Academy of Strength And Sport is home to Grin And Grind Athletics and West Coast Weightlifting. Our facility is dedicated to the development and refinement of the physical skills, mental aptitude, disciplines and techniques needed to achieve ones ultimate strength, fitness goals, and sportsmanship.
Academy of Strength And Sport was established in 2016. It was born out of a concept that was developed with over 30 years of participation, coaching, and mentoring various sports and physical activities.

Initially, walking into Academy of Strength and Sports, I felt a tad bit intimidated. I wasn't sure of my ability to keep up with the other athletes in the gym, however coach Dan assured me of my ability of being able to get in shape. He continues to mention getting in shape is a process. Lastly, the other members of the gym are very welcoming, and I truly believe that imperative as people begin the journey of a healthy lifestyle.

The coaches here are extremely knowledgable, patient and helped me to achieve all of my personal fitness goals. This new spacious gym is located in West Adams next to Culver City, which offers personal training, weightlifting, crossfit, bootcamp and youth fitness and leadership programs. Special thanks to Danny Henry for taking my fitness and strength to the next level. I highly recommend this gym!!!

Hands down, Dan Henry is the best programmer and trainer I've ever met. He sticks to the core Olympic lifts and uses everything else to supplement and improve those lifts. I've trained under Danny for 10 years and still learn something new each session. His technical skills are top-notch and his ability to communicate ideas and provide insight are exemplary. I mean this in the most positive way: Dan Henry is a savant when it comes to knowing the body, knowing what loads to recommend on any given day, and how to tweak workouts midstream in order to extract maximum effort and efficiency.
