I go to this gym on Saturday mornings for their Step and Zumba classes. This is definitely my preferred gym because of the availability of both these classes back to back on Sat. Both instructors are excellent. This gym is huge and has a variety of equipment all laid out on one floor is great. The front staff is always very friendly and professional.

After 2 months trying to take my money back they didn't complete the payment. I went to this place to walk trough for my wife's. The manager told me that they had "promotion" $1 trial for 5 days. I never use this, 5 days after I went and cancel it, and they charged me a full month and now they are saying that my check was sent trough mail box. I never received anything and can't give 0 starts. Old equipment, bad and dark place, super expensive based on my walk through, never recovered. NOT A GOOD GYM AT ALL.

I've been going to In-Shape for a few years now, and I would have never reached any of my goals without my weekly personal training with Craig Wasley. Before going to training I had pain from previous shoulder injuries and c-section surgeries. After sticking to Craig's training plans and routines I'm able to do exercises that I couldn't before. My pelvic floor is stronger and my muscle mass has gone up over 10%. I was able to work out over 300 days last year and almost the same this year and I have the most muscle I've ever had at 40 years old. Craig is an invaluable asset and has changed the way I see my health and fitness.

We've been asking the staff for a long time to clean the bottom of the pool regularly. There's a special vacuum device and their answer is: " Ohh there is a third party who is doing that a third party, a third party". Who care third party or not? Just clean it please.
I see so much garbage on the bottom of the pool like bandage, chewing gum, send, I saw brokenglass the other day. Come on guys, clean the bottom of the pool, regularly please. Thank you.

It was much better when it was California family fitness. I was long time member at Cal Family Fitness I'm not impressed with the change to in shape. I don't like the people that work there. The best thing about this gym seemed to be the swimming pool and places for kids to play while at the gym. However, despite how large the gym was, they didn't seem to have the space I needed for my exercises. The only spot this gym had to lay on a mat was overtaken by a class at the time I came to check this location out and even then wouldn't be comfortable to lay and stretch or toss a medicine ball around.

I find it very strange this place deleted my review or had it deleted. Must have hit home. 🤣. Anyway I highly advise to not use the Sunrise and Zinfindale. My two biggest complaints is they can not keep kids care staffed to an adequate amount of people. Very unsafe and inconvenient. I refuse to leave my kid somewhere that can not staff the kids care.

To another HUGE issue. The cardio equipment is horrible and managment just makes false promises. About six months back I was told they bought new equipment but waiting to put it in. Sounds good. Reminds me of a slimey car salesmen.

It used to be well kept with polite staff. Some new staff are unwelcoming, if not rude. The doors at the entrance to the gym are difficult to open. The tv channels are more limited on the equipment than other gyms. Again, they used to have more channel selections but they’ve let that dwindle. Sometimes, on Sundays, the antibacterial wipes are not replenished. It’s pricey to pay for each month. It used to more of a value when it had bonus features. Now it’s simply the same type of gym you can get elsewhere at 1/3 the price.

A huge shoutout to Alec and DJ - they were absolutely fantastic! Their energy and expertise made my workout exceptional.

And what a lovely touch - the beautiful balloons set up for the Preview Day event added a wonderful ambiance to the space.

I really enjoy the variety of equipment and SPACE at In-Shape Citrus Heights. (Some places the machines are too close together.) The pool, spa and steam room are excellent options to have access to either after working out or for aqua classes and therapeutic soaks. There is also a beautiful aerobic/dance studio area, spin room, free weights area and racquetball courts. Such a great variety of ways to stay active!

How in the world does this gym close at 9pm on a thursday????? If these in-shape gyms continue to close this early,might have to close membership. Family fitness used to work till midnight prior to covid. I was told it was due to "corporate" reasons. Maybe the customer should come first. If you are thinking of signing up, go somewhere else.

I left a five star previously on here. I am currently editing it since the In-Shape buyout of CalFit. The employees have changed and the entire experience has degraded for me personally. I have switched membership to Lifetime. In-shape closes at 7 PM on weekends! On the day that most people have extra time in the day to relax & take care of themselves they close earlier? I won’t change my rating until those hours change. This is a common complaint I heard consistently from many members & they still don’t change it. Change the hours & I’ll change the review.

I used to love coming to this gym since I became a member in 2022. But once they did the switch over in December of 2023 I recently found out the lady who was in charge of sales, Miriam. Scammed me, she signed me up for the perferred choice so I was able to bring in a guest each time I went myself. I went to my cal fit (in shape now) earlier this month with my first guest of the year just to be told by the new receptionist that I did not have those privileges anymore due to the switch? I don’t understand how this could even be possible since I have been a member for almost 2 years and I never had any issues prior to this. This sounds very unethical on her part and I’m highly disappointed in this company now. I had to pay for my guest to come in at the time I was told I didn’t have access to my past account features. I spoke with the lady at the counter and she couldn’t fix this issue for me. I was also told that the last sales representative who helped me purchase my package would do anything to meet her quota and because of that it was at my expense. This is not the business I thought I was supporting. I expected a lot more from such a well known reputable company.

Facility is nice. They were very helpful and attentive when we first signed up, but since then cannot seem to get help whenever I reach out. I got a call about a new membership meeting and was on vacation so scheduled a call back and they never called back. Tried to talk to them about it in the office and they said id get a call which I never did. I am always told to just use the app whenever I need something. When the switch to in shape, I lost connection with the app so I tried calling them and again was directed to the app, which is frustrating. Good facility, not happy with customer service, so for the price I'll go back to a cheaper place with the same equipment, better hours, and more classes.

