Wonderful place, with a great atmosphere and cool climbs! I was visiting from the UK and, as it was my first time at the gym, the fee for shoes was waived (YMMV!) and they even lent me a bag of chalk!

Cannot recommend highly enough :)

Lovely bouldering gym. The grading system is a bit strange, but it felt nice to just try climbs rather than prejudging them before an attempt. I will be back however, & I will use their easy to follow guide on how to identify their grading system compared to the v rating system (the name escapes me) more common in the US. There is a bar, presumably for parents to hang out while watching their children climb, but you can also just, grab a drink after you're done if you are so inclined. A nice, quaint commodity methinks. There also appeared to be a full "fitness area" gym. I will explore that & report back at another time! The climbing was fantastic though. I especially enjoyed the lateral puzzles they had on their back slab wall. Just a light taste of adrenaline.

It is definitely the spot. A lot of route variability with plenty of interesting and unique movement applications. Plus board games and beer and several locations to freely choose from with one membership? Hell yeah. Not to mention 2 guest passes PER DAY for first time guests! Every one of my friends will have a free session here in the coming months

My favorite climbing gym in denver. The bouldering problems are varied and it's just a good place to meet up with people. I will note the climbs are on the more difficult end of the spectrum but there's plenty to climb for everyone. There's a bar there with beer on tap for when you finish climbing and want a drink, nice touch.

I have not been able to find free parking nearby but there's metered parking on that street and also a couple pay lots that charge a nominal rate

Hands down my favorite gym Ive ever been to.

Finally, a gym with good music. I never thought Id find you. I spent years scouring the earth - kings of leon battering my brain, tennessee whiskey bludgeoning my colon, techno beckoning me to the edge.

Its here. A gym with good music. Think liquids, pylon, television, plastix, modettes, stuff like that.

Anyway this is a large bouldering-only gym that has a custom grading system (I never did figure it out) and a very large variety in style. Lots of incline variation for the walls. Cubbies and hangers for folks, a gym area, easily accessible water fountains.

Setting is fantastic here - challenging but achievable on the lower ends for fuddy duddies like myself.

They have a small ares where you can have a beer (no climbing after of course). Really liked the selection and they showcase Colorado brewers very well.

All in, this seriously was my favorite gym Ive ever been to and I hope I can come back someday. It was busy but friendly and energetic.

Just visiting the city for a couple days. Thought I'd try this spot out. Ended up having one of the funnest, most engaging solo climbing sessions I ever had. Makes me wish I could could visit again sooner than later. Route setting was probably the best I've seen. The distribution of the different grades and styles I found was very good too

Two stars, one for each board and 1 more for the friendly staff and vibe.
Positives: Tension 2, Kilter Board and Temperature.
Negatives: Payed Parking, limited shop and the style of climbs (Modern).
If you enjoy modern climbing; big holds, standing on Volumes, awkward Dynos, few crimps and not climbing outside this gym will fit your needs. It's odd that this location has such a different feel to the rest which align more towards outdoor climbing.

Popped in while on vacation to kill an hour in the late afternoon. It’s been many years since I’ve been to a bouldering gym but I was made to feel immediately welcome and comfortable by the team member who checked me in. They provided a great overview of the gym and got me set up with rentals (shoes were in good shape and sanitized) and I got to climbing right away. It was a quiet time of day to come which was perfect for me since I was solo and out of climbing shape. All other climbers were super chill and I didn’t feel intimidated or unwelcome at any point. I loved spotting the awesome weight lifting section of the gym and would definitely return and use that as well on a future trip.

Another 5 star gym in Colorado! It's got old school vibes in the best way possible. The setting is just exceptional, the staff are so friendly, and that bleeds into the community which is just truly so welcoming and wonderful. I've been to a handful of CO gyms that are massive and just immaculate, but I cant make friends to save my life. But every time I'm here, it just seems like everyone is a friend of mine.

As an old school rope climber, I can't get enough of the spot!

Me and my boyfriend are from Calgary - we are avid climbers from the Bow Valley of Canada.

I've been climbing for over 12 years where my days as a climber are borne from old-school gyms as in the walls were built from the 1970's, taped routes, and the facilities were chalky, a little dusty, and exuded that dungeon-esque vibe. A lot of those gyms have since reno'd to the now pristinely clean, open-concept, and more new-school comp setting.

Coming to The Spot was like jumping back into time and I was 10000% here for it. Absolutely loved the setting which was technical, crimpy, hugely beta-driven and mimicked outdoor rock movement. The photos taken do not give any justice to how (surprisingly) large this facility actually is where the sheer number of walls and problems to climb on is impressive. The training area had a good variety of hangboards and training boards (kilter/campus/tension), along with a weight-training section. It kept me and my partner busy for nearly 4 hours where we bouldered till we had no skin left. I wish there more gyms like this in my own city. If I ever come back to Denver, I would not blink an eye at paying the $26 fee to climb here again.

The setting is basically unbeatable. I'm gonna guess they share setters with the other spot locations because it's always great. Honestly only negative is the boulder location never seems to have hot water, but I may just be unlucky. Still worth the cost freezing showers be damned.

