Whoever was working at the front desk on 11/29/25 around 10 p.m. — please try to be professional when interacting with customers, especially when they are trying to renew their membership correctly. The male staff member we spoke with was very rude and provided completely incorrect information, simply repeating what was on the screen instead of actually addressing our questions. He kept changing his answers, saying “I thought,” and even sent us the wrong invoice/receipt from the previous renewal. It was a waste of our time, and I wish he had just admitted that he didn’t have the proper knowledge to help. It doesn’t matter how long you’ve worked there — if you don’t have the right information or skills, just let customers know to come back. Overall, it was a very unprofessional and unpleasant experience.

On 11/9/25 I experienced a concerning interaction with a staff member from this 24 Hour Fitness location. An employee named Nathan physically touched me and pushed me out of the building as he accused me of letting someone else use my account.
I was having trouble with my account during check-in and a staff member by the name of Nathan accused me of sharing my information with someone else so they could use the gym at another location. I told him this was not true and he was falsely accusing me of something I did not do. I told him I did not know if my account got hacked or if something else happened but I never shared my account with anyone. He began to point his fingers at me and put his hands in my face saying that I should have reported my account as fraud. I asked him to stop putting his hands in my face and he told me he was going to call the cops on me. At this point I was recording the conversation and he tried to snatch my phone out my hands. He then proceeded to come towards me and physically grabbed my arm and pushed me out of the front door. I then called the cops to report him and will be pursuing legal action if possible.
It is deeply concerning to me that this man (Nathan) thought it was an appropriate reaction to physically grab and push a customer out of a building. Especially when there was no threat, there was no screaming/yelling and he never gave me the opportunity to leave the building on my own.

Benches in the gym shake when working out on them.
Mats on the floor are peeling.
Weights are missing and mismatched.
Many of the machines are broken and the rare ones that do work don't have pins. When I approached the front desk about this, they gave me 2 screw drivers out of a bucket of screw drivers to use.
Bathrooms are dirty.
Water fountains are often out of order.
Gym isn't open 24 hours despite being named "24 hour fitness"..
Came here from Plannet Fitness thinking I was finally joining a "real gym" but appalled by the conditions and the way the gym is being run by the current ownership.

I have had a 24 Hour fitness membership for over 20 years. I have seen alot of great gyms and nasty ones. The reason I started coming to this Milpitas location is because it had great classes, friendly staff, and was clean. Now many of classes I use to take they don't have anymore because the teachers left. The machines are always broken, they don't cleaning staff clean the gym consistently so the member stop cleaning the machines behind themselves.
It's really sad how they gone down hill. Time for management to make some real changes.

I think this place is a little more cleaner but a bit smaller. They have great equipment and the pool seems to be more cleaner. I hope this place continues to maintain its property with great care.
Update (10/16/25): for the past few months there were only two showers that didn’t work in the women’s locker room. Now it’s all of them that don’t work! I thought this 24 hr was different than other ones but to go this long without any progress in working on them is dumb. I had to change my review to two stars now.

The Gym is supposed to be opened at 5 , now it’s 5:43 AM and still it is closed , i see more than 40 member stopped by in the parking waited for 5 to 10 minutes, few of them walked to the door and realizing it is still closed. The Milpitas 24 Hour Fitness has become a disgrace to your brand and a danger to its members. For over six months, the facility has been operating with broken and unusable equipment, with only a fraction of dumbbells available and nearly all machine pins removed. Management’s “solution” — forcing members to sign in and out screws in order to operate equipment — is both negligent and laughable.
On my most recent visit, two cable machines failed on me mid-use, creating an immediate safety hazard that could easily injure someone. Despite repeated assurances from staff that repairs were forthcoming, nothing has been fixed.
This is not simply a matter of poor maintenance — it is willful neglect. Member dues are being collected while the facility remains unsafe, unsanitary, and mismanaged. Unless drastic action is taken to restore safety and functionality, this location should not be allowed to operate under the 24 Hour Fitness name.

