As an RYT 200 for over a decade, I brought my husband here for a restorative yin trial class after receiving some medical diagnosis in his back and hips…from the moment we called for more info and set foot in the wellness center the energy and service was perfect. He was even offered the first-timer unlimited week package to try various instructors and classes. The desk staff showed us around to all the amenities and once in class the instructor was extremely helpful getting us set up. The class was well planned and explained well. Clean, inviting, peaceful and exactly what we were looking for, 10/10 recommend.

I’ve been to studios across the west and this is one of my favorites! Generous variety of times and styles. Healthy balance of yin and recover/relax offerings are my life staple. I feel safe to relax in public here and bring my audhd-queer self. Community is gentle, patient and supportive 🤲🫶🙏

This place is amazing. The staff is sweet and very nice, the new owners are wonderful people and the teachers are professional and very dedicated. The new space is bigger and they are able to hold more than one class at the same time. The perfect place in Phoenix to learn yoga. @urbanyoga.com

I love Urban Yoga! I have been a student here for several years. I have learned so much from the knowledgeable and mindful teachers. The variety of classes, class days and times and caring teachers and staff really add to the community spirit of the studio. Everyone is so kind and brings a unique gift to the space. I love that I feel like I can calm my mind and savor my yoga practice at Urban Yoga and look forward to coming to class each time.

Used to be such a cool studio. Since new ownership took over all my favorite classes keep disappearing. Used to be multiple yoga classes you'd be interested in taking everyday, now there's days with nothing available. Plus scheduling is super erratic with classes getting cancelled last minute. New location was supposed to change stuff but so far it's just more cancelled classes and huge class sizes that lack the personalized instruction you used to get.

I started out loving this studio unequivocally. I still think it's a great place. (Heads up: The photos on Google reflect a prior location. They are presently located within Urban Wellness Healing Center which you can check out for more current images.) You cannot lose with the $11 noon classes to check it out if your schedule allows it. Most of the instructors there are amazing and skilled at creating a wonderful experience that literally teaches you mindfulness and presence- experientially. I have anxiety at times and practicing yoga makes me feel light and amazing. I recommend Emily's classes (So good!), Didi's, Amy's and Madeline's. Seriously, everyone should do yoga. And I know of no substitute for the experience of a dedicated practice spot like Urban Yoga. For now, I have stopped practicing here due to distractions from this mindful movement reset that the studio has been unable to manage in my opinion, particularly distracting behaviors of other students that were happening in most of the classes I attended. I'm willing to accept that it's a "me" issue. Nonetheless, if I had to do it over again, I would avoid purchasing a membership at this studio and package class it.

I really enjoy this studio in central Phoenix. They offer a good variety of classes. Didi in particular is a great instructor with creative flows that really drop you in to your body. They offer classes in Spanish and legitimate, slow yin classes. Love the space and the people that go as well, very down to earth. Reasonable pricing for class packs and membership as well.

Excited to find this healing and nurturing yoga center. Gone to 3 classes already. Each instructor kind, knowledgeable and encouraging to fund what works for us individually. I've been afraid to get back in the rooms since leaving in 2020, but this is all that I needed again. Today was Yin yoga. My first time. Loved it!

I was visiting Phoenix from Chicago and am very happy I found this studio. It's a very nice spot with a chill vibe. All the classes I took had a similar feel but were done very well. They offer a great 2 week intro package if you're new or just visiting Phoenix. Also, the studio is close to downtown and has easy access to the 10 freeway

Urban yoga is my favorite studio in Phoenix. It is a simple studio in downtown. It has unique offerings, experienced teachers, and an excellent community. I also love that they are NOT heated studio (which is surprisingly uncommon in Phoenix). I recommend this studio to all of my friends! And now recommend it to all of google too!

I’ve been trying different studios in the area, this one is by far the most unwelcoming. I came for the Yoga 101 foundations class. I walked in and the guy there walked passed me and didn’t acknowledge me. That’s fine, so I said “good morning!” He responded that he was getting things set up and took the iPad propped it up, told me I could check-in and walked away. Being new, I wasn’t really sure what I was doing. I figured it out I guess but being the first one there I wasn’t sure. Every other place I had tried welcomed me and gave me a tour/run down. The class had only 3 people in it, including me. The instructor had asked “we all have taken yoga before, right?” Which I thought was odd as this is a yoga 101 class. She looked at the other 2 girls individually, let them answer, but never asked me. I brushed it off. Because it’s also a bilingual class, later she asked everyone if they spoke Spanish, she again let everyone answer individually but never looked at me. I’m not saying she need to acknowledge everyone in the class but there was only 3 of us… I felt unwelcomed from the second I entered the door. I’m not sure if it’s because I looked new to yoga? But it was a yoga 101 class. I saw another review that they overheard the employees talking poorly about new students… the class was fine and it was nice she gave an opportunity for students to ask about certain poses they wanted to learn. I won’t be coming back to this studio.

