I have been coming to this studio for over 15 years now and am infinitely greatful to yoga tropics for providing such a wonderful studio for me to practice yoga. It is a family owned business and definitely a hub among yoga lovers in Encinitas. All the teachers are great but Elia in particular really sets the standard of excellence. I love coming to his wednesday classes at 430 to keep my mind and body in balance. Thank you to all the staff at yoga tropics for your warmth and knowledge.

I want to say that Elia's class is the most informative class I've ever taken. He has a way of explaining in detail all of the aspects of the specific movements and the ideas behind them. I've gained a much better understanding of proper form to get the most out of each pose while preventing injury.

Great teacher 👌

Yoga Tropics is my place for hearty exercise and lots of healthy sweat. Elia is a standout among the teaching staff. His knowledge of the human structure is astonishing and is skillfully applied to refining yoga positions for students at all levels. Elia speaks with volume and clear articulation. Students are given precise direction as positions are held for advancement at all levels. Elia is the pied piper and has a following of dedicated students who are looking for improvement in their yoga journey.

Yoga Tropics is a special yoga studio and community. I cherish my time there. I am so thankful for the all the yoga teachers who seem to care about guiding each student and class.
Special love and appreciation for Elia who's Wednesday class has been a part of my overall health practice now for many years. Elia has so much practical health, wellness, kinesiology, and psychology knowledge that his classes more than the others expose any weakness in my diet, mind, stress, hydration levels, soreness, etc... Most importantly, I feel safe with him guiding the class and making adjustments. Elia's IG page has also become an overflow of knowledge in my overall health pursuit, cutting through all the noise. My 80 year old self will thank me that I practice yoga with Elia.

Without a doubt, the most rewarding part of my week is going to Yoga Tropics. Elia leads the class that I go to on Wednesday’s. I find the flow to be simple enough to stay grounded while working up a good sweat. He emphasizes technique, attention, breath-work, and form. I’ve found that the ability to practice yoga at Yoga Tropics has poured over into other facets of my life and has tightened up mind body connection. After class, you feel lighter. Grateful for teachers like Elia and the whole team at Toga Tropics.

I’ve been attending Yoga Tropics for 16 years on and off and despite it being a bit of a trek from where I live, I always find myself coming back. That alone should tell you something about how special this place is. Over the years I have practiced in many studios and with many teachers. But none compare to the consistent quality and warmth - literally ;) of Tropics. Many years ago I took a 90 minute class with a teacher named Elia and his teaching sparked a real curiosity for the practice, which ended up being nothing less than life changing.
Early on in my time at Tropics I was able to take two posture clinics with Elia that were actually game changers and gave me a solid foundation of alignment, body mechanics, and breath. Elia has a rare gift - not just as a teacher of yoga postures, but as someone who understands the deeper layers of the practice and how to communicate them clearly and compassionately. His classes are a perfect blend of challenge, intelligence, and intention. He teaches with both precision and care, meeting students where they are but never letting us settle into autopilot. There is always something to learn, refine, or deepen under his guidance.
Many years later I signed up for a yoga wall class, not really knowing what it was or what to expect but simply because Elia was teaching it. I knew that whatever he was offering would be legit. Of course it was that and more. (I now even have a yoga wall in my home.) Elia is an amazing teacher who blends physical precision with deep knowledge and heart. HIs classes are challenging in the best way. He brings a depth of understanding to the practice that has profoundly impacted me. I’ve not only improved my alignment and strength but I’ve developed a far deeper understanding of yoga as a whole: philosophy, purpose, and connection to life beyond the mat. His teaching has truly elevated my practice and expanded my knowledge in ways I never expected.
There’s a reason I’ve made the effort to return here time and again, even with the distance: the growth I’ve experienced at this studio AND the fact that I can consistently take Elia’s class is worth every mile. At Yoga Tropics you can get a good sweat, a great workout, and/or an hour long moving meditation. And if you have the opportunity to take a class with Elia, don’t think twice. Just go. Your practice will thank you.

I’ve been a dedicated CorePower member for over a decade, but the one and only reason I make my way to Yoga Tropics is for Elia’s classes. He is, without a doubt, one of the most knowledgeable and supportive instructors I’ve ever practiced with. His expert understanding of anatomy, alignment, and breathwork consistently creates an experience that is safe, challenging, and deeply transformative. Whether you’re brand new to yoga or have years of practice behind you, Elia’s classes offer meaningful value for everyone. I always leave feeling stronger, more centered, and truly inspired. I can’t recommend his classes enough!

