Multiple calls multiple emails to get the tanning removed off of my membership. Three months after and I’m still being charge for tanning I don’t use. Every time I called to try and take care of it I’m told I have to come in and no one can help me over the phone. They have no problems charging me but will not help discontinue that part of my membership. Gosh I wish I wasn’t wrapped in for a year it’s been a nightmare and it feels like it’s only just begun. I’m so frustrated I don’t even know what words I could write down to explain how unprofessional this i’m so frustrated I don’t even know what words I could write down to explain how unprofessional this gym is. I own my own business and would never talk to customers the way I’ve been dealt with so far. Super bummed

It's an alright gym. Really pricey for nothing being included what so ever. I would NOT recommend getting a trainer there at all! The communication within the building...I'll just say they need to take a class.

Some (If the shoe fits) of the employees here need to take a month off and work for Chick Fil A during that time to learn customer courtesy skills. No one is going to take your cool card from you if you say "Hello" or "Have a good day".

Don't get roped into their contract, they can, and will, continue to charge you after you cancel. Dealing with them while you cancel what like dealing with a pissed off teenager. Very unprofessional

I've been a member at the former Gold's Gym before they made the switch to MUV Fitness and I must say that the changes made since the gym has become MUV are phenomenal. Everything from the "challenge" to the added group fitness classes and increased functional fitness area. This gym has it all! great amenities, friendly staff, and knowledgable trainers. Highly recommended!

I have been a member since this gym opened. Have stayed because I have a good rate. Horrible experience with CHRIS the GENERAL MANAGER today. He is rude and disrespectful. I guess he does not care that I have many options for gym memberships. He also must not care that this facility is consistently in a state of filth and disrepair. I am wondering what the health department might think??

Have gone to this gym over a year and it started out great with a low key relaxed vibe. They made changes over the past 6 months that have made it over crowded and over priced. I was counting down the days for my contract to be up which was today. I went in to cancel, they had already charged me and said any charges in the next thirty days will be added because I guess it takes a month to cancel my membership on a computer. Out way too much money but glad to never have to go back.
Side note: also used their tanning services which required payment for two months up front for old level 1 beds at best.

Left a bad review over a month age which was not fair to blame the entire gym for one guy having a bad day. I have been a member for over 3 years And have seen changes just this last month Very excited for the gym to be headed in a new direction away from the old golds way..congrats MUV on moving forward

Very upset and frustrated and quite frankly pissed off that they lied to my face saying they wouldn't withdraw money after canceling my membership which they did. I would recommend recording them whenever you want to cancel your membership so you have proof that they lied to you. Front desk isn't helpful at all. Don't recommend this place at all they only care about you when you are giving them your money.
And no, I was NOT under contract with you when you stole my money.

We drive 15-20 minutes a day to use this gym specifically for the kid care (which is great!). My boyfriend, his kiddo, and myself love to play basketball together and only do so when the gym is empty so not to disturb anyone. Today, I asked for a basketball. Kid care is from 8 to 1pm. The middle aged blonde woman at the front desk told me that kids are only allowed in there between 2 and 4. I pointed out that the gym was completely empty and since kid care ends at 1 we would have to leave for an hour and then come back. Basically, we can't play basketball. She just says "yup."

My boyfriend goes up about two minutes, makes the same points, and applies the same logic and she says "ok."

I don't know if it was because I'm a woman or she realized that it was ridiculous, but either it was frustrating to say the least.

There are better gyms out there that don't actively work to screw you out of every penny. Take it from me- the effort that it takes to leave gold's gym is far greater than you could ever imagine.

UPDATE: This is a new name but has the same financial management company running it, so my previous rating remains the same. MUV Fitness (previously Gold's Gym) is absurdly hard to leave. Or rather, they don't care if you leave- you're going to keep paying for it forever, either way.

Great MUV to change from Gold's Gym!! It is a friendlier atmosphere since the switch. The staff and trainers are great and always willing to help. They have great equipment. One of my favorite places. We've been members for a few years and always enjoy the atmosphere and staff. Everyone we encounter is very helpful and personable. I enjoy almost ALL of the group fitness classes, the instructors are all wonderful and extremely helpful when teaching classes. I've taken everything from zumba, Body Step, Cycle to the Beat, Body Pump, Body attack all the way down to yoga.
I love being challenged by the awesome group of teachers at MUV fitness, I'd highly recommend any of these classes to any one. New members or long time.. MUST TRY at least one of each.

After reading some reviews, I'd like to also add: the instructors don't know unless you tell them. If you feel like the music isn't loud enough or you think they are being too quiet. I'm CERTAIN they would welcome feedback, also on the sign in sheets there are areas to place your comments regarding class.

TRY ANOTHER CLASS, I promise you wont be disappointed.

Spin class very frustrating. You can not hear the instructor. You can't teach a class if we cant hear you. Two years i have asked to have this fixed. Sadly i belong to a second club so i can have a spin class with an instructor. New lights and a new look doesn't help if you cant hear the instructor. 😢

I really enjoy working out here. The staff is friendly and the clientele all seem to be good people who are serious about working out. My only complaint (and its a big one for me) is that EVERY television in the weight area play the same bad music videos. This would be great if I were a 15 year old girl, but most of us who lift there are grown ass men and women. How 'bout playing a football game on a few of those TV's so we don't all have to gather around the cardio area for score updates?

I love this gym. Such a great place to workout and focus on my health goals.
From the incredible and attentive front desk staff when you walk in, to the friendly and helpful managers and trainers who all help to create a positive workout environment.

And I especially like the opportunity to finish my day in the sauna and recover with a great smoothy.

