Small gym focused on personal training and classes (this isn't really a place to come do a half hour on the treadmill). It's not a see-and-be-seen kind of place, but rather focused on keeping people strong, fit and healthy. Dion in particular is a great trainer.

I've been doing CrossFit for more than 7 years. I've been a member of 5 affiliates, and have dropped in to more than 30 gyms around the world. CrossFit is about community, positivity, and an inviting atmosphere to throw weights around in. CrossFit Los Altos is not a traditional CrossFit gym. I was a member here for more than a year. It is a class tucked into a small part of a larger personal training business - and it shows. The CrossFit class takes place in a tiny section of the building, and members are rebuked if they seem to interfere with the personal training in any way. You are often made to feel like an inconvenience to the gym. If you are looking for a traditional CrossFit experience, look elsewhere. On a positive note, the programming is good, and some of the coaches are really great. (Caution: one coach is an unfortunate combo of ego and insecurity and talks down to members instead of building them up.) If FIT took CrossFit seriously, arranged the facility to embrace CrossFit, and only gave classes to positive coaches, it would be great. But that isn't their primary business.

A terrific local resource for top notch personal training for all ages. I am a senior and must praise them in their ability to adapt a rigorous workout regimen while respecting the aging process. I see three separate trainers for half hour sessions each week. Hour sessions are more common.

In addition to the staff of great trainers, I have used Tony Dimaano (Agile Fitness) as a physical therapist three times with excellent results; Dr James Loconte is the only chiropractor I will ever see––he is a terrific body worker as well; and in massage therapy, Angelo dela Cruz and Miesha Watkins are both brilliant massage therapists whose massage modalities complement each other effectively. I have not participated in the CrossFit classes but know them to be very popular.

One of the most important factors to consider when choosing a crossfit gym is the coaches. Having the right coach can prevent a lot of injuries and pain. The coaches at FIT are well educated in fitness and they all compete. I travel a lot and I visit many cross fit gyms. I can comfortably say that the FIT coaches are some of the best coaches I have worked out with.

Another factor is the environment. Fit has a very friendly and inviting environment. everyone is welcomed and encouraged.

I love the holistic philosophy and the individualized approach of the trainers. A worthy investment in my health, fitness and well-being!!! I just started my second 12 week contract, and after years of being scared and sedentary ( due to a history of injuries, motor vehicle accidents, etc.), I feel like a whole new person, stronger every day, and committed to an active life. I appreciate the balanced approach of the owner and my trainers (Hien and Maggie). I am listening to my body and adapting exercises where needed, while still advancing toward my fitness goals and pushing myself safely. I highly recommend FIT!

Highly trained group that is very aware of physiology and thus easily modifies exercises/program to meet your needs/injuries etc. The only gym that has ever managed to get me to come back (for 10+ years now). They are not one size fits all but rather run the gamut and all are welcome: From the hard core gym rat to the busy professional or harassed parent who is simply trying to eke out an hour just to themselves. I've done 1:1 training, group training, classes and boot camp training. I have found that over the years, your schedule changes, what excites you changes & your body changes. They have always had something that fits.

These guys hit it out of the park on every pitch! Thom and Tracey know what they are talking about and really listened to me for about two hours and then emailed me a plan to help with five facets of wellness to focus on- surprisingly working out like a maniac did not even make the list. Everything they told me was based on evidence, no quackery her, and they gave me better advice in ten minutes than my MD has in the last ten years.

This review is for CrossFit Los Altos. I've never had a personal training session but everyone I see training looks happy.

I LOVE this gym because of the people and of course I get a great workout. The owners, trainers/coaches and members all really care about each others well-being. When I first started here a little over a year ago, I was intimidated to start at a new gym because I wasn't sure what to expect or the type of people to expect. I can still clearly remember how friendly and welcoming everyone was to me on my first day and not just the coaches but everyone.

On the fitness-side: All workouts are scalable and there are always alternatives if you're coming off an injury or just starting out. Every day/week is different so you don't get bored. We also track our performance so we can see how we've improved over time. There's also a wide range of fitness levels, some folks compete and many don't, no matter where you land in that spectrum, you're not alone.

The format of the classes:
warm up (run, row, etc)
mobility (foam rolling and whatnot)
Strength (lifting)
WOD (workout of the day)

I'm 76 years old and I worked with several trainers three days a week for about 12 years. All of the trainers were/are first class with certifications in personal training and other health related fields. These people really know what they are doing and how to get the most out of a workout. And they can tell when you are not at your best and tailor the workout to fit your daily condition. I cannot give FIT and the trainers enough stars! They believe in the old adage "use it or lose it" so they always kept me on my toes. Because of FIT I can keep up with men 20-30 years younger!

I have been attending CrossFit at the FIT gym for a little over a year now. Best investment I've made. The instructors take time to explain the WOD, demonstrate correct form and are very encouraging. The people who attend the CrossFit classes are a good mix of varying strengths and weaknesses, young to younger :-) What you put in is what you get out of it. I also like to keep track of my progress using the WODIFY app. I can check to see what my last weight or score and see if I can improve.
