DBC is where Denver’s athletic community comes to test their kinesthetic intelligence, and it’s why I recommend it to my rock-climbing patients. This isn't just about strength; it's about structural problem-solving.

I also appreciate the 24/7 access option; dedicated training doesn't keep a 9-to-5 schedule.

Joining DBC is hands down the best thing I could have done for myself while living in Denver. In addition to the great routes and it being a locally owned business, the community at this gym is unlike any other gym I’ve been to. I met some of my closest friends in Denver at this gym - after just less than year I’m going to one of their weddings this fall! Everyone is so supportive, kind, and also dedicated to their climbing practice. I would say it’s impossible to finish a climbing session without a friendly or encouraging interaction from at least one person. Skip the other climbing gym chains in the area and look no further, DBC is where it’s at!

Huge facility with great access and a really wide variety of styles and climbs, which I love. A lot of different and interesting wall shapes, which makes for some really cool climbs.

This is a review of DBC as a whole, not any particular location. Let me begin by stating that I have been a loyal member of DBC for 4 years, and it all came to a screeching halt rapidly. As of 6/30, DBC closed their north location, and ownership tried to keep their members in the dark by not releasing any information until the very day of closing. I am frustrated both as a paying member, and as a friend of DBC employees who have been negatively affected by this transition. Additionally, when I inquired via email about cancelling the last month of my yearly membership and being reimbursed given the circumstances (only have access to 2/3 listed gyms, and intentionally being kept in the dark as a member), I received the response β€œour membership terms do not allow for an automatic cancellation if one of our locations becomes unavailable.” Their level of communication is extremely poor, and, given the high number of bouldering gyms in the Denver metro area, you can do much better elsewhere. It saddens me to see my 4 years ruined so quickly, but I want to warn others of the way DBC has handled their recent closure, which is indicative of the way ownership runs the business and treats others in general.

DBC is an awesome climbing gym with a super friendly, welcoming community that makes it easy to feel at home. The setting is creative and challenging, with routes that are thoughtfully designed to keep things fresh. There’s always a great variety of climbs, and the positive, supportive vibe really sets this gym apart. It’s a great place to push yourself, connect with others, and just have a good time.

Weekly rotations, friendly/awesome community, and great challenges - dbc central is a gem of a climbing gym with a focus on indoor bouldering, a variety of spray walls, and training or workout equipment. Always a blast coming out here.

Pretty cool climbing gym located slightly outside of downtown Denver in a somewhat unassuming location. I’m pretty new to bouldering but starting to get into it. It definitely felt much more like a real community than other more corporate-like businesses I have been to and the prices felt fair. One of my favorite parts of DBC was that there were a bunch of dogs.

The bouldering setup itself seemed well laid out and had a decent amount of options for beginners to experts (the ranking there goes from E to M to H). As a beginner, there were 4-5 for me to do which kept me busy enough. The weights area is pretty bare but I’m assuming most people go there for the bouldering and not to lift weights.

Equipment is pretty limited - no spray wall, dumbbells only go up to about 50lbs, hangboard area sucks.

They also claimed they didn't get my email to cancel and refused to refund me a couple months' worth of dues. I never swiped in after trying to cancel and had even bought day passes after cancelling. Terrible business practice.

The day my membership renewed I told them that I could no longer afford it. They told me they didn’t care and they wouldn’t be refunding me for the month.

Edit: The Denver Bouldering Club fails to mention that they did not update my contract when the conditions were changed. When we agreed upon the changed conditions a new contract should’ve been sent to me, as all communication outside of the contract does not constitute a change. When mistakes are made on Denver Boulder Clubs part, they refuse to acknowledge it and the manager will ignore your emails but will respond back to you on a public forum to make it look like they’re doing something. Looks like I should’ve read the reviews because this happened to multiple different people.

As a beginner climber, I had an awesome experience at Denver Bouldering Club. The atmosphere was welcoming and supportive, perfect for someone just starting out. The routes were super fun and just the right level of challenging, which kept me engaged and motivated throughout my session. The staff were helpful and provided great tips on technique, which really helped me improve. Overall, it was a fantastic introduction to bouldering, and I can't wait to go back and continue my climbing journey there!

The decline in route quality for people who are trying to transition from beginner routes to intermediate routes in the last 6 months is very disappointing. The gulf between E+ and M- is incredibly hard to bridge at this location and the quantity of those routes is very sparse. I would like to see more E+ routes on the steep incline walls to give more variety but also a different kind of difficulty upgrade besides grips. I would also like to see a few M- routes with slightly easier grips or keep the grip difficulty but make the incline less complicated. Also the number of route changes skipped between November 2023 and Jan 2024 made a fun and complicated hobby into a very boring one during that period.