We have been members of calfit for years. We are normal early morning people. Johnny P is the best he’s literally the only employee in all the years we have worked out at calfit that stands out. He’s always happy and helpful. He smiles even at 5am. He always talks to us and makes us feel welcome. He stands out compared to the rest. He deserves a raise for sure! Location is great but closing at 5pm on Saturday and Sunday seems not fair to the customer. The price they charge for the membership is premium but the hours does not reflect that. Also closing at 7 pm on Fridays is to early. I get off from work at 630pm and can’t go because they are closed. I asked management about the hours and was told there is nothing they could do. As assistant general manager, He showed that he is willing to help when there is a challenge before him. He calmed a situation down, that was a little tense despite me being frustrated as I showed towards him. He continued calmly working with me. This assistant manager has true passion for his position and his employees. He, with no doubt would be a great asset of being ''General manager," as he has much appreciation for his position. This is a prime example of how to make all members and guest feel welcome.

With recent changes with the gym becoming 'In-shape family fitness' I'm used to the old ways of checking in with a membership card. I am not very tech savvy using an app on my phone. With the help of Eric general manager in Orangevale and DJ, were able to keep being able to sign in via gym membership card.

As I was very adamant, My hope was not only to help myself in this position, but others that might have the same challenge using technology to be able to access the gym easily. Many reasons why its always good to keep this option open to access using a gym membership card. Things can go wrong.

Simply put, I'm glad this location has made the change of how people can sign in which is what I pushing for basically too keep the same. This change covers all of the locations. This couldn't have been done without the help of DJ (Assistant General Manager, Citrus Heights) and Eric (General Manager, Orangevale.)

I enjoy the openness and the layout of the Citrus Heights location. There is plenty of space so that you don't feel like you are working out on top of others. My kids and I enjoy the courts and the pool together. It is nice to be able to workout and also play as a family. THEY ARE THIEVES!
I signed up for their month to month contract they recently promoted and after the first month, I decided I wanted to cancel. They charged me for another month a week after I cancelled and said it is in the fine print (section 9) that the “early cancellation fee” is not waived. I called corporate and they were nonchalant and stated that I should have read the contract thoroughly and it’s on me that I did not read that section. When I signed up the sales lady told me that there were no fees to cancel and I can cancel anytime. I went back to the sales lady and told her what is going on and she said “it’s not actually month to month for one month, we wouldn’t make any money that way”. What? Isn’t that what month to month means???
So, they basically stole $115 from me, lied and they do not care one bit! I grew up going to cal fit and after this, I will NEVER be back and I am getting my friends and family to cancel as well and go somewhere where honesty and customer care is their top priority.

Villa Sport will happily enforce that I too get to enjoy my work out. Had a giant man shouting on speaker phone while in the hot tub. Asked the attendant why cell phone rules aren’t enforced. It is ridiculous I pay over 100$ a month and they close at 9 they need to fix there hours specialy in summer time sun sets at 9 and they close at 9. The other locations all close at least 10 pm

Worst customer service ever. Upped my membership fees without telling me. Staff doesn’t know how to keep card information on file. Have been told my accounts past due multiple times (after 30 days) due to them not saving correct payment information even though I’m there multiple times a week. Why would you not say something RIGHT AWAY. frustrated and corporate wouldn’t do anything about it. Canceled membership.

Been back at this gym for a few months after they had been closed for quite some time during covid last year. Cell phone usage on the floor was fairly rare before they closed and against facility policy, but since I've been back it's almost daily. I can be 4 rows away from someone using their cell phone and can still hear them over my headphones, which is extremely irritating. Unfortunately for me it's like nails on a chalkboard, It's drowns out what I am listening to. Today's cell user was extremely loud and 10 minutes into my workout I left. Several others left and I could tell by the looks and shaking of heads for the same reason. On my way out I complained to the front desk and requested to have signs put up. I was told "we no longer have a policy restricting cell phone usage because phones are too rampant". Not the answer I was looking for, but I am looking for a new gym!!

I have been coming to this club every morning since December. Garret the front desk kid is so kind and knowledgeable. Every morning he greets everyone who walks in that door with a smile. The simple, “how is your morning going?” Or “enjoy your workout!” Makes for a great day.

This gym is awesome ,been going here for a year but there are these three triplet blonde things that go here. They are so annoying, they are loud, obnoxious and horrendous to look at. Within the year ive been here they still look the same too. Im always here around 5am and they just always have some negative stuff coming out of there mouth and dirty eye glares. We go to the gym to better ourselves and i thought California family fitness is for that but keeping these types of people here take that from that experience. I believe there should be consequences for such actions and thats why Im giving this place a two star rating.

When we signed up they did it via tablet, she NEVER handed us the tablet, RUSHED THE ENTIRE PROCESS and only gave it to us to initial and sign. She seemed to cover everything major EXCEPT the early termination fee of $300. I hate this place and will steer everyone I know from signing up. Shady move CFF.

As a former employee i know all the cancel policies yet have still been unable to cancel due to having emails ignored and having to wait over 15 minutes in club to speak to a manager.

I tried to ask about cancel and freezing before COVID closure and 2 emails were ignored and 1 in person drop by was not handled. Now I have been charged for a gym I can't effectively use just because they put a few pieces of equipment outside.

I tried calling my club today and received no answer, this is 4 attempts of ignored communication, 2 prior to COVID closure an email after reopening was announced and now a phone call after being charged again.