I was visiting the Phoenix area from the east coast for the weekend, and after a long plane ride, needed to take a class and found this studio. On yoga appreciation day, I took an early Saturday morning open vinyasa flow which was just what I needed. I was invited to stay for the spiritually beautiful and physically challenging 108 sun salutations to welcome in the summer solstice. The two hour class was instructed by four wonderful women yogis each taking turns to lead, including one teacher who lead the flow almost entirely in Sanskrit which was awesome. Urban Yoga is warm and welcoming with a west coast hippie vibe and the studio room relaxing to practice in. June 21 2025 is on a Saturday and will be planning my visit to Phoenix and will certainly return to Urban Yoga.

Urban Yoga is a fantastic studio located just north of downtown Phoenix, offering a peaceful retreat suited for both beginners and advanced yogis. I've attended about 10 sessions over the last several months, and have found the range of classes—from relaxing to intense—perfectly tailored to enhance personal growth and relaxation. The instructors are generally knowledgeable and create a welcoming environment. However, I was a bit taken aback when I overheard one instructor making disparaging remarks about students appearing new to yoga, suggesting they’d be doing a lot of back poses. It felt somewhat judgmental and out of place in such an inclusive setting.Despite this, the studio offers flexible pricing with drop-in rates and bundled mat passes, making it accessible for all schedules and budgets. I still recommend Urban Yoga for anyone in the Phoenix area looking to explore or deepen their yoga practice, as the overall experience and benefits have been truly enriching.

I took my first class yesterday, their Friday 4:30 pm Trauma-Release Yoga class. I appreciated how the studio is set up to be a full sensory experience.

SMELL: I loved inhaling the minty fresh scent permeating the room
TOUCH: I liked feeling cool temperature on my skin + being able to incorporate lots of blankets/bolsters/blocks for support, made available to us yogis
SIGHT: While laying down on my mat, I loved seeing billowing white cloth overhead that covers the industrial ceiling & delighted in colored lights dancing across the wall
SOUND: My ears inhaled the chill music combined with a sound gong recording at different times throughout the class

We were led in doing poses that aligned w/ the chakras and repeated specific mantras to feel/be safe. A chill laidback hour + 15 = the best way to end a hectic week.

Located inside the building of Urban Wellness ♥️ this is a space for yogis and healers!

$5 karma yoga on weekends and $11 sunrise flows on certain weekdays 🧘🏻‍♀️

There is more of the spiritual side to yoga here plus the workout 🏋️‍♂️ we smudge, we talk chakras, we have candles 🕯️ , but vinyasa will make you sweat!

I love the space and all the teachers 💜 it’s a family of light 💡

Also the shared space with urban wellness has tons of holistic healing which is worth checking out

Urban Yoga is a tranquil oasis. The beautiful studio, knowledgeable instructors, diverse classes, and welcoming community create an exceptional yoga experience. It's a haven where you can nourish your body, calm your mind, and find balance within. Some of my favorite classes are, Kundalini with Dhruv, Restorative & Reiki with Emily, Candlelight Yin with Cori, and one of my absolute favorites is Breathe Work & Flow with Madeline who also hosts the most amazing Open Heart Somatic Breath Work and Cacao ceremonies. We tried a new place this morning. It was close, mid-town and had good parking. We parked in the garage next door. Odd parking meters near by...they require coins (so very old school) or a city of Phoenix app...odd 'cause elsewhere in Phoenix a credit card will due. Before 8am you can is these parking meters for free.

They were super friendly to a couple of newcomers and had a newcomers rate! Yay!

Bex ran a great class. She did a great job balancing the need to model a move or pose and walking around giving personal instruction. I did not know I had my hands placed incorrectly for down dog (LOL) and wild thing (how long had Ibeendoing those incorrectly!?)...excellent corrections both!

Thanks Bex & Urban Yoga. We will be back.

Do not buy class packages here, the studio will steal your money and not help you given the chance!!

I've been taking drop-in classes, have been a monthly autopay member before, and also have brought many new students to the studio. I am also a yoga teacher myself, and have been teaching since 2013.

I am so disappointed at how they treated a regular customer after Covid, and I honestly don't think I will ever return after the way they treated me after Covid, despite the studio being 1 mile from my house and my old home studio.

