DYU is a deep look into everything Yoga is and is not. This program will change the way you look at things in life for the better. I originally came to the YTT because I wanted to teach yoga, but then I learned that teaching is one very small part of yoga. Either way, I feel equipped to be a competitive teacher on the job market because of this program. I was pushed to look at the importance of being intentional when representing yoga. I am very grateful for Derik and Beth who lead this transformation.

I recently completed Denver Yoga Underground’s 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training. I would highly recommend it to those looking for teacher training that covers much more than how to teach the asanas and those who want to do some self-discovery.
Derik is a very knowledgeable, experienced, and supportive teacher. He created a comprehensive program that includes yoga philosophy, Ayurveda, and teaching, in addition to a safe environment. As a program graduate, I can now create and offer yoga lessons starting with a dharma talk, moving through a well-designed sequence, and concluding with pranayama and meditation. I am grateful for the teachings of Derik, Beth, Tushta and Linda and appreciate the amazing community I bonded with over three months.

You’re probably looking at these reviews because you want a holistic YTT program and not just a corporate, fitness-based program, and if so, I can assure you that you’ll find this at DYU. Derik and the other instructors are highly experienced and most importantly interested in yoga as a whole concept, (including Ayurveda, pranayama, yoga theory, supporting literature, etc.) and not just the asanas.
I’ve been in the 200 hour YTT program at Denver Yoga Underground for the past four months & graduated just yesterday. The community with fellow trainees was an unexpected bonus of this training and I will forever cherish this experience. I’d recommend this program to anyone as I believe it’s an incredible foundation for aspiring yoga teachers.

I took the YTT. This is perfect if you are looking to expand your practice and teach yoga. Derik does an amazing job staying true to yoga’s heritage. He goes very in depth in the material and you get to explore much more than just the asanas. I highly recommend if you are looking for a tight yoga community, and looking to explore many aspects of your life through the lenses of yoga.

I’ve been in this program for three and a half months, I love it. If you love to make new yogi friends, learn about yoga more in depth, and love getting on a yoga mat more than three times a week this is the program for you. Derik is an amazing teacher and the kindest human I have ever met!

If you are seeking for a yoga tribe or looking to practice some classical yoga, with less intense asana practice, but deeper and more mindful mental experience - it's the place. I visit this studio for almost a year now and I can tell, that I've finally found my ashram and my yoga teacher - Derik. Studio provides weekly Wednesday classes as well as number of events as well as YTT200 (RYT). If you're really into yoga - please, give it a shot. Much LOVE!

Derik has worked hard to make DYU an outstanding school of yoga. His passion for the traditions and teachings of yoga shines on throughout the program. He has a structured way of organizing the program so each unit and concept builds on one another.
I would highly recommend this program whether you are looking to deepen and develop your personal practice or become a teacher. There is so much knowledge and experience gained in such a short amount of time it is truly transformational. I am very grateful for finding DYU from my 200 hour YTT.

It's hard to put into words all that I received from DYU's 200 hour YTT. I moved to Denver under very difficult circumstances, and was questioning my decision until I enrolled in this program – and now I firmly believe I found exactly what I needed, or perhaps it found me. DYU's no-frills, "underground" setting and curriculum was far more enriching than I expected, and there is a well-rounded balance of asana, theory, and meditation/pranayama. I couldn't have asked for better teachers – Derik, Beth, Tushta, and Brenna are incredibly wise, compassionate, and dedicated to their students. I learned so much from them and only wish I had time to learn more, especially from the teachers we didn't get to spend as much time with. Additionally, the level of support and care I received took me by surprise, which is so important to me as I live with chronic illness. I found that the majority of expectations were self-imposed and that -my- yoga had to involve taking care of myself as things came up; DYU absolutely gave me the space and community to do that, and I know I have a home here for years to come.

