The staff is really good and friendly and the flaws seem out of their control. The owner must not care about maintenance as the steam room has been broken since 2018, with no promise of it returning anytime soon (this is still listed as a benefit). A lot of the equipment has either missing seats, or they don’t have enough safety clips for all of the bench presses, squat racks and deadlift stations to be used properly and safely at at the same time. The weekend hours are limited and I was super disappointed to find out they close at 5 on Saturdays and Sunday‘s.

Last time I was there I was prevented from using the bench presses because someone had set up their weights and placed personal items on the machine to prevent anyone else from using them. And I never saw anyone use the benches while I was there. Also, there was only one "functional" leg curl machine and it was rigged wrong so that I had to slam the weights to get a full extension, or not get a full extension.

This gym is very very run down. More thank half the equipment has holes in it. It’s like this was the original golds gym and never got updated. Definitely only worth 10 bucks a month I doubt I’ll come back here. They have a lame boxing gate in the center.why? This isn’t an mma gym. Literally only 5 adjustable benches. I’ve seen planet fitnesses that had a better set up

Cleanliness and poor maintenance lowers the rating for an otherwise nice gym. A complaint to management is usually addressed on the spot but there is no follow up. One week later the same issue comes up and it’s frustrating to see. Trainers do a reasonable job and get results for their clients. Just too bad there doesn’t seem to be any way to hold anyone accountable for poor follow up .

The gym is ok. It has most of the equipment you could ever need. My only issue is that the equipment seems to be poorly maintained and no one seems to really care.

The massage chairs have been broken forever, I think there is one that is now working. The sauna is falling apart.

I've heard they are going through an ownership change. My guess is the current owner does not want to put much money in the place since they are selling.

Updating review since I have to cancel my membership
I went in today to inform I had to cancel and I was given a cancellation form to fill out and they provided information to me when my last payment will be which is August 9… So far after reading all of the negative reviews it wasn’t so bad though I will know more after August 9th if anything more is charged like all of the negative reviews have stated but so far so good it’s still a five star to me
After looking for a gym I liked with what it offers that was close by to where I live I ended up joining Gold’s Gym regardless of the negative reviews of what seems to be more on membership cancellations but I thought I’d give it a try.
So far I love it! The staff is friendly and the Director of fitness is very caring and was very helpful with getting me started on the equipment helping me feel less intimidated and more confident which I was much appreciated since I haven’t ever been a member to a gym like this. I also decided to have a personal trainer to help me with achieving my goals and help me get into a routine. The personal trainer is caring, challenging and motivating. I highly recommend their personal trainer. The only thing I found is that a few of their treadmills need fixed other than that it’s a great place to work out. 🙂

Tried to use the tanning beds on two different occasions but an employee went ahead of me. By the time I got in I was told the plan had changed and tanning was not included. If I would have been told that three days prior when I was bumped for an employee I could have given 30 notice before my monthly payment. Probably for the best...I went a few times in the fall and nobody swept the floors. There was debris for 4 days in a row.

A post at the front door states that face masks are mandatory. However, their staff does not wear face masks. The man at the front desk had his face mask pulled down under his chin and the two other staff members I saw did not wear masks. Several people working out in the gym were not wearing masks. The staff should be professional and uphold their own policy.

Great gym and great people. The biggest issue this gym has is taking care of what they’ve got. This gym is TERRIBLE at keeping their equipment maintained. Currently: 1 smith machine is broke , the other on its way (it grips and shakes when you press). Their leg press also needs to be repaired. It works but is terrible for your knees because the slides are all gunked up with old oil. Multiple other machines have been out for weeks because of Upholstery being repaired. I’ve been to many gyms and this is normal but it should be a two day turn around for being repaired not weeks. They also have certain free weight incline benches that need bolts tightened because the seat or backpress is shaky. They are also very hesitant to make investments in new equipment even simply rope attachments. Golds gym has been revered as body building gyms since they started up in Cali way back in the day. These issues having machines out for weeks. Smith machines that are broke, can really hinder people’s programs.

