I accidentally left my ring in the locker room, and the manager was incredibly kind, personally checking the lockers and later calling me to say it had been found. Jose discovered it while handling towels and made sure it was returned safely. I’m very grateful for their honesty and outstanding service!

This review is dedicated to Jessica Chen!
I can’t say enough good things about Jessica’s Athletic stretching class at Equinox. What started as just trying something new has turned into one of the most healing and uplifting parts of my week.
As the sessions went on, I started noticing parts of my body opening up in ways I had never paid attention to before. The stiffness in my shoulders and back, the heaviness in my legs, all of it began to melt away. My body felt lighter, and when my body felt lighter, so did my mood. Every time I walked out of class, I left with more energy, more positivity, and a brighter outlook for the rest of the day.
What makes the class so special is Jessica’s incredible guidance. She pays close attention to each student, making sure we are moving safely while also helping us discover new things about what our bodies are truly capable of. Because of that, I don’t just attend this class, I look forward to it every week. It has truly become one of the most valuable and healing parts of my routine.
Right now, the class is held twice a week, but honestly, I wish it were offered at least three times. That’s how impactful it has been for me. I can even imagine her being an awesome meditation instructor for the meditation classes! (It’s really disappointing that the manager decided to remove this class without any notice, especially since it was one of the main reasons I joined Equinox in the first place)
Thank you Jessica for being amazing!! I wish you had more classes here at PV equinox!!

I've been a member here for almost 2 years. I really appreciate the cleanliness, the staff are always on top of it. It's not as crowded as other equinox gyms, which is great. The staff is always friendly. The steam room is a great benefit to relax after a long day or good work out. This gym is much better than any other commercial gym! Especially if you don't want to to be around all the muscle heads. But they do have the top of the line workout equipment for sure.

Ava Moreno at Equinox is the epitome of performative wellness—preaching love, light, and inclusivity while exuding the warmth of a stainless steel fridge. I arrived a few minutes late to her so-called “relaxation crystal bowl” class...late only because I was, quite literally, saving a child's life. No exaggeration. When I rushed in, still shaken but relieved, Ava didn’t ask, didn’t listen, didn’t care. She cut me off coldly with a robotic, “For the safety of our people, we cannot allow entrance.” Safety? It’s not a skydiving class, it’s people lying on the floor listening to bowls. Spare me.
Even more insulting: I’ve personally seen her let a white, blonde woman stroll in 20 minutes late, receive a glowing smile, and be ushered in like a VIP. No questions asked. But when it’s a brown-skinned Indian woman, someone who literally comes from the spiritual lineage that all this sound-healing rhetoric is culturally appropriated from... suddenly it’s a security hazard?
The hypocrisy is almost laughable. These Equinox instructors love to romanticize India and Hinduism when it fits their aesthetic— wearing bindis, chanting mantras they barely understand, and quoting the Gita in between their $15 green juices. But when faced with an actual Hindu, from a Brahmin family no less, preserving the tradition they’ve cherry-picked from? Suddenly, we’re treated like intruders.
Ava Moreno, if you’re going to gatekeep “healing spaces,” maybe take a moment to check whether it’s your own bias that needs clearing first. You don’t teach wellness... you cosplay it.

I’ve been a member of this club for many years and have always appreciated the facilities and atmosphere. However, over the past three years, I’ve noticed a significant decline in the quality of management.
The showers in the women’s section are frequently clogged. I’ve reported this issue to the front desk at least four times, yet it remains unresolved. Additionally, there have been problems with the tracking of personal training sessions—I lost two paid sessions and had to spend hours tracing back my card history and appointment confirmations to prove it.
It’s disappointing to see such a beautiful club now under what feels like unprofessional management. I sincerely hope that Equinox headquarters takes notice and takes corrective action. Without improvements, I fear more members will leave. The club charges a high premium, but currently, it is not delivering the level of service that justifies the cost—especially with strong competitors in the market.

Classes are extremely packed in the Main Room and members are expected to stager with other members and instructors do not assist in helping with the staggering process. Classes are filled over fire violation. Most instructors are too busy either looking at themselves in the mirror as they teach or too busy working out and members get angry or upset when a member tries to tell another member how to stager.
Yoga room is more spacious and yoga classes are good. Cycle classes are good too.

