I wanted to get back into the gym post-quarantine and I started looking for gyms around the area. I've tried Title Boxing, F45, and close to 15+ other places before choosing Pure Form because I walked in and had a gut feeling that this was exactly what I was looking for!
I didn't feel pressured to join at all from my first call with Michael to inquire about the class schedule and when I finally came in, the atmosphere was perfect! Everyone is so friendly and welcoming, I didn't want to leave!
I've been going to Pure Form for a year now. If you're looking for hands-on experience with coaches who emphasize good form and small, intimate group classes, this is the place.
TRAINING:
I've taken both Michael's and Jacklyn's classes - they both have different styles of encouragement and training but the daily workout itself is the same.
The main driving point with Pure Form is that they are all about having good form and making sure you are safe from injury so that you only have to focus on pushing yourself through the 45-minute workouts.
The normal training schedule is MW Strength, T/Thur Core/Cardio, Friday, Form (Seems like all out at the end of the week - Mondays are usually easiest!) - but the workouts do change every month!
I also like that the workouts are fairly consistent for a whole month so you can learn the movements and improve on form/increase weights!
FACILITY:
The facility is large and spacious, there are TRX suspensions, medicine balls, sandbags, dumbbells, and resistance bands of varying sizes available. I've been able to grab the exact weights I want for every workout too, so they have plenty of options. The one thing that I would ding on is that you can only use the facility for training during the group classes at the moment, which is held hourly between 5-8 AM and 5-7 PM respectively!
PRICE:
If you visit their website for a free trial, you can see that they're pretty transparent on pricing, another plus in my book! For this area, the pricing is very reasonable, most other gyms in Midtown and West Sac all range from $150-200 monthly, and the quality of instruction and small group class format here is excellent.

They also do student and military discounts, just ask!

Michael and the team make workouts fun but still push you in the best way. No matter if you’re brand new or have been training for years, they’ll meet you where you’re at and help you reach your goals. The gym has such a welcoming vibe, with lots of longtime members who make it feel like a real community. Michael Rankin has brought something very special to West Sacramento. Pure Form Training has pulled me out of a decade long funk and helped me to improve my strength, mental wellbeing and get my weight back under control. Michael’s team of trainers (specifically Clint and Haley) are amazing and just as motivating as Michael. This outfit seems to attract very down-to-earth members and I’ve yet to meet a ‘workout neighbor’ I didn’t like. For the first time in my life, I look forward to working out. At first, I was a bit apprehensive to join because I was not sure if I will like gym since I am very particular about certain things, but I must say it has been the best choice I have made training at Pure Form Training (PFT). I have joined PFT over a month ago and love this place!! The workouts are creative and constantly changing, so it is never boring. The gym has the best energy, staff, and atmosphere. PFT West Sac is so much more than a gym, it’s a family! The owner, Coach Michael, really cares about his members and is 100% there to support you through your highs and lows of your fitness journey. He’s extremely approachable, knowledgeable, and just an all around positive person. If he’s not coaching the class, he’s right there doing the workouts with you. PFT West Sac also has 3 other awesome coaches (Jackie, Hailey, and Clint). Take a class with any of them and you will not be disappointed! I can speak on in-person and virtual memberships. Here’s my story… I used to be an in-person member back in 2018 and maaaan the energy in those 6am classes was insane! I loved the workouts and being surrounded by truly awesome people was a great way to start my day. I was honestly in the best shape I had ever been in, but unfortunately, I moved away. Then a few years later, Covid happened and all the shut downs were happening and I kinda lost myself and gained a bunch of weight. I got to the heaviest I’d ever been. I tried getting back into working out and just felt so bored with it. I needed something fun with high energy; I needed something that I knew would work; I needed PFT. I reached out to Michael and I was so relieved when I found out PFT West Sac offered virtual classes. I’m happy to say that for the last 6.5 months, I’ve done PFT workouts 5x/week every single week. It’s like an addiction. I also love the virtual set up- it’s one person coaching the workout while another person does the workout. So with being at home, you still feel like you’re doing the workout with someone and they always give different options for the different equipment that you might have or the level you’re at. There’s even a separate break down video for each workout, so you can find out what’s coming at you and learn the proper form before getting into the workout video. I do miss the in-person energy and connecting with people, but Michael does a really great job of bringing together the virtual members and the in-person members through the challenges and the Facebook page for members.

Love Pure Form Training! A friend told me about it, and I tried it for a month. It is consistent, on time, amazing workouts for a busy professional, and a really friendly focused vibe to get you looking and feeling your best. I’m not one of those people who really enjoyed working out, in fact I hadn’t been in 10 years. My wife started going for about a year until she finally convinced me to give it a try. I’m glad I did. PFT West Sac changed my life. I used to hate working out because before PFT, I would go to the traditional gym and it was a “me vs. the machine” environment (boring plus I had no clue how to use the equipment). I was recently asked if I wanted to join a Keto challenge with a friend of mine. I knew very little about Keto at the time but I knew a lot of people liked it and were having success with it.
The day before the challenge, I was given a book that outlined everything from instructions to tips to meals, recipes and shopping lists. Pretty much didn’t have to think about anything.
I am two weeks in and I’ve lost 12lbs. 1 week to go. The crazy part about losing the 12lbs is, I am eating a lot of food, I feel full all the time and 90% of the recipes are incredible!!
We also did two body scans so far and as much as I could have gone my whole life without seeing that, it did show the progress in a ton of detail both stats and visual haha.
Michael and Renee, have extensive knowledge in the fitness industry, they’re very professional and a lot of fun. They’re are there every step of the way if you need it or just have questions.

PFT West Sac has the best trainers and the workouts constantly push you to the limits. If you want a workout and trainers (Thank you Michael and Renea) that are motivating, knowledgeable and are passionate about fitness and their clients, then come check this gym out. You will love to hate every workout but will feel 110% when you walk out the door. In addition, your body will reap the benefits.

The trainers and owners are knowledgeable and passionate about what they do. I have received so much support and encouragement as well as tools to achieve my fitness goals. They are big on proper techniques and form, to avoid injury and get the best results. The classes are engaging, the members are fun and you will only be disappointed if you don't try it. It is tough, but if you give your best, you will leave class happy. On top if all this, the owners do a lot to give back! FB checkins to donate to new causes each month. A gym that you can feel good about, and that makes you feel good!!! I love PFT!!!

I absolutely love working out at Pure Form PFT!!! It feels like a family. We all motivate each other and do some hard/challenging workouts but Michael is badass and makes sure that we have good form and are not doing the exercises incorrectly to where we could hurt ourselves.
I will be a long time member!

I don't really know where to start. I joined back in August 2016 and been hooked since. I initially started at 169 lbs and 20.8% body fat and a BMR of 39. As of now I'm at 163, 12.8% and my BMR is 17. I fit in size 31 pants now and my wife just recently returned from a 10 month deployment and can not get over my transformation. She is very proud of me. Michael's methods and philosophies are what have worked best for me and I've been to many gyms and held numerous memberships. This is who and what I've stuck with for the longest period of time and there's a reason for it! In addition to the membership aspect Michael is just a very approachable and personable individual. He's willing to spend extra time with you if you're struggling and/or just have any pressing questions. He will adjust workouts and exercises for you if you have certain ailments and/or conditions. All the members are great here and friendly. Hence the #pftfamily! I could go on and on, but at the end of the day, I say if you're curious give it a shot! You'll be grateful you did.
