They offer great massages. I can't recommend Chihiro highly enough. She is one of the best massage therapists I've had in my life - I drive all the way to Marina del Rey every time I am in LA for work. She's so knowledgeable about anatomy that she really helps get my body back into shape. Highly recommend if you've got computer-tight shoulders or post-workout tension. She's also a lovely person to be around. Definitely five stars!

This place is absolutely filthy - never seen anything like this. Terrible. Who the hell is the GM? Stopped by because I was in the area and so grateful this isn’t my home gym

Enjoy this location - the free parking and the spa in particular. I am a regular client of Chihiro and very much appreciate her attentiveness to my needs. I miss one of the instructors that recently left but overall still a fan of the location and would recommend.

I enjoy coming to the gym to not only work out but to have Chihiro’s excellent massages that keep me moving and in less pain. She truly is a Master Therapist, very knowledgeable and so kind. She is able to understand what your body needs each session and targets treatments accordingly. I highly recommend her! The facility is always kept clean and organized, which I truly appreciate. The class instructors are uniformly well trained and the classes top notch.

It’s always the same thing.
I don’t understand how a multi million dollar company can always have something wrong with the equipment
Look I get there are so many people who come and use the facility, but you need to do a better job and maintaining. There’s always something broken or not working. It gets annoying.

’ve been a member at Equinox Marina del Rey for a while now, and it continues to exceed expectations. The facility is spotless, modern, and thoughtfully laid out—everything feels top-tier the moment you walk in. The staff is welcoming and attentive, and you can tell they genuinely care about the member experience.
The variety of classes and instructors is excellent, whether you’re looking for strength training, yoga, or something more high-intensity. The personal training team is also outstanding—knowledgeable, motivating, and professional. Equipment is always in great condition, and the locker rooms feel more like a spa than a gym, with high-end amenities that make every visit feel like a reset.
The location is convenient, the community is positive, and the overall energy is inspiring. Equinox MDR is more than just a gym—it’s a place to stay consistent, feel motivated, and enjoy the process. Highly recommend!

Dear Equinox Marina del Rey Team,
I would like to share some feedback regarding the recent equipment updates at the club. Around one to two months ago, the incline chest press machine was removed during the upgrade. Since then, several flat chest press machines have been added — both plate-loaded and selectorized — but unfortunately, no incline chest press machine was brought in to replace the old one.
Currently, this means there are three machines that target the same flat chest press motion, but none for the incline movement, which is an essential part of a balanced chest workout. The incline press specifically trains the upper chest, and without it, the workout options for chest development at the club feel incomplete.
I kindly request that you consider either bringing back the old incline chest press or adding a modern replacement. This adjustment would make the equipment selection more complete and versatile. Otherwise, I may have to consider moving my membership to another location that provides this essential machine.
Thank you for your attention, and I hope to see this improvement soon.

This is the main gym that I go to, while there are some good things about this place, a few things are critically damaging the whole member experience:
- pros: free unlimited parking, so you don't have to worry if you take 2 classes or work out for longer,
great group fitness classes - great choice of different types (even though equinox corporate keeps dumbing down the overall class selection, removing cool formats like firestarter, true athlete, kettlebell classes)
- cons: the gym is small, is extremely crowded ANY time of the day (they need to open another location closeby, this one cannot handle the amount of people it's having now)
the location quite frequently has power outages (communicated last minute even though sometimes they have a day warning ahead, so you just kiss the door on a Sunday because they sent an email at 5am about the closure), fake fire alarms (I've been through a few serious fire alarms that led to a fire or a shooting on a spot so for me those don't feel light)
personal trainers hoarding multiple pieces of equipment (the new-ish ones NEED to be trained on how to be nice to members, because members might become clients, while some of PTs are extremely nice, there's a bunch that's not)

Equinox Marina del Rey has truly become a part of my routine, and I couldn’t be happier with the experience. The facilities are beautiful, but what really stands out to me is how clean and well-maintained everything is—especially the locker rooms and
showers. No matter what time of day I come in, everything is spotless. Huge respect to the cleaning staff for keeping the place looking great at all times. It doesn’t go unnoticed!
The trainers are also excellent. I’ve had great experiences with Oguzcan and Louis in particular—they’re both super approachable, knowledgeable, and efficient. What I appreciate most is that they’re helpful without being condescending or overly “showy,” which can be hard to find in fitness spaces. They make you feel comfortable, no matter your level.
There’s also a wide variety of classes that are accessible and inclusive—great for all fitness levels, whether you're just starting or looking to challenge yourself.
The crowd is friendly and refreshingly diverse, and I’ve found it to be a great place for making casual connections. People are open, and it’s not unusual to end up sharing workout tips or exchanging advice—there’s a positive, supportive energy that makes the space feel even more motivating.
Overall, Equinox Marina del Rey offers a high-end experience without the ego. It’s clean, friendly, and really well-run. I always leave feeling better than when I arrived.

