My wife and I recently gate crashed one of K-Lea's retreats she held in Thailand. We are from Australia and had never met K-Lea before so it was a bit of a "let's see how it goes" kind of thing. Both my wife and I had an amazing experience and have nothing but great things to say about our week. First of all, K-Lea is a brilliant human and an equally brilliant and skilled yoga instructor. I have been practicing yoga on and off for over 10 years and I think I learned more in a week than everything prior combined. If you are in K-Lea's neighborhood and thinking of trying her studio out - do yourself a favor and do it... We'll be making the visit to Durango as soon as possible to reconnect with K-Lea and some of the other students we connected with.

K-Lea is a dedicated supporter of our employees through our corporate yoga program. She tailors each class to meet their individual needs, going above and beyond, and her efforts are truly appreciated. K-Lea is adored by everyone, and we highly recommend her to those seeking to enhance employee wellness and morale, or simply looking for an exceptional, and compassionate yoga instructor.

Iyengar yoga with K-Lea is like taking time to trim a favorite tree. I begin with the trunk: working from the inside out - nipping back one branch so another can release forward …. Creating space so the structure becomes the elemental center - for the branches - limbs - leaves . K-Lea is : fun / difficult …. Simple / impossible ……. Bifurcating / uniting. She has a wealth of knowledge , sensibility , humor, and experience …….. And , can see through my dense forest and gnarly shrubs …. Reminding me to water my roots , groom my trunk , and free up my leaves !!!!!!!

K-Lea is an amazing teacher. She is knowledgeable about human anatomy and well versed in yoga philosophy. After starting each class with a wise quote from yoga philosophy, she then teaches a different class each time with a different focus. She is mindful and keeps a watchful eye on her students and encourage us to do our best. She gives detailed individualized instructions to her students to correct and/or improve our asanas.

Her instructions are clear, thorough, and individualized for each students. K-lea has “x-ray” eyes. At times when my monkey mind takes over (even though we’re online via zoom) she’ll notice and make comments about my asana to help me focus.

I’m fortunate (and gratful) to have found K-lea as my teacher.

K-Lea’s thoughtfulness is the hallmark of her teaching. She is a considerate teacher who truly cares about her students. Her sequences set a clear intention. Her asana instruction is mindful and observant; it reflects her deep knowledge and vast experience. She shares a contemplative sutra study in every class and these reflections often carry me through the remainder of my day and my week.

K-Lea is a true gem of a teacher. She is so knowledgeable and helpful. The degree to which she is able to speak to such subtle patterns in the body is incredibly profound. In explaining things she is SO THOROUGH and thoughtful, insightful, and sensitive. The things she has taught me are transforming my practice. Small things with big effects, like how to properly move, bend, and extend my knee in various poses. Or how to use props to make certain poses accessible, balanced, restorative, and effective. I just absolutely adore her and am so grateful to know her and look forward to practicing with her more 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

I've taken yoga classes from a variety of teachers over the years.  While some teachers will read something spiritual in the beginning, or say something about yoga being a practice, the class itself most often feels like a stretch class with perhaps a bit of spirituality.  As a meditator, I have often wondered how this approach represented a practice.  K-Lea's classes are very different.  Not only does she read a sutra and provide insight at the beginning of class, but during the class she provides the variety of asana adaptations for "your body today."  She also provides adjustments in a way that links the spiritual concepts....equanimity, balance, awareness, and more with the way that we approach the posture.  The entire class is infused with the relationship of mindful body awareness to our lives.  I have to admit that I'm now spoiled.  At the end of class I feel like I've had both a lovely physical challenge and a spiritual journey.  It feels like I've been practicing.

Klea is the most knowledgeable yoga teacher and can explain how to do a pose and can articulate how to get the most from your practice. I look forward to her class and always leave with a lot of practical knowledge. A gem for sure in our small mountain town!

Working with K-Lea for almost three years has given me a new life! We're so lucky to have her in Durango! Given the choice between massage, chiropractic, physical therapy, and yoga with K-Lea, my first choice is always yoga with K-Lea! Her extensive knowledge of Iyengar and other forms of yoga, her ability to respond to wherever her client is on a given day, and her dedication to the client’s short- and long-term goals have changed my life. She is always learning and expanding her knowledge and bringing that back to us. K-Lea designs incredible sequences especially for me that meet my specific goals, including resetting the nervous system, reducing pain, building strength, improving mobility, etc. Classes and workshops with K-Lea are great: organized incredibly well and accomplishing what they're designed to do. Privates with her are extraordinary, focused on exactly what the client needs. She is an amazing teacher and person.

Don't hesitate! Whether you are an elite athlete, a dedicated practitioner, or someone who's never been on a yoga mat, K-Lea will improve your life, reduce your pain, and teach you to love yoga — and you will learn that yoga loves you too.

Her knowledge of Iyengar details is incredible and powerful to experience. She's an amazing teacher who breaks down poses in order for every person to get the most of every pose. K-Lea's teaching brings me into the present moment and helps me let go of all of my stressors!

K-Lea's teaching is all about attention to her students, great detail and direction for each pose, and one on one focus even in a group. She is an inspiring yoga teacher and meets me where I am. I am recovering from a knee injury and know she is watching me and helping me get closer to recovery.

K-Lea Gifford rocks! I took a part in several workshops she offered at Sage Yoga Studio in Farmington, NM. She makes yoga accessible for someone like me (I have engaged in yoga on and off for 20 years and I am not very flexible or strong). K-Lea has a great experience in teaching yoga; she knows very well human body & helps to choose what is the best for you or will adjust an asana for your abilities; she makes every class interesting, fresh & inspiring. I enjoy yoga with K-Lea a lot for bunch of reasons, including I feel much better (body, mind and heart) every time we finish a class. I can't wait for the next K-Lea's yoga workshop!

Yoga with K-Lea is exceptional! After taking a group class with her, I was drawn to her hands-on and intuitive instruction. I then took a private yoga session and it was truly an experience. I highly recommend her yoga teaching. If you are in Durango, take a yoga class or private with K-Lea!

I had a multitude of injuries starting with the spine and ending with 2 shoulder surgeries. Working with K-lea has dramatically improved my flexibility, strength and over all kinetic chain. PT only goes so far and as an athlete if you want to get back to the top then I would highly suggest taking privates with K-lea.

You know how it takes 10 years to become a master at something? How about 30 years? It is clear that K-Lea is a master in her field. She is brilliant with anatomy, sequences, and reading the body. Iyengar is such a great way to deepen a yoga practice that may already be established, such as vinyasa. I really appreciate my classes with her. I will definitely come back and visit her in Durango!

K-Lea has amazing knowledge of yoga and how my body will and will not move. She is able to highlight the stuck parts while offering a modification so that I can breathe deeper into the pose. The element I was most impressed with was how one pose leads into the next pose. I was moving in ways that I thought I never would.
