Great environment to work out at. As someone who uses the pool, it's a shame to be pushed out of lanes by the swim teachers. When I directed the issue a while back to the manager at the time, she instructed me to "find another gym". Definitely a disappointing response from a manager. Other than her response, the staff is very friendly.

I was super excited to finally be able to start a membership at LA FITNESS. I was immediately greeted seconds before I fully walked in by Nabie. She was very knowledgeable in my unique situation and was able to immediately respond and helped me get enrolled in a timely manner. I was also able to walk the whole facility and I’m truly happy to become apart of my local community of people who are on the right track to one’s goals and health needs. I have been going there over 7 years. The place is very clean. All employees are very nice and helpful. Marco is a very hard worker. He cleans the place non-stop. He is very friendly. Pretty good setup but Do Not Like the bench press benches. They have an 1 inch lip on the rest poles that require a lift that for someone with shorter arms is awkward and creates stress on the shoulder joints.

This review is primarily on equipment.
Get rid of StarTrac free weight benches! They are absolutely terrible to work out on! There are 1 or 2 benches that are non-functional; benches that do not allow seating configuration. It's too high for comfort!

Alright, now that is out of the way. Let's discuss the overall gym experience. Plenty of equipment / machines to go around. As a matter of fact, more than La Habra could provide! The place is kept fairly clean and little to no trash on the floor or in between equipment. Staff I have met are fair, I currently have no issues or have little interaction with them as others do.

Overall, my experience is entirely different compared to others. Please replace those free weight benches!

My parents went to check out this gym because they were considering switching gyms. The front desk person was incredibly rude and did not even let them look inside. Went to the Aqua class at 6pm. The front desk girl has been helping me since it was the last year since I came back. The locker room was nice and clean. The water was finally at a good temp, last year it was always cold. That's why I stopped going. It hurts my arthritis. Let's see if it stays good this summer.

I went to the front desk to try to cancel my wife’s membership. The front desk attendant told me to sit down and that somebody was going to attend me. I noticed there were five LA fitness employees two at the front desk two at their desk, sitting down and one other on the computer I was waiting and nobody came up to me. Then I went to the front desk after 20 to 25 minutes to ask what the update is And the front desk person told me that all the person that could cancel just left .this is unacceptable. This was all before 5 PM. I don’t understand why the membership couldn’t be canceled.

If I could give zero stars, I absolutely would. My experience at the LA Fitness Whittier branch was beyond frustrating, all thanks to Melissa, the so-called manager. My visit was simple—I just needed to cancel my membership. She saw us, acknowledged our request, and then walked out to do a different task, leaving the front desk to "take our details" they told us we will get a cancellation email by 6pm
Nothing happened. No email, no confirmation—nothing. The next day, we called to follow up, and we were told she was "too busy". Seems like her only skill is avoiding responsibility.
Most unprofessional, careless, and downright ridiculous attitude I’ve ever encountered. Avoid dealing with her at all costs unless you enjoy being ignored and given the runaround.
LA Fitness, do better—your customers deserve actual leadership, not excuses.

LA fitness has changed my life for the better! I have been going here for nearly 3 years, averaging 8 to 10 visits a week. I workout with the aqua fit classes, run the stairs and the treadmills. At 71 years old, I am fit, have a robust immune system, And feel fantastic. The facility is clean, the staff is kind, helpful, and knowledgeable. The maintenance staff in particular do a wonderful job, keeping the dressing rooms, toilets, showers, and pool extremely clean. Administration listens to questions and concerns, and the staff at check-in are pleasant and attentive.

I’ve been going to this LA fitness on Whittier Boulevard for six months half the time they have no hot water they never get it fixed. They don’t seem to care about getting it fixed. I have been using LA Fitness personal training services for the past four months, and my experience has been incredibly frustrating. I was assigned a trainer who either cancels sessions frequently or does not provide me with a consistent schedule. Despite being charged regularly, I have seen no results due to the lack of regular and structured training.

This is not the first time I’ve had issues with personal trainers at LA Fitness—it’s my third trainer, and switching to a new one has proven to be unnecessarily difficult. I’ve reached out to the management about these issues, but they have been completely unresponsive and dismissive of my concerns.

As someone who takes their fitness goals seriously, this lack of professionalism and accountability is unacceptable. I expected a much higher standard of service from a well-known fitness brand like LA Fitness. Unfortunately, my experience has left me disappointed and questioning the value of the personal training program.