DO NOT SIGN UP AT THIS PLACE
They hide fees in contracts and once they get your credit card you start getting charged for things they didn't tell you about at the desk. They convinced me to join a summer promotion for $20 for 2 months. I paid in cash but they said they needed my credit card on file (didn't specify exactly what they were gonna use it for). I cancel at the desk before I move out for college and all of a sudden I'm getting charged for the $20 that I already paid in cash and an additional $60 for "annual fees." According to their representative "I was told about these fees" (I was not and this representative was not there when I signed up) and "it was in the contract" (hidden at the bottom of a 16 page document that was sent to me AFTER I gave them my credit card and paid for the membership in cash). I call again and thankfully they give me a $13.99 refund! How generous. Even if I should have read the contract they know what they're doing hiding fees like that. If you gotta hide fees to sell memberships maybe the gym isn't that great in the first place, and it isn't. Find somewhere else to give your business to. Even if I got scammed please learn from my mistake and go somewhere else.

I love working out at 24 Hour Fitness Milpitas! The staff here is always friendly and welcoming, and the environment is perfect for staying motivated. This 24 Hour Fitness location goes above and beyond the basics of a standard gym. Not only does it have a wide range of equipment such as ellipticals, treadmills, and weight machines, but it also offers a variety of amenities that make the overall experience much more enjoyable. While this location is kept very clean, they have a horrible issue with theft of gym equipment. Weight pins and carbiners for cable exercises are routinely stolen, and most of the lower weighted dumbells and even entire barbells are missing. Not much in lieu of security cams so it seems they can't(don't?) keep track of what goes on the floor.

Apparently people were stealing the weight adjustment pins from the machines and the management took a brilliant executive decision to get rid of the pins on all the machines and ask customers to get their own pins or borrow a bolt from the front desk.
Also, this isn’t exactly 24 hour fitness. More like 16 hour fitness since it closes at 11PM.

If there’s a word worse than worst, I would use it for this gym. I was a member for 3 years, and every year the quality went downhill. This year was the lowest point.
1. Broken Equipment: Most of the weight machine pins disappeared months ago. Staff promised replacements “in 2 days,” but after 3 months, nothing changed. Many members now bring their own pins. If asked for pins at front desk they given you pens to use it as pins.
2. Unprofessional Staff: One of the front desk is consistently unwelcoming (She is usually in morning schedule around 8 AM). One staff member, in particular, is noticeably rude and treats people differently based on skin color — polite to white members, dismissive to brown members like me. This behavior comes across as discriminatory.
3. Poor Maintenance: Machines are constantly out of order and take days to repair. The seat cushions are torn, making workouts uncomfortable.
4. Gym Etiquette Issues: Some members “reserve” equipment with water bottles while using others, and staff refuses to intervene when complaints are raised.
5. Lack of Essentials: Yoga mats are torn in half to make more, and paper towels are frequently out of stock, leaving equipment dirty and unhygienic.
Either they are understaffed to refill the paper towels or they are cutting the costs by not replacing it.
6. Unjustified Price Hike: Membership jumped from $256 to $320 annually, despite the declining standards and lack of improvements.
After giving this place three years, I finally ended my membership. I really hope management takes these issues seriously and works to bring the gym back up to standard.

Signed up, online, for a 3-day pass. The website allowed me too sign up and confirmed I was signed up with a follow up email. It didn’t kick back a message saying this isn’t valid in the Bay Area.
I drove over at 9:30pm to get my workout in before closing. The front desk employee, Eric Lopez, immediately told me the 3-day pass I signed up for wasn’t valid. I am a member of City Sports and was looking to move over to 24 hour fitness on Calaveras, however, the horrible customer service I received made me realize that City Sports is a gem compared this place.
You all need to train your employees to be courteous and exercise some customer service support skills. His main concern was to squeeze money out of me before I even got a chance to check the place out.