Parking lots are all around. $4 parking on Saturday. Gym is a bit older/dusty, but not too bad. Walls are shorter. Holds are mainly Rock Candy/Pusher/Flathold. Setting is technical with lots of great moves. NOT comp style and almost no volumes. I think we counted 7 wood volumes in the gym. Most are older. No Dimension, Fit, Blocz, etc. Would go back for the nice technical setting.

Was in town for a few days and needed a quick work out.

Bought a day pass for $26 and spent a good 3-4 hours bouldering as well as getting a lift session inside their gym. It's a full gym- squat rack, smith machine, barbells and dumbbells.

Friendly staff up front.

Will go back again!

Great gym! I went with my friend for the first time today and had a great time. I’m a beginner and I felt appropriately challenged on the routes and there were plenty of different options for me to try. It wasn’t too busy on a Sunday which was nice. Everyone there was super friendly, they have a bar with drinks, puzzles, games to play, and it sounds like there’s even trivia on certain days too! I’ll have to come back another time soon, it seems like a really good community and is very family friendly.

Friendly staff, lots of interesting problems of all grades. Note, they use a non-standard grading system here of 'spots' with plus or minus. I would prefer seeing standard grading, but just a minor nitpick.

This location has the some of my favorite cave/overhung bouldering in the area, and has consistently been set with interesting problems and movements every time I've visited. Plenty of variety in all the walls, a nice training area with hangboards and a moonboard, and beer on tap!

Plenty of street parking, however most require meter payment and are limited to two hours. Didn't notice an option to park anywhere else for free.

Biggest reason for my rating is due to the day pass price of $25, which I believe makes it the most expensive gym, bouldering and top rope/lead climbing included, in the entire Denver area. They offer student/military discounts which knock off $6, but still too pricey for just bouldering. Monthly or annual memberships are also offered, but without any roped climbing, that wouldn’t be an option for me.

Overall a great place to boulder, but pricing and limited parking options will make me utilize other gyms more often.

Very nice facility, but honestly didn’t feel very welcoming or like there’s much “community” as is emphasized in their marketing unless you already belong to the club, so to speak. I purchased an intro level monthly pass and went in 4 times in a month. Hard to find routes/problems for someone who is a beginner + (used to climb more pre Covid but have been out of the game for a few years). Also, if you go in the afternoon the gym is very crowded with kids and teenagers, which is not really posted anywhere in advance so you just have to deal with there being kids all over the place, often with no gym etiquette. Front desk staff is pretty laissez faire, they don’t really greet or interact with people much.
I joined hoping to find some community and a new hobby, but really just found a crowded gym that doesn’t feel very inclusive for beginners or newcomers. Just my perception/experience. Ended up canceling my membership bc it’s not exactly affordable either.

I can’t say much to the facility as I am not into bouldering, but the facility looks amazing, and is very well kept. I will speak on the staff. I had an encounter very close to the store and several staff members came out to my aid and were beyond nice. The amount of compassion that they showed me was unreal. They invited me into the gym to have a seat and get cleaned up. They called help for me. They offered to give me snacks and drinks to make sure I was OK. And you could tell they weren’t doing it to be nice you could tell that’s just how these dudes roll. They’re just good dudes looking out for other people and honestly maybe I’m jaded but I feel like that’s lacking nowadays especially in downtown Denver. So, although I can’t speak to the business itself, I can tell you that the people working there are absolutely amazing, caring, real people. So I can imagine if this is your thing, this would be the place to go. I can only imagine the amount of care and attention they put towards their business and their customers if that’s how they treat strangers. I will be coming here to learn bouldering because the guys offered so I’ll update this when I actually go and use the facilities but I have no doubt that this is the best bouldering gym in the United States just based off the staff.

One of the oldest gyms and it does not disappoint.

10/10 will climb again.

All boulders. Excellent setting.

The grading system is unique, I dont dislike it but they have 1-5 spots with plusses and minuses used to designate grade variation. Its essentially the same as grading v5+ or - but with a little more wiggle room by grouping grades into a larger swath.

This doesnt take away from the quality of the facility, just creates more of the same grading disparities.

May as well just use one specific color to identify route difficulty.

Either way grading isn't a perfect science but in regards to leaving a review of this facility it seemed worth mentioning the specific process crested at The Spot.

But lets not kid one another. Climb whatever entices you and do your best.

However, I really wish they sent a more direct email or something in preparation for the nationals. I understand it's a big deal but without looking through the newsletter you would not have known only 35% of the climbs were still there. They also closed coffin/north west early for some reason

★ 3

Decent amount of gym equipment. Some really good problems. With a great staff and atmosphere. Minus one star because the grading is wildly inconsistent. Some 3+ (V3-4) are nails where as some 4's (V5-6) are easy as pie. The climbs are fun regardless though and the setters force some wild moves occasionally, so I suppose all I'm saying is don't take the grades at face value.

