If you break the rules and expect an employee to not do his job then you’re wrong . No locker room pictures of anyone else even yourself . Nobody has to baby you when you walk in or walk out. You want sympathy go to a beginner gym this gym is for mature adults who follow rules . That being said it’s a great place to grow

Golds Gym Beverly Center does not protect women in the gym. They allow men in the women's locker room despite many member objecting to this aggressive male in the bathroom.

Great staff, great owner. Always updating equipment. Stress free and very organized. Some of the people are dirty though. People take shits and or piss and dont bother washing their hands. NASTY. Go in the morning, much cleaner people. Pm time the people who are working out tend to be the dirty ones and treat the gym like shit. Anyways front desk staff are great. Welcoming by name, also the re-rack weights when the lazy people can't. Been to other golds gyms and im glad I am at this one.

I have never been to a golds before so I was excited to try this gym out. Turns out they teach zero people skills at the front desk. I was not greeted properly upon arrival (very awkward) and when I got the day pass, the workout was great! But the bald big dude at the front needs to chase his true passion because it’s clear it is not working at a gym. Very rude guy. I went to take a quick picture of myself after a workout (in an empty locker room) and instead of politely telling me there is a no picture policy at the gym, he escalates it and goes “Hey dude put your phone away or you’re gonna have to leave” like geez dude. Like I said learn how to talk better. I work at a gym myself and that is like the main thing that is pushed at my gym so this is just so awkward, management might need to re evaluate who they hire/how they train their employees.

Shout out to Vu, front desk associate who shows excellent customer service, hearing out recommendations from us fellow gym goers. Always on time and promptly opens the gym even a few minutes early for us that gym before work. Always keeping inventory stocked in the front and ensuring to greet everyone good morning. By far most welcoming staff I have met here yet. My husband and I wanted to show our appreciation to him and communicate to his supervisor in some way that the way he shows up does not go unnoticed. Thank you Vu for keep members like us coming back. We appreciate you!

I've been a member at this gym for over 7 years now. I will start by saying the equipment is the best in the area. The gym is a decent size, but when its busy...good luck finding a machine or any room to do anything. The front desk staff usually friendly. Majority of the time they just talk to each other or sit on their phones. I have seen management handle some things unethically, but it never affected me so I didn't think twice about it. Then my mom was injured. Not the gyms fault. She tripped over a mat someone left out and went face first into the ground. Multiple people came to help her. One of the gentleman even called 911 for her. She was gushing blood and my mom is in her 60s. Bless this man! Until someone who I later found out was the owner told the man to hang up thee phone because it was just a cut on her nose. However, he never asked me mom if she did or did not in fact want 911 to be called. The owner didn't offer to do anything. They never even asked her to make an incident report. Fast forward 6 days later when I am back in town, my mom fills me in on this and needless to say I am livid. She still hadn't been checked out because she wasn't sure if she should see her own doctor or not. She called the gym and asked for the insurance information and the manager's response was that he wasn't going to give it and her insurance will have to deal with their insurance or her attorney will have to call their attorney. Attorney? She called him back that day and explained that she just wants to see a doctor since she is still in pain. He said he was taking his lunch break and would call her back. So we both drove to the gym and asked to speak with him. Any question I asked I received the same answer, "I will call later with insurance information. You will have to talk to them." I asked why she wasn't asked to fill out an incident report he said his staffed filled it out. I asked to see it, got the insurance answer. I asked of this was how he always treated members who got hurt at his gym and got the same insurance answer. Then he said that he sent the incident report and surveillance to the insurance company today and they have what they need. Not 15 minutes after we left the gym and cancelled our memberships, he called my mom with their insurance infortmation. He also added that he thinks because of the Holidays they must be busy because he hasn't been able to speak with anyone. Oh but I thought you already spoke to them and gave them everything? I will not support a business like this EVER!

*responding to the owner's response

My mom did not decline. The owner said 911 wasn't needee because it was just a scratch. We have already talked to the witnesses. Also, it was another gym member who went to the front desk and asked for the first aid. When he did ask for it, the person at the front desk asked twice what it was before until he would actually give it to him. You can review surveillance that has no audio, but I have talked to almost everyone that was actually their and believe 4 people saying the same story over one person trying to make themselves look good.

