This place brought me back to the right track! I used to do crossfit a few years ago and stopped for greater reasons, but when I found out this gym, it was like finding my way back again. They welcomed me in their J3 community and in a few classes I felt part of that. The workouts are well thought to give everyone the best experience with physical activity. People are very warm and embrace you, they cheer you up and make you feel good about yourself. This is definitely the best gym in Stamford! I would recommend it to anyone!

I was encouraged by my chiropractor who is also a member to check out J3fitness, and I’m so glad I did! I've been a member since January 2024, and from day one, the experience has exceeded my expectations. The other members were immediately welcoming and encouraging, which made stepping into something new feel a lot less intimidating.
The trainers are knowledgeable, supportive, and help create the positive, inclusive environment that makes J3 so special. One of the things I appreciate most is the wide range of ages and abilities among members — everyone is there to do their personal best, and the support from the group is what makes me keep showing up.
The small class sizes are perfect, allowing for personal attention and a real sense of community. I had never lifted a barbell before joining, and now I’m completely hooked. J3fitness has helped me build confidence, strength, and a genuine love for working out. Highly recommend!

I was always skeptical about CrossFit, but after seeing J3, I was convinced it’s the real deal. I quit “the other gym” and train only here exclusively. Top notch training along with top notch coaching equals awesome results! They have pushed me past my limits and believe in me! The atmosphere here is high vibe and totally contagious...you’ll leave with good sweat and a smile on your face. I like how they work with all fitness levels and encourage everyone to push hard no matter their fitness background.

J3 Athletics changed my life during a very tough time. For two years, I stopped having the motivation to go to the gym or do anything involving physical activity. I did my daily task such as going to work, coming home and eating out which left me feeling worse. Since joining J3 Athletics, my mental health has improved drastically, I feel more confident in how I look and overall my eating habits have changed, due to the accountability I received on every level. James, the owner is so phenomenal with holding you accountable on an individual basis regarding your food, health and fitness choices. The fitness trainers are all well educated, meet you where you are with zero judgment and the environment in general is very uplifting and motivating. As an introvert, I felt very comfortable in the space and appreciate the space being inviting, focused, nonjudgmental and being able to go at my own pace while adjusting accordingly. For me, just going to the gym on my own never last for long and it’s amazing to have a community pushing you constantly on those days you’re just not feeling it. As someone who used to go to the gym regularly and had three personal trainers, for the very first time I learned what proper form is with different weights and strength training techniques. The consistency of the program allows you to develop lifetime habits for a healthy lifestyle rather than a quick fix. So my only advice is just do it! You won’t regret it.

James is the coolest trainer ever! I’ve never been more excited to go to a gym and workout. Great conversations and jokes along the workout journey! He has an awesome workout playlist as well! His workouts are well planned and organized and I noticed results after two weeks of working with him! Coolest trainer ever! Join!! He also doesn’t judge me when I use “dates” the fruit as a motivation to work out. The last session I had with him for each push up I would say “dates” and that motivated me to workout because after that workout I went to home goods and got myself some good dates. ( best snack ever after a workout ). Totally try it. Also totally join the gym. Worth the money. No excuse not to join. Just do it.

A hidden gem! After more than 12 years without any exercise, the idea of getting back into it felt both overwhelming and intimidating. My stamina was non-existent, and being significantly overweight made the thought of working out in front of others feel downright embarrassing. But I decided to embark on this journey—even with all my fears staring me in the face—and I’m so glad I did. I’ve found incredible support from both the coaches and fellow members. The classes are small, so the personal attention is awesome. I’ve have already started to notice improvements just a month in: I have more energy throughout the day, no longer feel groggy, my headaches have nearly disappeared, and I’m sleeping so much better!

I've been going to J3 for the last month. The effects of being part of this community are immediate. Not only do I already feel stronger physically, I have begun to realize how capable I am of growth. I've never weight-trained before, but both the coaches and the members offer endless help on how to get started and how to push yourself safely. I think the most powerful part of being part of J3 is that there is a real community between all the people in the gym. It matters that you show up every day not just for your personal well-being, but also because everyone cares that you are there working hard. I’ve been part of the J3 community since the beginning of March. It’s been a long time since I was a member of any gym and after some encouragement from a friend who’s a long-time member, I decided to check it out and I’m so glad I did! The people are great and very welcoming. I also really like that the class sizes are small so I’m able to get additional instruction from the coaches on doing the moves correctly and improving my form, especially since I’m new to a lot of the exercises. I also enjoy the variety of workouts and that you’re able to preview and book them on the app! If you’re looking to join a gym in the area, I highly recommend checking out J3!! :)

