The public needs to know that I had to cancel my membership with the Fitness 19 location in Rolling Hills Branch for the following reasons:
1- The management recycles and purifies the sewer water in their establishment for the people ( Customers) to take a shower with.
2-They don't use paper towels or toilet seat covers.
3-I lost most of my hair because of the mixed chemical sewer recycled water they use while showering.
4-The Sauna is not functioning properly and is making a lot of disturbing noises.
5-I made many complaints about these issues to the rude, crooked tattooed Darrel, who is supposedly the manager of this Fitness19, but he said "Take it or Leave it."
I signed up with the Equinox Fitness, where there are paper towels and toilet seat covers, and they use City water and not sewer recycled water for their customers to take a shower with.

Relatively new gym. Lots of equipment including machines, free weights and treadmills, etc. Generally very clean and consistently busy but I never have to wait for a bench or treadmill. I haven't tried their personal training yet. Always plenty of parking and easy to get in and out. It works for me.

I’ve been coming to this gym consistently for the past year, and I’ve truly enjoyed my time here. I’m only leaving because of a job relocation. Otherwise, I’d absolutely continue.

One of the things I appreciated most is that it is properly stocked with weights. I didn’t have to wait for equipment (or wait too long for equipment), and there’s a good amount of squat racks (6), benches (4), free weights, battle ropes, mats, and cardio machines. There’s also a good amount of open space for warming up, stretching, or cooling down.

The facility itself is clean and well-maintained, including the bathrooms. The lockers are spacious with shelves that make it easy to store shoes and other items, and they include built-in locks for temporary use. I also liked that there are mirrors throughout the gym to help check form during workouts. Appreciate the water bottle refill station as well.

It’s a good environment with people of all ages, balanced mix of genders, and different fitness levels, which adds to the positive vibe. Plus, the gym has plenty of TVs and plays good music—so even on days I forgot my AirPods, I still felt entertained and motivated.

I wish there were longer hours throughout the week, but hopefully in the future there will be.

Overall, it’s been a great gym experience. Highly recommend!

I travel frequently—almost every month—so I inquired about the possibility of freezing my membership while I’m out of town. I was told that freezing the membership was possible.
Based on my experience with other gyms, where the freeze typically begins on the date requested, I assumed the same policy applied here.

However, after completing my enrollment, I received an email explaining that the membership freeze is actually a billing freeze—meaning it can only take effect on the billing date, not on any selected day.

Had I known this in advance, I likely would have chosen a different gym that aligned better with my schedule. I hope the gym will consider providing clearer written documentation regarding policies like this during the sign-up process to avoid future misunderstandings.

They don’t spend money to install toilet paper holder. Told them so many times they completely ignore. The toilet paper just sitting there on top and no holder. So unsanitary!

First, I’d like to express my appreciation for the gym. The facility is excellent, the staff are friendly, and the members are respectful, which makes it a great environment overall.

However, I would like to bring to your attention a concern regarding the male janitor who works in the morning. It seems he may need additional training on how to respect members’ space while they are working out.

On one occasion, while I was exercising, he began cleaning the floor directly beside me and asked me to move from the area I was using. I politely asked if he could clean after I finished, explaining that I might slip and an accident could occur. Unfortunately, he ignored my request.

More recently, while I was doing my core work out , he started mopping around me again, seemingly unaware of my presence. Not only was this disruptive, but the strong chemical smell from the cleaning products was overwhelming and uncomfortable as I literally lying on my back.

I value the cleanliness of the gym and appreciate the efforts of your team, but I hope the management can address this matter to ensure a safe and respectful environment for all member

The place lacks air circulation and it's to warm work out. Some people are just inconsiderate. I had one guy take my stuff and set it aside when I just went to use the restroom for just a minute. No respect for others don't even workout just there to be there.

Recently moved into the area.. signed up for 3 day trial since it was a convenient location for me. Cancelled my memberships at two other gyms and joined this one! I came here this morning and was helped by a nice woman in the front when I was having issues understanding my billing. Turns out I had an old card I no longer use and just had to update my account with my new one. She had it all squared away within 5 minutes. joined this fitness center about 6 weeks ago. So far my experience has been excellent. All the machines are brand new. The place looks inviting. I joined the gym primarily to build muscle mass. I picked one trainer from a list of seven trainers based upon their bios. I struck the jackpot. The name of the personal trainer I picked is Martha Tziallas. Without any hesitation or exaggeration I give her a rating of five out of five. She is pleasant, patient, helpful and knowledgeable. She has set me on the right course. If you are looking for a personal trainer at this facility, I would strongly suggest you work with Martha. Best wishes.

Great new gym, very much a welcome addition to our area. Lisa was fantastic from day 1. I used to avoid gyms because of the attitudes of clients and staff but here the staff are very friendly and clientele polite. Feels very much like a community. Looking forward to getting started with personal training next!
Only drawback, which is a minor one, is that there's often a waiting line for the chest/pec fly machine. There's only two of them and they are very popular so often have to skip that part of my workout. Would love to see another couple of those fitted in.

I couldn't be more pleased with the Fitness 19 gym in Rolling Hills Estates. The manager, Lisa, and her team have created a friendly, helpful, and welcoming atmosphere. The membership is affordable. A big factor for me was that there was no contract. They are refreshingly transparent, and you feel like you're getting a fair deal. I've been to gyms before where, once they get your money, they move on to the next person, but not here. They are very approachable and will help to resolve any and all concerns. The gym equipment is high quality and brand new, with plenty of machines and free weights. I was given a free fitness test and training session with no hard sell. There are a lot of open areas and big windows on two sides, so you don't get that enclosed feeling you often find at a gym. The place is constantly being cleaned, and there's lots of parking. A great value.

