I'm not a climber, but this is still my favorite gym in New Haven. As a beginner, I love that the climbing routes are open and fun for people of all levels – but I 'm there every week for the amazing strength training program with Julie and the range of yoga classes available. The facilities are clean and well-equipped, but above all I love Ascent for how friendly and inclusive it feels. They're building a true community here!

Ascent Gym is hands-down the best fitness spots in New Haven! The weight training facility is top-tier, clean, well-equipped, and perfect for serious training or casual lifting. The staff and ownership go above and beyond to make everyone feel welcome and supported, and it really shows in the vibe of the gym.
The sauna is a game-changer, sits around 184 degrees… the perfect way to wind down after a tough session. On top of that, the community here is amazing. Everyone is super friendly, encouraging, and just genuinely good people to be around.
And I have to shout out the custom bouldering walls… they’re unique, creative, and make every climb feel like a new challenge. Plus, they host unique events throughout the month that bring everyone together, from competitions to community nights and themed workouts. It’s more than just a gym it’s a place to connect and grow.
If you’re looking for a place that offers high-quality training, a supportive environment, and standout amenities, Ascent is it!

I've been going to Ascent New Haven for the past two years, and I absolutely love this place! The gym is always clean, the staff is friendly and supportive, and the energy is welcoming to climbers of all levels. Their classes are fantastic—well-run and a great way to grow your skills and stay active. What truly sets Ascent apart is their dedication to building an inclusive community. They regularly host events for different groups, including LGBTQ+ nights, and they provide accessible facilities for people with disabilities, which shows how much they care about making climbing available to everyone. The route setting is creative and always evolving, so there's always something new to try. Ascent isn’t just a gym—it’s a space where people feel seen, supported, and inspired. Highly recommend!

Loved popping in while visiting family up here. Kate and her team have an amazing setup here. The Boulder problems were fun and approachable, and I enjoyed the sauna as well. Looking forward to visiting another time in the future!

In an unexpected corner of New Haven, nestled in the back of an indoor rock climbing gym on the city's outskirts, a yoga studio has carved out a niche that defies conventional expectations. Ascent New Haven, true to its name, elevates the yoga experience with its diverse array of vinyasa classes. This hidden gem offers a refreshing approach to the ancient practice, proving that sometimes, the most rewarding discoveries lie just beyond the beaten path.
The studio's strength lies in its ability to cater to all levels, from novices to seasoned practitioners, while maintaining a challenging edge that keeps even the most athletic students engaged. Its location within a climbing facility adds an intriguing dimension, attracting a crowd that's as diverse as it is fitness-oriented. This unique setting fosters a symbiotic relationship between climbing and yoga enthusiasts, creating an atmosphere charged with kinetic energy and mindful focus.
What truly sets Ascent apart is its dynamic roster of instructors, each bringing their unique flair to the mat. This variety ensures that no two classes are alike, a boon for those who crave diversity in their yoga journey. The studio's flexible scheduling is a nod to the modern yogi's hectic lifestyle, with class times that ebb and flow throughout the week, much like the breath work central to their practice.
In an era where value is paramount, Ascent New Haven shines. Through the ClassPass app, drop-in rates become not just affordable but downright enticing. This accessibility, coupled with the caliber of instruction, creates an unparalleled yoga experience that doesn't break the bank. As students flow through their poses, surrounded by like-minded individuals in this unconventional space, it becomes clear: Ascent New Haven isn't just a yoga studio – it's a testament to the fact that sometimes, the most enriching practices flourish in the most unexpected places.

Ascent is a welcoming community of climbing and fitness-loving people!! My husband and I moved here right when it opened a year ago, and it has been a second home to us as new New Haven-ers. The climbing is creative and challenging and the staff is so friendly and helpful! This gym is for beginners and advanced climbers a like (as well as yoga and fitness), and for anyone looking for good humans to hang around :)

I don't have any climbing experience, but was tempted by the concept of finding a space to go to after work that felt like a little community. I've only been twice so far, but I feel like I've found that in spades. As an adult who finds meeting people to be a tough concept, this place is super welcoming even to complete beginners.