Also, this should have all been taken care of the same day. An incident report signed by both my mom and the staff working should have been completed. If 911 was cancelled, my mom should have been asked if she still wanted to be seen by a doctor. Her rehab was for her total shoulder replacement surgery she had 6 months later and she made it known she was worried about this fall affecting her shoulder.

We can go back and forth all day, but your business should have handled things better and more professionally from the start. Then none of this would have been an issue.

So don’t get me wrong this’s a great gym, the equipment is top notch quality, the staff are great, the environment is very motivating to workout in because everyone there takes fitness seriously and is goal-driven. Great gym for lifters however the reason for my low rating is one flaw that leaves a bad taste in my mouth and that is the membership pricing and what you get for each option. Each membership option has the same privileges however the prices vary dep ending on which enrollment fee you pay ($99 enrollment = $32 per month, $49 enrollment = $35 per month, $19 enrollment = $39 per month with a $49 annual fee for each membership ). It’s a great gym so I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s pricey but this is absolute garbage because all of these membership options provide the same things which is access to the gym and travel card privileges, same exact amount for each. It’s ridiculous how none of these have guest privileges anymore. They had guest privileges on memberships until 2020 when the owner decided to take guest privileges away. We’re already paying so much and can’t have at least guest privileges on our memberships anymore?? Every other gym in Sacramento such as 24 hour, Crunch etc has guest privileges and this one used to but for some odd reason the owner decided to take the guest privileges away despite having us pay so much. It’s ridiculous. Save your money and take your business elsewhere until the owner decides to give members back what they deserve.

I came over from 12 hour fitness and I loved this gym in the beginning because despite it not being 24 hours the equipment beats any other gym in the Sacramento area. I consider myself an advanced lifter but the guys at this gym on another level and by that I mean enhanced. Not really a big deal to each their own but it’s just a different kind of atmosphere when you’re one of the few guys there that isn’t on enhancements. Nice gym, friendly staff. Downside is too many people for how small this gym is. This is why I stopped going here the first time , every time you turn around to use something someone’s on it or they are texting or talking to friends. Very overcrowded probably one of the smallest gym’s I’ve been to in California. You think with a name big name like “ Golds Gym “ it would be a lot Bigger? Not sure if I’m going to keep going here if this is how it ends up every time just way overcrowded then I'm going to go else where, no point in paying to go to a gym you can’t even workout at.

This is the best gym in Sacramento.

I've had memberships at CalFit, 24 hour fitness, Planet Fitness, cross fit gyms, and I've done the bay area health clubs as well. My membership is $35 per month and worth every penny. Here are the pros:

1. The machines

What's great about this gym is that the machines are new, well maintained, and in working order. Every machine has duplicates so you're rarely waiting for a machine.

2. It's clean

Unlike many other gyms this place is clean. The floors, the windows, the mirrors, even the locker rooms. This goes a long a way for me.

3. The people

Here the people really adhere to rules and gym etiquitte. The weights are re-racked, people wait their turn, and give others space. For the most part everyone is minding their own business and focused on their own workout.

The hours

4. They open early and stay open late. This is huge.

There is no pool or sauna, no group classes, or juice bar but if you want a solid gym with good equipment, this is the spot.

I am a caregiver and I have been taking my client to work out with his personal trainer. for the past 6 or 7 months - all I had to do was to sign my client in for his workout session. last week, a young man at the front desk stopped me while I was signing my client in, and wanted to know what my name was. I hesitant gave him my name. The exchange was rude, condescending, disrespectful - to say the least. But, I let it pass. The second time - which was today, while checking in with another attendant at the front desk, this same kid who hassled me the week before decided to raise his voice and ask me for my name again - while I was checking in with his colleague . The fact that he had to engage me while I am with his colleague trying to sign in made me a little upset I refused to give home my name. He got a hold of David - the gym manager and David - visibly upset, without asking questions began to sternly rebuke me - I told him several times - that he was visibly irritated - so I was not going to communicate or keep talking to him.

