any better and I was very limited in certain movements and in a great deal of pain, After starting with Steve I have improved significantly in my movemenst and a huge difference in my level of pain. I came to this place recommended by a friend. My first day we did some functional tests and talked about my goals. Even though I looked in shape, the tests revealed a lot of muscle imbalances and lack of control. So we developed a plan to work on getting muscle balance back and strengthening my core. Within a month people were making comments on my body changing (which I took with a grain of salt because it had only been a month), but at 3 months I definitely felt much different. I can honestly say I made gains in balance (as in not falling), strength and overall control. I'm now headed toward my first six months of a committed workout schedule for the first time in about ten years. Coming to this place has definitely been an investment for me, financially, but I do feel it has been worthwhile. I also love the atmosphere. I feel super comfortable working out here. This customer-centric approach is at the heart of every experience that I have had at Sommet, and it is truly a place where you feel important and valued as a client every time that you walk in the door. As an avid Pilates student for 13 years, I am amazed at how every class is uniquely challenging, with positive, motiving and highly trained instructors delivering a (literally) head to toe Pilates experience. I have achieved amazing growth in flexibility, strength and sculpting, and always walk out of the studio feeling inches taller than when I walked in! Instruction is always what differentiates a Pilates experience, and every instructor at Sommet is brilliant and aware of the latest developments in Pilates instruction. Before I started taking classes at Sommet, I was seeing orthopedic physicians and physical therapists for chronic knee pain. Since I have been taking classes at Sommet, the strength and flexibility that I have gained in my entire body has given me more relief than any treatment had been able to provide. The studio is immaculate and open, and “group class” is a term only – their small class size allows every student to get personal instruction and attention. This is not a place where an instructor is standing in front of students barking out instructions – Sommet provides a challenging, motivating, supportive Pilates experience that makes it an absolute pleasure to attend, where results are achieved, and where I feel like I am part of a very, very special place.
