I worked out regularly on the Allegro while taking pilates classes at a local studio — I absolutely loved the machine! Being new to pilates, it was important for me to feel safe and stable on my reformer, and this always was the case with the Allegro.

This year I decided to bring pilates home and have ordered the Allegro Nextgen reformer. I will update my review once it has arrived, but so far my customer experience has been very positive. After placing my order, a sales representative reached out to me to confirm all of the details and provide more guidance on the shipping and delivery process. I was really grateful to receive this extra information and look forward to my new reformer!

I had reached out multiple times when I was researching different reformers thru their web chat, email and even on the phone. I have only had positive experiences and it was a wonderful experience. I messaged in asking questions about the IQ and the allegro 1 - they answered every silly question I had and walked me thru the differences - helping me settle on the allegro 1 for my personal needs and wants. I called in asking for dimensions for the allegro 1 when standing including the footbar to ensure it would fit in my space and they were quick to respond and answer the questions! I messaged in asking about custom colors, pricing differences and options - they sent me out 3 large swatches of the colors I had asked specifically about AND the sheet with all the swatches on it - which helped me decide that I wanted my machine to be happy, so I got purple. I messaged in with additional order questions, which they answered and suggested having me call in to place the order when I was ready. I called and spoke to Levi -- totally worth asking for him specifically if you can! He walked me thru all of the options I had with the allegro 1, walked me thru the options for a jump board, walked me thru the options for the box and then helped me with a foot strap and wall strap (because I am storing mine vertical). He made is SUPER easy, gave me expected production dates, anticipated ship dates, and a rough idea of delivery dates while explaining how delivery will work. I can't speak highly enough about the custom service. Their products are expensive, yes - but the quality is why. And I would rather pay for a quality item that will last for years of use than something that will break quickly, with no replacement parts, or information easy to find on maintenance or repairs (they have everything online) -- I am so excited to get my machine in a few weeks!!

My Allegro 2 reformer came in completely destroyed box which resulted in tears to the leather and chipped paint. The customer service sent a new leather piece so I replaced it myself instead of sending it back. Now a random bolt came off and the handlebar is loose making me feel unsafe doing some Moves. The customer service is saying it’s usual for the handle to be loose since it’s a newer model and that the loose bolt is likely an extra piece they left behind?! Ridiculous. DO NOT BUY THEIR PRODUCTS! I ordered the Pilates bench along with the spine fitter. Over 350.00 dollars. I received a Styrofoam bench that probably cost 15.00 to manufacture. When I wanted to return them, they told me the spine fitter was not returnable, but I could return the Styrofoam bench If I paid for shipping. I responded with an ultimatum that I would dispute the charges with my bank. They relented and allowed me to ship both items back. I had to pay 75.00 shipping fee. What a joke and a waste of time. Do yourself a favor and shop elsewhere.

I would like to recommend Nancy Tenoglio from Balanced Body. She has been my representative for quite a few years and she has always been informative as to what I have needed over the years and gets back to me with whatever questions I have. I have at different times also gotten in touch with Amalia who has been lovely and with Giscard and he too was very helpful. I do miss the knowledgeable Joe Weiss who has moved on in the company, but the customer service I have received cannot be beat. Especially when you compare it to other Pilates companies. The selection of items at BB is amazing. They have something for everyone: every size, every fitness, almost every wallet. Prices have gone steadily up as in every industry unfortunately, but these things last forever and keep their value. I am truly grateful that ken Endelman fought the good fight back in the 90s to allow everyone to use Joseph Pilates's name to teach Pilates, to manufacture equipment and to better disseminate the method. It is a wonderful company who is still doing wonderful things for the industry. Among the BB products I have owned and loved are an Allegro 1 with tower, a clinical with tower, many accessories and now I would like a Contrology arm chair and reformer with tower!

I purchased a SitFit from Balanced Body through AMAZON. It took 10 days to arrive and was flat. Multiple calls later with three different people and different stories with each call, I still do not have a useable SitFit. The manager made an effort to make it right by saying he would send me a pump, but apparently follow-through is a problem and so the pump that I was promised has not arrived. It's now been nearly three weeks. In my estimation it is not worth this frustration. I would recommend a different brand, but definitely a different company!!

This review is specifically for the Contrology line.

we own a Pilates studio, and we originally chose Contrology because of lead time, but I’ve come to really like the Contrology reformer especially. I will often choose to train a client on the Contrology reformer instead of my other favourite classical reformers.