I saved up and purchased a huge class package on Black Friday before Pandemic. I also live in Tucson and have an Airbnb in Phx, so I commute from cities. After Covid they changed their schedule. They used to offer 4ish Ashtanga + Ashtanga-inspired yoga classes a week and 1 Kundalini by my fav Kundalini teacher in the valley (Andrew Huvvee).

Because they changed their schedule to 0 Ashtanga classes and 0 Kundalini and due to me being busy, re-navigating financial hardships brought on by Covid, I did not take classes when the studio re-opened. I also was not interested in taking weird, mask-required yoga classes that they had at the beginning of their opening.

The studio manager named, Alona Gibson, was not nice or accommodating when she told me that I am losing my entire package because it expired in 1 year from purchase. She acted like she was being nice by extending my package for 6 months from the time they re-opened from Covid. I was unaware of this policy, and told here my story. I should have a year from the time they re-opened --not 6 months! Her excuse to Ashtanga, is she said that they just put Ashtanga back on the schedule "several weeks ago" and that they have Kundalini back now. So now they have one Ashtanga class on Monday nights and one Kundalini class (with a new teacher) on the same day. Gee thanks. And thanks for understanding and helping me.

Her best help is that she could sell me another package at a discounted rate. I told her I didn't have funds for it and also the one day a week Ashtanga doesn't fit in my schedule.

I am so disappointed. I will not be investing my money or trusting this studio again. This used to be my home studio and I've also bought a lots of items from their boutique.

I do not recommend this studio anymore.

With so many great options in the valley, you can do better!!

Julie Glasgow makes me feel like a dancer; albeit a fat one, who, despite his awkwardness, can still imagine a graceful, swan-like version of himself spilling across a yoga mat that he borrowed from a curly haired ex-girlfriend, whom he often imagines watches him jealously through the studio’s large picture window, as he slips— like Baryshnikov— from plank to upward dog.

Julie Glasgow is basically Mr. Miyagi or Obi Wan Kenobi in some sunburnt, surrealist Phoenix healthtopia — and when I’m in her class, I’m pretty much the Karate Kid with a frickin’ lightsaber.

As a yoga teacher I am deeply disappointed by this yoga studio & the lack of support, empathy & ethics by office staff. Despite giving notice of my leaving the country for my teacher training & subsequent apprenticeship& rwdueating my membership be stopped (which was approved by the manager), I was continually charged for my monthly membership to the tune of several hundred dollars & on trying to settle the dispute when I returned so I could use the money taken by Urban Yoga for my next teacher training, specific to survivors of trauma, they refused to refund me & despite several phone calls, months later, Clare from membership was entirely unhelpful and made no attempt to offer any sort of resolution. Yoga is how I keep my CPTSD in check & continuity is extremely important. Despite trying to explain this, it seems Urban Yoga cares far more about money than their clients. This is NOT representative of an authentic yoga studio dedicated to supporting the physical & emotional health of their clients. Their antithetical approach is indicative of a huge lack of integrity & ethics-I highly recommend NOT practising in such a space. The duty of the yoga studio is to hold a safe space for practice, something impossible to feel now. I am deeply saddened as I spent years finding a studio that was the right fit to heal at & I love the teachers. I expect so much more from a holistic based business, especially in this current toxic & divided environment. Do better.

Urban Yoga as well as most yoga studios in Phoenix teach only one style of vinyasa class that are so monotonous, and you get tired of all the chaturungas and warriors. There are no peak pose classes or progressive sequencing that enable a practioner to work on advanced asanas.

Overall I like Urban Yoga. They offer a good variety of styles of yoga. I have enjoyed most of the classes that I have attended. A couple of the restorative and yin classes were not really what I understand those styles of yoga to be but they were slow and relaxing. The studio is nice and I like the little boutique. The larger front classroom is very nice. The smaller back classroom is a little cramped and the space is a bit awkward. Urban yoga seems to have a pretty good mix of teachers and I like that the teacher turnover isn’t too high.

As an obese woman, I was very hesitant to try yoga. But I had begun to lose weight and was walking every day over my lunch and passed Urban Yoga every day. Every time I passed I thought that would be such a good thing for me to do for toning and self-confidence. One day, I finally had the courage to go in and ask if they thought it was appropriate for a woman my size to do yoga. The answer was a resounding yes. Each instructor at every class helped me to do the poses correctly so as to get the most benefit and not to hurt myself. I never felt like I didn't belong in the class. I received so much encouragement and genuine friendliness from the staff. I moved back to Omaha otherwise I would still be going there. Miss you guys! :)