I cancelled my membership back in December not because of the facilities or staff just because I was moving. I filled out the paperwork for the cancellation back then and nearly 4 months later they’re telling me the lost my paperwork and that I owe 4 months of dues. They tell my wife a certain piece of equipment that she has used for over a year is now only part of the vip membership. Ok. Let us out of our contract. Nope. They change the rules to benefit them with no way out for us. Manager wouldn’t even call me back, they had someone else be the messenger. I looked at three other gyms along with Gold's and ended up choosing Gold's. The layout is close to perfect and the amenities are great! As of right now, there's 3 different membership options for different budgets. The only thing I could critique the gym on is that there aren't enough benches in the dumbbell station. I can never work my way in and end up having to skip a lift or improvise.

The "month to month" is a scam. You're better off going to a gym with a contract since you get charged every month without your consent, you cannot call to "cancel at anytime like they tell you. You have to go in person which for someone that travels for work was impossible for me to do for almost of year of calling them telling them i can't possibly go in person to cancel. And to top it all off they have the audacity to charge you one last month when you go to cancel "at anytime", they still find a way to take more money from you. Signs say mask wearing is required. Most people are walking around without a mask. Staff and children in the childcare had no masks this morning. It is rare to see people with masks on. BAD BUSINESS PRACTICES!

This Gold's gym closed down for COVID. I initially asked for the account to frozen because I didn't want to be charged for something I was not using.

After being told my account was frozen, they tried to charge me again. I disputed the charge, blocked them as a merchant, and called to cancel my account.

I received an email today stating they were going to send the disputed charge to collections.

Absolutely terrible, do not even walk into the door! I went to the gym and looked into the contract. The front desk said they couldn't provide the fine print of my membership contract until after I signed, I didn't sign and walked out. Then, weeks later, I found my bank account charged on two different occasions. When I brought this to the attention to the billing/payment department, they confirmed the mistake and said my bank account will be reimbursed in full within 5-7 business days.... that was 20 business days ago.
ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE!!! If anyone has recommendations on how to resolve this issue, I am open for any suggestions.

I have only been a member for a few weeks, but I love this place! It's really clean, and busy enough to be fun but I'm always able to get on the machine I want. Props to my awesome trainer Ben. Thanks to my teenager's (somewhat friendly) body shaming Ben aggressively helped me meet my goal to be in best shape of my life by age 50. He motivated me and adjusted my workout routine and diet to lose half my body fat (22% to 11%) and go from a waist size 36 to 33 in six months. He also pushed me to get bloodwork to address my fatigue which identified a health condition I am now able to address to improve my life. He manages a group of professionals and goes above and beyond for his clients. He changed my mindset now to "train and eat like an athlete to look like an athlete" and it's made all the difference.

Just joined Gold's Gym after doing a week free trial. My wife has been a member for four years. We have three small children and utilize the child care center they offer. Adding me to the membership was a breeze and to my surprise did not have the effect on the wallet we were expecting. Golds gym is a great option for body builders in this area. That being said, they are missing key equipment, frequently sell important equipment like benches, and do not replace them. Multiple pieces of working equipment have been sold leaving benches and weights over crowded. Many cardio pieces are broken with sticky buttons and dirty, dusty pedals. Room has been added but at the expense of great equipment which in a body builders opinion is not an adequate trade off. In addition, the facility is not very clean. Last week I went to tan and rolled into a bed full of someone else’s sweat and lotion when it was supposed to be clean. There is hair underneath the glass in the tanning beds and hasn't been cleaned in what appears to be months.
For the average gym goer this gym is just fine. The staff is really friendly however it is lacking overall.

