I really like this gym, but lately it has become overcrowded with people who are not affiliated with the military or the Academy. It makes it difficult for actual service members and cadets to get a workout in. Many users take up two or three machines at the same time, which slows everyone down. The basketball courts are constantly taken over by pickleball games, so you canβt even play basketball anymore. I hope the gym can tighten access and enforce basic gym etiquette so the space works for everyone it was intended for.

Great fitness center for military personnel and their families. Good selection of equipment, clean, and good workout atmosphere. It closes pretty early though - 8 PM on weekdays and 6 PM on weekends

Great place. Only issue Iβve had is the older female workers. Some of them have insane attitude problems. Had a Middle Aged woman, probably a worker, who has a husky service dog threaten to call the police on me when my CAC was being weird at the door during 24hr access time.
I was letting her go because my CAC is finicky with the card reader, and with meanness proceeds to tell me she wonβt let me in. She walks in blocking us from entering and closes the door, but my CAC worked right after so I got in. She proceeds to come around the corner threatening to call the police because I βused my CAC and not the 24hr access cardβ. Like what am I, a terrorist? So I showed her how the CAC works and she proceeds to tell me it wonβt work and Iβm wrong. Long story short I was right and she stormed off all upset.
All other staff is cool.

You should consider yourself very lucky π, if you have the opportunity to vist this outstanding Pool. One of the finest Pools ever, for sure!!

Really a great gym. Thereβs a pool that has decent hours for members to get there after work. Great cardio room with all the equipment you could need. Only wish they had a few more afternoon classes since I canβt make it there during work day. Pleasantly surprised how nice it is and that Iβve never tried it before. Super friendly staff as well.

I was a little surprised at how many people were working out on a weekday afternoon but it didn't feel crowded. All the equipment you could need is readily available. The functional fitness area could use some additional bumper plates as there was someone waiting till I finished my sets. They is an absolutely awesome place to get fit though. I'll have to bring my trunks and use the pool next time.

This facility is OUTSTANDING! Ron Walker and his staff do a great job running the USAFA Family Fitness Center. The programs are well organized and inclusive. The equipment is well maintained. The pandemic safety measures conform to standards while accommodating the needs of athletes. Best of all, everyone feels welcome. We are very fortunate.

Really 4 1/2 stars if that were an option. Especially during the pandemic, it's nice to have this gym as an option as face coverings are enforced and I've never felt "crowded" with their size limits. They have specialized machines (reverse hyper, deadlift hex bar, punching bag, etc) which isn't surprising given it's a military gym for cadets, but nonetheless nice having access to it. I believe db's go up to 100lb which may not be enough for heavy lifters, but I would say the highlight of this gym is the space and partitioned workout areas.

The fitness center has been closed to dependents (active duty) since March 2020 due to COVID-19. On September 7, 2020 the base Commander opened up the gym to dependents only from the hours of 9 am to12 pm. Not all dependents have the luxury of stay home. According to the Commander they are βjust following CDC guidelinesβ but if that was the case why does Fort Carson allow all dependents all hours of the day. Living on USAF Academy is like living in a prison.

Hands down the best place to work out in the city, an amazing selection of equipment both machines and free weights. Indoor racquetball courts, a fantastically sized swimming pool, and quite a selection of both classes and competitions. Though keep in mind the competitions are for military personnel, their dependents, and civilian DOD employees only. I will say though, as someone who has only gone as a guest, none of the staff treat you any differently as a guest than they do proper ID holding individuals.

The USAFA Community Center gym has a variety of areas to workout. Its clean and well maintained. It is by no means modern or high tech.
Indoors
Two full basketball courts that can change to volleyball if needed.
Three racquetball courts that can convert to walleyball I'd desired.
A weight room with free and machine weights
A swimming pool, 25 feet
A yoga room or aerobics room.
Plenty of lockers on all three floor, the top floor has a sauna.
Outdoors
Tennis courts, football, and soccer fields.
The par-course (a walk run through the woods with physical fitness stops along the way.