Her's my point:
1. I have no problem with a rule - but if a rule is going to be a rule - start enforcing from day one.
2. Teach your employees manners on how to address/talk to people. Condescension, rude gestures or telling someone they are going to lose their job is not helpfu.
3. If it is a rule - then it should be applied to everyone. I have never seen anyone come to this gym and have to repeat their name every time they come in.
4. This is a leadership problem- David should learn that customer service is key to leading a great busines. Even if there is a disgruntled customer- his employees need to be trained on how to handle such cases. He, David, as the manager- should find out what happened by asking the customer to explain before addressing the situation.
5. And finally David should not have been visibly upset without knowing the facts. He obviously only listened to his employee and dismissed any input from the customer

I give the guy at the front desk 0 ratings - for being rude and disrespectful.

I give David 0 for poor leadership and conflict resolution skills.

...........
David your statement that I have refused to check in at the front desk once a week for six or 7 months is not only a lie, but it also shows a deficiency in your leadership skills. As a business owner, this is something you should have heard of on day one and you should have sought to enforce the rule. But it never happened until today. So, I am certain that you're just trying to cover your leadership problems and shift blame.
By the way, adhering to this rule is not the problem. You don't even understand my problem. If you had taken the time to talk with me or ask me for an explanation, maybe you would have had clarity.
David, another lie in your comment is that I said,
"I don't have to sign in - because I've been coming for six months."
On the contrary
I never said that.
My point was - why was this my first time hearing about this - after coming into your gym for the past 6-7 months?

Let me make it abundantly clear again- I am not against following a rules at your gym. It's the manner in which your employee was addressing me - that is the problem. He was rude, condescending and respectful.
That is why I refused to give him my name today. Because last week he was very rude toward me. Today as well - dismissing me with hand gestures. Like I said, I was in the process of signing in with his colleague when he started interrupting me. And because he was rude towards me last week- I didn't want to deal with him again today.
So David when you approached me visibly upset scolding me - not even taking the time to hear what I had to say - I turned and walked away- saying you are upset - I'm going to walk away. And I did.
I do not remember raising my hand to you- if I did it was not mean spirited. You’re simply just trying to shift blame. Maybe- if you had taken a diff approach we would have come to an understanding.

Gyms management is against

MUAY THAI FIGHTERS AND KICKBOXERS
Manager Trevor told me if I want to use the kickboxing bag safely without shoes to go join a Muay Thai gym or kickboxing gym and this gym is for "bodybuilders" and no shoes Re allowed on the bag , witch puts people at huge risk for injury and puts the company at risk for law suite , also last time I checked that was called "discrimination" me and a few friends from my Muay Thai gym joined this gym to bulk up n put on some extra muscle for our fights but since we signed up we have getting nothing but harassment from the manager named Trevor every once else is really cool but this one guy seems to have it out for all the kickboxers and muay thai guys
For those of you who attend the gym your probably aware of the rule you must use shoes while using the kickboxing bag let me explain why this rule is putting everyone in danger and extreme high risk for injury and law suite , especially those who are untrained in kicking. When kicking a bag with shoes on, the rubber on the bottom of the shoe can often catch on the bag "vs gracely slipping off when barefoot" when making contact causing a over rotation of the heel and knee simultaneously causing a tear or often a dislocation in the knee. This is why at most kickboxing and Muay Thai schools there are big signs that say kicking bags with shoes are prohibited because this often happens especially when people are uneducated in proper hip rotation while kicking. This rule is putting people at risk and these body builders are completely ignorant to the risk

So many great workouts , memories, and friends made at Golds gym over the years.

Gold’s gym’s equipment has likely the best selection for most people - in a very wide radius. It’s clean inside, machines are all very well maintained and typically lubed well (something that is not the case at a ton of gyms), and you can count on there being lots of perfectly working cardio equipment.

New machines are been being added every few or handful of months, many of them in high demand with the times/trends (like Seal Row Bench, Pendulum squat, etc).

You usually don’t have to wait (long) for equipment. Many (perhaps most?) people are kind and understanding and are cool with others “working in” when asked respectfully.

I’ve been coming since they first opened nearly 10 years ago. David and Jerry, Ownership/management have done an excellent job at making this a reliable, great gym to train at for all of these years - always improving it via layout, machine selection, and by adding pieces of equipment like speciality handles and bars.

