My first visit was as a friend's guest. Later that week I returned on my own to establish my own membership only to find out this location is closing at the end of June 2022. Like what the heck? Unfortunately, their other location in Farmington means driving through Hartford's downtown I84/I91/RT9 congested traffic, something I am not willing to put up with everyday. It's a shame because they have a pool and sauna. Now it's no longer irrelevant.

There are several pieces of equipment that are either broken or falling apart. Any time you tell the staff it's always lip service with everything still broken three months later. Ownership clearly has no intentions of updating any of the equipment, if you don't have use for a pool I would absolutely look elsewhere for another facility at least you get your money's worth

I swim. I'm 61 years of age and it's that the pool is kept cool year round. I can manage to get in in the summer. Winter months it's too cold for me to swim. It's heated yes, but could be 2 degrees warmer. They do accept my 'racer' type swimwear, although a boxer or square cut is preferable. I'm not a neatnick, just an ordinary guy, but the people who use the gym trash things relatively quickly. They discard paper towels without concern. There are pieces of paper all over, and the staff is hard kept to clean it up. People litter. And they don't GAF. I feel it's laziness. You want exercise? Pick up the paper.

I’ve been working out here for over 5 years, the place is nice and quite organized. The staff here are super nice and friendly. The equipments are nice and clean.
The restrooms had always been a mess until Thomas showed up. He’s a part time worker, but everytime he’s here, the restroom is super clean and everything is stocked up. If I were the owner, I would definitely give Thomas a raise.

Shelley, one of the personal trainers, was INCREDIBLY helpful as I navigated anxiety related to the pandemic and being at the gym. When I missed a session, she quickly followed up with me and offered some solutions to address my concerns. She provided information about the current protocols for cleaning and offered to send me workouts that I could do at home if I wasn't comfortable coming in. A little disappointed with the South Windsor facility. They moved the equipment closer together rather than the way they were before. Jacuzzi spa has been out of order for close to a month as well as the Wi-Fi. As the manager about it and got no definitive answer.

Overall, one of the best gym facilities I have seen in recent years. The staff and management are also very respectful and understanding. This is my favorite gym after almost 10 years having gym memberships. I have been a member for almost 2 years and got my friend to join and have recommended it to a number of people. The custodians keep it clean. The manager is always around to say hi and all the employees seem full-time or at least all work a lot. They have a new manager at the front and she works hard too. They offer free passes to try it and they’re very friendly. And perhaps the beat part, it isn’t overly loud and crowded. I gladly recommend it whenever I talk about the gym!

First off there isn’t many pieces of workout equipment that this gym DOESN’T have. When I saw two different pull over machines I knew I was in love. Secondly despite being an older gym it’s kept very clean and members are good about putting things back. I expected there to be a lot of very big bodybuilders but it is mostly average people just getting or staying in shape. Last but definitely not least the manager James is a very down to earth friendly guy. When I came in to bring a guest and my guest wasn’t getting the email I was sending for a guest pass James has us sit at the computer for a minute where he took my guests info and told us we were all set. I’ve been training for over 10 years now and this is definitely my favorite gym I’ve trained at this far. Also it’s not really my thing but if you are looking for classes this is 1000% the place to go. I notice classes going on all the time and I think I’m actually going to try one for the first time soon. I’d give this gym 10 stars if it was an option definitely 0 complaints.

This club is ideal for less crowding. Members are more friendly than most gyms but you can also be left alone and focus on your workout. I don’t understand the complaints about cleanliness below. It’s literally the cleanest gym I have had. The staff are fun and usually say hi when you arrive or leave. Prople try to sneak in friends without paying a day pass or setting up a guest ahead of time, then they yell at the young people who have to watch the door. Now I’m seeing they complain online because they didnt get away with it. But that just makes the place better for members so I am grateful for the new staff! After 5 years I still enjoy the weights, sauna, and basketball almost every week and won’t be leaving this gym for anything. Great job!

Place is dirty. Most of the time they have no custodians. No soap...no paper towels. Today they were cleaning pool area floors and splashing the filth into the pool while it was full of people. Tuesday they came while we were swimming in pool and said the pool had to be shut down because the ph was off right after a 1 hour class. Wondering how long the ph was off. Be very careful if you sign up...tricked me into an extra 15 dollars a month, saying I could only add a family member at sign up without paying the $100 + initiation fee. Then sending emails to do it free. Another $50 annual fee charged 2 months after joining. Do not believe the spoken word of James, or anyone else there please READ before signing anything. The sauna and one shower have been out of order for at least 2 weeks. There is no one checking if you are a member half the time. Not checking people to see if they shower before getting into pool and hot tub...GROSS.

