I have been a member of Fitness 19 in Citrus Heights since the beginning in the early 2000s. I paid all the upfront fees to become lifetime membership status. This is a great neighborhood place to go.
This location was bought out by Lifestyle Gym in 2023. I was able to renew my membership last year with no problem. This year they are cutting long time customers loose and not accepting, grandfathering or working with long time members. Not once during my call with this location did they try to come to a compromise. I got an adamant NO.
As I went round and round with the manager on the phone I was trying to resolve my issue. He was reading from his script of NO and you as a customer are SOL. He kept changing his story during this conversation but always coming back to No. You as a customer are SOL. There was no chance he was interested in working with me as a long time member, his script was well rehearsed NO was most important. As I tried to get across that customers have value I realized that my words fell on deaf ears. Though the Manager was reading from a poorly written script he was just doing his job. Which in turn will lose another customer. So I am sad overall that I have to embark on another journey of finding another Gym in my area. This place has been my rock and sadly it has eroded.

ALL staff members are awesome here, super helpful and kind! All equipment needed for ANY type of fitness goals are available here. Not overly-crowded. Never experience wait-times for machines or benches and kept relatively clean and orderly. I went to this gym for over a year. And overall it was quite nice, small but for the most part it had everything I needed in terms of gym equipment. Staff was nice. Decently clean especially compared to something like 24 Hour Fitness, although the dumbbell variety was lacking. And like every gym, never enough bench-presses lol.
It was called Fitness 19 before, however it as acquired by Lifestyle last year. Despite them increasing the membership cost to even higher than 24 Hour (all while being a significantly smaller gym), almost no improvements were made. Due to the cost and wanting to try out another gym, I canceled my membership back in October of 2023. They make it very annoying to cancel though, you first gotta talk to/call the front desk, let them know you want to cancel. Then they send you an email, you email them back with the information needed and they then confirm your 30 day notice has been processed. All is well until this January, where I randomly see a $39.95 charge on my card from Lifestyle. I never renewed my membership.

This is extremely annoying and malicious. And from a lot of other reviews this happens more often than it should (which it never should). Very disappointed and hope this will be fixed, cause otherwise I can't really recommend the place if it's this dishonest.

I had cancelled my membership back in May because I knew I was moving to Nevada. Thought everything was settled until I realized a couple weeks ago that I was still being charged. They said I had never cancelled my account, I did. So I tried cancelling a second time but since I couldn’t come into the gym due to being out of state, the person on the phone told me to email them. I emailed and restated the issue. The only response was “your 30 days notice has been processed”. I realized that the pay period falls within that 30 days, so I’m going to have to pay AGAIN. That is five months now that they’ve taken my money. The new owners are horrible at customer service and the emails were short and rude. This place had really gone down hill.

I’ve never had a worse experience closing out an account. Over the past several years AFTER canceling with fitness 19, I received bills stating I still owed money. I paid the day I closed out and was told nothing else was needed. I then paid the bill that came, after calling fitness 19 yet again and being told (rudely by their associate) that I never paid my last month. Then I received a collections notice AFTER I had handled this several times over. I’ve spent hundreds to “close” this, only to deal with new people every time who all said the same line, “you never paid last month.” Beware that whoever “closes” your account will not do it correctly and will result in years of headaches. THIS IS THE SAME ISSUE MANY OTHERS HAVE HAD! THIS PLACE IS A SCAM!

Terrible management. Came in and Gabriel lied about the fees. I paid the $50 annual fee up front and got 2 months free. Once trial ended I was charged for the month plus annual fee again!! I joined for the summer and I was not upset or disappointed with my experience there. It's a small gym but it had the necessities to get the job done. Like many places there are rush hours but it never got too bad where I couldn't get my workout done efficiently.

The staff was pretty professional. The only time I had small issues was when I wanted to cancel my membership and when some of the younger workers were obnoxiously playing "basketball" as people were trying to squeeze by(they were still good kids). Other than that, they were all awesome.

If I could change anything about my time there it would be for them to have dumbbells over 100lbs.

I went in on October 2021 to do a hold on my account. I went in again in December and they said they would fix the hold and move it to February. I am now receiving a letter that my account is going to go in to collections if I do not pay. I have been trying to get this fixed since February 2022 and have got nothing but the run around. If you want to avoid this situation happening to you I suggest you keep all your documents from fitness 19 because they do not help. I called again today to ask where they are at with helping me and every single time I call they just take down my name, number, and tell me they are going to call me back but NEVER do. While it is a cheap gym, you definitely get what you pay for. Very old and poorly maintained equipment, no locker rooms, and it seems they don’t want to spend the money to ensure the ac is working, or there is properly functioning plumbing. The one benefit is the majority of the staff there is very friendly and nice; however, the so called “manager” Chris is a joke. Get rid of him, update the equipment (mainly treadmills and bikes), get some a/c going and this would be an amazing gym.

I feel so bad writing this review but I cant over look poor customer service.
1.) There's a guy who works there who has dark hair and glasses. He is AMAZING very helpful and always nice. If you ever have questions go to him.
However.
2.)theres a guy: red hair. In His 20s. Who always gives me and my boyfriend attitude. Every. Single. Time. He is very rude, passive aggressive and atraight up mean. They messed up my name on my account and told me theres no way to change it. However when i called later a really nice lady said its super easy to fix it.
So he just didnt want to help me.
His customer service is HORRIBLE. How do you expect people to want to come back when you treat them like that ?
I personally would rather spend a few more bucks and get better customer service at another gym but my boyfriend likes the OTHER people who work there and the location .

Avoid the guy with red hair. He's impossible to talk to and constaly gives dirty looks and attitude.

This should be addressed because you WILL lose business with employees who treat your members with disrespect . Unacceptable.

It's summer, and this is the coolest place in Citrus Heights. The best air conditioning, that is. It's also an easy place to make friends. Just relax into the atmosphere and say hi to people.

Don't let the size of this gym fool you! They've got something for everyone, plenty of cardio machines and a sizeable array of freeweights and machines for the body builders. This gym doesn't get too packed so you'll always be able to get your workout in. Best of all is the affordable price and the raffle prizes they give away every month. Shoutout to Quinn for doing a great job and being super friendly

Love this place. Always clean , plenty of equipment even for a smaller gym , friendly staff that is always around to help. Great environment to work out in without feeling self conscious. Kids club is also nice with lots of toys to keep kids busy.
