The manager here (Tim) has no clue how to manage his staff. Alisha Joyner, is one of the most demotivating instructors I’ve ever come across at Basecamp or anywhere else. On top of that, she’s rude toward customers and has no sense of decency or decorum. I’ve been a member here since day one and it has gone downhill. I’ve cancelled my membership and litigation is going to follow soon against the owners of this establishment, Basecamp, Tim (manager) and Alisha Joyner, among others. Trust me when I say this, stay far far away from this spot. There are much better gyms and vibes around Encinitas and north county, no need to throw your money away for a 30 minute workout and rude and demotivating instructors and awful management.

I’m very picky about fitness classes. I’ve been put off by a lot of places that offer HIIT style training for various reasons. But this place is awesome! First, I love that the Assault bikes are a main feature, really the best tool for HIIT out there. Speaking of equipment, they have everything: barbells, kettlebells, bosu balls, dumbbells, TRX, pull-up bars! On top of it that, the coaches are cool and know what they are doing. Lastly, this place has one of the best lighting systems I’ve ever seen. I wish they would open more locations!

Everyone there is so friendly and helpful ! I like to call this place, my workout club with the loud music and the lights.. the coaches make a hard workout fun!
There are days where I may not feel like pushing myself, but my coach always encourages me and tells me that I got this. Also, I have gotten one on one help with my moves during a class. They really look out for you and make sure that you are able to do the class safely.

Loving Basecamp! I’m a regular at Tim’s classes but all the coaches are amazing! They provide a great mix of pushing you but making sure you do the movements correctly and safely. If you want a challenging workout but can also scale back to the pace you need, this is definitely it!

This place is incredible. All you have to do is get yourself there. It’s efficient. It’s a great mix between weights, cardio, core, stretching and even some breath work. All in 45 minutes. What’s there to say. In my Basecamp workout today I burned 784 calories. In 45 minutes including warmup and breath work. Coaches are great, particularly Tim. I love Basecamp. The workouts are never boring, they are always challenging, and there are a wide variety of time slots to get your workout in. I love getting to exercise before my shifts. I LOVE this gym! I switched to Basecamp after leaving my gym because the schedule wasn’t working for me and the classes were an hour long which was difficult to find time for with a strenuous work schedule and two kids. Basecamp really is the most efficient workout around! I can ALWAYS find 35 min in a day and there are SO many class times that it works well no matter how much I have going on! The workout is a great mix of strength and cardio and I love the focus on core at the end of class. I would highly recommend Basecamp!

Love the combo of assault bike and floor exercises, and that the instructors are knowledgeable and flexible enough to help you customize. Each instructor has their own voice and energy level, so there’s someone for anyone. Currently rehabing after knee surgery and I keep coming to maintain my routine and do what I can. Often do my PT during class since the studio has what I need (foam roller, weights, straps, boxes, kettle bells, trex, med balls and bikes), and the instructors are very accommodating. So glad I gave it a shot and it’s part of my daily routine now.

Basecamp Fitness is one of my top picks for resistance-based gyms in North County. I have a love-hate relationship with the assault bike – I love that it gives me an intense cardio workout with minimal joint impact, but it definitely pushes me to my limits. Fortunately, the instructors are amazing at helping me power through those tough intervals with positive, motivating encouragement. The classes are always fresh and challenging, with new exercises each time, so boredom is never an issue. Tim and Kenny are hands down two of the best instructors at Basecamp – their knowledge and motivation make all the difference. You absolutely have to check it out!

They list the playlist on their schedule so you know what type of music vibe you are in for, the studio space is thoughtfully designed and the workouts are well-crafted and easy to follow with screens that show you what workout to do.
They have all kinds of cool high tech touches and a streamlined checkin system + app. Great system for a busy mom like myself. Plus a beautiful fluffy dog to greet you at the door (we love you Loki!)

I was looking for a drop in styled class that embraced/promotes HIIT styled training and definitely found it here! Love the lower lights and higher energy music! The floor screens demonstrating the floor training along with the lead instructor leaves you so immersed and correctly executing! I love the combo of bikes and floor training classes!

My wife and I recently joined a workout at base camp in Encinitas. We found it on Instagram and took advantage of a complementary session. The format was very simple, but very effective. Protocol can be challenging for any level of athlete, and there are options to increase or decrease the intensity accordingly. The instructor was motivating – we had Kenny. Despite both of us being professional, fitness, instructors, we both felt it the next day in a good way.
