I would like to express my sincere appreciation for Emma, who works at the San Carlos location. Her professionalism, kindness, and extensive knowledge consistently stand out. Employees like her bring tremendous value to 24 Hour Fitness, and I truly hope her efforts are recognized and encouraged. I must also note that my experience with Elanzo has been disappointing due to his rude behavior, and I genuinely believe Emma demonstrates the qualities expected of a manager.

I’ve been a longtime member of 24 Hour Fitness and continue to be very happy with my experience. I really appreciate having so many locations to choose from, which makes it easy to get a workout in when I’m traveling or while I’m waiting for my kids to finish their classes in different parts of town. The staff are consistently friendly and welcoming, and the equipment is usually well maintained at every gym I’ve visited.

Decent gym with everything you would need, and hot sauna. The equipment is a little dated but it does the job. For women it can be a bit uncomfortable here, it’s mostly guys and some people stare.

Good price and it’ll get the job done. Old but still good machines, but filthy and full of “interesting” clientele. People wear their shoes & socks in the sauna (super weird) are dropping/slamming weights everywhere. They have signs discouraging these behaviors but nothing is enforced. Oh and there’s nowhere near enough parking, had to circle for 5-10 min each time I went during my free trial.

It’s a nice 24 hour fitness! My only complaints are the spin bikes are a bit old/some are rusty or have broken foot straps and I wish there were more than 2 rowing machines but aside from that it’s a 24 hour fitness that’s totally decent and seems like it has fun workout classes.

The San Carlos 24 Hour sport is old, filthy and full of broken down equipment. Literally HALF of the toilets were out of order and every corner of the gym had VERY significant amount of garbage, dust and debris. I mean, just disgusting. Do better please.

This gym has seriously stepped it up lately.
I've been coming here for a while, and the difference in cleanliness is night and day. Ever since they brought on the janitor lady, the place feels fresh, organized, and way more inviting.
She's always on the move wiping down machines, keeping the floors spotless, and making sure the locker rooms stay clean. It's one of those things you don't realize you needed until it's done right. The whole vibe feels better now, and it makes working out here a lot more enjoyable. Big thanks to her and the team for making the space feel cared for.

This place is a hot mess. Prime example: recently the gym hosted a "block party" during which they gave people free taco if they would stand there and post a 5-star Google review. Hopefully that tells you all you need to know about this operation (and allows you to read some of the (fake) 5-stars with a discerning eye).There is a lot more I could say, especially about a certain woman at the front desk, but I'll leave it at that. The other local 24 Hour Fitnesses (Redwood City, San Mateo) are great.

Terrible customer service at the San Carlos 24 Hour Fitness. I came in to cancel my membership, and the experience was beyond frustrating. First, there was a white guy behind the counter, clearly more focused on cleaning and admiring his fresh tattoo than actually doing his job. He didn’t even acknowledge me just kept wiping down his arm and ignoring the fact that a member was standing there needing help.
Then, a girl with bright blue hair finally addressed me, only to inform me with attitude that I couldn’t cancel my membership there because I didn’t originally sign up at that specific location. Seriously? It’s 2025 and you’re telling me I have to drive to another location just to cancel? No willingness to assist or offer a solution, just a cold, “Nope, can’t help you.”
The whole vibe screamed “we don’t care.” It felt like they were intentionally making the process harder than it needed to be. If this is how they treat paying customers, I can’t imagine what happens when someone actually needs help or support.