If you’re considering investing in personal training at LA Fitness, I urge you to reconsider. Without proper support, consistent scheduling, and responsive management, it’s just not worth the time, effort, or money.

This 5-Star review is a directed towards the AM maintenance staff at the Whittier, LA Fitness. For the past two years, I have attended this facility 5:00am-6:00am M-F, and occasionally on the weekends.

Having worked in the Management/Customer Service industry for many years, I know value of hardworking staff and feel the obligation to recognize this team for outstanding service. The male staff, Marco, and female (don't know her name yet) greets nearly every person in this gym with a smile. Their upbeat personality, attention to detail, and genuine work ethic is something that should be canned up, packaged, and fed to everyone of your team members in the LA Fitness Chain.

There have been numerous occasions when I see these two actively picking up trash, re-racking weights, sweeping and moping the floors, cleaning restrooms. Whats particularly impressive, is they do this like clock-work! I know exactly when they will start sweeping, moping, and making their rounds to keep the locker rooms and facilities clean. I make an effort to share my gratitude with them as I can, but I also know the value of public recognition. These two DESERVE it! Keep up the great work!

Extremely Disappointed - Untrustworthy and Rude Management

I am writing this review to warn others about the unacceptable practices at this gym. My boyfriend signed up for a membership and was charged automatically. Due to his busy schedule, he hardly used the facilities. With an upcoming two-month trip back home, he decided to cancel the membership upon expiration. However, to our shock, we were informed that the membership had been automatically renewed for another year without our consent, and there was no way to cancel it.

As students with limited funds, this unexpected expense is a significant burden. We approached the manager to explain our situation and request a cancellation. Unfortunately, the manager was incredibly rude and unhelpful, showing no empathy or willingness to assist us. Despite lengthy discussions, we were left with no resolution.

This experience has been deeply frustrating and disappointing. I strongly advise everyone to avoid this gym. Their unethical practices and poor customer service are simply unacceptable. Save your money and find a more trustworthy and professional place to work out.

On July 17, 2024, at approximately 16:30, having already received an email confirming my welcome and the activation of a three-day trial pass, I visited the gym to utilize the facilities.

Upon reviewing the terms and conditions of the pass, it was evident that there was no requirement for a prospective member to reside within five miles of the gym or to be a U.S. resident.

However, the manager on duty, who did not disclose his name, treated me with pronounced disdain, belittling me due to my Brazilian nationality and explicitly denying me access to the facilities.

He further stated that my only alternative would be to pay a daily fee of twenty dollars if I wished to use the gym.

I left the premises feeling humiliated. As a legal tourist in this country, I am entitled to be free from any form of discrimination, whether racial, ethnic, or otherwise. Such treatment is not only inconsistent with the gym’s own policies but also violates fundamental standards of decency and respect.

I cannot comment on the condition or services at the gym because I have not gotten past the poor customer service. On Monday 2-19-24, I walked to LAFitness from my house. I met with Leslie Reza who said my Silver and Fit gym membership had expired. I had not been since before the pandemic started. She reinstated me. At my request, Ms. Reza made an appointment for me on 2-21-24 with Elvin, a personal trainer. She asked me to leave a positive review if I had had a positive experience with her. I did initially have a positive experience.
On 2-21-24 I came for my appointment with Elvin Castro at 1130a. I was on time and checked in at the front desk. My appointment was noted, and the woman at the front desk asked me to have a seat to wait. At 1140a, the woman from the front desk came to the table where I was seated and said Elvin needed 15 more minutes and asked if it were ok. I said ok. At 1201p she said Elvin was on his way. At 1205p, which was 25 min later than 1140a, not 15 min. By then Mr. Castro was 35 min late for our appointment. I went to the front desk and spoke to a man named Angel and told him I needed to leave and that I'd like to make an appointment with someone else for personal training. No one called me back. Mr. Castro never called me to apologize for wasting my time. Subsequently, from 2-28-24 to 3-05-24, I left 3 messages for Leslie Reza to return my call. Ms. Reza returned my call after the second time I called her, but I missed her call. I called a third time, and she has not returned my call.

This use to be my favorite gym, but lately They have been allowing there male workers to clean the women’s lockers room/bathroom being fully aware there is women in the sauna partially clothed not to mention underage girls. The few times I visited during the week I was able to use all the machines I wanted. The gym itself is quite clean, cardio upstairs, machines down stairs, juice and smoothie spot for pre and post workouts
The members really take pride in their gym, everyone is nice and considerate about not hogging a machine and people actually sanitize it after. I don’t have to worry or strategize about my next move because they have an abundant number of machines are not hella busy.
La Fitness may cost more than the competitors but I personally feel that this gym is worth it.