Very well-rounded, authentic yoga teacher training program! I found out about Denver Yoga Underground through my online searches. From the beginning they provide a clear message about teaching fundamentals of yoga, in-depth principles and personal reflection. This program provided exactly that plus more. We not only delved into physical practice, but we spent a lot of time studying fundamental theory and mediative practice. I would recommend this program to anyone who is interested in yoga teacher training for their personal growth or who wants to learn more about yoga as a spiritual practice. You will receive a lot of wonderful support from Derik, Beth, Brenna and other teachers during your time. This is a program that will continue to change your life even after you graduate!

Do this yoga teacher training, if that is something you have been considering just take the plunge. DYU has incredible knowledgeable instructors with years of experience. You will learn about the ancient traditions of yoga as well as how to teach a class. Upon graduating I know I have everything I need to begin my journey teaching yoga, and I will no doubt continue to take advantage of continuing education with DYU. This program has impacted me in ways that are hard to describe (all for the better) You can definitely feel this program is built on both a love of yoga and betterment of others through skillful teaching. Thank you so much Derik, Brenna, Beth and Tushta!

While searching for yoga teacher trainings I stumbled upon Denver Yoga Underground online and I have to admit that I felt pretty intimidated. Their website was very informative and concise about what the program was (and wasn't) and I could sense the deep respect they had for yoga beyond asana and knew that they required a lot of serious dedication from their students. At first this made me a bit nervous and made me reconsider whether teacher training was even a path that I wanted to pursue, I didn’t quite feel like I could overcome the challenge and commitment at the time. After some soul searching and some things that started popping up in my life, I couldn’t deny that this was a part of my path that I was meant to embrace and walk upon. After talking with Derik on the phone and attending one of his classes I knew that this was the right school for me; not only did he share many of my viewpoints on yoga and the world at large I could tell that he had a wealth of knowledge and experience. I am so glad that I signed up for and completed the 200 hour course! This has impacted me in ways that will continue to resonate for the rest of my life! Not only has it taught me a lot of the deeper aspects of yoga and asana, the process as a whole has given me great strength and confidence in all aspects of my life and personal relationships. I feel more connected to my true self and have a better understanding of my place in the universe. I am forever grateful for what I have learned from my time with Denver Yoga Underground! I would recommend this program to anyone who is serious about personal growth and willing to put in the work.
Thank you for the support Derik, Brenna, Beth and Gene!

Before signing up for the 200 HR Axis Yoga Teacher Training, I attended the practicum presentations of the Fall 2018 graduating class and was very impressed with the students’ knowledge of yoga beyond asana. The students were fully prepared for their practicums and lead us through yoga philosophy/theory, asana, pranayama, and meditation - it was in that moment that I knew that this program was the one for me. After the practicums, I was able to talk with Derik and submitted my application the next day!
My initial hesitation came from Axis not being affiliated with a specific yoga studio in Denver, although they have several partnerships with yoga-based organizations throughout Denver, such as Yoga For The People and Newport Street Retreat. The program prepared me to develop my own sequences, theme classes thoughfully, and teach yoga to people of all abilities - I do not necessarily know if a studio-environment would have provided me with these skills.
Derik and Brenna are the real deal and care deeply about sharing their love of yoga and each of us developing a daily home practice. I’ve developed a completely new relationship with myself after completing this training and attribute this to the number of personal experiments we completed as a part of the curriculum. For example, we did a Yama/Niyama experiment, an Ayurveda experiment, and I also completed Brenna’s 14-Day Spring Cleanse. The time commitment worked great with my schedule and allowed me to take my yoga off the mat and into my life - I will continue to integrate Derik and Brenna’s teachings into my life post-graduation.
I highly recommend Axis Yoga Teacher Training for anyone wanting to focus on classical teachings and dive deep into the psychology of yoga - this program goes WAY beyond the asana and will transform you for the better.

My experience with Axis was truly amazing. I am so pleased with everything I was able to take away and now utilize in my daily life. I created meaningful relationships with my classmates and connected with yoga in a way I didn't know was possible. The curriculum was so well-rounded and the variety of teachers and backgrounds were truly special. This program changed my life and the way I view the world. It allowed me to tap into a version of myself I didn't know existed. So grateful for Derik and Brenna and the gifts and knowledge they share so well with their students.