Though i live closer to several other gyms, I typically find myself always programming at least a few sessions per week at Golds gym, (especially for certain machines that the other gyms don’t have). Many times throughout the years, I’ve trained solely at Golds, despite having 3-4 other gym memberships running simultaneously. Unless I move out of the area, I’ll likely continue to stay at Golds Gym member for the foreseeable future!

Maybe you've heard that "Gold Gym is for serious bodybuilders." Let me simplify and explain it from the perspective of someone who isn't a serious bodybuilder. After visiting all the gyms in Citrus Heights, I ultimately chose Gold Gym.

Gold Gym isn't your average $10-20/month gym. With three types of memberships, it costs around $47/month as of March 2023. This pricing prevents overcrowding by high-schoolers who tend to monopolize equipment (unlike Crunch Fitness).
The gym is well-maintained, and they take vacuuming seriously (unlike 24-Hour Fitness). Not only is the gym equipped with a wide range of exercise machines, but you can also see that the annual fee is put towards maintenance and acquiring new equipment. For instance, I think they have 7 bench presses, so you usually can get one even during peak hours (unlike most other gyms).

All the pros and cons of Gold Gym can be attributed to the fact that it's designed for serious bodybuilders. But don't worry, this can work in your favor too. For example, while most other gyms close early on weekends, like at 7 pm, Gold Gym is open until 9 pm, eliminating the excuse of not being able to go to the gym or using the gym's closure as a reason to skip exercising.

As soon as entering, I saw the gym is filled with natural bodybuilders, …, uhum, I mean the images of natural bodybuilders from old days on the wall! Many people here are on steroids, and I've overheard them chatting about their experiences with steroids between workouts. However, I haven’t seen any roid rage, except someone whom I complimented his body. I shouldn’t have done that but nothing serious.

This gym receives a 5/5 rating for serious bodybuilders and a 4/5 rating for general fitness enthusiasts. Some suggestions for improvement are:
1) Please add 2.5 lbs of incremental dumbbells, like from 20 to 40 lbs. For natural people, a 5 lbs increment can be quite challenging, e.g., 5 lbs increase from 20 to 25 is equivalent to 25% getting stronger which does not happen easily. But 5 lbs in 50 lbs is only 10% increase.
2) Although gym etiquette in re-racking is very well established, these serious bodybuilders need to learn how to handle bathroom paper towels with both hands and not tear part of it and leave it on the ground. You can use the “broken windows theory” and for a period, and several times a day send staff to clean those ripped paper towels from the ground and post signs so that people stop the disorder.
3) I understand the logistics behind hiring a full-time personal trainer are complex, but it would be useful if the gym had at least somebody available to incorporate these fancy machines into someone’s program or correct our form, like per request on an hourly basis (idk).

I highly recommend other general fitness enthusiasts join this gym and contribute to making it more inclusive. If you’re new, ask for adding 2.5 incremental dumbbells, do not tear paper towels to leave the tore part on the bathroom ground, and if you want to do 30 minutes of cardio in summer but can’t tolerate sweating, ask the front desk to turn the cardio room fans ON.

I had a positive experience at this Gold's Gym location; however, I was disappointed to learn that they no longer partner with Active and Fit for gym passes. While there are numerous other Gold's Gym locations outside of this location that do accept Active and Fit, this particular location does not. I learned this during my workout when the receptionist informed me 45 minutes into my session. While I was already warmed up and had no choice but to pay for my workout, I hope the gym management will consider reinstating their partnership with Active and Fit or offer alternative options for those with gym passes. Overall, I enjoyed my workout at the gym but was disappointed by the lack of flexibility with their payment options.

NOT A FAMILY FRIENDLY ESTABLISHMENT. My son is homeschooled and the staff demanded a school ID to workout. I explained he was homeschooled and does not go to traditional school therefore does not have a school ID. My son who is 14 meets a friend here to workout once a week ( I pay for a day pass $15 ). The staff also told me that unless I’m working out I can’t even wait in the waiting area for my son. This week I brought my daughter with me to do homework in the car while we wait for my son and the staff told me my 12 year old daughter is not allowed in the facility. When she tried to use the restroom I was told she couldn't because she was 12. Pretty sad when they won’t let a little girl use a restroom.