The staff there is always so nice and accommodating and even after some of my friends moved I felt like I always had a community at DBC. DBC is my favorite gym! I was a member for almost 7 years. I recently left the gym as we moved out of state. I always appreciated that the gym is locally owned and has an amazing community feel. The staff and the route setting are fantastic! I always appreciate that they support small business in CO and local community outreach programs. They put on a charity event every year called Heart and Soul which is so much fun to participate in! The best part is any proceeds raised go to support cancer research!!! Thank you DBC for all the memories!!! I'll for sure be back to climb in your gyms anytime I'm in Denver!!!

I moved from Boulder to Denver recently and I wanted to find a top rope gym with enough autobelays that I could practice climbing on my own ala the Boulder Rock Club, but there aren't any in Denver like that, really. (Movement will charge you more money to provide less equipment, though.) So the next best option was instead coming here and learning to boulder properly, and I'm glad I did.

There are three locations to the DBC that each have their own unique flavor, and all of them are great. Each gym has a number of color-coded walls, and one wall gets rotated per week per gym - meaning that you get fresh problems at a very consistent rate while still getting to practice problems on each particular wall for a month or so. I try to climb at each location once per week and there's always something fresh every visit even at that frequency. I can't comment too much on the harder settings, but from the perspective of someone fairly new to climbing mostly attempting Easy+/Medium- routes, the setting is usually really good, a great balance of challenge (even at lower levels!) and variety of types of routes that will always push you to keep up.

If you don't like dogs, this gym is probably not great because people are allowed to bring theirs, but if you do (I do), I can't really think of any downsides. It doesn't have the soulless corporate feel of a megagym, quite the opposite in fact. Sometimes they hold events (like for the Lunar New Year, which was AWESOME and had an amazing Korean food truck outside) or amateur climbing competitions, and even at those the vibes are low-key and local. They've got the standard gym suite of treadmills, weights, and yoga classes (free with membership!) plus a bunch of climbing specific training aids like hangboards, moonboards, and a traverse wall at DBC North. 24/7 access here is considerably cheaper than any other climbing gym I'm aware of in the area and the business hours membership is even cheaper than that. So you get a better overall experience at a much more affordable price.

Part of me wants to keep this place lesser known because I like it so much but I also want the business to do well and for the staff to have all the shifts they need, which is the only reason I’m writing the review. So many nice things to say about this place.

The gym is very well-routed with interesting geometry and features. The competition routes which had been left up from the week prior were insanely fun and definitely show the level of dedication the gym intends to put itself at for genuine climbing.

The staff were all incredibly friendly and accommodating. The manager went out of her way to help with crash pad rentals and subsequent refunds due to bad weather.

The community is extremely inviting, allowing dogs, hosting vendor nights for climbing-related groups to come share and engage with members, and I believe being accessible 24/7 for members (I'm not 100% sure on this but signs pointed to this being the case)

If I'm ever in Denver again, I will always intend to stop by.

Thanks for being so kind

Super fun climbing gym, love the variety of features as they have everything from slabs to cave climbing. Only two complaints are:

1) personaly I'm not a huge fan of their grading system since they do band grading
2) wish they used the KAYA climbing app

Other than those two trivial complaints this gym is awesome. Definitely can get crowded during peak hours (5pm - 7pm) but that's pretty common with most gyms.

Recently started a monthly 24/7 membership and love the place. There's tons of bouldering problems for people of all levels, and it seems that each wall is reset once a month so there's plenty of time to work on a problem you haven't completed before it disappears and haunts you until the end of time... It's clean and the staff are friendly and communicate well. The community of gym goers is also strong and very positive. Many visits I meet and chat with people while climbing and learn a thing or two. A fantastic choice if you're debating which gym to join in the Denver area. I've only been to central so far, but the membership includes their north and south locations.

Really disappointed…

I wanted to climb here so I bought a Groupon. I called and called to see if the gym would discriminate between Groupons for different locations. After nobody answering I decided to give it a shot. Unfortunately I was turned away with only 5 people in the entire gym.

