Gabby taught the beginner bouldering class with exquisite precision and care. She metered out a boat load of information at an absorbable pace. It was so well done my friend and I signed up for a comp with one hour of experience under our beltsππ»

Consistent rating, good vibes, very good coverage for problems across all ratings.
It gets hot in hot summer days.. yes.. but..

Not beginner friendly. Inconsistent grading in the gym and very unapproachable problems in the β5 dotβ range (whatever that means).
The gym is also incredibly hot, like probably eclipsing 85-90 degrees in some areas. Definitely not worth the monthly membership cost.

Fun climbing gym for bouldering! The staff seems friendly and the standard gym on the second floor is fully equipped with workout equipment that you would typically want. Would recommend to anyone!

Had a great time! The bouldering routes were fun and diverse, I could see my self coming back here again during future vacations. The employee working at the front, Miles, was very kind and helpful. Definitely recommend coming here for a good workout and an enjoyable time.

im a member at the spot.
This location had 4 loose holds and one loose volume last time I went.
I didn't bother even telling them after finding the third loose hold- they clearly do not care enough for me to trust that they fill properly fix it.

βclosed spinnerβ
- cost: increased
- employees socializing at front desk: 2
- employees maintaining facilities: 0?
Why is it easier to tape a sign and leave a route closed for days than just fix the route once a spinner is found? And why are unstable routes so frequently set here? I have never seen this practice anywhere except in the last 6 months at this location. Iβd get it if membership were not more expensive than luxurious health clubs, but enough is enough. Please be mindful of your business and respectful of your customers, divas π

I've been climbing at The Spot for a few years and it is definitely the best bouldering gym that I have been to. The route setting is fantastic and all of the staff are super friendly. I highly recommend checking out The Spot if you want try climbing for the first time or if you are a long time climber looking to try a new gym.

The Spot is great. The location in Boulder is the original, i.e. oldest, location and it shows but it's still great. Unlike BRC, The Spot Boulder is bouldering-specific. Other Spot locations have rope climbing and auto-belays but this location does not.
There's a gym area upstairs which is a little dingy but it has a rack, weights and overall super solid. Compared to BRC I found the crowd steered younger. Whether that's a positive or negative depends on the vibe you want.
No complaints. I've had a membership for over a year and plan on continuing to have one.

Awesome places to climb! Very challenging routes but super fun to climb on. I enjoyed projecting a hard boulder here as much as I enjoyed projecting an outdoor boulder. There aren't many volumes or volume settings, granted that the kind of wall they have is not permitting, I would still love to see some more creative way of using volumes around here

I wanted to cancel my monthly recurring membership with them. I messaged them through their website chat messenger, but they never responded. I ended up losing my debit card, cancelled the card, and soon began receiving multiple borderline harassing emails that they could not process the payment and that my account would be frozen and a penalty would be need to be paid to reactivate my account. At that point, I was under the impression my account was closed. I eventually received a new debit card, but The Spot continued trying to charge my old debit card, and Visa eventually pushed the charge through onto my new debit card. I was given no notice from The Spot that my card had been charged and that my account was reactivated. I had been paying for the past 2 months without any type of notice, and I thought my account had been frozen. My friend also had a poor experience trying to close his account. This company has poor business pratices

I work at a climbing gym over in Burlington, VT, and I feel like a lot of gyms I go to outside of Vermont have kinda inconsistent grading. Some V5s feel like V2s and vice-versa. The spot kills it with all of their boulders. The grades feel right in line with what theyβre marked as, and thereβs a really cool variety of climbs there! Also the back wall with all of the natural features is super rad, Iβll definitely be recommending this gym to all of the climbing homies!

Visited while on travel, and this gym is officially tied in first place for the most fun climbing gym I've ever been to. Every route, regardless of whether or not I knew I was going to flash it, was an absolute blast. The walls and holds were suitably clean (the fastest way to lose stars in a review!), and the pseud-realistic texture of the walls is a unique touch.
As a whole, the gym itself is an excellent bang for your buck. In particular the discounted day passes on Fridays. Should I find myself in the area again, I will absolutely be returning.

This is almost a historic place and rightfully so -- people here are chill but some are strong AF, and staff is very friendly, setting is nice. It's unusual to have the classic taped holds setting, so might take some more effort to read problems and follow the right holds.
After my visit, I do think it is a bit overhyped, though. It's evident that the gym is rather old by today's standards. I did not find the hold selection to be very modern, there are almost no volumes. I also couldn't find any telescoping brushes to clean the (very dirty) holds. While the setting is good, I did not find it much better compared to other gyms I've been to.

This climbing gym is not a good climbing gym. It was 25 dollars for a day pass which in my opinion is a little pricey for the quality of the gym. The holds do not seem to be cleaned in between resets the staff is friendly but overall one of the most underwhelming gyms Iβve been to.

This is an amazing place to come and boulder. The place is huge and complete with nice restroom facilities and a place to store your gear. And then the walls - they have everything from lower walls, to a cave, and a massive wall that is downright scary to drop from. The route setting is well done with unique holds and appropriate ratings.

Amazing gym. The walls and features are so unique and pretty. Youβll find every hold you can think of in this gym. The setting here is some of the best youβll find. The spot Boulder was my home gym for nearly 5 years while I was living in Colorado and I miss it terribly. I had another gym down the street and I still drove the 20mins 3-4x days a week to climb here. The variety of routes is unparalleled and the staff is just fantastic, really can't say enough about these folks. I've been to a lot of climbing gyms all over the country and this is one of the last bastions of the old style of taped hold setting. The walls have higher hold density and the routes overlap giving you infinitely more variety in style. On that note: the route setters do an absolutely fantastic job creating interesting and unique climbs for all levels. It's also still home to a lot of the old school van-life climbers and the regulars are really down to earth. It's just got a great overall community.
Much love from NC βπ»Keep crushin'

I was a little bummed when I climbed, because the main bouldering island had no climbs set and the majority of the back wall was being reset. The most frustrating aspect for me was the grading system. Iβve seen four grading systems inside bouldering gyms and this is by far the most complicated to understand. The staff were very nice, especially Nathan. Overall, a nice bouldering gym, but could be remodeled and ideally use the V scale grading system.

anyone complaining about the tape doesnβt know what they are talking about. The tape is a BONUS. It gives the routesetters way more freedom when they have access to every hold in their arsenal vs if itβs only one color pffft. More hold variety per route = cooler routes duh. The routes here are some of the coolest of any gym I have been to keep doing what youβre doing!

For $25 per day pass (more than all the other front range gyms, including movement), they could at least buy matching holds and get rid of the tape. I have only been one day since the merge with Evo, and was not impressed. Overly loud, bad music that screamed 23-year old dude + the new high price tag ruined the vibe for me. Pro: definitely not busy!

Overall a decent climbing gym (3 star compared to Seattle Bouldering Project or other top tier gyms). Grades are a little all over the place (5 dot system, but a 3- feels equivalent to a V0, so they only use half of their scale). The walls types are overhang dominated (they have maybe 2 small slab sections that don't get any love from the setters). The setting is its main redeeming quality and has been great so far. Culture-wise, maybe a little bro-y; significantly more male dominated than BRC. S&C is definitely nicer at BRC, but they do have all the essentials.
