I joined this healthtrax as I moved to the area and once was a member at a different location which I loved. Unfortunately this location was not a match. I was really excited about the pool, kidzone, and sauna. Unfortunately when I joined online no one during my in person tour (which my 2 yr old was present for) mentioned an additional fee for the kidzone. Not only was I paying 53 dollars for the membership but after a few initial visits I was randomly stopped and told I need to pay an additional 14 dollars per child for a kid zone that’s not even open the whole week. I canceled the membership. Price is not worth it for me which is unfortunate.

Was clapped off of the β€œBasketball court” for a pilates class. This isn’t the first time me & my friends that travel 25+ mins have been treated horribly by the staff while playing basketball. i brought possible young new members to check out the basketball court & gym. was told that we abused the guest pass & was asked for ID for. Then after we left me & my group was told to β€œgo back to waterbury where we came from” very rude and prejudice workers do not recommend!

This gym is hot garbage ! I along with 6 others were literally clapped at today and told β€œto hurry up β€œ at 8:45 this morning while we were playing basketball because a 9:15 group fitness class wanted to start setting up . That is 30 minutes early! They often set up the class equipment around us in a passive-aggressive manner while we’re playing. Almost as if they’re sending a message that we’re not welcome. Though this could lead to injury or even spark conflict, we always choose to handle it diplomatically. This treatment will not stand . I was told there was a basketball court at this gym when I gave Darcy $600 + to sign up. I paid and I intend to play ball without being harassed or I’ll write a review every single day till you have no members left to give this sorry excuse for a gym the 1 star it deserves. If your classes are scheduled at 9:15 , then you can set up for it at 9:15. Do better! Also, chill with the microphones . We shouldn’t have to endure that through our own headphones just because Billy Blanks over there is convinced he sold out an arena for a 9AM jazzercise.

I like my current gym but I am looking for a gym with more amenities. I was considering this gym but will continue to look elsewhere due to how my son was treated. He was denied entry during his second visit due to β€œnot having an ID”. I called back to find out why he was denied entry considering that 15 year olds typically do not have IDs. I was told that some teenagers have been abusing the free workout passes by using different names each time they go to workout. At no point did my son try to use a free pass. He paid for the $15 day pass in the past and was trying to do the same. When I called, I was told that he needs to go through the junior strength program. According to their website, the junior strength program is for children between the age of 9-13 years old. I would not be opposed to him doing this program even though he is above the recommended age but I am looking at other options because of he was treated.

Very disappointed in the children swimming lessons. Classes were very chaotic and disorganized especially when the head instructor Mr.C wasn't there. Young helper maybe highschool aged was letting my child struggle and her face repeatedly falling under the water to the extent she started choking while he was directly next to her because he wasn't paying attention. Same instructor laughed at my child after she went under the water and couldn't help herself back up and was very scared. She was crying and he wasn't laughing. He seemed new and had little idea what he was doing. My child did 3 sessions and made absolutely no improvement after the 1st session. They split the classes in a very weird way some kids were receiving a nearly private or very small group lessons due to skill and kept kids with the beginners even though they were in sessions prior so therefore never progressed. Very confusing. You can pay slightly more at another place if not the same amount for much better lessons and more attentive instructors.

What a mistake I made by buying a membership here! First they told me they would waive the $99 annual fee if I joined, and I'd only be charged $103 each month for my 2 kids and I. But the very next month they took that $99 annual fee, plus another $42 annual fee without my knowledge or authorization, on top of my $103 monthly payment, for a total of $250! That is OUTRAGEOUS! They're not even open during hours that are easy to accommodate. So I've only ever went just a of couple of times, as they close at 3pm on weekends and 9pm Mon-Thurs. They won't even refund my money to cancel my membership and go someplace else, so I have to just try and make the best of it. I shouldn't have to feel that way, they have failed at customer satisfaction for sure!

Looking for a new gym, shopping around and visited this gym today.

The staff were all EXTREMELY friendly and helpful.

The facility is very nice with a large range of accommodations and function (weights, sports courts, group classrooms, pool, locker room, massage beds etc...).

Monthly fee was quite steep, but I suppose it makes sense if you will use everything they offer, they have to run quite a diverse facility.

They also asked for a strangely INVASIVE amount of personal information, which was very odd. Even more odd that it was just to see the facility. I declined to share (the unnecessary bits) and they still let me see. I cannot speak to if it's required for a membership though, so be wary of that my friends.

Excellent place, extremely well managed. I recently moved to this area and happy I joined this club. Although I have never personally met the manager Divya, I have heard things about her. Last night I scheduled a session for my infant son to be in the kid zone and when someone was not present, the front desk immediately called Divya and arranged a substitute.

If you're considering Healthtrax as a gym I suggest you turn around a run. This gym was okay at best while I was using it but the real nightmare came when I cancled my membership.

You see, I thought everything was fine when I cancled. I filled out the paperwork, I spoke to the appropriate people, should be over right? Wrong. Months later I started getting charged again for a membership I already cancled. No big deal, mistakes happen, I'll just let them know.

Well they flat out refused to even considering refunding me the money the just took from me, told me my membership was canceled, and never responded to me again.

Until a few months later when I noticed they had CONTINUED to take money from me. Now I have finally gotten them to agree to a refund, and they're keeping two months of fees! For something they messed up! TWICE!

To make a long story short, take your money and run as far as you can from Healthtrax.