Went to yoga tropics for the first time today. Compared to other studios, their amenities are really lacking. They don’t have any face towels available or body wash in the shower. The floors are slippery and not ideal for when you’re sweating. The whole space is quite small, feels cramped walking into the studio and in the studio. To rent a towel was 5 dollars which seems excessive. The class was pretty good but very standard. I don’t think I’d prioritize returning.

Yoga Tropics is an excellent studio with experienced, caring instructors. The classes are intense and challenge you to push your limits, but also encourage everyone to do what’s best for their own bodies and abilities. Many other yoga studios I’ve been to are very “showy” and can be intimidating. Yoga Tropics is a supportive and friendly community where anyone can feel safe to grow their yoga practice!

I'm visiting Encinitas for the month, and (thankfully) discovered Yoga Tropics! The instructors are all fantastic. It's friendly and welcoming. I feel like I'm part of a community every time I go. If you're looking for a challenging, fulfilling, (and hot) yoga practice, I definitely recommend checking out Yoga Tropics!

I moved to Carlsbad in the summer of 2022 and was looking forward to finding a new yoga studio to get back into my practice. I’m a RYT certified in traditional Vinyasa looking for a studio that could challenge me other than vinyasa classes, I’m not into Y6 or CorePower type of studios either. I came across YT on the MINDBODY app noticed they had a Bikram class. I believe the 2 Bikram classes I’ve taken I believe the owner was the instructor and she is amazing, knows her students by name, and gives positive feedback throughout the class.

First of all, the yoga is great! I enjoyed the hot yoga classes. The majority of the people teaching the classes or supporting customers are super friendly and engaging though some are aloof and don't try to connect. The room is hot! I just wish there was more variety--the flow is the same each time. And while the classes are always challenging, I crave novelty to keep me in the present moment. It may be a crutch, but it certainly works for me.

Yoga Tropics is by far the best yoga studio in town. I've been practicing yoga for decades and find such peace and mindfulness at Yoga Tropics, coupled with the best hot yoga flow around. The studio is authentic, supportive and encouraging and all of the instructors are amazing and bring their own gifts to their classes. Yoga Tropics always seems to help me find my focus and perspective, as well as maintain my health and well-being. Tropics is an Encinitas gem and I'm truly grateful for it.

I love this establishment. Knowledgeable and thoughtful teachers, who blend their own style and creative input into the classes. The flow is broken down where beginners catch on and the advanced yogis' breathe through their inspiring postures and transitions.

The atmosphere is set, the heat is tuned, the flow is on.

Yoga Tropics is a major cog in what made/makes Encinitas... well Encinitas.

Enjoy your rebalancing and harmonizing.

I took a hot yoga class here taught by Taylor. What an incredible experience. This is not the type of class in which the instructor stands at the front of the room modeling poses, in fact, she walks around the room between mats using the proper and official yoga-move name. However, although I am a beginner, she made it so easy to follow along with descriptive terms outside of the standard Sanskrit terminology. So I thought I would need to have a firmer grip on yoga before attending the class, but Taylor made it much easier. And because most moves are based off of your strength and flexibility, you can push to your own level. This class is done in a room heated to 103* degrees so within minutes you will feel loose and get your body moving and stretching in great ways you never have before. Anyways, I feel like I’m getting better at yoga, and will be back to take her class again in the future!

Yoga Tropics is my home studio. This is the studio with the strongest yogis in Encinitas, hands down. If you are looking for a hot class and/or a hard vinyasa, go check it out. You won't regret it.

I've gone on their Costa Rica yoga retreat and I've done their teacher training. I highly recommend both.

One of the best things about this studio is that they are open to different types of yoga and feature different teachers over the years who teach various types of yoga. I've had the opportunity to take a range of different styles of yoga here over the years- from Jivamukti, Anusara, and Swasthya to some of the more commonly found forms.

The studio is run by a family and this makes all of the difference in the world. All of the family members practice at the studio and most work there as well. This is something that is priceless to me. It is more than a yoga studio. It's a yoga family. I feel very fortunate to be a part of this sweet yoga community.

I need kindness at yoga, and this studio never disappoints. No stuck up show off teachers, no superiority complexes, no ego. Just good hard yoga. I've been loving this studio for over a decade. If you want to really push yourself and practice with a strong group, this is your spot.

I'm grateful to have such an amazing place to enjoy and grow my practice.
Keep up the great work - we love you!
