The L.A Fitness in Farmington is a joke. The pool area has always been closed due to its nasty conditions. I’ve been experienced seeing small maggots in the pool area… more than once. I have picture proof I have presented to staff prior and only at my 3rd request for the pool area to be clean, they instead just shut it all down.

To make it even funnier. The vending machine will never work but the staff seem to never put a “do not use sign”. Many people I know including myself have fell for this stupid penny pinching tactic.

If I could give this gym 0 stars I would. Thank the lord I’m just on a guest pass. I will not be a member here. I’ve kept my mouth shut for too long with this gym.

My brother and I spent the entire day looking for a place to play basketball, and we decided to try this gym using their FREE 3-day pass. We drove all the way to the Farmington location, which is already pretty far for us, only to be told we had to pay for the “free” pass.

After explaining that our goal for the day was simply to use the basketball court, the employee took our money and only THEN told us that there was no basketball court available. At that point we had already wasted a long trip for nothing.

The manager/employee apologized for the miscommunication and told us we would be reimbursed the next business day since we never got to use the gym for what we came for.

Two weeks passed with no refund, so I called back. The same person who promised the reimbursement suddenly told us we couldn’t be refunded and that there was nothing they could do, even though they clearly told us otherwise before.

Overall, terrible communication, misleading information, and extremely unprofessional service. We wasted time, gas, and money for absolutely nothing. I would not recommend this location to anyone.

I'm leaving five stars today, which normally I wouldn't. Lately the cleanliness of the gym has been slacking a lot. I was refreshed today when I noticed a employee who actually cared about his work ethic. I met one of the cleaners. A Hispanic kid named David. He did a phenomenal job cleaning the gym and a even better job cleaning theens bathrooms. So much so, that other members of the gym couldn't help but shower him with gratitude. Just nice to see a guy working hard and taking pride in their work. That guy should be lead of the maintenance crew there.

Being an expat on a assignment for three months I came there to have an opportunity to go swimming. I was told the best thing for me would be a three months prepaid contract which seemed reasonable so I went for it. Afterwards I found out the pool - the only thing I came for - was closed but would open beginning of next week. Coming there again the pool still was closed and I was told it would open end of the week. The next week it still was closed and suddenly I was told it would open only a month later.

I got in contact with the support which only offered me to freeze my contract. This makes no sense for me since I prepaid already, which is why I requested a refund. I did not hear anything back since then even though multiple times engaging with the LA fitness support

I’ve been coming to LA Fitness since June, and my experience has become increasingly negative. The gym is always messy, even when I come in at 5am there is equipment everywhere, so the staff clearly doesn’t clean up before closing. More often than not there are no wipes in any of the stations, and when I’ve brought this to the front desk they have said “the janitor will take care of it,” but there is no janitor at 5am. Bathrooms are frequently out of paper towels, gym members do not wipe down machines or put their weights away. And on top of all this, the pool has been “closed for repairs” since I joined. Disappointing to say the least.

Krissy A. led the Silver Sneakers class this morning. She does an outstanding job. We are motivated and engaged for the entire hour. Krissy instructs on movements that we might otherwise not attend to. She elucidates and educates us precisely to allow us to do these movements correctly even when on our own. She watches us and provides feedback. Krissy is fun and funny. One can simultaneously be in distress from heavy weights, movement repetition etc. and laugh out loud uncontrollably.

I’ve been a loyal member of LA Fitness for over seven years, primarily at locations across the country, especially in New York State. However, my experience at the CT Farmington location has been nothing short of disappointing.

When I arrived in August 2024, I was shocked to find that most of the personal fitness staff had left. The gym itself was clean and well-maintained, but I was consistently overcharged or had my personal fitness credits misused. Despite my complaints, the staff provided no apologies or incentives to rectify the situation. This went on for over 6 months.

One particular staff member, a man with visible facial scars, was particularly rude to me. I tried to find alternative gyms in the area, but unfortunately, the Berlin location is now permanently closed.

I believe that LA Fitness’s financial struggles are reflected in their staff turnover. It’s a red flag when their own employees are leaving. I’m also planning to cancel my membership soon, once I’ve used up all my personal training credits. I’ll be switching to Planet Fitness, as it’s a more affordable option in today’s economy.

In this tough economic climate, it’s crucial for companies to prioritize their customers’ financial well-being. Unfortunately, LA Fitness has failed to do so, and I’ve had numerous issues with my account.

It’s a pretty decent gym in terms of quality and quantity of equipment. They also have good deals when it comes to their fitness classes. However, the majority of the staff don’t seem to care when it comes to upkeep of the gym. I’ve only seen one staff member go around to sweep the floor and replace the wipes. The rest keep to their desks and stay on their phones the vast majority of the time. I’ve also been to the gym several times at opening, and there’s always weights, dumbbells, and other equipment left out and not put away overnight.

A little more expensive than other gyms but with more perks (pool and sauna) relative to the price (about $30). No contracts is always good. Best schedule in my area (5am to 10pm on weekdays). Wish there were a few more squat racks, but it gets the job done. Even when there are plenty of people it doesn't feel that crowded.

Management: You are not ordering enough sanitizing wipes. Once a month I’ve gone in to find no one in the gym can wipe down their surfaces, on multiple occasions this was for multiple days. Talking to your staff, it sounds like you run out of wipes and order then - please, for the love of not spreading ringworm to all of your members, spend the extra $50 a month to make sure you have extra.

Worth it if you want a wide array of equipment, a hot tub, sauna, and pool.

It’s usually quite busy yet despite that the wait times on different pieces of equipment aren’t too bad. They could certainly do with a couple more barbell racks.

The biggest complaint I have is that the place is filthy. I’ve been going for years now and I’ve noticed a tremendous drop in cleanliness. Gum in the lockers. Gum in the drink holders. Disgusting floors with insects crawling on them. Discarded wipes and general dirt on the cardio equipment (especially drink holders).

My last trip there I also noticed they let men who dress like women into the women’s locker room. Would never let my wife or daughters go here.

Haven’t had much interaction with the staff but they seem friendly enough.