To the 24 hour fitness owner commenting on people's reviews: Instead of saying you need to make improvements, can you actually make the improvements? you have been saying this for MONTHS. saying you'll do it is one thing, actually doing it is another. Get more lendable pins. Most of your evening/night staff are constantly fooling around at the front desk talking and going out to get Chik Fil A. Every single paper tower cleaning station is empty and the bathrooms are disgusting. The Chest press and seated dip machine have been broken for what has felt like an eternity. There are no dumbells for beginners. This is absolutely unacceptable for a gym with so many people. Maybe take action instead of being so passive and saying you need to make improvements that you literally havent made for months. Sometimes there's nobody at the front desk??? Only giving 2 stars because of the kind welcoming asian guy here and bc I been going here a while.
Updating review: both seated dip and chest press machines were fixed! wipes could still be replaced more often tho---all were empty.

what a joke this gym is. haven’t been back in 2 years and decided to come today with the wife. all their cable machines have the pins missing. someone was nice enough to loan me a pin to do a set of cables. another person was using a sharpie pen as a pin! never seen that before. looks at the pic for proof. look at all the pictures and see for yourself this pig sty
the restrooms look disgusting, weights are all over the place and not put back. plates all over the floors, dumbbells scattered and not where they are supposed to be. trash everywhere! lots of staff standing around while all the trash bins are full of trash. you got two staff members up front shooting the bull and on their phones while the entire gym is in disarray! also have disinfectant spray bottles that are empty! the icing on the cake? no toilet paper or seat covers in the bathrooms. unbelievable.
quite sad given it’s one of the newer ones in the bay area. what the heck happened to this place?.

I signed up in early May, and on my very first visit, I was told that all the equipment pins had been stolen. Staff promised it would be fixed the following week — nothing happened.
By early June, after multiple follow-ups, I was finally able to borrow a pin from the front desk. Now it’s mid-August, and my wife and I still have to borrow pins every time we work out. Today, we even had to share a single pin, taking turns on the machines.
On several visits, I’ve seen front desk staff laughing and joking with each other instead of helping, and simply telling me to “come back in 15 minutes” in case someone returned a pin. While there are helpful staff members here, experiences like these have made me stop coming regularly.
I’ve been to other 24 Hour Fitness locations — they’re cleaner, better maintained, and fully equipped. This location is poorly managed and shows zero urgency in fixing even basic issues.
Unless things improve dramatically, I recommend avoiding this place and choosing another location.

The pin rental for machines is wild, at one point they ran out of actual pins and I got a taped up bent nail instead. At one watering area the two bottles water dispensers are broken and one of the two fountains is broken. Some of the machines feel wobbly. Out of the three 24 hour fitnesses I go between, this is the worst. At this rate someone's going to get really hurt from the lack of upkeep.

I’ve been to seven different 24 Hour Fitness gyms across the Bay Area, and unfortunately, this has been the worst one by far.
Many of the machines have been unusable for months due to missing weight pins, and despite repeated feedback, there has been no meaningful response; just the same generic "thank you for your feedback" response from management. Also, renting out pins is not a solution. It’s a temporary workaround that shows a lack of service for your gym members. Their solution is lacking as well. There are not enough pins for everyone. Good luck with renting one out.
Several machines remain broken, showing a clear lack of maintenance. The dumbbell area is consistently disorganized, with lighter weights missing entirely.
This gym needs serious attention and improvement to meet even basic gym standards. The owner and management has failed this gym and its members.

Half of the machines are broken, you now have to sign out pins, half the dumbbells are missing, all the small weights in the studio are gone so there isn’t enough for a body pump class to even participate, during peak hours you will just be standing around trying to find something to do.
This place is the worst 24 location in the Bay Area. Only thing good about it is the 8 squat racks probably since people can’t steal the big weights.
Update: Squat racks and bench presses are now missing bars?!?!? Even if it’s free you can’t use it. Like where did all the bars go?!? This has happened on my last two visits. Embarrassing is an understatement.

Some prankers stealing weight machine pins making it impossible to use fitness equipment. It's already been 2+ mos now and management is aware of it . No issues like this at other 24 fitness . This was once a great gym but has lost its former glory.

