I joined a year ago and it's been a great experience, as advertised. Crossfit does work, even in only two hours a week I am much more functionally fit than I was when I started - at the orientation, Tim asked "is there anyone who can't run?" and I thought about raising my hand. Now I know I can run - as well as get down on the floor to play with grandkids, get up, lift things, etc. Great community of people with a perfect balance of high standards and supportive environment for all levels.

I’ve never been able to try their classes because it’s impossible to reach them. I filled out the form on their website, none ever reached out. I called the number and they have an automatic voice message that says they don’t respond to that number (the one they provide in their email). I sent one more email and none replied. I’m sure the classes are great but as a business it’s incredibly disappointing and unprofessional. I expected more for classes at this price point. So sad, I was so excited to try their classes.

If you’re dropping in make sure to send them an email ahead of time. No online signup unfortunately. Go to NCFit instead if you’re dropping in! This place needs to get with the times.

This was a great gym for a drop in. I was able to sign up for class easily online ahead of time. Tim (owner/coach) is really experienced and knowledgeable. The people were friendly and very welcoming and the gym was organizing and well equipped. Looking forward to my next visit.

I'm not a stereotypical fitness fanatic. I've dabbled noncommittally to all kinds of physical activities over the years like foot races and daily commuter cycling. I even tried Crossfit once when I lived on the east coast. All of these activities were of course very beneficial. But this time it's different.

I've been attending Crossfit Palo Alto consistently 3x per week for 2.5 years. And without a doubt it has quantifiably made me stronger. I know because we keep meticulous personal journals where we document every exercise and every weight lifted. The result is I can pick-up and move much heavier weights than I could 3 years ago.

I've also seen qualitative gains as well. Primarily, I JUST MOVE BETTER NOW. It's improved my mobility / range of motion, it's made me a better skier, a better golfer, a better runner and I'm convinced it's made me a better father and husband as well.

Gym doesn't offer open gym and wouldn't let me find a corner to complete a workout for an online competition I'm in (would've happily paid a fee). I get that that's not their policy but I've never run into crossfitters that weren't eager to help another athlete on their journey. Pretty disappointing. Went to Ncfit instead (down the street), which was bigger, friendlier, and more accommodating.

I started CrossFit a year ago to improve my strength for Spartan OCR Races.

I was happy to find a welcoming community of all types of individuals at CrossFit Palo Alto. It was nice to find folks of all ages and abilities. I enjoy that all the workouts can be scaled to your ability level. Plus, CrossFit keeps me interested, because of the variety of exercises and workouts and I am always learning something new or have the ability to improve.

I have definitely gained strength in all areas, which has helped me with my running and ability to complete obstacles.

Working out with a community has kept me motivated and accountable with my own training. I have enjoyed participating in the CrossFit Open and a MURPH workout.

I've belonged to three different CrossFit gyms, and CrossFit Palo Alto is hands down my favorite and the best I've experienced in terms of community, quality of coaching and programming. Tim is a super knowledgable, very professional, and will meet you where you're at whether it's your first fitness class ever or you've been working out for years. I really appreciate his emphasis on making CrossFit a sustainable practice and part of your weekly routine. He keeps the workouts challenging, varied and interesting. I been amazed by how much stronger and more physically capable I feel just from going to class twice a week. I highly recommend checking this gym out!

One of the best CrossFit boxes around, and I just celebrated my 6th year as a member , and I turn 62 in August. Coaches are knowledgeable and supporting, and all levels of fitness or athleticism fit in here. We leave our ego at the door, or should I say at the big tent πŸ˜€

Tim and Graeme are thorough professionals while being empathetic to personal fitness needs. They have created a family and a community. They bring appropriate challenge, enthusiasm and high quality coaching to get you going and keep getting better. I knew this is true when my body started giving me feedback about muscles that I did not know I had. Kudos to CFPA.

I joined CrossFit Palo Alto in November 2020. Before joining I read all the reviews here and hope I can add my two cents for the folks considering this workout place...