Joined with a family membership after we moved nearby with young kids. Immediately after joining we had several negative experiences with the "kids club". Despite several attempts to work with management including a face-to-face meeting scheduled at their request and convenience, costumer service has been terrible! This particular Gold's Gym seems to be more interested in sticking you to a long term contract than forming a beneficial relationship with its customers. I strongly recommend avoiding this gym.

Why would a gym need 30 days notice to cancel a membership? I can't think of any other reason than to screw over people who have been loyal customers for years and to squeeze one more month of dues from them. I'll never go to another Gold's Gym.

The gym amenities and size are great. However, the customer service is sub par. Gold's finance company neglected to change all of the ACH records after I contacted them with the new banking info. Then one day we were surprised when they denied me and my son entry to the club for non payment of dues with absolutely zero notice. I then had to bring in my bank register showing the funds transferred from the account and also showing how their finance company dropped the ball. The manager offered no apology and appeared to be annoyed. There is a Planet Fitness opening in May just a couple blocks away, may have to check it out.

currently a member and plan to change it up soon.

Also, I know a good deal of the people in the community here. I'd go as far to say they are in general a really accepting and fun crowd. However, the gym has not evolved in the last few years that I have been there, its my main reason for leaving. I give it three stars because it is indeed, adequate, but not enough to truly excel in, unless you are doing figure comps. I don't use personal training, but I do know the trainers there, and for the most part, they are on top of their respective games. I do suggest meeting them in person first though.

also, all the perks that the gym has added, come at a cost. another reason I am leaving.

Finally I noted a lot of people who have left 5/5 are current, or former employees.

summation, adequate weights, cardio, and gym facilities. Nothing stellar to rave about, four years and no real evolution in the gym, plus, a large customer base and VERY high traffic at rush hours. and maybe the rating is inflated. I have had no beef with management though. (personally)

thanks-

Over the course of the last 10 years I have had a chance to go to a lot of different guns between here and Fort Collins. My time at Gold's Gym as a member was fine, an average local gym.
My time spent trying to CANCEL my gym membership has been terrible. You work with an offsite company which you must call and put quite a bit of homework into figuring out how to cancel your membership, then you might not "do it exactly right" and they will deny your attempt to cancel and request that you send another certified letter.
If you ever want to NOT be a Gold's Gym member, do not sign up because trying to cancel will be difficult, stressful, frustrating, and TIME CONSUMING.
Gold's- please figure out a better solution. It is not the gym member's job to do all this back end work and figure out the dreadful details of how to cancel memberships. Read your google reviews, EVERYONE is complaining about the SAME thing: gym cancellation- the only good reviews are obviously written by gym employees. Make a better name for yourself in this small community, and find a better solution for your members.

I have had concerns/suggestions in the past and it seems like they address them quickly. My only complaint at this point is that they tend to be expensive. I have been a member for about 7 years now and have purchases personal training sessions off and on during this time. Most recently to get my price down to $55 a session, I had to agree to purchase 6 sessions. I am thinking next time I will purchase personal training through The Chilson Center where 5 sessions fare only $189. Seems like a much better deal than $275 for 5 at Golds. Also, I have wanted friends to join Golds and their membership prices seem pretty high compared to other gyms.

The gym equipment and classes were adequate. If service to the community and stellar reputation were one of Gold's Gym's goals, they'd certainly fail. After honoring a 1 year contract and notifying management of home location change ahead of the end of my contract, the gym forced an additional monthly charge to my account past the contract end date before officially canceling. It seems the standard gym membership contract is archaic.....and so was Blockbuster; I can say, I'm much happier with Netflix....and without a Gold's Gym membership.

I've been a member at Gold's for a little over a month now and am really enjoying the atmosphere there. I have gone in to work out at different times of the day and never have had a problem getting on a machine whether it's cardio or weights. The staff is very helpful and friendly. They are quick to repair if a machine goes down, unlike other gyms I've belonged to in the past. The gym and locker rooms are clean and well kept which is another benefit. They have multiple machines of the same type to accommodate everyone, that is great as other gyms I've belonged to have not had enough equipment. The members are cordial which is also a plus and the hours are great as well. I would say the one thing they need more of is dumbell weights especially in the 10 to 30 pound range and a swimming pool as I am a swimmer. Other than that I really enjoy Gold's and am glad to be a member.

Deceptive contract practices.

Lack of equipment upgrades/Broken rundown gear.

Extremely dissapointed with how you have handled a long term customer.

Misleading sales practices and an attitude of "take it or leave it" is garbage. Andrew, Golds is responsible for all representations that past and present employees make. I am not surprised just dissapointed. A lesson for me in not trusting a local company to live up to what they represented which is now false. Word of mouth goes along way in Northern Colorado

They are very friendly at the facility the few times we were there, however when your contract is finally up, the loop holes we had to go through to get this cancelled were ridiculous. We originally got a number of the local club to call in order to cancel because you can't cancel your membership by going to the club. The number they originally gave us then told us we needed to call a different number. After calling that number, they said we had to do it by going into the club??? So we called the club again, who then gave us a different number. This number was actually one of the few that you were not on hold for 20 min. Now to cancel our membership, we have to send a certified letter to an address... ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? It took 2 days of making phone calls to get to this point and we still have to send a certified letter. If you are committed to using Golds Gym forever, then it's the gym for you.

The web site has irritated me. When I tried to check out their membership options, I am told to "enroll" first for the 7 day VIP pass. But, gee, guys. What if I don't WANT to even try you out after I check rates and figure out you are too expensive or that I just don't like the plan? THEN you have my information so that you can spam me and send junk mail. No thanks. If they won't be up front about their plans and rates then I don't trust 'em. Not one little bit.
