Through her somatic coaching, ElizaBeth helped me gain more confidence in myself. Over the course of 10 sessions, I learned to pay more attention and give credence to my inner guiding prompts. I was surprised by how much I could feel during the somatic exercises, and how much was revealed to me through our conversations, thanks to ElizaBeth's guiding presence. My love of travel requires that I be somewhat physically fit. I have been, and still am, seeing a physical therapist for ankle and wrist injuries. At one point, my therapist recommended I work with a personal trainer to strengthen the ankle and increase my stamina for an upcoming trip. That is when I met Beth. She has been my personal trainer for a little over one and a half years.
Initially, I was skeptical if training via zoom would be effective, but Beth is so good at spotting little nuances and asking relevant questions to ensure I use proper form. Occasionally, she communicates with my therapist to identify and correct any problems so that I can exercise without pain and reach my fitness goal. I call them my dream team.
With Beth’s guidance and training, I strengthened my legs and ankles, as well as increased my endurance, so that I could fly fish in Alaska, walk all over Italy, and gorilla trek in Africa. We just started to incorporate upper body strengthening for my upcoming Yukon, Canada trip, as well as, introduce somatic exercises into our sessions.
I had never heard of somatic experiencing. I did not think I was capable of tapping into this other dimension. During the somatic exercises, I experienced emotions and physical sensations that I did not fully comprehend, but accepted them because I trust Beth. Even my therapist noticed the release in my body after one of the somatic exercises.
Beth draws from her vast expertise in many areas of fitness and healing. She makes modifications on the spot and tailors the workout based on how my body is feeling that day, still mindful of my physical goal. The best part of working with Beth is that she genuinely cares about your well-being and wants to help you be a better you.

I’ve been working out with beth for almost 18 months now, after I went through several rounds of her DailyOM classes.
She is by far the best trainer I’ve had the opportunity to work with, and an absolute ray of sunshine!
I always look forward to our workouts, which make me feel better inside and out. Most of all, I love that they are super efficient, but always fun (nothing brutal), and that they can be precisely tailored to my needs week after week.

I found Smiling Soul fitness while trying to workout at home during the pandemic. I have been active and healthy my entire life so taking away the gym was hard.
I got a new job that requires airport travel every day (sitting on a plane or in an airport). I love Beth’s workouts because they can be done at home or wherever I am stuck for the night. I am 51 and the changes I have seen over the course of a year have been amazing. I am no longer in pain from sitting, I have developed muscle tone in my legs and really strengthened my core. I look forward to her workouts and love that I don’t need the gym anymore.
Beth’s short and sweet meditations are a wonderful end to my workouts.

I have been working out with Beth Alexander since February of 2019 to the present. I have worked out most of my life and now at 72 find maintenance harder. I recently had a 2 year gap recovering from a major illness and that is when I found Beth Alexander Fitness.
Beth is so personalized in her training approach it has been worth every minute! Her program is always tailored to your weekly needs while maintaining overall goals for strength in your body.
Beth is always continuing her own personal growth, seeking solutions for her clients problems and constantly incorporates these training techniques into our workouts to increase motion, strength and mobility in all areas.
I recently had one of my strongest ski trips ever in the last 5 years due to breath, leg and Core work.
She always shows up with a
positive attitude, always encouraging and paying attention to the details. She is present and participating throughout the workout. This is something I have really come to appreciate especially in these remote times.

I’ve been training with Beth continuously since 2014. What started out as a necessary focus on my lower back has since evolved into the whole body mind, soul and spirit. Our workouts didn’t skip a beat when we transitioned from in-person to zoom due to the pandemic and they are equally as effective. The workouts that Beth creates are intentional, accessible and effective for all fitness levels. Beth has been my trainer for almost 7 years now (in-person and through Zoom). She knows a lot about how muscles work together, why our bodies respond to particular exercises the way they do, and is able to explain it in a way that is clear and concise. During my workouts with Beth (both in-person and through Zoom), I've needed help making modifications for various movements because they've caused me pain. Beth is always ready and able to provide the modification that will allow me to do the exercise in a way that alleviates the pain, without diminishing the benefits of the workout. I've really been enjoying Beth's new online platform Smiling Soul Fitness. It gives me access to her live workouts, or I can access workouts on demand through her extensive library of programs. The site provides lots of variety so I can choose the type of workout I want to do that day (10 minute workout, 45 minute workout, live workout, etc). I've recently paired Smiling Soul Fitness workouts with a private, weekly accountability coaching session with Beth. This has been a game changer for me. Meeting with Beth weekly through Zoom has provided me the accountability I need to keep up with my weekly workout goals. During our 15 minute sessions, she sets me up with goals for the week, both in fitness and nutrition. Without these sessions, I know I'd be less likely to stick to my workout goals. I am so grateful to have found Beth, and hope you'll get to know her and give her workouts a try. You will be so glad you did!

I have been doing Beth's online video courses for a number of years now. I'm a former runner who isn't able to run anymore due to knee injuries, and was looking for something that would help me keep fit in a low impact way. I also don't have the time to get to the gym. Beth's online courses are absolutely fantastic. Her exercises are as challenging as you make them, her cues are perfect (something that I find missing in many online videos), and her sparkling personality just makes you want to come back for more. She is all about doing what works for your body, while still gently pushing you to work hard. I can't believe the workout that I am able to get in just 30 minutes, with a few five minute finishers. While I wish I lived in Santa Barbara for her in-person training, these courses are a wonderful alternative. I can't recommend them highly enough! Thank you, Beth!