I’m writing this review with the hope that Equinox corporate takes immediate notice of the ongoing mismanagement at the Palos Verdes location. My experience has been disappointing and frankly unacceptable — especially considering the premium cost of membership.
I initially joined this gym specifically for access to the swimming pool, which was marketed as a core feature of the facility. However, within a month of enrolling, the pool went under construction for nearly 3–4 months. No clear explanation was provided, and to this day, it looks virtually unchanged. I heard from other members that the renovation was allegedly to fix the chlorine system.
Unfortunately, the chlorine levels remain dangerously high — something I have personally noticed and brought to the manager’s attention multiple times. Since using the pool, my skin has become irritated, dry, and itchy, and my hair has been damaged significantly. Despite these repeated concerns, she has shown zero accountability and has been entirely dismissive and uncooperative.
Additionally, I have raised another long-standing issue with her: the shower heads in the women’s locker room have extremely weak water pressure, making them practically unusable. This problem has persisted for months, and yet again, nothing has been done. It feels like member concerns are not taken seriously at all.
Lastly — and this may seem minor, but it reflects the overall neglect — the hair sprays provided in the locker room do not function at all. They don’t spray; they squirt. It’s unclear whether they’re just placed there for show, but it’s another example of the lack of attention to member experience.
To be absolutely clear: this review is directed toward the current manager. I have tried to communicate these issues respectfully and directly, and I am disappointed that I now have to escalate things publicly. Equinox, you either need to replace the manager at this location or ensure she begins doing her job.
I expect better from a brand that markets itself as a luxury fitness experience.

This is not the worst Equinox I have been to.
It is the worst gym.
Nothing is interesting about this place.
Staff extremely rude.
My wife and I are new to the area and we have been Equinox members for a long time.
Their attitude, especially the manager Jesse Gomez is such a turn off, not only I will never go to this gym, but my wife and I are going to quit Equinox altogether.
I should have checked other reviews before. Very consistent poor performance and Noone seems to care.

I am an obese woman (248 pounds right now) who joined equinox in December because my experiences at other gyms have been either irritating or plain unsafe. I was anxious to join such a nice gym because when I joined at 257 pounds, I didn’t/don't look like the average person at equinox. I was worried I would be looked down upon by people asking the same question I ask myself- how did she let herself get to 257 pounds? my experience has been totally different than I expected. everyone, from the staff to other gym goers, has been so nice. the personal trainer Julia I’ll be working with has been awesome and great at helping with realistic ideas. She understands that I don’t want to do crash dieting and intense working out, I want to lose the weight healthy so I don’t just gain it back in the future. (Like many obese people, I have lost and then regained the same darn 30-50 pounds soooo many times it’s embarrassing) I have also taken classes with Olivia the Pilates instructor and Nathan the yoga instructor. Today my class with Nathan was awesome because he was nice about helping me understand what to do. Aside from being obese I am also legally blind and have past injuries but even though I have some trouble with seeing and understanding the workouts, the instructors are nice if you need to do your own twist on the workouts/aren’t yet physically capable of doing something.
everything has been clean and nice every time I’ve gone here. towels and amenities all well stocked.. and while the kiehls being gone does kinda suck, the new products are also very nice and luxurious.

I had a membership for a year and a half and I cancelled it. Loved it in the beginning but wasn't a fan of the class options in comparison to other locations. The AC in the yoga room was ALWAYS broken. The kiehl's to grown alchemist quality was such a downgrade (although I know it's not the local PV gym's fault)...but something was also always wrong with the showers. There were only 1-2 showers that had high pressure. When I initially went, all the showers were good. I cancelled my membership because it just felt like all the little things we pay up for, have either been downgraded, not fixed, or not taken care of. The positive was that the staff was kind.