I come here at various of the day during the week days, mornings @ 6am, late afternoons after 6pm, weekends during the morning/afternoon and every time there always seems to be a cycling class or someone is cleaning the cycling room after the class. Even after the cycling room is cleaned, there is always a sign that says its closed. which makes it very hard to use any of the cycling machines.

Side note, I only really notice the cycling room gets constantly cleaned but not the rest of the machines in the gym.

Additionally, I was finally able to use the cycling machines on Saturday 9/30/23 before the 9:15am class began. However, 45 minutes before the class had even begun, many of the machines were being saved with peoples towels and items. So it was limited to how many were available. As I found one that was empty, I began to work out. During my workout I saw that the instructor was the one saving the machines for people who consistently go to the class. Which is unfair to the other people like myself who want to use the machines. This shouldn't be allowed to do since there other paying members.

I have already made one complaint to the employees already. This is a growing frustration I have with this gym, hope something gets done about this as this is the closest and most convenient LA Fitness to me.

This review is for Tiffany C's yoga class. She teaches at other locations but I have only taken her class at Whittier.
I have been taking yoga classes for about 15-20 years at many different places. And let me tell you Tiffany C's class is comparable to classes that you'd get at expensive yoga studios. Trust me I've taken them and paid 100's of $$$ monthly for them. She comes up with a new sequence every month that challenges you and strengthens your body and mind. She is extremely knowledgeable about yoga and passionate about her students making progress. Her class is organized, well thought out and the flow is great.

I am a regular in her class and lucky to be able to attend the only class she offers in my area. I feel that she is extremely underrated and more people should look for her class and experience it.
I look forward to coming in to her class every week the times it was cancelled I just left. It's is by far the best yoga class of any LA Fitness instructor in my area. Thank you Tiffany C for putting something great out there for Yogi's like me.

Pretty decent size facility so no wonder on the weekends it’s usually busy but you can find a machine to use. The free weights are more crowded. I’m to fond of the treadmills being on the second floor because you can feel the vibrations so it’s like being on a bridge when a semi truck goes by. It is definitely something you have to get used to while running. The TVs don’t always work and if they do, you don’t get all the channels or the connection isn’t very good so you’ll have to find one that works.

This use to be my favorite gym for years this is my home gym. It’s sad I stopped going here because of there bag rule. I can’t have my bag on the floor. I need my gym bag because all my essentials are in there and I don’t like carrying it in my hand or have to walk back and forth from the locker rooms. It’s only this location that does this all other locations allow bags. It’s upsetting the manager and staff here walk around looking for bags and tells us to put it away. So I went to another location that does allow my bag on the floor 🙂

LA fitness in Whittier has everything you need to keep you in shape. Rather you want to do aerobics or work out by stretching on the mats or in a personal workout zone or just with dead weights and or machines, it's very inspiring to work among those who are serious about keeping fit.

Opening hours keep decreasing and they rent out their pool facility without notice. Been a member for decades, now I'm going to 24hr fitness for less and get more out of a gym.

Angel is terrible me and freinds bought memberships and still weren’t allowed in even after giving our parents signatures this is just terrible angel is a bad guy and he had the audacity to make us buy another membership just to go in. All these people want is money

This place is an unsecure property cars get stolen from here often management has cameras for what according to them they only stay stable. So why have cameras DONT WASTE YOUR TIME HERE

I like the environment overall but would really enjoy it if the turf section where you can individually work out in (i.e. do arm, core, or full body workouts) were larger as it often is a bit crowded.

I use to enjoy coming to the whittier la fitness but ever since the remodel it feels extra cramped. I didn't mind waiting 10-20 min to squat but now they got rid of the power rack to make room for a Smith machine which tends to get less use than the squat racks. I will most likely cancel my membership soon a soon as EOS gym opens up .

Whittier is a very small gym and it's always packed. There's only 1 row machine that everyone is always waiting for and 2 lat machines. It's just limited in equipment. Stay away 6-8:30 pm is your best bet. Other times are ok. If you're not trying to work a specific muscle group then I'm sure you'll at least find something else to do. They closed the Industry one so most of those people go there.