New to the Denver area, so wanted to check out the local gyms- had heard great things about DBC, & wasn’t disappointed when I paid a drop-in & went to check it out. Multiple different walk angles, big training areas, etc makes this a super-dope spot for climbers who are training-minded.
Later that night I was looking more at the gyms website & noticed that there was a weekly membership option, which I wasn’t told about when I had come the day prior. I went back by the gym & asked to speak with the manager, where I explained my situation & asked if lI could PY the difference for the weekly option, since I hadn’t been told about it the day prior. am new to the area, & am looking for a local climbing gym. To my surprise, she refused, & said that although no one told me about that option, I’d still have to cover the whole cost. Well within her rights, but surprisingly unfriendly, unprofessional, & short-sighted.
Regardless, this is a dope spot. Hopefully this is just a certain employee who can’t see the big picture & not the actual manager/owner. Too bad someone like that might scare folks off before they even get a chance to really experience the place.
Update: was contacted by manager quickly & situation was resolved. Seemed like a misunderstanding, but cool to see it handled so quickly. This is such a cool gym (both of the 2 locations I went to) & all the staff & members I met were very friendly & inviting.

The space itself is fine, as are many of the day-to-day employees. But over the last few years I have had *NUMEROUS* issues with representatives lying about pricing, getting charged incorrectly or multiple times, and always being told some variation of "well that sounds like a YOU problem, bro". I'd like to be singing DBC's praises more often, but they're just never there for me when it comes to billing and support. Great gym, friendly staff, unfortunately terrible business with a serious credit card security/fraud problem. I went to DBC one time and ever since then I've seen tons of charges spread out over the past 18 months that I did not authorize. When I contacted the gym about this issue the staff were friendly but ultimately completely unhelpful and required me to go through my bank to get the charges reversed. These charges have totaled well over $1000 dollars and based on my conversations with them the gym is unwilling or unable to try and stop these from occurring. If you choose to go there, use cash or PayPal but I would never trust them with your CC number.

Really enjoy the new North Gym in Thornton. From the 16’ top out boulders to the huge cave to the dedicated traverse island. I love the new facility and the atmosphere!

Good rotation schedule, clever boulders keep you thinking at all levels. Nice variety of walls. Kind people, everyone mostly keeps to themselves and their small groups of 2-3 people.

Fun place! I have a friend who is a member, it is only $10 to go with her as a guest. Totally worth it since I only climb once a week. The place is big to always have a spot.

This gym is great! I don’t usually visit bouldering gyms but this one is an exception. The routes are varied and challenging, but what I appreciate most of all is the vibe is very laid-back and humble. Everyone I’ve met there has been super friendly!

This is my favorite places to Boulder in Denver. There is a relaxed atmosphere, constantly changing routes to keep things interesting, and they allow dogs to hang out while you climb! The staff there is also kind and amazing at answering any questions you might have. You could easily spend a few hours here on a great variety of climbing style problems, types of wall designs, and difficulties.

Best routes in town. I canceled my membership at one point and climbed at a few different gyms around town. Kept missing their routes had to come back.

Best climbing gym in the Denver area. Other places are obviously doing it for the money, but DBC does it for the passion and community. Highly recommend checking it out. Also, the best bouldering setters around Denver.

I've been going to the Denver Bouldering club pretty consistent for almost a yeah and a half now. All of the staff are super friendly and are really great representatives of the openness and supportive qualities that can be found within the climbing community.
I was skeptical at first about the rating system as they group grades within their own Easy, Medium and Hard grading system. However, I've come to believe that it helps climbers forget about grades a bit and just climb routes that seem enjoyable. The routesetting can get super creative and interesting at all grades.
I would definitely recommend checking them out over one of the larger climbing conglomerates, you won't be disappointed.

We are visitors to Denver for the week, we got rained out today and were looking for something fun to do indoors and this was something that came up after some searching. We’re so glad we decided to go here, what a great time for just $16.

The gentleman at the front was great, gave us a very sincere and warm welcome, felt like he was genuinely excited for us to be there, that’s always enjoyable. This was on 6/22 at around 1pm, kudos to him!

It was an overall great experience! So much so that we will be taking this up as a hobby down in south Florida :)

My husband and I are visiting from Florida and decided to try this place out. I would HIGHLY recommend checking this place out! But don't be fooled, it's much more difficult than it looks!

I don't remember the gentleman's name at the front but he was extremely awesome and helped us with ideas for more activities to do while we were in town.

Climbed at DBC central & south for about a year. Overall really great rock walls & friendly staff with great hours for people without a steady schedule. The only thing they could do better is get taller walls! lol