For me, it's just the right size gym. Not too big or not too small. Great amenities, nice location. Can't complain about much. Only bad thing is the annual price increase (no grandfather/loyalty pricing)

This is a JV and unprofessional operation.
I’m a nonmember visiting from out of town on a work trip and staying nearby. I wanted to work out, so I called the gym to ask if I could purchase a day pass.
I spoke with a staff member named Anthony, who informed me that non members could purchase a day pass for $45. This aligned with the information I found online, but I called to confirm.
Excited to get a lift in, I walked 20 minutes to the gym. At the front desk, I spoke with a woman who was standing off to the side, using her phone. I told her I needed to purchase a day pass, and she replied, “We don’t offer day passes for nonmembers.” I mentioned that Anthony had quoted me $45, to which she responded, “Anthony tends to give out incorrect information.”
No accountability. No remorse. That was it.
I don’t need to use the gym to understand the kind of operation they’re running. You can tell just by interacting with the management team.

Not worth the money. In the first month of my membership an equinox personal trainer (while being paid to train someone else) came up to my boyfriend to tell him how to correct my form, and I felt weird there ever since so eventually cancelled my membership after rarely going. The gym is way too small for how many memberships are offered, and it isn’t nearly as nice as other equinox locations. It’s just a regular gym with a high price tag.

I was looking for a gym in the neighborhood and wanted ti check this equinox out. The front desk stuff was extremely rude. They did not ask whether I would like a membership or why am I stopping by which is what any business would do. Would never be back at this location and telling all my friends to stay away. There are plenty of other locations that would be happy to have you as a customer.

Have been holding the all inclusive pass for over a year. This location is probably one of the less accommodating ones. I had a luggage that I couldn’t fit in the locker so ask the front desk if I can I leave it in the front with them. They said no. Gym itself looks like a normal gym, clean but nothing special. It looks and feels like LA fitness inside. I wouldn’t recommend to pay over 200 dollars monthly for this average looking gym with unaccommodating service. It’s really not worth it. Check out the Culver City one or South Bay. Staff is super nice and accommodating, and you can tell the quality is way better

This wouldn't be such a bad place if the rates didn't continuously get hiked, and their internal computer systems didn't arbitrarily charge you. The latter of which leads to full on drama in trying to get refunded. Just a nightmare. After this latest charge from nowhere, I've had enough. Just pissed I gave up another gym membership to do this. Enter at your own risk. Overpriced at first and now I have to add thieving.
And knowing that I will have to start with the black hole of supposed customer service which either goes the route of "sorry, the manager is not available" or "no, we don't handle that here..." even though the arbitrary charges are from there. For the monthly to be so high and the services to be so bad, just wow.
Also, stay away from the spa. If you don't pay attention, you will end up paying for appointments you never had, and spending weeks demanding refunds. The person overseeing this for MDR, does not embody competence, this will be my third and final time dealing with this.

I loved coming here, but you’re just a dollar sign to them, most of the staff is genuinely kind, but since they are part of a robotic corporation, service issues end very robotic and corporate / greedy. For context, I got robbed outside of here, and had to argue to get out of a reservation fee of unknown money, ended up ruining the experience and was promised a resolution that they forgot about.
Joined a climbing gym instead for less than half price and way better :)

Kiels products for the showers, amazing masseuses, sauna. They are awesome and pampering you and this is a very good location! Take the chance! It’s a great value for what you are paying.

Attention to all Equinox members and future members. BEWARE. I have been a loyal Equinox member for 6 years. This location used to be one of my favorite locations. As of this year, A new Assistant Manager by the name of Michael (Mike) Smith has Harassed me on several accounts in front of the entire Gym. I have reported the Harassment to Human Resources numerous times and did not receive a direct response. I believe that one of the main importance of owning a company is maintaining a good reputation where all of your members feel safe and welcome. Instead of holding their employee accountable of his actions the General manager has opted to denying me access to this location.