If you’re looking to learn more about yoga than just the poses this is the place for you! My first 200 YTT experience was in India and I wanted to make sure I found a studio that could expand on all I learned in India. Derik, Brenna, and Sharon’s knowledge base is the kind that can only be acquired through true passion of the subject.

I have loved my yoga teacher training experience with Axis! I was specifically looking for a personal growth experience and deep connections with my class and teachers. What that looked like was a small class size and a space that was one of a kind. I couldn't have crafted a better program! From the peaceful space, class content and outside experiences - gong bath, yoga blessing ceremony, yantra painting, a cleanse, Ayurveda cooking class, personal development - I have loved it! It completely exceeded my expectations.

I graduated from Axis spring program last week. Studying with Derik, Brenna, Susan and Anthony was such a joyful experience. Thank you so much for your kindness and support! I received deep knowledge about Asanas and so much more beyond that. We had experiments set throughout the program so we can apply what we learn in our lifes and had deep discussions. I loved learning more about the sutras and mantras. One my favorites was to study Ayurveda and how it connects with Yoga. Axis is such a rich program and I am so grateful that I was able to study here.

I went through the 200 hour Axis Yoga Teacher Training last spring. It was one of the best experiences of my life. It is very affordable and the schedule makes it easy to balance work and YTT. Derik and Brenna are one of a kind. They really focus on the true culture and history of Yoga. Which I was most fascinated by. If you are looking for a real teacher training program and not just mainstream Yoga teachings, please check them out. You won’t be disappointed! I love Axis and created a family/community with them.

After over a year of researching and comparing 200 HR YTT programs throughout the Denver metro area, I chose Axis - based on cost, location, class schedule and quality of instruction. I came to Axis as a yoga rookie. I was semi-intimidated by yoga, and was hoping to gain in-depth knowledge about the practice. The atmosphere provided by Axis YTT was great -- I left feeling confident and connected. I loved the in-depth study of foundation, and I now share what I learned with my students. Our study of modifications, how to use yoga to heal, ayurveda, and all of the life lessons learned in-between are forever embedded in my memory and will continue to serve myself and my yoga students for years to come. I'm looking forward to seeing what's next for Axis! It was an experience I'll never forget, and was well worth the investment. Plus, the instructors are so kind and genuine. It made the learning experience that much better.

I highly recommend this program for anyone that is seeking a well-rounded, holistic approach to yoga. I took the 200 hr YTT with Axis and have been genuinely surprised by how much impact this experience has had on me. My hope in entering the teacher training was that Axis would prepare me by offering a better understanding of anatomy, classroom awareness and posturing. While I do feel that the program has offered me what I was expecting, I find I am most grateful for the ways the program has impacted my ability to show up (in and outside the classroom) as a more grounded, in-tune, loving version of myself. The expansive teachings on philosophy, meditation, and ayurveda bring so much depth to this YTT. The experiences I've had in this program have had a significant and genuine impact on the way I live and approach my life. To me, the extensive knowledge and sincere intentions that lay in the foundation of Axis' mission are uniquely impactful and will undoubtedly continue to enhance the lives of its participants.

This training has been the most rewarding experience I've had in a long time. My perception of life and yoga in general has changed and I couldn't be happier. This YTT is by far the best in Denver, I looked the curriculum in multiple Yoga Studios and this one had the best and is also more affordable than the others. Every single class blends in perfectly with the following, the extensive knowledge of all the instructors throughout the program has been extremely beneficial in my yoga path. The Ayurveda an Anatomy modules were extremely helpful and have positively impacted my life. I strongly recommend the program even if you don't plan to ever teach, I guarantee you this training will change your life for good.

Axis Yoga teacher training program is one of the best in Denver and in the nation. It is affordable as well as high quality. One can pay choosing from a sliding scale based on his/her financial status in addition to paying installments. The program brings 5 very experienced teachers to offer knowledge, skills, and practices to students. The program includes philosophy, history, meditation, breathing, pranyama, learning about Ayuveda and asana (physical/movement part of yoga). It is well a rounded teacher training program which gives students choices and opportunities to experience and learn about various modalities of yoga practice and be able to have choices to pick from as a teacher.