My experience was horrible to say the least!! Myles Brooks was very aggressive rude and homophobic towards me. He thought poking fun at my smaller build was funny? Which is kind of contradicting due to his job responsibility. I would like to speak to management / corporate about this alarming behavior immediately

Very disappointed, I recently tried Equinox Palos Verdes location coming from South Bay with SoCal access. Where to begin… The Palos Verdes location has far less amenities available to guests and the Equinox quality is severely diminished, not to mention the reduced business hours and rude training staff.
The gym is unusually warm (75F +) and the eucalyptus towels are barely cool. The steam room in the men’s locker room is very small, many times there are towels left lying on the floor, and one time one of the sinks was left running. The showers are nice but not nearly as spacious as other locations. There were also no razors available in the men’s locker room on several occasions.
Front desk staff were friendly and comforting, but the Training staff is a different story. I couldn’t help noticing several trainers glued to their phones while working with clients. I don’t pay for training but am aware of the pricing and this is incredibly unprofessional! Trainers and workers should be focused on their jobs and most importantly their clients, not their phones! I had two trainers try to aggressively sell me workout packages during my normal workout sessions without getting to know me, and I definitely would not pay for a trainer who is on their phone and not focused on their client!! Moon Kim was an exception and very nice to talk to, he is also the only one I didn’t see playing on their phone while working with clients!
The yoga studio is very nice and the instructors are high quality, typical of most Equinox locations. I don’t cycle but other members have said their class is very well taught. The pool is small but rarely used which is nice. One big plus of this gym is low wait times to get on a machine or other equipment.
Overall, very disappointed with my experiences at this location and it does not represent Equinox well. I would suggest anyone thinking about this location tour the South Bay location instead, you won’t regret it!

This review took me a while to write. I really tried to push it away as I’m not about spreading negativity. My motto is if you don’t like it, don’t say it. Writing this review though was some sort of a duty for me. I have membership for all So Cal clubs so you name it, I’ve been there. Very unfortunately, I happened to be in Palos verdes area on a Sat a few weeks back so I thought to myself to give this location a try. To this day, and as I’m writing this review, it makes me vomit what I saw… the locker room (women’s) was so filthy and dirty. Hair everywhere on the floor. At some point, I had to literally close my eyes (how sad) so I didn’t have to look down to see the floor filled with hair while dressing up and I thought to myself, if I don’t leave in the next 2 min, they are gonna deal with my throw up on the floor (this is how disgusting it was). The showers (I checked all I could) were 3 feet by 3 feet, no hook to hand your stuff and one would bump into the walls with the tiniest movements while showering. The yoga studio has such an unwelcoming vibe (the ceiling was like an industrial ceiling rather than a warm welcoming soothing vibe a yoga studio should have). The only thing that was worth a star (hence I gave one star) was the staff. They weren’t rude or anything. Thank god I don’t pay for this club only. I don’t understand how they are a part of Equinox clubs with this super low level of quality and standards. I felt obligated to share my experience here so hopefully they do something about the issues. Other equinox clubs shine from cleanness . It an amazing feeling to be at any of the clubs I’ve been to. This one though, was the first and last time for me.

Aug 21 update: after being fixed for a few days, the AC is broken for the 5th time. Notice a pattern?
August 15th update: the AC is broken for the 4th time.
The AC has been broken for over 9 weeks. The indoor temperatures are now routinely over 80 degrees when I'm there.
I was told by the regional manager TWICE over a span of a month that the AC was fixed. BOTH times it was not fixed. It is Still broken.
In my opinion, this gym is basically unusable at this point. I wonder if that's the "Luxury" experience they justify charging $200/month for

I witnessed my girlfriend cancel a membership in person. We made a trip to the gym just to do that. Her son went to confirm it was cancelled too. We just found a renewal charge, for another year-long commitment. This place is unprofessional. It preys on the Palos Verdes community, with unreasonably high fees and fraudulent hiccups in cancelling membership.

Been a member since 2018. They are starting to slip on maintenance. Today for the third time in 6 months, no razors in men's locker room. Also no q-tips. Sometimes when I complain they are able to restock on the spot, but today again (3rd time for razors)they said their supplier didn't deliver. There have also recently been times where no soap in the showers, no shaving foam, and had to wait on towels. There is a Target 100 yards away, so I suggested to the front desk they send someone over to get some supplies. This is an expensive gym so we shouldn't have to deal with this.