I just moved to the area and joined the gym at the beginning of this month. I am 8 months pregnant and the pool is the only physical relief and exercise I am able to safely do at the moment. Being a high-risk pregnancy at the height of cold and flu season I attempted to come to the pool during adult swim time for the safest option. At 8:40 there was still a young girl (who was coughing every time she came up from a lap) in the pool with her mother. I went to the front desk to double-check that I had the adult swim time correct. I returned and politely explained to the woman that it was adult swim from 8:30-9:45 to
which she replied β€˜no’ and refused to get her out of the pool. Another 3 young boys came into the pool at this time. Frustrated as I had waited all day for the appropriate time to come find some relief from my physical pain, I walked back out to the front desk where the employee explained he was still waiting for coverage to be able to get to the pool area. When he finally came in, the men with the boys began raising their voices and also refused to get out of the pool; one man even began yelling directly at me. At this point I was brought to tears; I had been waiting all day for 8:30 to go swimming. I pay as much as everyone else for a monthly membership and am only able to use one small area of the gym during one limited time each day. To be refused what was offered to me when I signed up, while being yelled at by another customer, and then to have the Healthtrax employee do nothing to fix the situation or enforce the adult swim (he left the 3 adults and 4 children in the pool at 9pm so I had nowhere to swim and went home) - extremely poor management and customer service. I’m upset and disappointed as this is the only pool available in the area so I am unsure what else I will be able to do to maintain physical activity and comfort for the remainder of my pregnancy.

I tried 4 other local-to-Bristol gyms, and I keep coming back here. I love that the trainers aren't pushy - they let me do my thing and leave without a hassle. I haven't been solicited to try training since I moved to this location- and for that I am grateful! The woman at the front desk in the early morning is always pleasant. It seems they're slowly updating the facility , which is nice. A few suggestions : add a (huge) rock wall, theater, pool, open at 4am (or 24 hour access would be nice).

Most of the people there are pretty cool, but the manager, totally rude and disrespectful, he thinks he is the man and that he is better than everyone else. He practically banned me from there after all the money I spend at that place (which is completely overpriced by the way), he comes out to me and tells me I can’t come to the gym anymore. Whatever, I’ll just go to a nicer place with people who aren’t douches.

Follow up: just went there, they recognized me and kicked me out even though I had money. Douchebags.

I had no idea this place was here until I met a woman in the parking lot here to buy something that I liked off of Craigslist. It is not well lit at night it is down one of those types of roads that you think are only homes, I had no sign of available till me until I was on top of it, and I would absolutely lock your car here. My primary membership is with a different Healthtrax. I go to the Bristol Healthtrax on occasion because of its proximity. I have to say, in comparison to other Healthtrax locations, that this location is not as well kept. I'm not sure what it is but the dim lighting and slightly grungy old floors and furniture make it pale in comparison to the other Healthtrax locations. This might sound trivial but for the cost of membership I think this is relevant to consider.
The hot tub was lukewarm last time and there were two teenagers that deliberately broke a sink in the locker room. I appreciated that the manager addressed this matter directly and forced them to leave the premises.
On the plus side the pool is usually a nice experience and not crowded when I need to swim laps.
I can't speak to all parts of the gym as I haven't tried them all out.
Despite some of the negative qualities of this specific Healthtrax location I would still continue to use it and would not deter anyone from going.

I have to disagree with the review by @punisher5616. The trainers are amazing. They are ALL well trained, educated, and genuinely care about their clients well being. I personally have worked with the so called "dumpy, frumpy trainer in glasses" (who is far from such) and she has literally been my life saver. She's been able to work around my physical and emotional issues, and push me to always do better. She knows what she's doing with my body, and I've lost 90lbs working with her! My strength has improved 10 fold from not being able to get off my own couch! Yes, the facilities look a little dated, but it has everything you need. I wouldn't dream of being at any other gym :-)

I have been a member of Healthtrax for several years (in fact I've going there since the 1980s when it was Bristol Health and Racquet). I love this family "fitness center." The focus here is really on health and fitness with a comfortable, "no judgement" feel. It offers lots of classes, has a pool and lots of gym equipment. Some of the equipment needs repairs (i.e. several bikes in the spin room). The staff is very friendly and helpful. It is a bit higher priced compared to its local competitors ($40 for single membership) but with that price you can use any Healthtrax fitness center in the area (Avon, Newington, North Haven). I've been to all four maor gyms in Bristol, and I feel with Healthtrax you get the most (and best feel) for your money!

Uhhhhhh, waaaayyyyy too overpriced! Dated & broken equipment to name a few of the vast issues. Most trainers look like professional fast food junkies. One particular trainer is the most rude and disrespectful people on the planet. She's this dumpy, frumpy blonde that wears glasses. Don't waste your time with her, looks more like a Bon Bon rep counter than an actual weight trainer or whatever the hell she is. A few good trainers but if nots the crappy equipment, it's the atmosphere. Place in general is more like a bridge club than a "gym". Like a 100/mo. for a family for no apparent reason. Completely despise the place and will never set foot in it again frankly. I literally watched people who work there disregard the safety of young children training with the most dangerous form. As a personal trainer myself, I have helped them and taught them how to properly train. I even know women who left due to the owner being a complete sleaze. Don't waste a moment or penny on this dump. Join LA Fitness or anywhere but this gym.