I became a member of J3 a few months and I am so happy I did. As soon as you step into the gym for your first workout you are welcomed with open arms from your coach as well as the other members. James is so knowledgeable and really is passionate about what he does. He takes the time to help you with any modifications you need to make your workout successful as well as the Coaches Liz and Oscar. Top notch facility and I highly recommend it. This workout is quick and hits muscles I didn’t even know I had. The classes are filled with people of all ages, shapes and sizes and what I like is that everyone goes at their own pace and does their own thing but doing it as a group. Very supportive environment. I have been a member of J3 Athletics for 2 months now and wish I made the decision to join sooner. I had previously been doing group fitness classes, but nothing like the style of classes offered at J3. Cross fit sounded intimidating to me so it was not something I sought out before. The difference with J3 has been the personal direction from the coaches, teaching me each and every move, providing modifications to make each move possible for me, and making sure I am keeping correct form so I don’t injure myself. I love that each day is a different, the exercises in the classes are challenging and fun and the class sizes are small. The community is so close knit and supportive and there are monthly challenges to get involved in. J3 has definitely met me where I am at and pushes me to do more each class. I feel stronger already and am excited to see how far J3 can take me!

I joined J3 when they first opened. The workouts complement my active lifestyle both at work and during my downtime.
The coaches have always been willing to adjust workouts depending on where I am on my fitness journey. Pushing me and encouraging me as needed.
The support and camaraderie of my fellows at 5:15 am always gives me a fun and energizing start to the day :-)
Update- The coaches continue to work on optimizing the workout experience by adding facets to the classes like bullet-proof segments to help with mobility, strength, and injury reduction. Workouts are also individualized so that you can work on strength, speed, or stamina depending on your lifestyle needs.

I avoided these types of gyms in the past cuz I had it in my mind that it was a certain way but quickly learned it wasn’t what I was thinking.
They give you 3 weeks trial for $30 so there is no reason not to give it a try.
I love having the workouts for the week listed ahead of time on Sunday and look forward to seeing what’s in store for the week. Even though some workouts seem tough the coaches still make em fun and let you go at your own pace and scale of each movement. Membership may seem costly but it’s worth it because each class really feels like a one on one personal training session, and I don’t think there has been a repeat of workouts so each session is fresh and doesn’t get boring so it keeps you motivated to keep going back. Classes are small too so it really helps everyone to push each other

I started at J3 this past summer of 2021. I’ve seen a big difference in my fitness having increased strength and conditioning.. The coaching is top notch and the different workouts everyday make the programming a lot of fun. The gym is clean and organized with covid kept in mind so everyone has their own space (pod). The classes are kept tight so you get a lot of attention by the coaches which is a plus. It’s a very upbeat atmosphere with a lot of community events which makes J3 a special place.

I have been going to J3 for 3+ years now. James, Timmy B, and Liz genuinely care for you and are there to help you reach maximum potential. Classes are challenging, but fun! I've met amazing people at J3, and I've never been fitter. The coaches/owners are encouraging and clearly care about you and your safety, and are proud of their work. The gym is clean, and the workouts are always varied, and planned well – easily scaled up or down for your level of comfort. If you are looking for a solid , high intensity workout but are worried about getting injured you should check out J3 Athletics. The coaching staff is very hands on and attentive to insure you are not only using weight you can handle but also doing the movement properly. Awesome gym highly recommend. 3 things I love (although there are many more).
1) never bored, these guys constantly mix up the workouts and keep things exciting
2) workouts can be as intense as you want them to be, everything scales. Trainers will push you just the right amount.
3) these guys are super passionate about what they do and it shows. I never get there and feel they’re just trying to get through a class, trainers are super engaged and want you to succeed.

I've bounced around other HIIT gyms for the last couple of years. Never feeling the same "community" thing that I sort of had at two other places that are no longer around (or changed management). One place had a great community. The other had great programming.
J3 is like those two gyms merged and produced this type of place. A place where everyone is welcoming, the workouts are challenging, and there's no drama.
The owners of J3 also actually care about their members. To the point that they check up on you if you tend to disappear for a week, which is sometimes needed as we all tend to just slip from time to time. However, they also push you out of your comfort zone for each workout. If you think you're going to skate by with an easier scale, it's not going to happen. The coaches will notice and "fix" your weights and scalings. And, people like me need that push. It's why I go. It's why I mix this in with home workouts and my boxing. Because working out at home is fine, but it will rarely ever get me to push myself to the next level. J3 will always push me to be better. To do better.
The place is also super clean thanks to the owners and to each member being responsible for sanitizing their spot and equipment once done.

