I recently enrolled my two kids at Planet Fitness, but I encountered several issues. They processed the payment for one child but not for the other, and I was unaware that the payment didn't go through. Now, I am being charged an additional fee, even though I wasn't notified about the failed payment. Additionally, there are many fees that are not clearly explained, which can be confusing and frustrating for members. I am willing to pay the membership and late fee, but the manager was unhelpful and made the situation very difficult to resolve. Unfortunately, I don’t have many options since they offer the most affordable prices and are conveniently located. Otherwise, I would consider going elsewhere.
The manager rejected my 14 year old son entry to the gym, even though I offered to pay over the phone using the same credit card that was initially used and already charged. Despite my willingness to resolve the issue remotely, she insisted that I come in person, making the process very difficult.
This happened again for two months and I had my son ask to cancel and they rejected until the overdue is paid and when asked for a written policy on cancellation, we are told by the branch manager that they don't have none.

I am very disappointed with how the staff handled my account issue. There was an error on my file, and I was continuously charged an extra $15 without being notified. I visited the location several times, but no one informed me that there was a problem with my account. When I finally discovered the issue, my concern was ignored, and I was told to pay the charges that had accumulated.

Even after explaining that the mistake was clearly due to an error on file, they refused to waive the extra fees. I also asked to speak to a supervisor, but I was told that communication is only through email and that no phone calls are allowed.

I received no text, no email, or no phone call informing me of the issue, and I was simply told that it was my responsibility to monitor my account not them. This shows a lack of consideration and proper communication toward members.

If i could give this place a negative amount of stars, i would give them a negative 5 stars. Planet Fitness is Ageist and only cares about its younger members. After having a membership for 8 years, my father in law's membership was canceled without warning, all because of a younger member complained that he was using 3 sets of weights.

This gym is nice and clean. The set up is different than the one on Macdonald Ave (Richmond). Which isn’t a complaint. A lot of machine options as well. *Review Update** Taylor & Destiny are very helpful! I had an issue with checking in today 2/23/25, after I paid my bill. I couldn’t scan in. It was taking too long for the app to update(if that’s the issue). Either way, Destiny let me workout! Since she noticed me. 🤘🏼

I have upgraded my one star rating since management has improved, and this location is still a favorite. I left my previous rant, which follows with heavy editing.

Bring 'em on down to play on the equipment. The owners have enough liability insurance to pay for injuries. I love kids. They just don't belong in the gym... for a LOT of reasons."

The situation that I complained about probably spoke to a larger management issue, which had other symptoms. It seems that most such symptoms have since improved. This is a smaller gym with a great bunch of "regulars". It's a chill place that feels friendlier than bigger gyms. It's in a handy location! The facility maintenance is acceptable, and the staff is friendly.

Employees harassing members and guests in the bathroom trying to say we are supposed to be present for the guest to be allowed to use the facility. Inappropriate and callous behavior. The only planet fitness I have ever had this happen before. Don't even think this is a written policy. For a place that prides itself in providing comfort for its members this seems to accomplish the opposite. Making up fake rules to appease an audit for someone who doesn't even know how to even run their franchise properly is not how you fix issues it's how you create bad experiences and provide horrible customer service.

Whoever thought it was a smart idea to reduce the hours to less than 24/7 and to make closing so early at 7 pm on weekends needs to get their brain checked. Honestly, if you were reducing hours, Friday, Saturday, and Sundays are the days we should have the ability to go in late. This "trend" to make the hours consistent with other planet fitness is dumb. Seriously considering canceling my membership as I can no longer go at the times I had time to go. And I'm not going during peak hours where you can barely get a workout in.

I have the black card so I can go to any planet fitness I want. So I have been trying different ones out between work and home. This one in Pinole is the nicest one so far. It has tanning and total body enhancement, which not all of them do.

This one has plenty of space and lots of weight and cardio machines. I'd like more free weights, but I can say that about all of them. The locker room and black card lounge are the best of the ones I've been to.

Planet Fitness is a good little gym for the price. I would like to see more sports channels on when in the gym, after all this is a sports gym. The NBA playoffs gave started and there's not one channel on ESPN covering the games. 24hr Fitness is much bigger, much better and they always have sports channels on.

There's a reason they call it "Prison Fitness". It's great that prices are dirt cheap but as a consequence you get crazy people and thugs who bully and have terrible social manners.
My wife and I were physically threatened on more than one occasion by packs of young men who seem to be camped out at this gym often not even working out. They regularly swear and hurl homophobic epithets even in front of the staff who clearly feel powerless to do anything or are themselves friends with the gang members. We overheard from other frightened patrons one of these young men even brought a loaded gun into the gym.
When we brought our grievances to the managers attention our concerns were dismissed and we were even told our membership would be cancelled. WE were accused of harassing these gang members because we didn't enjoy hearing homophobic curses hurled at us and other patrons!
It would appear the same gang members work there as those who camp there all day.
I'm 68 and my wife is 61 and we are looking for a safer more welcoming environment.
I would pick another franchise for your own safety.