This is by far the best gym I’ve ever been to. It’s always clean, staff is friendly, equipment is updated and I’ve never had to wait on a machine. They have a variety of in club classes even a Pilates studio. A well balance of classes. The only thing I would criticize is some of the fees. It can feel like you’re being nickeled and dimed.
The Pilates classes (with equipment) is a separate fee which is pretty pricey I don’t ever see anyone in there taking classes. The Marina Del Rey location is one of the smaller gym’s but it doesn’t feel that way. They still offer a lot.

Bad experience with equinox!!! Way to over croweded anytime of the day you go. Three people per machine. For 300 plus dollars a month there isn’t any real benefit except new treadmills with Tv screens. I have been going to Equinox for the past 4 years and used number of their locations in both Canada as well as California. Can tell by far this is the worst location. Visited last week and that was my first and last time in this location. Extremely rude staff, too busy and don't have enough benches..... But what stood out was one of the staff who was unbelievably rude. For high end gyms like Equinox I expect a minimum level of training for the staff. Have to say I love every other Equinox location I have visited.

The decor is nice, there is no gross gym smell anywhere, and I love how friendly the employees are. But there just isn't enough lifting equipment here. It is frustrating to drop so much money on a membership and on almost every visit find that not one of the 3-4 of the machines I plan to use that day are available. There is only one deadlift platform and one squat rack, both of which are in constant use. I was there today from 6-7pm and not once did I manage to get on one of the weight benches, which prompted me to finally write this review. I wish they would address this.

It's hard to express how bad this gym is. There are levels to the contempt that it has for anyone staff seems unworthy. I've never in my life felt more unsafe. This is not a place where you can be yourself, or do your own thing, or not follow the status quo. You are penalized for being different or living your life in an alternative way. You pay an outrageous amount for these very real negatives. Don't join this awful gym. Planet Fitness has better reviews and at less than .05% of the cost. I regret signing up and will only work out here as long as I'm contractually obligated.

THE actual worst equinox I have ever been to. I have been singled out by the management team and by the trainers due to me being AN ACTUAL GYM GOER. As someone who has been professionally trained, and is up to all the current fitness practices.
I especially feel very uncomfortable with and creeped out by the general manager. He makes conversations uncomfortable by using unprofessional body language to talk to clients. Not to mention the amount of times he checks out young women.
This gym is a clique for people who only want to be seen and not workout.
The trainers help insure this by hating anyone who has better techniques and form than them.
I am never going here again as I now feel so unwelcome and uncomfortable.

In my 20 years of training I've never reviewed a club, but this place is managed so poorly that I'm compelled. The management and the clientele at this gym is the absolute worst. Broken faucets, a scale that's been broken for over 6 months now and the "Club Director" is absolutely unprofessional. I was excited to hear that EQX MdR would be reopening, as 11 months without my gym has taken its toll on my mental health. When I looked into going back, I was shocked to hear about the additional costs to return (as someone who does pretty well for themselves, but it’s the principle of the matter).
With an existing membership of $220/month (albeit temporarily paused due to covid), I can’t quite believe that Equinox have the audacity (in the midst of a pandemic) to enforce a new “All Access” level of raised commitment to $270/month in order for you to return to workout outdoors?!?!!!....This is so incredibly tone-deaf.
Just when I hoped this brand would show its (alleged) authenticity and inclusion as a fitness-first organization, putting the (mental & physical) wellbeing of its existing (then new) members first, instead it chose an elitist and finances-over-fitness approach, cashing in at the most inappropriate time for this country and its members. Massively disappointed. Where do I terminate my account indefinitely?!...

We have been a member of the Equinox chain since 2008. We recently moved from NY. This location is a rip-off. Worst Equinox in the country. Super small and they are too cheap to upgrade their equipment. Will give it a few more months to see if they’ll at least upgrade the equipment. If not we’re canceling. There are other gyms in this area for a lot less with more space and better equipment.

I paid for a long distance Uber ride for my cousin and his three friends to visit this Equinox only to be disturbed and let down by the entire experience.
My cousin and friends relayed the following:
The staff were not present or welcoming at all, even though my cousin attempted to judge favorably for the 45min long wait at the lobby, after the only staff member kept insisting an alternate employee would show up in 5min, which never occurred.
Then finally after 35min the employee who communicated with them came to their side to help them, said they're unable to assist them for signing up since the manager wasn't present or left. My cousin told me they were constantly giving him and his friends the run around.
When attempting to leave they harassed my cousin and his friends. Their staff in addition followed my cousins through other sections of the shopping mall. Bad experience, unprofessional, incompetent environment. Workers here are irresponsible, unknowledgeable, ignorant, disrespectful, lazy, unresponsive, and the overall communication is misleading, and a complete waste of time. Even though I'm not a member, I hope to never refer any of my contacts at this Marina Del Rey location again UNLESS fundamental improvements are permanently made.