I would like to share my honest feedback with you. I regret NOT joining this gym sooner in my life. I live within a couple of minutes' drive from the gym -- I have seen the folks work out umpteen number of times, but never took the leap. And the reason was just sheer fear. I wish I had not listened to my inner voice or friends and family who advised that cross-fit is for athletes, a very intense workout routine, maybe difficult with my arrhythmia.......:).

Even with a month and half of the routine workout -- I can feel a remarkable difference. It may be too early to say -- I usually get a version of a light arrhythmia when I exert in certain movements -- but I have not had one in the last month and a half.

If there is one thing that is positive about the pandemic -- I can say it's the decision to join the gym! I am incredibly grateful to be on this journey with the dedicated coaches and my goal is to truly get stronger and push myself beyond the boundaries and limits and get over the fear.......:)

I have been a member here for years and I am really not able to imagine my life without CFPA and our community! Tim is great and so is the rest of the coaching staff (Alma, Graeme). I have grown with CFPA and have developed real friendships with wonderful people. I am so happy and proud to be part of the CFPA family!

I have been going to CrossFit Palo Alto for over three years and I love it. The coaches are great and really help me where I need it (and yell at me when I need it too). The whole gym is a wonderful community. We all work together to help out each other, especially during this covid crisis. Tim has been putting up workouts with demos and modifications 6 days a week on Instagram! My whole family has gotten involved in the workouts even my 5 and 9 year old. I really can't say enough good things about this gym.

I was in town and did two drop-ins at CFPA. Both the coaches Tim and Graeme were really good and gave me some good tips. The rest of the classes were really friendly and made me feel very welcome. Definitely coming back on my next visit.

I normally don't post reviews but CFPA deserves a 5 star review. I have been a member of various fitness communities and gyms but nothing is as outstanding as CFPA. When I joined CFPA, I was going through a bunch of shoulder issues. Not only did my coaches provide me with a safe workout routine, they went out of their way to help me with my shoulder. The emphasis on getting the basics right ensures that you can workout without injuring yourself. The community here is amazing. People cheer you, support you and help you become better and stronger. Do yourself a favor and drop in for an introductory class. It's the best thing you can do for you-- physically and mentally

Reaching my 4 year anniversary at CrossFit Palo Alto in January, and I will be turning 60 in 2019. I cannot express in words how much CrossFit has improved my outlook on life and my health. My parents both passed away at 69 and 70, and for years this has haunted me the closer I get to their age. I no longer feel this way because I have embraced CrossFit as a daily habit, and I don't intend to ever give it up. What is CrossFit - "Constantly varied functional movements performed at high intensity". Key words "Functional movements", what are functional movements... Have you ever watched a young child squat and stand back up with ease and wish it was easy for you to get out of a chair or possibly from the floor, this is a perfect example of functional movement. We lose this as we age, especially if you are not active. How many of you now use your hands on your knees to get out of a chair, I know 30 somethings that have issues already because they sit all day in a chair working at a computer, their posture is horrible because they have lost their core. What is your "core" your core is where your power is generated in order to carry out any movement. So think about it, when your climbing stairs , or climbing up bleachers to watch your child's baseball game, and you have suddenly feel unstable walking down.
The coaches Tim, Graeme and Alma are wonderful, they scale the workouts to your ability, but still push you to step out of your comfort zone. They want you to succeed! Our community is of all ages, and abilities, it's so worth it!

Tim runs through a place, and is a perfect role model to learn from and with. He is fun, interacts with everyone, plans solid workouts, helps you push your limits, helps you stay focussed on technique, and helps get a great workout every time. The batches are strong and steady, and it's easy to fit into a healthy regime. For me, the most important things ng was to find a gym that offers a 5 am workout - it's awesome to be here at 5 every morning!