Not only does Ascent have a great climbing gym, a stellar yoga studio, a sauna, and multiple weight lifting areas.. it has community.
In order to build community, the people who own the gym have to create the space for it, the events for it, and share their hearts themselves.
That's something that the ownership does here, and I am grateful for it without a doubt.
Come for the gym, stay for the community. 🤍

Came here for a day pass and was thrilled. I am looking into car camping and traveling so knowing there is a good climbing gym in CT is very nice. Will definitely be back. Gym equipment is top notch and the walls are in perfect shape. A nice open concept with plants surrounding the climbs. Love the place and highly rec.

Best climbing gym in the area hands down. Very nice, diverse hold sets. 2 premium training boards, campus boards, and every major hang board. Setting is great and sets rotate super frequently so there’s new stuff to climb every week. The garage doors in the main climbing area make it so you can enjoy the sunshine and outdoor temps while climbing indoors, which is a game changer.
10/10 would recommend and that’s before even mentioning the huge amount of fitness equipment, awesome gear selection, top tier vibes, high-end locker rooms with showers, and the sauna.

This place is amazing!! The owners and staff are super friendly, welcoming, and professional, and put concentrated effort into creating a great, all inclusive community for everyone. The facility itself is gorgeous- from a fitness area, a sauna, and yoga studio to a beautiful, start-of-the-art climbing space- just do yourself a favor and check it out. Day pass and shoe rental is very reasonable. We were passing through looking at schools, and this was a great way to get some exercise. It was everyone’s first time, but the staff was super welcoming and after a short explanation, we were all climbing! スタッフが優しく教えてくれて、子供も大人も楽しい時間を過ごしました。大変おすすめです❣️

Ascent is an amazing facility. The space is beautiful, the angles are interesting, and the vibe is lovely. The route setting is solid and offers something interesting for all levels of climbers. Along with boulders that are turned around at a solid pace, the gym has an amazing training space with weights and two fully adjustable climbing boards, including the Decoy Board! The owners Katie and Nate are heavily involved with the local community and are long time climbers, which is always great to see! I can go on and on about how much I like this place, but oh did I mention, they also have a sauna??

This gym is very emulative of the local climbing. It would definitely be a really good venue for USAC championship events. Additionally, whoever chose to have both lavender and seafoam holds gets a prize from the prize bucket.

Beautiful space with awesome people! The staff has been extremely welcoming and friendly. They’re regularly hosting gatherings to encourage members to get together and form a community, which is something I’ve come to appreciate. To me, it’s a no brainer – climbing, fitness center, yoga and mobility classes, and a SAUNA. It’s really become a one-stop shop for my physical training and wellness routine. Definitely recommend.

The gym is unlike anything in the area, expansive climbing walls of varying difficulty as well as two training boards (decoy & kilter) Too advanced for me but looks fun! The layout is very open, and the ambiance is bright, clean and welcoming. There’s also some exercise equipment, a large heated yoga room, a sauna and really nice locker rooms. The staff were knowledgeable and helpful and everyone there was incredibly friendly. I look forward to attending some community events in the future.

This is THE climbing gym to be at in New Haven. Not only do they have the newest holds and the ultimate complexity to the walls but they even have racks for squatting, and lots of strength building machines. They even have a sauna, yoga and mobility classes. This is your all in one gym people and for a steal of a monthly fee, less than most regular gyms of the same caliber facilities. Go take advantage of your free day and see for yourself.

Amazing state of the art bouldering gym with so many amenities too!!! It’s right off the highway on I-91 so it’s super convenient and has plenty of parking. The staff is so helpful and friendly and we love the vibe. It’s very chill and welcoming and the community is really supportive of this relatively new climber:). Love the sauna! And everything is so clean. We tried yoga last Thursday night and it was awesome and I have actually been working out (they have a full fitness section) on the first floor and second! So excited to be a part of this community.

I went to this all bouldering gym and had a great time! The staff are very welcoming and the setting is great! They have multiple boards and a good workout area. The space is really nice and Although because the walls are so brand new my knees were scratched up but I'm sure that will get better with time. I'll be going back for sure!

Ascent New Haven is my new happy place. I come from zero experience in rock climbing and was immediately welcomed without hesitation. The crew was great and helped me figure out how to approach the wall. They provided shoes and chalk and taught me how the grading system works. On top of being an awesome spot to learn climbing, there are traditional gym racks and cardio equipment which are all top notch. Excited to have this new part of my routine.