The AC has not worked for about 2-3 months, now with summer it’s getting even hotter inside the gym making it uncomfortable to workout.
For months they have been trying to fix it but never seems to actually get fixed. Parts taking too long or not getting approved by management seems to be the story.
I also don’t like the shorter hours and have to drive to Equinox South Bay to work out and have AC. Kinda ridiculous for the amount paid monthly, I hope this AC thing gets figured out already it’s been way too long

PV Equinox is a weird in between of great and terrible. There are so many nice things about the club like the layout, cleanliness, and the people who work there. On the opposite side, there are a lot of unpleasant things about the club like some subpar conditions, no enforcement of member standards, AND the people who work there . . .
The maintenance and cleaning staff does an amazing job of keeping the facility spotless and sanitized. So that's a major point in PV's favor. However, the management of the facility does not do their job to ensure the facility is taken care of. For example, as of late the air conditioning for the gym has been broken. They can't open any doors or windows, so the solution has been to put one large fan in front of the cardio equipment. That's the solution for a gym without air conditioning in California in the summer. Last I checked, this was supposed to be a five-star gym. You need air conditioning. Members are still paying full price and not getting a full experience. I'll also say that there are quite a few malfunctioning cardio machines that have been pointed out over the years that are still there, so . . . yeah.
In the interest of keeping this review as concise as possible, let's just get into talking about the people who work there next.
As mentioned, the maintenance and cleaning staff are awesome and hardworking. All the front desk/reception and shop people have always been amazing and friendly as well.
On the opposite side of the spectrum you have the "office people" -- the ones who give tours to new members and such. In general, most are people who are super nice to prospective members but never smile at current members--a lot of death glares and stone-cold looks. Would it kill them to say "hello" or give a smile/nod to people they pass? With the exception of Robin; they're really stuck-up, unpleasant people to have wandering around the club.
Management fall in that in-between area. There have been some crummy managers here and there have been some cool ones. They change periodically though. The fitness managers, however, have always been SUPER nice. A recent one named Lindsey was great; their new one Jen is also a delight.
Trainers also fall in the middle. There are some really kind, competent, solid people who work there like Aimee, Patrick, Yensil, and Hannah. Then there are some people with the personality equivalent of a wet cat like Nathan. And there are people like KRISTIE FOX, who (if I had their contact info) I would email Equinox corporate's legal team about because she is a lawsuit waiting to happen.
I have seen a lot of trainers come and go at this gym, and I don't know if Equinox has tenure like universities do so they can't get rid of her, but I've never seen someone at Equinox less qualified to work there than Kristie Fox. She just doesn't know what she's doing, and I cringe when I see her working with clients because they trust her and they have no idea how many physical injuries she's caused others because of her reckless programs that she doesn't tailor to individuals. Speaking just plainly--Kristie Fox is bad at her job and shouldn't work here.
So, to sum up, PV Equinox has some amazing aspects and amazing people, but some awful aspects and awful people. It is what it is. As long as you stay away from certain people though, it can be a decent experience most of the time.

They don't seem to understand that just because some of us are affluent they will charge a silly rates and we'll just say sure. It's not if we can afford it, it's whether the service has meaningful ROI. This is a $125 per month club, charging $75 per month more than they should. That's how I see it.

They have a right to enforced a mask mandate, a vaccine mandate, and a COVID test every week, just as I have a right to say what I think about it.
I didn’t complain when they increased the price, or wear masks, but this is the straw that broke the camel’s back.
Been coming here for over three years, sad to see it happen.
Same day I cancelled, found a gym that has no masks, no vaccine mandate, and no COVID testing. Glad they forced my hand with these more invasive restrictions. Hilarious you need to jump through all these hoops so you can lift some weight up and down.
I guess if you like sexualized imagery plastered all over the wall you’ll have a great time here?

It used to be a decent place. Not any more. The membership is oversold. There is a line for a shower. There is a line for hairdryers. The classes were overcrowded- now Equnox has a “polices and rules” that basically limit the access to the classes and are a true burden for members. There is deceptive advertising stating that there many classes available - however they limit the number of people that can attend the class. One needs first to “register” for the class to be able to attend it. Usually you can’t get in unless you are sitting on your phone waiting for “registration” to open and book the class. And the “rules” - one must check with Eqinox “policeman” to get into the class, if you miss three classes you can’t even book the future class for a month, can’t cancel the class when you want... It became a nonsense to be a member.