And I personally have gotten stronger working out on the Contrology Reformer!!!!

There was a little issue with one of the pieces that was delt with very efficiently and swiftly by customer service (which honestly as a studio owner is more reassuring then never having issues! Long term we want to know the manufacturer is responsive and gets any issues solved!)

Attending the Balanced Body OnTour in Chicago in 2022 was one of the best things I could have done as a Pilates Instructor and Studio Owner. I learned so much by attending the pre-conference with Joy Puleo on Menopause Renaissance to other highly interesting workshops that discuss various populations that I needed more information about; such as learning more with clients who experience low back pain, how to train the athletic client, to refreshing myself with the heart and soul of the Pilates repertoire. I have many pieces of Contrology® equipment - 3 Reformers, Cadillac, Folding Mat, Arm Chair, Wunda Chair and Ped-o-Pul. Balanced Body is my go-to company for Pilates training and equipment!

I did my comprehensive Pilates training with BB in 2008-2009 and it was a fantastic experience. I've also watched BB expand and strengthen their training options and opportunities ever since, helping Pilates instructors hone their teaching skills in a variety of ways. Every workshop I've taken for continuing education has exceeded expectations.

The BB equipment is also top-notch! Sturdy, easy to use, and beautiful! My home Reformer is appx 15 years old and looks almost brand new - and trust me, it gets a workout. I'm amazed at the quality and craftsmanship, and how well it holds up over time.

"Handmade in the usa" is a label this hypocritical uses to convince you that their product is ethical and well made. They force all their workers to work multiple weeks straight of overtime increasing the likelihood of personal injury to their employees with no consideration for their welfare. The issue could be solve by hiring more full time employees but they dont want to pay for their health insurance. This is not the american way. People fought and died for 40 hour work weeks and weekends off. Highly recommend you find product elsewhere

Beware when dealing with this co. Getting service when a refund has been promised will take you hours and days of your time. Their 3 to 5 days once the equipment has been returned and everything O.Ked for the full refund doesn't happen as promised. We are a Pilates studio still trying to get a refund after 3 weeks.

Balanced Body has horrible customer service and questionable workmanship. I am the owner of quite a few pieces of equipment form this company. I own a reformer, a chair, Pilates spring board, a ladder barrel and a Balanced Body Trapeze table (Cadillac). I own a small studio in Colorado.
I am in the process of communicating with Balanced Body customer service about a crack in my new'ish Cadillac. This past spring of 2016 I noticed cracks and delaminating glue joints on all four corners of my Cadillac, at that time it was approximately 4 years old. I called Balanced Body and was told this was very unusual and it should never have happened. I was also told it was dangerous and should not be used anymore. Since this piece of equipment has a lifetime warranty they said they would ship a replacement and to throw the other one away. It was supposed to arrive in a timely manor which it did not...it took about a month... Now I have a crack in the brand new frame that was sent to me.
I contacted Balanced Body again. I told them I was not interested in having them send me a new frame since it was clear to me that they have a problem with the manufacturing of this particular piece of equipment, 2 pieces sent to the same customer with the same issue...that is no longer a fluke it's a problem. As well as dangerous to myself and my customer. Balanced Body's resolution was to send me a new one or refund me $900 for a piece of equipment I spent $3895 for. I refused their offer and proceeded to go back and forth with them for a couple of weeks. The last communication I received from them said they would still offer me the $900 or offer a 10 year extended warranty on the new piece since I was trying to sell it at the time I noticed the crack. They only offered the extended warranty after I pointed out that they were more then happy to pass the buck off on to the next person who owns it. I asked for a full refund or to extend the warranty for the lifetime for the next owner...if I was gonna keep it they would have to honor the warranty so if they really stand behind it they should just do this in good faith. Since then, I have reached out to the Better Business Bureau, at this point I am still awaiting a resolution and it has been a month now.
Their warranty states they can replace it, repair it or refund the full amount. I don't want a replacement, it cannot be repaired so the other option is refund which they say is only if they no longer manufacture the particular piece of equipment in question. No where in the warranty does it state this...seems like they misleading their customers. I have been told I am being treated like any other customer would in this situation...how many times a week does this happen at Balanced Body? If I treated my customers this way I wouldn't have any....

I will update this post when a resolution has come about. I don't feel this company is standing behind this product. And as the weeks roll on I also feel that my business and ability to make a living is of no concern to Balanced Body. Not a company I would choose to deal with if I had known...