Started in April after having tried a bunch of other ways to stay fit and de-stress (swimming, running, cycling, etc.) with limited success. CrossFit has been really great. I mean, it's stinking hard, but really great. I came with no upper body strength and I'm not magically a professional arm wrestler, I'm rapidly gaining functional strength in my arms and core. Walter, Matt and Tim have all been really great helping modify workouts to help me learn and stay safe. They want you to push yourself and they'll help, but they're much more concerned that you're doing the work properly and safely.

The most unexpected benefit is how enjoyable the mixture of intensity and community is. By having people keep to a time slot, you get to know the people you work out with and you have a consistent coach for those workouts - you definitely build community going through difficult workouts together.

But ultimately, it's a major bonus to feel (physically) better day in and day out - my body, ironically, hurts less.

I love CrossFit Palo Alto.

April marks my one year anniversary at CFPA. In this time, I've completed over 150 workouts at CrossFit Palo Alto. It's been an incredible journey so far, and in my time at the box, I'm in disbelief at how many times i have set goals, then those goals have been exceeded. I set newer higher goals, and again and again, those goals are met and then left behind.

I thought this astonishing personal progress in fitness would be the major draw, but in reality, the bonds built with other members and coaches of CFPA, albeit unexpected, are what keeps me going back. Those people uplift my spirits on days that are difficult, make what seem like super challenging workouts possible, cheer for each other in our accomplishments and push through our weaknesses. Some friends have asked me why I don't go to an earlier class and get the workout "out of the way". My response recently has been, "Because i don't think of my time at CFPA as something that i need to get out of the way". I truly look forward to my time there, and it's my treat for the end of the day; to be at an amazing box, with thoughtful programming, excellent coaching, and classmates that i truly adore, is the perfect way to end a day. All this, knowing that I will be challenged and can push myself to my limits in a environment full of care. What else can anyone ask for?

I walked into my first CrossFit class on a Saturday about 15 months ago. I had recently finished my first marathon, battling through injury after injury throughout my training process. I was looking for a program that would help me build some leg strength and get me back on the road running injury free. I can safely say that CrossFit Palo Alto has not only helped me get over my nagging running injuries, but it has also far succeeded all of my expectations.

Before I started doing CrossFit, I had a lot of concern about sacrificing form for speed. It seems to be a common belief that crossfitters don't care about proper form and only care about completing the workout. I've learned that the coaches make a huge difference. All the coaches at CFPA do a great job of going over all movements to make sure that you're moving safely through the workout. When I first started, Tim paid extra attention making sure that I wasn't going injure myself. He also helped me select weights to ensure that I would be challenging myself, without going overboard. Over the past several months, I've also had the pleasure of working with Graeme. Graeme has really helped me on some of the more complex movements, providing me great verbal cues to try to keep my form in check.

The classes are kept small to ensure that the coaches can spread their focus amongst the class. One of the best features CFPA is the fact that you are signing up for specific days and times when you join. At first I thought this was severely limiting. However, it forced me to plan my schedule and held me to my workouts since I had a specific time and day I was signed up for (the hardest thing about any workout regimen is showing up). Another great part of this is that you quickly get to know other members in your class since. Over the past year, I've made a lot of great friends from my class, and it really helps to be around people that encourages you to do your best and will cheer for you to help you finish the last pieces of a tough workout.

I started off with going just 2x a week and during that time I saw incredible improvement both in form and strength. Recently, I upped it to 3x a week and really love the extra workout each week.

I've dropped into other CrossFit gyms and every time it reminds me how great the program is at CFPA. From the coaching staff, to the community, and the people, CFPA is top notch. I can't recommend this box enough.

Tim and the team at CrossFit Palo Alto deliver a quality experience and help you get the results you are looking for. Regardless of where you are starting (age, ability, goals, skill) they craft a program to help you meet the plan you agree on.

Don't expect to go in and hop on a machine like a traditional gym. They keep you active and moving, and push you to your limit to help get the results you desire.

The sense of community and shared vision for success create a great environment for you to take charge of your fitness future.