I am very impressed with this new gym, Fitness19, in the PV /Rolling Hills area! I got the mailer early on in September and stopped by periodically to see how things were progressing cause I was not going to join a gym that was not open yet AND I wanted to be sure that before joining, it was a nice, new and in particular...CLEAN PLACE!!
I have been going there for about three months now and am VERY happy and actually building muscles :-)!
- equipment is new, fresh, cutting edge and well maintained. They had an issue with the hip abductor early on due to incorrect use. It was fixed quite quickly.
- initially they did not have paper towels in the bathroom and I personally hate the blow hand dryers. Again, next thing I know there are hand towels available in the bathroom.
-they have probably 8-10 Personal Trainers there that will take you through the machines as part of your orientation. This was very important for me because even though I used to use a lot of these machines years ago, I have not in a long time and many are totally new. My trainer was Martha Light. I chose her due to the really great educational background from UMASS Boston and her attitude toward fitness being for living a longer, happier and healthier life. I signed up for personal sessions and she is working with me gradually to maximize use of the sessions and my comfort with each exercise.
-the manager, Darrell, is very approachable and his attitude toward the place, his clients and the staff is fantastic. I approached him to commend the EXCELLENT cleaning crew staff. They are always there when I am there and I am impressed with the work ethic and thoroughness of all four of them. I don't know her name, but there is a woman amongst the crew and wow is she great at paying attention to every detail. I love that!
I have joined gym's in the past and am happy to be back and now using Fitness 19. To me, it is very much about your comfort level with the gym vibe but also HUGELY about the upkeep and cleanliness. I will stay here as long as Darrell keeps his great staff with their high standards!!

Ive never wanted to give somewhere I love a FAKE bad review before but I don't want to praise here too much and have it get busy!

I came in looking to get a gym a bit closer to home for my days off expecting a "It isn't great, but it is $19 a month" experience. Instead, I walked into the nicest gym Ive ever seen and within a week don't even want to go back to my old gym because of how much worse it is... Weights are always where they need to go, equipment is always clean, the AC is actually on and working all the time, it is just a great place to work out.

My only downside is the hours because I work 12 hour shifts, on weekends I can't go. That said though, everything else makes this an easy win for Fitness 19 for me.

I am so happy to have a gym membership with the impressive amenities of a sauna AND steam room at the affordable price that Fitness 19 - Palos Verdes offers. Nice gym but noise here during a fitness class is terrible. It was so loud I could not hear my own music with my earbuds. The gym sounded like a nightclub, music booming and thumping. It was super annoying.

They should build a soundproof classroom or use headphones for the class. Or at least turn the music down to a sensible volume.

I've waffled on whether this place lands more at 4 stars or 5, so I'll give it the 5 (considering the asking price) with a caveat:

The owners have really done a magnificent job with not only setting up a great gym, but putting the effort into making it the best. I can't think of any criticisms on them or their effort. Truly the best.

The negative comes with some of the clientele, which the owners have little control of. There's a couple weight stack slammers. Some who like to leave their weights cluttered in walkways. More than a few who don't re-rack their weights (but I noticed the owners hired people to rack during select hours to help out). And those who love to inch up to the dumbbell rack for their sets making it hard to grab weights. They're not really problems, just nuisances I didn't experience at Equinox. But is it ten times the price worth of nuisances? Absolutely not.

Make no mistake, this is a budget gym. There's no towel service. No marble in the bathrooms. No massage parlor. No yoga classes. But are you looking for a gym or a day spa? That's really about the extent of the difference. The value you get for your dues here is incredible.

Overall ambiance of the gym environment is clean and the equipment is relatively up to date. When this gym facility opened up, there was no disclosure about “premium memberships” just to use a steam sauna room that isn’t even warm when in use. When I asked the front desk today when was this new policy changed to making a service which should be included in the membership, the lady at the front desk stated that it has “always been that way” since this gym facility opened up. Why would I pay an additional $12 for a service that is poorly maintained and lack of awareness was brought to the gym members attention?… The sauna room has been unlocked until this week.

On a positive note, they have lots of good equipment to any taste and physical ability. I love their machines!

As of my knowledge, this gym was opened in December 2023 and the owners were rushing to open it before the year ends. And it is visible. For example, in shower cabins cold and hot faucets are mixed up. Some of the shower cabins miss soap boxes, in other water does not run at all, or they miss hooks.

Someone from reviewers mentioned bad ventilation. I would agree with that.

Since the pricing is attractive now, the gym is super crowded. There were lots of teen kids messing up with machines and other equipment. Sometimes, I wasn't able to use specific machines at all. They were always occupied.

So at this point, I would stay with my membership elsewhere and see what Fitness 19 could fix over the course of a few months.

Now that I’ve gone to the gym I’m enjoying it and pleased. I left a luxury gym so not fair to compare the two. Other comparable gyms are too far for me so this is a great option. So far my complaints would be the temperature of the sauna and steam rooms (not hot enough) and steam room has an unpleasant smell. The other thing is the music bring headphones. I know it’s hard to please everyone so I don’t expect that. But a middle ground would be nice.

Come on you 1 star people, if you want to blame anyone, blame the regulators at city hall (give them a 1 star).. oh yeah our regulators on high are immune, Please change your reviews to 5 stars because the owners are not to blame. If you should be dinging Fitness 19 for anything it's for having prices that are TOO LOW. Remember our choices before they came along, we had the result of a monopoly right here on the hill by way of over-priced Equinox ($200 for access to a gym, yeah right.. over my dead body), and super low end 24 Hour Fitness down the hill, where it's "take your chances" in more ways than one. I'd have preferred Bay Club come back and give us a premium club at a fair price, but in leu of that, We should all give a 5 star Kudos to the people at Fitness 19 for giving us choice (hurry before our overlords in Sacremento regulate that out of existance too) !