Copied this post because I used to be a member here and it’s true. Company doesn't honor cancellations. Managers will have you fill out the form and then refuse to submit it. Very unethical, all attempts to reach management have gone unanswered. Staff members take down your message and then the manager never calls you back.
As for the gym, there's nothing special about it all, especially this location - probably the smallest Equinox location and thus it is just as packed as any other gym in the LA area . . . . At $200+ a month . . To the people that insist the staff members make-up for the gym not being big? Ya, these are probably people who need to pay for friendship. Imagine all the equipment you could buy for yourself? Did I mention eucalyptus oil is very cheap?
The slogan - "It's not fitness, it's life" is interesting considering this gym is only good for people who are only interested if they're working out in a group and aren't motivated to work out on their own - . . Adopt an entrepreneurial mindset -why pay exorbitantly high rates to make other people's dreams happen? Pay to make your own dreams happen because at the price of this gym . . $200 x 12 months, imagine how much more fitness could be a part of your life if you set-up your own gym at home

I'd rather go here than LA Fitness so that is why Equinox always gets my vote. But there are some disappointments along with a couple of high points.
Dislike: on the smaller side especially for the cost, their hours not great especially weekends. I have a huge gripe for quality of stuff in the locker room/restroom--faucets always broken, toilet flushes at the wrong time, the lights are so low in the bathroom I can't see where I need to pee pee (which is a simple fix, change light bulbs), and for some reason, very simple thing that causes a lot of annoyance is the paper towel holder doesn't dispense consistently so you have to use that wheel to force it out probably 75% of the time. There is always spit and mucus in the water fountain near the weight machines area, ugh..but people are gross no matter what even at the most high end places--but I wish that would get cleaned up or a sign to be put up to not SPIT your flem in the water fountain. That big mat is *always* filthy...they need to sweep up those curly leg hairs more often. Many of the trainers can be snobby. Many of the clientele can be snobby and entitled. Lastly, wish there was more space (compared to LA Fitness, Equinox is small).
What do I like? Carl....and the rest of the front desk crew. Like the location and parking, the shop, the machines, the showers, and you don't get hit on as often as LA fitness.

Cons: $200/month... But you don't receive $200 a month in value (unless you're a class-nut). The good classes are very packed, and you have to reserve a spot as soon as the app will allow you to; 26 hours prior to class start time. During peak times, the relatively small weight and machine area can get rather crowded. At any given time 15% of these people have their faces buried in their phones, taking up space.
There is only one paper towel dispenser in the bathroom, causing a frequent number of awkward people-jams.
Pros: Clean gym, clean locker rooms, plenty of cardio equipment, big selection of classes if you're into that sort of thing. Steam room is nice. Very nice front desk staff.

Was going to sign up, and like all shady gyms, they want a contract. No business in 2017 requires you to sign a contract unless you are doing some sort of special order. Even cell phone companies dropped the requirement. No different than Bally's gym was in the 1990s to be honest, it's like buying a used car from Tony Soprano. I guess they have something to hide as a good business knows you'll keep coming back for the product, not because there is a contract over your head.

I enjoy spending a lot of my time at this Equinox because it's large, clean, and the trainers & teachers are really friendly. I have utilized some personal training, yoga class instruction, and pilates privates and have really quite enjoyed all of them. There are always cardio and weight machines to jump on even during the busiest times.
The managers are a little pushy when it comes to scheduling you for your complimentary sessions (attempts to up-sell). I was also told when I signed up that I would be able to visit out of town locations if I was traveling for work and that hasn't proven to be quite so easy, I generally have to pay a visitors fee.

Equinox Marina Del Rey is a great little neighborhood gym. You see a lot of the same faces each day, and most of the staff is very friendly. The good ones even make an effort to know your name.
The gym is kept clean, they offer unlimited towel service, and provide some nice amenities in the locker room (razors, Kiehl's soaps/shampoo/conditioner/lotion, etc). There's also WiFi available for no additional charge (notice how I don't say "free").
Overall its a very nice place to workout, and a person can get spoiled by the level of service (as compared to LA Fitness or 24 Hour Fitness).
There is limited space, which means limited equipment, and when it's Prime Time, there are almost as many trainers on the gym floor as their are members, which can make finding open equipment very challenging.