Beth is a true professional and has so much knowledge to share with her her clients! I first started going to Beth's classes at UCSB about 10 years ago and I have followed her ever since.
Most recently I did some personal training sessions with Beth before my wedding last year. I wanted to feel and look my best, although I also wanted to work on solving some nagging aches and pains that I have from sports and repetitive motion injuries. I was so happy with my results! Not only did I tone up in the areas I was looking to tone, I also felt so much better and was able to go surfing on my honeymoon without shoulder pain which was such a relief!
Beth not only knows how to sweetly (yet very directly and honestly) motivate you, she is so knowledgeable about human anatomy and biomechanics. I felt like I gained so much valuable information after working out with Beth! She also taught me so many stretches and foam rolling techniques to do at home. It is such a joy to just be around Beth, her energy and passion for what she does is infectious!

I’ll just begin by saying with 100% genuineness, Beth Alexander is easily the most effective personal trainer I have ever been exposed to. Beth brings the whole package: customization, diligence, high intelligence, clear communication, injury avoidance, and a pleasant personality. She also adjusts well should her client have age-related limitations and will work closely with your Physical Therapist should you have one, which I see as highly valuable. Frankly, I was hesitant at first in requesting that Beth take me on since my previous trainer gave me a meniscus tear. However, after receiving the strongest of accolades from my highly trusted Physical Therapist, I decided to move forward with Beth in February 2019 and have had nothing but a fully overall positive experience (she is my 4th PT and will be my last as long as she will have me as her client). All upside, no downside, great value for the money.

I have been training with Beth for the past two months, both private and semi-private sessions. The private sessions are great, but semi-privates are just as good and a little more affordable. I cannot say enough good things about Beth. I have been in the gym atmosphere for over twenty-five years and I have witnessed a lot of trainers, and Beth, is by far the best! She will design a safe, effective and creative workout based on your individual goals and needs. If you have an injury, she will work around your injury. Once you have mastered a set of exercises, you will progress safely to more and challenging exercises. I started seeing Beth in June twice a week for private training sessions and cannot recommend her highly enough. The workouts are always challenging and have variety so you don’t feel like you are doing the same thing everyday. This past month I switched it up and did semi-private sessions twice a week and really enjoyed it. The great thing about the semi-private sessions is that you get Beth’s focused attention and a personalized workout plan but at a lower cost. She has helped me set goals and motivates me to continue working towards those goals. Beth is the perfect mix of tough and encouraging- she has the ability to balance challenging you to get the most out of your training without screaming at you or pushing you beyond what your body can do. Beth also knows how to deal with different injuries and sensitivities. A couple times when I complained of shoulder pain, she did some stretches with me the instantly helped.

I have been training with Beth for about 6 months, both in private and semi private session, and have only great things to say about all of it!
Her private sessions are a truely tailored workout experience, with the most up to date techniques and excersises available. Semi private training has the same tailored experience, at a more accessible rate. These sessions have a certain amount of routine so you can really perfect the movements, while also adding in different variations to keep it interesting. Also, you get to train with a friend which is always fun.
Beth keeps knowledge base very up to date and has a passion for teaching, so as a client I was able to learn an amazing amount about mobility and overall conditioning. I have been able to take this knowledge and maintain my workouts outside of the gym. From an improvement in overall health, to eliminating my back pain, learning from and training with Beth has been an immeasurable asset in my life!

Beth introduced me to Foundation Training in a workshop at Yoga Soup about three years ago. Two athlete friends were enthusiastic about Foundation Training so I checked it out and have been taking classes from Beth ever since. I am 70 years old, a competitive swimmer and have worked at a desk my whole career so I had issues. Beth taught us the principles of Foundation Training in the workshop and I knew this was what I needed to strengthen my back and core muscles and increase flexibility in my hamstrings and hips. Beth is an inspiring teacher/coach/cheerleader who makes challenging physical exercise fun and she keeps it interesting by varying each class. Foundation Training is a technical exercise Beth demonstrates and gives everyone in class individual instruction and encouragement. Her cheery enthusiastic personality helps me push myself. The exercise routines are all done without equipment, depending solely on stretching and strengthening our muscles by supporting
our own body weight in challenging poses. I take only one class a week but throughout the days in between I’ll strike a pose just to wake up and stretch my muscles. Beth has advanced training in physiology and is always helpful when I ask her suggestions for anything physical that needs attention. I highly recommend you check out Foundation Training with Beth as your teacher.

Beth is terrific. She focuses on how you feel instead of how you look, and helps you set goals for each session. She holds you accountable in a non-threatening way. Her workouts are fun, interactive, and ever-evolving. Each workout focuses on a particular set of muscle groups. She will challenge you to push yourself, while encouraging you along the way. She is not a drill sergeant, and is open to feedback if something doesn't feel right or you have a question about a particular exercise. She will modify exercises to challenge you or keep it more basic if you experience pain in that area. She is extremely well-informed and is able to explain and describe muscles and exercises in a way that actually makes sense! The workouts often consist of about 8 ladies and are often geared around a set of circuits that you rotate through. Because the classes are small, Beth is able to correct your form to make sure you're getting the most out of your workout while avoiding injury.