I usually come to this gym after 9 PM because I have a full time job and can't come in the middle of the day. Even though the location is supposed to be newly opened, you get the vibe that this place was MAYBE nice two decades ago.
there are several problems:
1. The staff are generally not caring about the state of the gym. The disinfectants and the paper dispensers next to them are often empty and remain empty for a few days.
2. The weights are never in order. Every other gym I tried in the past had the weights in the right order, and the ordering usually is done at the end of the day by the staff. You want a pair of dumbbells of specific weight for your set? Best of luck to you walking up and down the rack several times to find one.
3. The gym smells of body odor and seems like no measures will be taken to address this.
4. Machines stay out of order for a few weeks before they do anything about it.
5. When I go there, it's usually super crowded and you have to wait a good 10 minutes for every station you want to use.
In general you have to heavily adapt your workout to how the gym is in that day and it's never a good experience. Look a bit more if you can.
Edit july 2025: as other people pointed out, all the weight pins are gone. When I asked the front desk they just shrugged and said yeah people steal them so bring your own. Recently half the dumbbell racks are empty, apparently people steal dumbbells too.
Front desk people are the most useless I've seen in Bay area. Asked them about the dumbbells, again, they said that's what we have. Look for them. This place is getting worse in ways I didn't even think about.

This gym is a complete mess. Machines stay broken for months, with the same useless “under maintenance” sign taped on — a pathetic placeholder for real action.
Some weight machines don’t even have selector pins, and management expects members to bring their own. What kind of gym fails to replace basic, inexpensive hardware for weeks on end?
The dumbbell situation? A total joke. You’ll be playing hide and seek across the floor just to find a matching pair. Racks are half-empty, mismatched, and completely unorganized — and nobody seems to care.
It’s obvious 24 Hour Fitness has completely given up on basic maintenance, organization, and member experience. They’ll keep taking your money while offering a neglected, mismanaged facility in return.
Do yourself a favor and find a gym that actually respects its members.

Very disappointed with this Gym. It has been 5 months that they have not had pins for their machines (makes machines literally unusable). 5 MONTHS.... That's simply unacceptable for a Gym. They have some system where you can check out pins at the front desk but most of the time those are not available and you are told to come back in 20 min to check again (completely ruins your workout schedule). The staff for the most part is really nice (not their fault) except this one lady at the front desk with an afro and a real nasty attitude. I hope that management turns this around but the past 5 months have not given me much hope

Member since last 4 weeks . Yoga instructors doesn’t show up so no yoga classes multiple times a week . People come to 9 o clock class at 8 and hoard all the lower weights so only 10lbs will be available when u come to class. I’m very disappointed with the front desk staff at the 24 Hour Fitness Milpitas location. On July 23nd around 8:15 AM, I went to borrow a pin for the weight machines—something we now have to get from the front desk—but was told they had none available. When I politely asked if more might be coming back soon, the staff member didn’t even respond. She just pointed to the phone she was on, completely ignoring me.
To make matters worse, I had already been standing in front of the counter for several minutes before she even acknowledged my presence—she didn’t so much as glance at me. I had a few simple questions and tried to ask politely, but she acted like I was a nuisance. No greeting, no eye contact, no smile—just cold, dismissive, and clearly uninterested in helping. It was uncomfortable and unwelcoming.
This is basic customer service. If you’re too busy to help, at least acknowledge the person or say, “I’ll be with you in a minute.” I wasn’t being rude—just trying to get through my workout like everyone else.
It’s honestly unacceptable that a gym of this size can’t keep essential equipment like pins available—or treat paying members with the most basic respect. Very unprofessional and frustrating experience.

It's bad. More than half of the workout machines are missing the pins and broken cables for over 3 weeks. I have called and talked to the facility and they don't give answers. They are rude and unfriendly. I paid for the whole year . If I new or read the reviews I would have paid somewhere else. Anywhere is better than 24hrs.

This place is overcrowded, no equipment is ever available. Hand dryer in mens restroom area is broken for months now, management doesn't bother to fix it. Most of the lockers don't work here, I have raise this concern multiple times but the response I am getting from front desk is that they really can't do anything about it since they don't have the keys to locker.

Please fix the restroom and water fountain near the weights area, it's been broken for months now. There are few machines that are still out of order after weeks, paper towels and sanitizers need to be filled more often. There are absolutely no weight pins in any of the machines, people shouldn't have to bring their own pins. Please help make this gym a better place to workout.