I personally do not attend the gym, however my mother does religiously. She often comes home excited after a tough workout. I can tell how hard she worked by the few words she is able to share with me post workout. Additionally, the family community tagged alone with the individual attention J3 athletics provides, pulls together a tight knit community here in Springdale that pushes outside of the gym as friendships are established and relationships grow. In a pandemic it is hard to find highlights in such a troubled time, but J3 is a bright spot in my moms day as she continues to get in better shape day in and day out.

I have been at J3 for the past month (what an awesome find on GroupOn) and I have to say, I have never felt more fit or athletic in years! Its been great learning how to use weights and barbells the proper way, and with no judgement when I had no idea what I was doing. The atmosphere is such a teamwork/community vibe, with social events and always being cheered on by others to finish a challenging workout. Even if you don't feel like you're up to heavy weights or can't do certain moves, the trainers here help with either modifying the exercise or finding something else to do instead! Highly recommend J3 - The workouts are dynamic and challenging for any skill set!
The community is outstanding - we are supportive and we push each other to improve! It’s such a wonderful environment and had so many amazing friendships blossom from becoming a member!
Coaches are wonderful - Everything can be modify and they help you reach whatever goals you have set - whether it’s lifting heavier, getting an unassisted pull up or double unders etc... Since I’ve been at J3, I’ve worked out while pregnant with my second child and a broken hand. There’s no limitations of what you can do here!

I am a traveling x-day tech and was only in the Stamford area for 3 months. During these 3 months I decided I needed to make a change. I walked into J3 with no prior experience in CrossFit, they were able to educate me and tailor each workout to my fitness level. The atmosphere was fun to be in and not only the coaches but my fellow classmates were always pushing me to do my best! Whether you are new to CrossFit like me, or are very experienced J3 is the place for you!

My girlfriend and I joined this year in August and have zero regrets. I have always been a lifter but had shied away from CrossFit out of fear of injury. J3 has completely changed my perspective on it because of their holistic approach that ensures we take care of our muscles and joints, both pre- and post- workout. I look forward to the workouts and have the motivation to get to the gym much more often than I did on my own. I’m grateful that there’s a place like this, where I get workouts that make me want to dig deep and feel like I get the attention I need from the trainers to make sure my movements are healthy. I highly recommend J3 to anyone looking to switch up their workout routine, start over after some time off, or is just serious about fitness! I’m hooked!

If you are looking for a place that is not your typical gym, then this is the place for you. You will get fit here, but also be part of a special community. The coaches care about each person, no matter what level you are starting at and they will help you achieve your goals. I joined J3 in January when I felt I had gotten all I could from a traditional gym and I’ve never looked back. The small class sizes allow for more personal attention. No 2 classes have been the same. Everyday is a new and challenging work out. There is no feeling of competition except with yourself. James, Tim, and now Liz are awesome at guiding and motivating you through every work out. They and all the members are so welcoming and supportive. I’m so lucky to be part of J3.

I've been a member of J3 since they first openend their doors - and was so excited for them to open because I'd been coached by James and Timmy in the past. Since J3 opened my all round athletic ability has improved; I'm more mobile, stronger and fitter. The coaches will push you to be your best but the workouts are always scalable so if you're having a bad day or are injured they'll help you work through that too. J3 is such a positive place and every single member is truly awseome, encouraging and friendly.

J3 is awesome. The atmosphere is what I need on a week day or a weekend, on a good day or a bad day ( because yes I am just human and I have bad days). The members are friendly and always smiling. But more importantly the coaches at J3 are very attentive. Every class I feel like I’m getting a private session. There’s no question of what I’m getting out of my membership. This is a great, super clean local Box equipped with lots of care & passion on behalf on the owners. The WODs were tough but manageable, which is a winning combination of CrossFit :). I’ve been at J3 for roughly 2 months, after having taken an 8 year workout hiatus. From day one, James and Tim made me feel welcomed, unashamed of being so out of shape, and motivated to reestablish healthy routines. After 2 months, and more healthy eating habits, I’ve dropped almost 10 pounds and can already feel my lungs, muscles, and motivation coming back. I’m super thankful to J3 and would recommend it to anyone looking for a gym in the Stamford area - particularly those who like the idea of CrossFit but are put off by the sometimes intimidating nature of it.