Edit: Minus additional star for leaking roofs which typically close off 1/5 of each wall in the gym. I've been coming here for around a year and since I've been coming here the roof always leaks when it rains/snows. Given the amount of time this issue has been going on and the amount they charge for membership. This issue should have been seen to long ago.

Been climbing for a while now and I really enjoy it! it's a fun workout, that still forces you to really think and improve. They charge 5$ for shoes, which isn't bad since buying your own can cost upwards of 150$ depending on brand. I will say I agree that the routes are sometimes rated weird? right now I can only generally climb at 2-3 star routes, but sometimes they seem very off on how difficult they are (either too easy or much harder than they're labled.) That being said, I'm sure that varies from person to person as well.

if you have the extra money, this is totally a worthwhile gym experience to spend it on. I look forward to visiting the other locations soon once I move to the west side of Denver and am closer to them.

The staff here were super friendly more specifically Tristan was helpful and outgoing with super good energy. Overall very few complaints about this gym it is modern and has a large amount of wall space for boulders. The COVID rules are reasonable other than 2 people allowed on the kilterboard at a time. I like the training area but wish they had combined the weights and the hang boards or added grippul/pinch blocks. Pads felt great and they also have a little bar to hang out at with beer taps after you climb.

Favorite place to climb in Denver, they rotate the walls every couple weeks and have a good mix of routes for all skill sets. Bring your mask and you'll have good time!

Visiting Denver for work and picked this place to do some bouldering. It was a great choice! No sign up fee so it was reasonably priced to show up and climb as a non-regular. The staff and other climbers are really friendly, it's a nice atmosphere. They use their own grading system, which is definitely not linear, but very friendly and encouraging to beginners. Perhaps not ideal for pros, but I had a great time!

I. Love. This. Gym. After years of battling crowds and children in some of the larger climbing gym in the area, I have finally found my place! The Spot is definitely more of an adult oriented gym. The music selection is great and ranges from hip hop, indie, djent, metal, electronic, etc. The setting is interesting and varies in style - crimp ladders, compression, endurance, power... There are routes for everyone! As a total introvert, I appreciate that people are not constantly trying to talk me up or spray me down. Very respectful community and good climbing etiquette. There is enough gym equipment to fulfill most needs. They have sweet events. I'm so thankful this gym opened and look forward to many years pulling plastic here.

The Spot is a treat! While I'm not a member, I jump at any chance I get for day passes and gym trades. This bouldering-only gym is FILLED to the brim with routes - new climbers will be pleased not to be shut down on everything and experienced climbers will always have something to work towards. This place has all types of routes, walls, and interesting holds. I love the feeling of climbing in a newer gym!! 10/10 would recommend!

Fun gym. Nice staff, good routes. I found starting some of the routes was tricky but there are plenty to try and something for every level of climber.

Joined for their grand opening and ended up getting a membership. So far, a great space and really welcoming community! I even had a nice chat with one of the owners. I would love to see some community building efforts geared at making the gym more accessible/welcoming to climbers often left on the sidelines or not explicitly welcomed - such as regular women/femme, LGBT+, and POC climbing Meetup nights!

The staff is so friendly and warm to newcomers. I highly recommend joining this community of positive, supportive people who like to be strong and impressive. Their Grand Opening had lots of great deals, lots of community members, and more than anything, a lot of fun and laughter.

I highly recommend The Spot.

I dig this place. It may look small on the inside, but they have enough walls to satisfy your climbing needs. The place has a charm of its own. They definitely do have certain difficult walls that are a great challenge.

Great location really close to downtown so it’s easily accessible. Staff is friendly and so far, they have been active with switching out old routes, holding events, and supporting the local community and the outdoors. Haven’t been to the Boulder location but I’m sure it’s equally as good if it’s run by the same people!

The Spot Denver is a great gym. I have never done Bouldering but have started going here since they opened and am really enjoying it. I feel welcomed. There are plenty of routes and new ones are added pretty frequently. The quantity of routes per difficulty is very fair. Everyone is respectful and the staff is very helpful if you have any questions. I highly recommend this gym to anyone looking into climbing and if you aren't sure try it out anyway, they have very fair daily rates.

The route setting here offers something for everyone; it's a perfect place to introduce friends and family and has enough challenging routes for the experienced climber. The grading system is a bit different from a 1-5 with very small increments in difficulty from 1-3+ that help a novice build there skill set and vocabulary of climbing movement, from there on, the routes become more challenging. The setting style is also different enough from other local gyms that it's great just to stop in for a change up and variety from the types of routes presented at my usual gym.

Shout out to the amazing setters at The Spot (especially Sarah)! Love the diversity of problems - from techy slabs to pumpy overhangs and everything in between. The problems are actually interesting, not just a burl fest like some of the other gyms. And it's only a 20 minute walk from my place! So glad they opened in Denver :)

Awesome gym with awesome people! Really spacious, clean, and great staff to go along with it. So happy that The Spot could come to Denver. The Boulder location is really nice with the older-style problems and boulders you can top out, but the Denver location has so many unique and creative problems its almost hard to see them all! Glad to call this place my home gym.