This gym is not well maintained. It appears they have no maintenance or facilities staff. The whole place is in dire need of repair and maintenance.
A few of the showers are broken and don’t work at all.
Some of the glass shower doors are becoming completely transparent as the privacy film is wearing down.
Workout equipment is missing pieces. A few of the weightlifting machines don’t have the weight pins.
Some water fountains don’t even work.
One water fountain had an expiring water filter.
I hope they are able to get the funding to maintain this facility. Looks overall neglected.

If you need pin you need to give all your details and ask reception.
You need to return pin after workout or buy your own pin.

I want the place/business to succeed and hence taking the time to provide the feedback/review here.
Cleaning stations have no tissues/paper towels most of the time; we have to walk around to find working/stocked cleaning station
Equipments don’t have the weight lock pins and we have to bring our own.
I have visited Planet Fitness on Ranch Drive in Milpitas and it’s phenomenally well kept.

1. Somebody stole machine pins and now they are making every one suffer by not having pins for machines and you need to provide your ID and details to get a pin for workout and they have 4-5 pins. Its been several months and they do not care now.
2. Dumbbells are all over the place, cleaning is not done, most of the time gym is rubbish.
3. Front office is so impatient when i ask for pins and their attitude is worst.
I think this gym is bankrupt and now selling $300 memberships so that they trap you. Pay upfront yearly fees and get trapped at your own risk.

This gym used to be decent a couple of years ago, but it has steadily declined to the point where I regret ever signing up.
Let’s break it down:
1. Weight machines without pins? Groundbreaking.
Want to use a machine? Hope you brought your own screwdriver or feel like begging the front desk for a pin—because apparently, that’s a luxury item here.
2. Front desk staff, aka the “pseudo gym owners”
Their energy is unmatched—if you’re looking for condescension and passive-aggressive customer service. The way they talk to paying members, you’d think we’re all just crashing at their private gym without an invite.
You know the best part? One of them actually suggested I use a different location. I couldn’t agree more. When even the employees are recommending alternatives, you know it’s bad.
After years of being a member, I’m not just disappointed—I’m impressed… by how low the bar has been set. Highly recommend this place if you’re into gym repairs and unsolicited attitude.

While I appreciate the gym's facilities and space, I've observed some areas that require attention to enhance the overall member experience.
Firstly, I've consistently noticed that the front desk staff are engaged in conversation and do not offer greetings upon arrival. While this isn't a major issue, it does impact the initial impression.
My primary concern, however, revolves around the cleanliness of the locker rooms and the hot sauna. Despite understanding that this is a busy gym, the current state of these areas, including the presence of discarded toilet paper resembling gas station restrooms, is unacceptable. It appears there may be a lack of dedicated overnight cleaning.
Furthermore, the equipment and mirrors throughout the gym have a visible film of dirt and oils. Lastly, I've found incomplete equipment in various corners, which can be disruptive to workouts. Addressing these points would significantly improve the gym's hygiene and functionality.

Zero reviews for 24 hours Fitness Milpitas. It is so frustrating there are no pins for any of the machines and dumbbells are all over the place. It looks like you have to waste your half an hour to find dumbbells and find a locker, as all lockers are locked or broken. I always need to check with the front desk to open a locker for me. When I complaint at front desk about pins, from last three months, they are saying we have placed order and they will come soon!

Love this 24 location, it’s one of the more clean ones. Good crowd, good energy, the staff is very friendly, the sauna has never once broken down, nor the steam room, and the equipment always gets repaired quickly if there is ever an issue. I have major anxiety about using the machines and it was my first time doing a session training with Marianne. She was absolutely phenomenal and very knowledgeable. She's a real athlete! I highly reccomend her, especially for beginners. Marianne is patient, encouraging, and smart about strength training and understanding of overall physical AND mental health.
They have some training promos this month. This location also has a good range of machines.. just be sure to bring a PIN for the weights. I also appreciate that they do swimming lessons this season. Spacious locker room and clean bathrooms. Overall, great experience and would come back!

Worst gym ever. Don’t even think about joining. Dumbbells are all over the place, weight pins are always missing, and half the machines don’t even work. It’s way too crowded all the time. Lockers barely function, and there’s not even a proper weighing scale.
The staff? Super sweet when they want your money. After that, they don’t care at all. Total waste of money and time. Avoid this place like the plague.