We have traveled to almost every state in the US and have gone to dozens of gyms and this is by far the most unfriendly gym I have ever encountered in my opinion.
.
We have 5 gym memberships in Northern California and I’m thankful this is not one of them.

**RESPONSE TO OWNER**
The staff did not give me the option to provide a birth certificate. I have paid for a day pass every time we were at this facility. The gym owner states that the gym does not have a waiting area., but I consider the reception area a common area/waiting area, which is not part of the equipment area. I would have been happy waited there and would have not entered the equipment area, but just watched through the windows. Your staff asked if I was going to work out and I responded no, so they told me I could not be in the facility. I was never given the option to pay the day pass fee of 15 dollars to watch my son from the gym floor. I would have done that if given the option. When we arrived my daughter had to go to the restroom and I did stop at the front desk to check in as she walked to the restroom. When your staff asked the age of my daughter I stated she was 12 and he told me she could not be in the equipment area. I told the staff she was going to use the restroom and not be on the equipment floor or workout. The staff then told me well because she is 12 she cant even use the restroom. So I immediately told my son to go retrieve my daughter. So she did not use the restroom as she was headed back there and my son texted her that she needed to come out because she could not use the restroom. She did make it to the restroom, but didn't go because your staff told me she couldn't. So I did take immediate action to retrieve my daughter by sending my son to get her. DEFLECTING BLAME AND TRYING TO PAINT A CUSTOMER AS NON COMPLIANT IS REDICOULOUS. There is no signage stating someone under the age of 13 who is there with a paying customer can not use your restroom. The only part of your response I do agree with is your assertation that its for the best we don't have a membership here.

Hands down best gym in the 916, if you don’t agree then your priorities got mixed up somewhere along the way. Excellent equipment, good gym etiquette (everyone puts back their weights), and the staff are amazing. 95% of the people who show up put in the work, so if you’re slacking then you’ll feel out of place for sure. Good overall environment.

Ashley (front desk) even hooked it up twice by giving me a jump start because I forget to turn my lights off in my car.

It’s a cool gym! Only lacking diversity to some degree, but hey that is to be expected because of its location. It’s clean, and have all the equipment you’ll need for bodybuilding! The employees whom work the front desk Eddy and Martha are extremely friendly and cool(if they both still work there). Now the others, not so much! It is a good gym based upon what it has to offer. Although, I’m not sure if I’ll ever want to go back there again. But if I ever do, it’ll be because of Eddy(believe I’m spelling his name right)and Martha!!!!!!!!!😃😃

The facility is excellent, but do not sign up for a trainer! You must sign a 12 month contract and pay up front. If you don't use all your sessions within 16 months, you lose out. Also, there is no guarantee. If you change your mind, you will not get refunded. You can get all you need by watching videos on YouTube for free.

I love this gym. Their equipment is in great shape and quality. I rarely see broken machines like the other gyms I have been to. The atmosphere is more intense which helps motivate me to do better. I love how everyone puts their weights and attachments back when they are done and wipe everything down. Masks are worn at all times unless you’re doing cardio then you can pull it down to reveal your nose. I feel safe and comfortable here- no creeps I must add as opposed to Excel, Cal Fit, and Fitness 19 where men would follow me around the gym, to my car, and even home. This environment is welcoming and friendly.

Awesome gym! Love the environment, the awesome gym equipment, the fact that no matter how many people are clocked in, there is still SO MUCH ROOM and no one is packed in! I did a a day pass and after that i was hooked. I drive almost every day 30+ minutes for this gym, that's how good it is. Old school gym, love it.

Just joined. Friendly staff, very welcoming. Super clean (seems even the patrons take more pride in keeping the gym as it should be, organized and safe) doesn't feel like a daycare as many other gyms have immature patrons. Here they rerack their weights, refrain from dangerous activities and all around Etiquette. Highly recommend

Great gym. Here's a waffle recipe:

Ingredients 250g Flour (plain)
7g Baking powder
20g Caster sugar
5g Salt
475ml Milk
2 Eggs
30ml Vegetable oil

Method

•Weigh all the dry ingredients, place in a large mixing bowl. Break the eggs into the milk and beat the mixture.

•Add the egg and milk mixture to the dry ingredients. Add the oil and mix all ingredients together until all the large lumps have been broken up. Do not over mix otherwise the waffles will be heavy when cooked.