I have been a member for 11 years. I Was excited about the ownership change and all of the "promises". They did make some good changes. However now they are selling a TON of good, functioning equipment, and arent replacing any of it. Including benches - they didn't have enough to begin with. Wow, I used to brag and refer to Gold’s gym all the time!!! Being a member since 2015 and working for a local Doctor, we have referred a lot of people. Due to schedule changes I had to stop going to classes and tried to cancel my membership about a year ago in 2018. I was told no managers were available both times I tried to come in and cancel. The front desk was able to at least reduce my costs and I was on a month to month. No contract. Well 2019 comes along, still haven’t been to The gym in now over a year. My debit card changed and I get a call to update my card. I kindly decline and said I want to cancel my membership once again. Finally I was emailed the paperwork to cancel. Then I got 4 phone calls from managers telling me they refuse to cancel my membership until I pay last months dues. Then I was told I would be sent to collections if I didn’t pay? $25 bucks Gold’s Gym!!! You really want bad reviews over that?!!! I’m so shocked!! Wow!!! so you can’t take the money from all the months I paid and didn’t use the services?!!! And was told multiple times I couldn’t cancel because no managers were ever there to complete it? I actually really enjoyed going there for 2 years and loved Jan's Bodyflow class, but when I went to cancel (I had a baby and couldn't afford it), they told me I still had to pay for a month and the annual fees even though I hadn't gone for almost the entire year! This gym was Muv Fitness before it got bought out. I was a member for a couple months before Gold's gym moved in. I signed a year agreement with Muv fitness in July, I wanted to cancel my membership in the beginning of October because I was moving and I tried but Gold's gym told me I can't until I move. So I waited, right before I did move they charged me $60 that I did not know I would get charged for especially because I had stopped going and was moving. The girl told me they couldn't refund me my money that was basically wasted here.
After I moved I sent them the cancellation form and they said they are going to charge me another month even though I sent in my cancellation well before my next bill date. So I wasted almost $90 on this gym. They honestly were not helpful to me at all and not understanding. This process was very complicated and no one was very clear to me what I should do. I want my money back. The customer service was very poor and they were not very informative to me. I am very disappointed for putting my money towards this.

This gym is literally terrible. It’s run down (the rower literally broke while I was using it and then the next one didn’t have a battery), it’s absolutely DISGUSTING clearly the employees don’t clean or pick up anything (no clips or chalk is ever in the buckets). They constantly move the equipment or just plain get rid of them so you never know where anything is. The managers are literally never there. I had to come in multiple times just to freeze my account and when I finally got a manager and explained the situation and how frustrated I was she still made me pay a fee (one of course I was never talked to about when I first signed up when it was originally Muv) real nice customer service. I then asked about tanning and asked what level the beds were and she didn’t even know. This place just has horrible management and employees need to pick up and clean at the end of the night.

The stars are for the instructors only. It's obvious this gym is focused on the body-building market, not classes, not cleanliness, not interested in concerns of long-time members. The ladies' showers are not being kept as clean as they used to be, the yoga/pilates room has been relegated to the worst and dirtiest room in the building. I'll be looking for another gym - maybe the new one in Loveland....so sad. It has been a great gym for me and my husband, but things do change!

They're currently making updates to the facility and the equipment. They've opened up more space and have added some nice new equipment.

I've been going to this gym for 8 years and have never had a problem until the transition back to Gold's. The managers are not friendly, helpful or sympathetic towards the customers dealing with changes. It's also very upsetting they cancelled daycare on Sundays. For those of us parents who work during the week it's hard to make it in all the times, now we lost one day of availability since they took away a weekend option for us. We tried talking with Danielle the manager and she acted like she didn't even care and blamed it on "upper management ". They also have a new mind and body studio for yoga classes which we tried out for the first time last night, it was small, dirty and incredibly hot. There was rocks all over the floors, bugs and grease! My mom got grease all over her yoga mat and when she told the front desk ladies she was told just to use good gone, without one apology! I have already signed up for the new gym in town and as soon as they open up I will be cancelling my membership, however if things continue the way they are going I might cancel early and join another gym in the meantime. The only positive thing keeping me there is the daycare staff and class instructors. They are all so nice, very helpful and knowledgeable as well as sympathetic about all the changes.