This Equinox is not very big but the staff and members here makes up for it. The front desk staff Bethany & Robert are so friendly. The mangers here (Nick, Angelica, Ben, and Eric) are very personable and very willing to improve your Equinox experiences.
Fitness instructors here are super friendly. I enjoy taking Katie's & Rene's spin classes. Also try Susie Frank's & Aji's yoga classes.
There's not as many workout equipments as other gyms but I can find other substitutes. As long they keep this place very clean and not smelly, I'll keep coming here.

I am not one to EVER leave bad reviews. However, I received calls at 5am and 6am from trainers in New York City AGAIN this morning. After calling and calling; asking to have my personal cell removed from the system they have done nothing. Mind you, I am never in new york so why they are that unorganized I have NO idea. Point being, never give EQ your personal number, as no one will respect your privacy. I signed up for a membership and got a membership phone call and email every day following. Also, I advise you to not sign a contract. If you move somewhere without an EQ.. good luck getting out of it. Buyers beware.

I've been going here for about 2 months now, I love the classes I got into yoga. the earth bar is great. the staff is incredibly friendly I have not met a mean person or a snobby person there. They even remember your name. They have great showers and body wash for after my workouts, along with an awesome steam room. I would definitely recommend this to anybody.paying what I pay, I can't afford not to go so I see a HUGE difference in my body. Worth it for me. 100%

Oh my God. This gym. Is incredible.
I've never been in a gym that was so clean and inviting as Equinox. Natural lighting, beautiful design, friendly staff and clientele, and lots of open space for stretching and floor work....and I could seriously live in the bathrooms. Oh, and good music too!
Okay, so I'll start with the locker rooms. Exceptionally clean and well designed. This is the first locker room I've ever been in that didn't make my anxiety soar through the roof. In fact, I feel so comfortable in there that it's soothing after a long day and intense workout. They are very large, so I don't ever anticipate not having space to get dressed or an open locker to use. They even have small lock boxes that you can input a code in case you forget a lock. There is a very nice eucalyptus steam room to de-stress, and then there are the showers. The showers are beautiful...private stalls with frosted glass doors and a wood-slatted floor. They are spacious and have a separation in two parts, so on one side you can hang your clothes and towels without them getting wet. There is a wooden bench, and a supply of Kiehls shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. I'm very particular about the products I use, and I adore Kiehls. My hair has never looked better!
A bunch of things are supplied in the locker rooms, and it's a relief not to have to bring my own everything. They have eco-friendly towels, Kiehls shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and body lotion, Q-tips, cotton balls, Kleenex, Solano hair dryers, hair spray, deodorant, hair gel, shaving cream, razors (which are the cheap kind, so I still recommend bringing your own), and mouth wash! There is also plenty or mirror and counter space to use, including individual beauty stations.
The main gym is fantastic. It's supplied with all of the latest machines, is very spacious (I hate feeling crowded!), and has big windows looking out that bring in natural light. They have a very nice stretching area where the floor is soft, and the cardio area is plentiful with machines and has many flat screen TVs to watch on various channels. Every time I've been there so far, there were always machines available.
They have 4 separate rooms for designated classes. One large mirrored room with high ceilings for the various studio classes, a spinning room, a yoga room, and a pilates room, which costs extra to use (it requires a trainer, I believe).
The yoga room is especially breathtaking....soundproof and serene, away from all the chaos, a true place to escape. It even smells like eucalyptus! The first time I went for a yoga session, I brought my own mat, but I was very impressed to see that most people used the mats provided, and now I see why. I've always been grossed out by provided gym mats, but these were incredibly clean. After the class, the yoga instructor asked everyone to leave their mats so that they can be cleaned!
The classes have been exceptional so far. A wide variety, and a lot of fun. And of course, very effective.
Equinox also offers an online feature where you can track and log your workouts and book classes. The only class you're required to book beforehand is the spin class, however, and I haven't had a problem getting a spot in the others.
When you sign up, they also give you a lot of great perks, like a free session with a personal trainer to get you started, and a discount on your first purchase in the shop (which is divine, if you're into the high-end workout wear).
There is also a lovely spa in the back where you can get massages & such. (At an extra cost, of course)
Lastly, they have a small food/smoothie bar. I haven't bought anything yet, but they have some free samples that were delicious, so I am already a fan.
This gym is pricey, sure, but to me, it's worth the money.
