Discovered Twisted Steel summer ‘22. Former collegiate football player, high school strength and conditioning coach for 12 yrs in the 90’s to early 2000’s. Best gym my carcass has come across. Great equipment and the owner is a Prime example of what a life on the weights produces. Best “Lifter’s” gym in my experience! Highly recommend!!

However I really wish they would get on their cleaning lady more. The bathrooms are ALWAYS dirty. . . Never have any soap, paper towels, etc. Which makes me believe many other areas of the gym, are also unsanitary. 🥴

I came from out of town up north because my girlfriend’s family reside here in La junta. I’ll be going here every time I’m visiting from now on. Vasa and other gyms don’t have no where near as many machines as this place has. Also the owner is a good guy which is a bonus.

Pros:
- 24 hour access
- women’s only area
- varied equipment and multiples of commonly-used equipment; I have not had to wait to use anything so far even when the gym is busy
- the showers have good water pressure and the shower heads are detachable
- the vending machines have some great options, and there are even healthy meals with the calories and macros listed available for purchase in the entrance area

Cons:
- There were no lockers available on any of the three days I came through. It seems that there is no restriction on how long a person’s stuff can occupy one locker, so there are no lockers available for anyone who has not already claimed one. This was pretty annoying because there was no way that everyone whose stuff was in a locker was currently using the facility while I was there.
- Some of the equipment was very old, which isn’t necessarily a problem, but I was a bit concerned by the condition of the hip thrust machine. The locking mechanism doesn’t line up as it should, and it was hard to move it into or out of place. Since the bar was barely resting on it, I was a bit distracted by the fear that it would fail and fall on me between sets. The padding on it also didn’t seem to help much; it dug in pretty painfully compared to the pads I’ve used when using a barbell for this exercise before.
- There is no monthly membership option without a 1-year commitment, so if you aren’t planning to stay in the area long-term, you’ll end up having to pay more than $100/month to use this gym.

Love the amount of space that the gym has. Looks small on the outside but on the inside it is big. There’s a lot of weights to go around so you don’t have to wait for the next guy to finish up his set. He even has a section of the gym that’s women only. You can even shower after working out a sweat. Try it out for yourself and check it out. You won’t be disappointed.

Great place for someone who is intimidated by gyms but knows they need a change.
I had never been to a gym before, and the idea made me incredibly uncomfortable but I want to get in better shape. The owner Tim helped me get a workout plan figured out, basic tutorial on the equipment I'm starting out on, and has been just absolutely helpful.
It's a great environment too, with many of the regulars more than willing to help with no judgment. If you're new to this type of stuff, I would highly recommend calling, figuring out a time to meet with one of them, and give it a try. They are more than happy to help your journey.

Awesome gym! I’m from out of town and I needed a good workout, they had it all. I workout at Olympus Gym in Raleigh, NC and this is comparable at a quarter of the price. Almost exclusively Arsenal Strength equipment, nice turf area, plenty of dumbbells, and cardio equipment upstairs. Wish I lived near!

Visiting family in “La Junta, CO” my nephews invited me to work out at the “Twisted Steel Gym” met the owner Tim. Awesome guy and his gym has state of the art equipment. First time working out at twisted steel. Hands down, best facility I’ve trained at. The environment is friendly, it’s clean, the equipment is superior to anything I’ve used and all around just a great gym. The cardio machines are upstairs, in their own area which I like.
If you’re around this area, I suggest you check this gym out. The supplement shop is as soon as you walk in, and top quality supps. Probably better than a vitamin shoppe.