Disappointing is an understatement for 24 Hour Fitness in Milpitas. What was once a great gym has completely gone downhill. Machines are constantly broken and take forever to get fixed—some have been out of order for weeks. Even worse, the opening shift employees are often late, and the gym doesn’t open on time, even though it’s supposed to be open by 5 AM.
As an example, my wife and I left for vacation on June 7th, and I joked that maybe the machines would finally be fixed by the time we returned. We came back over two weeks later—and unsurprisingly, they’re still broken. My membership is up in August, and it can’t come soon enough!

This is a relatively new location but so poorly managed. You have to bring your own weight pins which is the first 24 I have encountered (they claim they can provide but every time it’s out of stock). The hand dryer in the women’s bathroom has been broken for like a year now. More and more equipments are broken down with no repair. I can never find lighter weights that fits me. Theft and vandalization of the machines in the gym and bathrooms has given rise to a new policy - all the pins are stored with the staff. Without pins, machines aren't usable. Members need to rent the pins that are kept limited on purpose. So there's a long line. This policy in effect limiting or eliminating use of the machines which is "violation of corporate membership agreement" by 24-hour fitness. An easy win for someone willing to challenge the policy.
Shower taps and heads are vandalized. Only half of them are functional. The rest are broken including the shower for disabled breaking ADA compliance. A couple of fountains are no longer dispensing water. Several machines have tags "out of order" as shown in pictures. Front desk staff has been informed a few times. Local staff point fingers to the corporate office and refuse to fix. Rest is good 👍.
Summer swimming school is no more.
I sent an email to the corporate last month. No response or action whatsoever, ZERO.

Unless you want to do cardio, use free weights, play basketball, or use the pool don't come here! There are not even a lot of free weights available and all the machines are missing pins. People are bringing their own screwdriver or hardware to use the machines. It's absurd, unreasonable, and very ridiculous. There is not point coming to this location to workout. Other locations nearby will have pins.

This used to be my favorite gym to go to because of the gym community I've built here. But now, you can't even workout appropriately. Figure out what's going on with the pins because using hardware tools to check out at the front desk isn't professional.

The BollyX class was cancelled several times without making it "cancelled" formally on the app. Members reserved the class and came ending up "Class was cancelled'. Even the front desk staff told us "Just wait for a few minutes". The other classes always show "cancelled" on the app in advance if they are cancelled. How come it can't be done for this BollyX class? This BollyX is a good and fun exercise class but the communication between the instructor and the club management needs to be improved.

We booked a yoga class today Jun 13 at 6:00pm we got there, there was no instructor in the room we wait for a few minutes and the class never started. I asked the guy in the front desk his name Erik ( according to him ) I asked what was going on ? Why we didn’t get a cancellation? At all my question he said “I don’t know” I said what can I do cuz we came from far just for this class? How can we get notified if is gonna be cancelled And he said very rude totally careless “ mm look for another one?!
More question that he couldn’t give me an answer while on his phone all the time.
I don’t think that’s the way to treat a member while his only job is to help and inform.

Is there a proper manager that cares on how the Milpitas location is run? It's been 2 months since the pins for the machines are missing and now members need to "check out" the pins from the staff in order to use the machines? What's the long term solution? At least once or twice a week that there are no paper towels. The facility is a mess and chaotic. Weights are everywhere and I need to go search throughout the place to find a set of dumb bells with matching weight. There are no regular maintenance in keeping the facility clean. If a machine is broken, it'll be a month or so until it's fixed. All the review below is true!! Is the owner AI? All response sounds similar and I don’t see any improvement, not even 10%. It gets worse! Please take pride in your brand!!

I've been going to this location for around 2½ years and man has it went downhill and fast. There's no regular cleaning by their staff anymore. Bathrooms are bearable on weekdays, but trashed on the weekends with lots of trash in the shower area. An extensive amount of gym equipment is out of service with no pins as well as no sign to tell you it doesn't work. I understand if it's a couple machines, but it's easily over 10 different machines not working. The renewal fee they charge every year is supposed to be for upkeep, but clearly isn't being used for upkeep. Very disappointing gym right now.