•Pre heat the waffle maker and spray with oil (1 cal spray works well).

•Pour 3/4 of a cup of batter into the waffle maker and cook for 3-4 mins or until golden brown and crispy on the outside.

•Serve hot with maple syrup. Also good served with sliced banana or blueberries.

•Cooked waffles can be frozen and heated up in the toaster. Unused batter mixture can be kept in a container in the fridge for up to 2 days.

This is one of the better gyms in the Sacramento/Roseville region. The equipment is clean and nice. People are nice and respectful, they are all there to work out and not chatter like other gyms. The monthly membership aren't bad either. I figured places like lifetime fitness charges $100+ a month for the same equipment, if you're serious about working out and don't need a built in salon go here.

In relation to the gyms around this area, this gym is absolutely PERFECT for me. The staff are nice and easy to talk to and ask questions and the weight floor is full of equipment! They have nearly a dozen benches that you can move around as you wish (compared to Cal Fam Fit which only has 4) and they are the ONLY place that I've found near Roseville that had more than 3 power racks (They have 5!). This place is for serious lifters and that was exactly the environment I wanted to find.

The people are nice and I've only had positive experiences with the people in my short 2 month membership of this gym. I could ask other members questions about equipment and they'd often be more than happy to help.

Sure this place doesn't have a sauna or a pool but they have absolutely everything that you need to change yourself for the better. If I find that i'm in need of a gym again down the line, I will be sure to pick this Gold's Gym over anything else in the area.

This gym had so much potential but after signing up my girlfriend and I quickly starting realizing we were lucky to have signed up with the one cool staff member named Brandon. Everyone else especially some guy named Joe and the manager or owner named David are complete douchebags. My girlfriend and I had gotten used to the unfriendly way that the staff was when you check in and leave by not knowing how to say good morning or bye even though we tried countless times. We decided to just ignore that Joe guy in the mornings to not let him ruin our workouts but then one day this guy had the audacity to approach us in an aggressive and confrontational manner over a parking space which apparently was supposed to be for motorcycles only even though it wasn't marked and numerous other vehicles parked there all the time. He continued by reprimanding us as if we were children and went on to say that he had warned us already when neither my girlfriend nor I had ever been talked to about any off limit parking spot. I tried explaining to Joe that he must be confusing us with someone else but he just kept wanting to argue so rather than lowering ourselves to his level we tried leaving and taking up the matter with a manager thinking he was probably better trained in customer service and conflict resolution. Needless to say the guy (David) who contacted us back was just as bad by completely fabricating the facts and turning the story and blame around by saying he had verified with another staff member who was supposedly working there that day and said we were the aggressors and Joe was merely trying to explain to us in a calm tone that we weren't allowed to park there. I know this is complete BS because there was no female staff member working there that day. I never thought for a split second that we would've received such a horrible response to our complaint about Joe. Our thoughts were that a good manager would apologize to the members and try to work on training his staff better. David and Joe must be friends or family or something because I can't explain it any other way. Stay away from this gym unless you want to have to deal with rude staff members and managers.

I have to say, it’s a really nice gym. Very nice equipment and double machines. Me and my boyfriend were members here for about a month. I really liked going here. I have to say, I didn’t like that the rude/ steroid user guys that would stare at you while you were working out. It made me and my boyfriend uncomfortable many times. I also want to complain about the management and a couple staff members. I was very disappointed when me and my significant other were confronted by an employee. He approached me aggressively and scared me a little bit. He told us that we couldn’t park in the “non marked bike parking”. Which clearly, it ISNT marked. Some of the morning staff are utterly horrible and have terrible attitudes. They aren’t friendly whatsoever and are rude. They are unfriendly and it’s honestly annoying. I hated walking by them on my way into the gym, to do my early morning workouts. I got my money back but, I would NOT recommend coming here. Horrible staff and management.

Front desk understood right away how badly I needed to throw some weights around. After searching the area for a decently priced gym, low enrollment and no haggling with pricing until I at least explored the gym. I was offered a 3 day pass to explore and try a class. So I worked out and signed up right after because I appreciated the efforts made on behalf of the gym. Great atmosphere and motivated folks who are there to work out! Thank you Golds