My name is Scott and I have been a member of LA Fitness in South Windsor for about 3-4 months. I was going everyday for the first two months and trying to get back in the routine. I brought my girlfriend with me today and James and some other employees were at the front desk, I scanned my card and said I’d like to use my guest pass for my girlfriend. James offended me immediately suggesting that my girlfriend was my sister just because we are both tall. That did not start things off well, then I’m trying to have explained why I can never use a guest pass. Apparently it was only valid for the first 90 days of the membership, first time I was made aware of that as I have never brought a guest. This guy was just trying to sell, sell and sell some more. Saying to add her to save X amount of dollars. He was very disrespectful and continued to disrespect me. It’s very surprising after visiting the LA Fitness website that this man is in charge of sales. Asked his name he declined, asked for a card he said he didn’t have one. We received his name from the girl who was working at the front desk after James stormed away after realizing he wasn’t going to be able to sell my girlfriend a one day guest pass for $16. I asked about cancelling my membership that is the only thing he said I could do, the girl at the front desk was very helpful and printed it. I understand company’s have policies- I don’t understand the disrespect, arrogance and in your face sales. My girlfriend was interested in joining. Doesn’t seem like that will happen now. Just very shocked and disappointed. I’ve kept my membership and dealt with mold in the bathroom showers and shower liners. I’ve had my keys stolen, I’ve been there at 5am and there was blood all over the men’s bathroom until 7am. Just very disappointed in the customer service that we received. Very offended by an individual who represents a companies sales after I personally have seen the upkeep of the gym in South Windsor. I am undecided if I am keeping my membership which I understand is pennies to you in the long run, just think you should be aware that someone who represents LA Fitness could be so disrespectful to a paying member.

Update- After now reading multiple reviews this isn’t the first time James has been called out for disrespect to members. He called and cursed out another reviewer? Believe it. There’s multiple through out, and, literally is in the last few days to the last month. I’m sure if I searched more, I’d find more! The short boi who works there in glasses and long-sleeve plaid shirts tucked too tightly into his khakis has no clue how to respect customers or behave professionally. He made an announcement on the loudspeaker that no one could hear because he talked muffled and didn't use bass in his voice when speaking. After getting into an argument with him regarding how he was addressing a concern with me by making phsysical threats, he informed me he doesn't care that none of his membership shows up to the gym as long as they pay their monthly fees. I told him maybe the gym is this empty because you treat people like this. He told me that the seemingly empty gym was" killing it" on membership dues of people who don't go and just pay. "Maybe their mothers should care because I don't." He also continued to argue and bicker with me for the next ten minutes rather than just saying sorry you're the customer you're right, or simply dropping the argument all together. Waste of my time and money. The sales team will try to get their commission by any means necessary. Long story short, I went to the gym to obtain some information. Less than a week later, a salesman name James made an unauthorized charge on my credit card. I called him as soon as I receive the notification from the credit card company to tell him that I did not authorize this transaction and to cancel the charge. He said he would cancel the charge the next morning. I followed up with him 5 business days later, he told me he already got his commission and there’s nothing he can do.
LA FITNESS is a fraudulent organization. They forged my contract and they refused to return my money.

Very nice workout facility, great front desk staff, Alex very friendly and helped me with any issues I had. They have the weights I need, the equipment and pool is always clean. I bring my family here and they love it too

This LA Fitness has been the worst LA Fitness I have ever been to in my life. This gym has horrible customer service. The facilities are not kept up at all. I only went this location because it was only 5 minutes away from my house and practically only gym in area with a pool and jacuzzi. If you live nearby and need a pool and jacuzzi and don't want to drive more than 25min than it is bearable.The staff who works at night also rush you out of gym 10min before they are even closed. Otherwise go to another location if you don't mind driving 25min further to Newington or West Farms location.

This is the first gym I've gone to that didn't turn me away from working out, and I plan on using it for a long time. The workers are very dedicated and knowledgeable, and are always ready to help you and answer any questions. The amount of equipment in the gym is staggering, and it is all kept clean and well maintained. I never have to wait to use anything because of the infinite amount of options available. My favorite workout is bench press, and there are always a lot of weights available for use. This is a great gym to go to whether you're working out solo or lifting with a group of friends.

Many machines and water coolers are broken..the called for service card stays on for weeks..
they have had broken clocks for 4 months now..
no one cleans machines ..some are gross..
Ladies showers are disgusting ..soap dispensers are falling off the wall..tile’s dirty..

Staff is never of any help..Not sure if there’s even a manager I can never find one and there never hear..