Glad they are open 24 hours. Good size gym, friendly staff. Unfortunately the showers stank of mildew, mold or unclean laundry. I couldn't put my finger on the stench exactly. I'm not sure I would feel okay showering here based on how the bathrooms in general smelled. I just wouldn't be able to stay in the shower room long enough to shower, to be honest. It's sad, because I was planning to make this my goto spot late as night for fitness as an Uber driver I really need to move my body more. A more aesthetic issue was that the bathroom hand sanitizers look like they have about 6 months of dust accumulation on them. Maybe I'm too critical having worked in the food service industry for 2 decades, but customer perception of cleanliness and actual cleanliness go hand in hand with each other. Using more cleaning products while cleaning could have prevented this experience. I've spoken my piece. I'm out.

I read some of these other reviews and I don't know I'm pretty open-minded but also not afraid to speak out if something is wrong I find that I am just glad that I don't have to deal with these types ofn karens that have written these poor reviews as it seems that is why they don't like this place is because they prefer a judgmental place. there is a problem with something most other people who work here are quite attentive and yes some of the restaurants can't be kept up with all the time, But that is where the individual making the mess should start to learn to clean up after themselves a bit rather than expect others to do it for them.

Planet Fitness is an absolute disappointment. The gym's motto of being a 'judgment-free zone' couldn't be further from the truth. Not only is the equipment outdated and poorly maintained, but the staff's attitude is condescending and unhelpful. The gym lacks basic amenities, such as enough weights and machines, making it nearly impossible to have a decent workout during peak hours. The cleanliness is subpar, with sweat-stained equipment and overflowing trash bins. To top it off, the membership fees are outrageously high for the dismal quality of service provided. Save yourself the headache and invest your money elsewhere.

I’m not sure if it was just on the day I went maybe it was an off day but I doubt it. This place was unsanitary. There’s barely any paper towel or spray to clean the machines after use. It’s a place that’s cleaned at or straightened up…. Even the bathrooms were gross..A person can tell the difference between clean and mediocre… this place is definitely mediocre when it comes to cleaning. There’s entirely too many people coming in and out for it not to be cleaned properly or sprays available to wipe the machines down after use. It needs to be attended to and kept better.

This is a clean Planet fitness with free parking. There are lots of machines and plenty of room. During the day, there are plenty of machines open and ready to use. When I searched for a planet Fitness, this one would not show up on maps. Hopefully, that has been rectified.

The gym is good, decently priced for what you are getting. Best to pay to be able to have access to everything. Hydro bed is great, tanning available. Only one thing about my last visit was the woman's shower and changing area. Showers were I mean really filthy, looked as someone yanked big pieces of hair out and threw on the shower walls, floor seemed as it hadn't been swept or mopped in a while, lots of hair n dirt everywhere. I had to ask for broom so I could clean it up, and also had to wash the shower out u was going to use . The gym is big on disinfecting the machines each time but obviously the bathrooms/shower area isn't as important because it was pretty neglected. I was there at around 2am so no one was really using the gym, that should be the perfect time for those cleanings with a couple employees there.

My brother and I work out 5 days a week. Machines will be broken for months, the manager does nothing, there are areas where clearly something had spilled.. not being cleaned up. They rarely greet you.. except DILLON. He is on vacation right now. We miss 6. He is so professional, greets us with a peppy greeting, and knows our names. Came here as a guest with my dad who just became a member. I gotta say this is one the nicer Planer Fitness facilities that I've been to in a while. The place was clean. The massage chairs are a nice touch. Of course if your a black card member then you have access to those extra amenities. They messed up my membership charged me higher amount. I didn't like that. Other than that I like the fact they have a cleaning stations around to clean the equipment. That is very important to me. They have multiple fans running to help the ventilation that is a big thing for me also.

They were nice about trying to fix my membership. That is my only issue. I just started back working out and feels good knowing I can do it relatively safe. So far no run ins with the staff they seem helpful.

Bathrooms looked clean and nice but there was no hot water or even warm water. Left the shower running for 15 minutes and the water didn’t budge from freezing. This place is a joke. There is a fresh new sign up this morning right by the front door that people need to have masks on. Yet there were countless people there walking right in the front door with no mask on. People working out with no mask on while employees are standing right next to them and interacting with them. I literally saw an employee cleaning a treadmill right next to a person on a treadmill with no mask on. The employee said nothing. Either hire people who are going to enforce the rules or shut down. The staff here don’t make a member feel welcome. Rather than to come on the floor to clean the gym or stock the cleaning supplies they confront ppl for a face covering coming off just to wipe off sweat or barely not covering the nose.
